4-0 out of 5 stars Too darned easy to use!
The new edition of FrontPage has the same ease of use as previous editions, with improvements in advanced features and more standard HTML code than previous versions, which would often create some strange items when you used the WYSIWYG editor. It's so easy to use, I have a tough time weaning myself off of FrontPage and getting into Macromedia, which has some advantages for the webdesigner. Thing is, I am an amateur web designer, so I don't have time to get totally educated in the more advanced features. FrontPage is just too darned easy to use.

But why is that a problem with FrontPage? It handles CSS well, and the editor is darned easy to use, far easier than Macromedia Studio MX. But if your ISP server doesn't employ Frontpage Extensions (and many of them don't) then uploading pages created in Frontpage can be difficult if not impossible. However, for the average user, I have to say that FrontPage is the web designer of choice. It's far easier to get running than Macromedia, which really is not intuitive. FrontPage is intuitive, and most people will have excellent success right out of the box. Just watch out for the extension support when you choose a web space provider.

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the aspiring website designer on a budget
Frontpage has gotten noses turned up at it by many website developers for years. Frontpage 2003 is sure to make many rethink this Microsoft Product.

I've been using FrontPage since version 3 and this is by far the best version. Even if you have Frontpage 2000 or 2002 (which I uprgraded to prior)you will see the dramatic differences in this version. It is a professional website development tool (finally).

Slap two monitors to your computer and vola...you can see code and your design mode at the same time (or if you have one monitor you can just 'split' between design and code modes.

And if anyone still believes that FrontPage dumps in 'useless code' like it did in versions a long time ago...think again. Not only has then been stopped since version 2000, but now you can 'clean' your code.

It's a great version for those of us who don't want to spend hundreds (or thousands) of dollars on other design programs that FrontPage can do equally as well.

3-0 out of 5 stars Microsoft Frontpage 2003
hi ,
I Pradeep realy like your new edition for Microsoft Frontpage 2003

4-0 out of 5 stars Frontpage 2003 vs. 2000
I am not a computer idiot. I know my way around Microsoft Publisher, Word, and Excel (that is to say I can get what I want out of them). However, when it came to FrontPage 2000 I found I was a bit out of my league. Not well conversant in HTML or XML (web page languages), I found myself dismayed. MS Publisher has web page creation that I found simple and easy to use, it just lacked all the nifty bells and whistles I really needed to make my site rock. So...the problems I had with FrontPage 2000 seem to have disappeared with the 2003 version. It's much easier to use (not as easy as Publisher), but I have found it to be a great improvement over the 2000 version.

So far, I have only run into one major problem (major for me). I used to be able to insert a drop-down boxes, I find that I am no longer able to do that. It's probably my problem since I haven't purchased a 1,000 page book describing where they have moved it to (the upgrade only comes with a 27 page book that isn't all that helpful to me.

As for being able to place, display, and organize my page...its loads better than the 2000 version.

Now, if only I could figure out how to get it to find my old clip art...;)

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Service from Amazon.
I recently purchased 'Frontpage 2003'(the first software item from Amazon) & it came in well packed Amazon box, in original MS sealed box & well before estimataed delivery time (free delivery). I bought other software items from different other websites before & my experience with them had been poor viz.tamperd box seal, handled installation CDs with finger prints, delayed delivery etc etc.
I have been a regular internet shopper for last 5 years & it's been wonderful experience with Amazon.com for every single order that I placed with Amazon. Quality service & low prices at Amazon are certainly 'UNMATCHED'. I would stick to Amazon for future purchases & recommend same to other serious buyers. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I prefer this to Dreamweaver
I've found this newest version of Front Page to be the best Microsoft has ever delivered. It's intuitive, easy to use, has clean HTML and an affordable price. I bought Dreamweaver MX after reading all the reviews about how wonderful it was. It has an easy way of creating rollovers but that's about it as far as I'm concerned. I think FP wins hands down and would certainly recommend it..

1-0 out of 5 stars Amazon.com Stinks
You click on a product to get info

then you get an email saying you have bought it!

I will never shop this stinking company again no 800 number no support.

5-0 out of 5 stars What FrontPage should have been all along
Microsoft finally got this version of FrontPage right. I have uses FP since 97/98 and started using Dreamweaver because of the limitations and "clunkyness" of the old versions. This version however seems to get it right, and I have no problems recommending this to either amature or experienced webmasters.

5-0 out of 5 stars Oh yes this can make large commercial sites
I have used FP since it first came out. I love it. I have 77 sites and a couple of businesses. My average site is fairly large with sometimes 2000 pages and then there are products for sale. Yes Front page can be used for a business however the one problem that is correctly stated by these reviews is that it does not offer the ability to do special graphics such as mouseover effects that can only be made with Dreamweaver or other products if you need fancy graphics you will need another product to produce it. But then again such fanasy websites with script and java often have their own drawbacks such as problems with search engines listing them. This program will do for 99% of your sites and will allow flash presentations.

5-0 out of 5 stars HTML made easy but.....
Front Page is Microsoft's solution to web page creation. It simplifies web pages by giving you three windows. One is the normal view, which gives you word processing type tools. If you are familiar with copy and paste, and changing font colors and sizes, inserting pictures via copy and paste or the insert file, picture, etc method, then that is a giant leap from learning HTML code. No code experience is necessary. That is all in Normal view. If you click the tab on the bottom that says HTML, you instantly see the entire page in HTML. So what you have is the intuitive interface of Microsoft Word etc, and the automatic capability of HTML. If you click on the third tab on the bottom, you see Preview. Preview activates your creation to see what it will look like when published. If you have any active items, like streaming banners, or little cartoon like characters making movements, they will come alive.
A word of caution is worth mentioning. Front Page commands are a bit different in many ways as well. For example when I first learned the program I was frustrated that I could not put type on the following line. It would skip a line, automatically going to double spacing. After doing a lot of digging in the book, I found out that you have to hold down "shift" then press the return-enter button to go down a single line. I don't want to oversimplify the program. Their is a slight learning curve. In a lot of ways it is like a word processor, and in a lot of other ways, it is learning a new language. It follows the usual MSFT learning curve of frustration followed by elation.
So pick up a book and spend some time with the program. After all conquer this one, and you open up the .com world. With many sites offering free web site hosting for the privilege of being able to show banner ads on your site, you can create multiple sites without any monthly charge. The only expense is the annual .com name registration, which is less than ten dollars at GoDaddy.com for example.
So what Front Page does is give you the capability of easily creating web pages (after the slight learning curve) Do you have a business, publish it. What about a social organization, or your network of friends. Interactive sites with discussion boards, that is easy with FP. The sky is the limit.
To take advantage of features like web page hit counters etc, the server you are publishing to must have Front Page extensions installed. Many web host providers have an extension option. After joining you go online and click on the "Install Front Page Extensions" If your web host doesn't have that option you can still use Front Page to your advantage. By creating your web page in normal mode, then clicking on the HTML view, you can take the HTML code, copy and paste it. This gives you creative power in submitting eBay's ads for example. When you use ebay's insertion tool, you simply paste your creation into the description area. When you preview your ad their it is in its full creative glory with colorful fonts, inserted pictures etc. No simple bland black and white text. That is just another example of the new world that opens up to you with Front Page.
I highly recommend the product. Nothing is perfect, but it makes it possible for the rest of us to create stylish professional web pages with minimal effort. Buy it you won't be sorry. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Creative Suite puts Creative juices to work
The Adobe Creative Suite brings many tried, tested and true programs to a new level of functionality and integration. The popular programs, Photoshop, Illustrator, GoLive, Acrobat and InDesign have been redesigned to make users more efficient and streamline the work. The latest addition to the Adobe family, Version Cue, also makes an appearance. Version Cue is a great server program that allows multiple users to edit and update files simultaneously. 5-0 out of 5 stars Designers Need the Apps and the Price is Good
Everything is in here. All of the design apps are on two installer CDs. Any designer -- whether web or print -- has at least a few of the applications in this suite. You only need to decide if the price is right, and if your current upgrades would make the purchase worthwhile.

Buying this suite is the equivalent of a corporate employee owning Microsoft Office. Adobe's name now equals design software. Knowing Adobe's product line is simply required knowledge. Print houses will accept and produce your files without problems, and multiplatform file transfer can be completed with minimum processing time.

For me, I was using a dated version of Illustrator, PageMaker 6.5, Photoshop Elements. The additional programs and new versions of what I had made the purchase a no-brainer. I also primarily use Dreamweaver, but learning GoLive will help me as I meet with clients. Outside of InDesign and GoLive, every application here is the industry standard, and those two programs are strongly coming into their own.

To explain the virtues of each individual application is not necessary. You know the benefits of Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, and GoLive. InDesign might be new to some of the veterans, but it is beyond a replacement for the inferior PageMaker, and is a force of its own.

With the quality increase of InDesign, designers are now able to choose something besides Quark for their page layout application. Including InDesign here made the purchase for me easy. I have no reason now to piecemeal together my software base.

Each application has all of the features that they have when independently purchased.

I fully recommend "Adobe Creative Suites Premium." Designers need these apps, and so your decision is only about price and value.

1-0 out of 5 stars BEWARE OF THIS PRODUCT
I have spent 9 hours in 2 days on the phone with Dell to try to install this piece of s**t. Version Cue will not install nor will photo shop. No 800 number for support from Adobe. Paid for call and recieved many voice ads for products and was told if I need support call at 'top of the hour'. Dell says the problem is in the installer. Adobe Foroums have pointed to the same but no suggestion has worked. Guess I will work on amazon to try to return it for a full refund, it was shipped defective.

1-0 out of 5 stars BE AFRAID! BE VERY AFRAID!
Windows XP users beware! You'll need lots of bug killer with this supposed "upgrade" - especially the GoLive module.

Speaking as a long time user of Adobe software (Photoshop since version 3.0) this is the most bloated and unstable iteration ever. The added goodies in Photoshop CS would be great, if my (quite adequate) Dell Workstation didn't freeze up every other minute.

Most annoying of all is a screen redraw problem most visible in GoLive CS; a problem that makes GoLive essentially unusable. If you plan to use GoLive - most especially if you have an NVidia graphics card - visit Adobe.com and look through the GoLive User Forum BEFORE you buy the CS version. LOTS of good reading there.

Adobe has (reluctantly) admitted the screen redraw problem to be a "bug" that they are "working" on... but jeez! Wouldn't that bug have been far better stomped on BEFORE Adobe CS was released onto loyal, trusting Adobe users??

To sum it up - BUYER BEWARE! Check out the Adobe Forums before you shell out your hard earned for Adobe CS, because that's where you'll get the real truth about real-world use. Download the trial version of CS if you can - maybe it will run for you... but if not, no money lost.

For now, I'm thinking it's back to my previous versions so I can at least get some work done. In fact, it's so bad - I'm beginning to consider getting a MAC! Aaaargh!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm Lovin It
I have had the new Adobe Suite for a few weeks now and I am lovin it. I have been onboard since version 4.0 and I must say that the CS upgrade of Photoshop is the most signifigant ever. I use the RAW plug in with my digital Photos now, more then anything else. RAW and 16 bit editing have changed my workflow forever. The LEns Blur filter, the Photo filters, and the awesome filter gallery are extremly useful too. I do not use Illustrator much, I think that I will use it even less now that Photoshop can type on a path, but I did play with the new 3D tool, it is pretty cool and I can't wait to implement it into my designs. I have no opinion of InDesign, I haven't had the need to use it yet. What I have read about it is that the CS version is the final nail in the coffin for Quark. Go Live is great, I appreciate the Smart Objects, and Adobe has finally cleaned up the code that Go Live writes. At first Iwas peeved that they took out Dynamic editing, but I am okay with it now. I use it side by side with my old copy of Dreamweaver so I can get the best of both worlds. Go Live is more designer friendly.
Version Cue is another can't live without addition. All of the sudden, I am organized. Well I could go on forever about why I love the new suite, Adobe did a great job with this one. If you are a designer or student buy this suite, chances are you are already planning too. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK
I wonder how this junk came to be listed at Amazon. The program installs spy-ware as well as other ad supported programs. Most importantly, Namo does not do its job. It is alot easier to build a website using Dreamweaver or Frontpage. Just dont buy this. If you are thinking about it, then go download the trial version of it and see if you still want it. This is a junk. The worst product I've ever bought at amazon.

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent web authoring tool
WebEditor is a fine tool bundled with good utilities and very good content such as themes that are better than MSFrontpage. If you are more than a beginner when it comes to web authoring or are a quick learner, this is an excellent product at a great price. If you are a novice or want a simple tool to throw up webpages then MSfrontpage *hosted on a server with MSFrontpage server extensions* is an easier tool to use. If you don't have a server with MSFP extensions, then this is a better tool then MSFP which is not too flexible without the extensions.

The tool is very well execute. Although you may miss some of Microsoft's ease-of-use features, it is well organized and, at many things, better than MS frontpage. It also comes with a real manual instead of the lame manual-let that MSFP comes with (plan on paying another $40+ for a decent MSFP manual if you buy that tool.)

I've come across a few crashes but overall, the tool is quite stable for a *.0 rev.

I purchased this tool in order to create a school website that would be hosted on a server without MSFP extensions. I liked it so much that I switched my home page to it and have no plans to ever use MSFP again.

If you want more power with a tad less ease of use than MSFP and at a much better price, this is the tool get.

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have
I have Front Page and Macromedia and both have some major issues.
If you used any of these, Front Page has uploading problems and will not allow you to use MP3 files. Plus you can spot a front page site a mile away (boring).
Macromedia is too hard to use and not user friendly at all.

Namo is the best of both worlds.
-It's easy to use and has allot of great looking templates and utilities. I switched my website file to Namo easily and loving it!
I highly recommend it. ******!

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great tool with so many free utilities
I just bought this product to make a simple website out of it. As soon as I launched it, I found out all the powerful features this webeditor included, and I had to continue build my website to be more professional looking. With the WebBoard, I am now able to keep in touch in my family back where I am from. This is just a great product.

5-0 out of 5 stars A very high quality product
I have created a number of sites using this product. They look very professional, even thought I am not a professional web developer. Well, that is the whole point! It is easy to install, easy to create web sites using site wizard, easy to choose themes, easy to CHANGE themes, has a wysiwyg editor, easy site upload and sync. I was able to easily define the site structure. It easily picks up files in the folder hierarchy, created by other applications ~ like jAlbum that I used to create photo albums. It has never crashed on me so far. I have used WebEditor 5.5 and upgraded to 6.0. Version 6.0 has scripting tool and excellent web-board. I have hosted some silly family forums there too. It also comes bundled with a number of powerful utilities. Checkout their website for detailed feature list. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Adobe has taken GoLive, its Web design and management tool, and improvedits integration with other applications, adding a number of useful extras in theprocess. In addition to the design elements of the program, GoLive 6.0 includessections devoted to Web site management and maintenance, as well as teamcollaboration.

The main working area of the program deliberately looks much like other Adobeapplications, making it easy to move between them. The main editing windowsfloat on the GoLive worktop, with palettes of functions controlling the tools.Users can now drag and stash palette tabs individually at the edge of thescreen.

The key new features of GoLive 6.0 can be divided into three areas. Under thedesign-and-develop category comes greatly improved table handling, with newediting features--particularly selection--and increased control of HTML code.Adobe has also integrated GoLive more closely with Photoshop, Illustrator, andLiveMotion.

Manage functions govern how several people working on same aspect of a sitehandle different versions and revisions. The revision list is a good example, asit offers full details of who made certain changes to what, along with the timethe changes were entered.

Finally, there's the deploy function, for when you finally launch your site. This feature offers new and improved support for WML authoring, writing fordisplay on WAP devices, XML, QuickTime, and more of the growing family of Webstandards.

Overall, GoLive is a worthwhile improvement if you're thinking about upgradingfrom a previous version. For newbies, make sure you're serious about Web sitemanagement, as this is a heavyweight tool. --Simon Williams ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars disappointing-a mistake
Unfortunately, I purchased this program because of Adobe's reputation. Maybe Photoshop, Illustrator and Acrobat are great programs, but adobe has really struck out with golive. it has a clunky interface. the ftp browser hangs on me everytime I upload.
the interface is not intuitive. when I edit pages, strange glitches occur.Shareware programs are easier to use, although not as feature rich as golive. Most of the experienced web designers I have talked to recommend dreamweaver. it looks like I will have to buy Dreamweaver

4-0 out of 5 stars A great web application for designers
If you love photoshop, illustrator, InDesign... you should use GoLive for your webs. Some will say this application is difficult to learn and overburdened with adobe-style tool palettes, and this is fair criticism. If you are a photoshop user and have spent the many hours and weeks it takes to become proficient at using Adobe's GUI, then move to GoLive and you will quickly find yourself at home.

If you consider yourself more a designer than coder, and you like designing with Adobe software, then GoLive will let you work the way you like to work. Also, from version 5.0 to 6.0, the coding compatibility has improved, particularly javascript.

1-0 out of 5 stars A VERY UN-intuitive product!!
THis is the worst of the lot. I had used Adobe's PageMill to make tons of websites but now that I've upgraded everything to OSX on my computer, I thought it would be a good idea to do that with my web design program.
Buzz,...big mistake!!
Go Live is SO complicated, it's impossible for me to put together a website.
I can't seem to figure out anything in this program.
I've been long time user of Photoshop, Illustrator and AfterEffects, but GoLive is destined to go in the round file.

(wastebasket)
Come on Adobe! Put something out there that we can use for web design that doesn't give everyone that uses it a big headache that makes them incapable of producing anything that can be uploaded quickly. Speed is everything! I don't want to spend my life trying to figure out ONE application!!!
PLEASE make it simpler!!!!
No update purchase for me.

3-0 out of 5 stars Much too much of a good thing
If you're a Mac user I presume you have little interest in unneccessary complexity--and GoLive delivers a level of complexity & difficulty that would make Microsoft proud.

If designing web pages is your life this may be what you need. And believe me, it WILL be your life for months after you start using this application. You'll get to know every member of the GoLive support team on a first-name basis.

For the rest of us, please, Adobe, make a GoLive Elements program or bring back PageMill.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worthless. Money better spent elsewhere
The Adobe team has a way of creating complexities for no particular reason. GoLive drowns in its own muli-tier, reverse-logical design. The development team has obviously intended this program to be used by those totally unfamiliar with the concept of straightforward thinking. Every moment using this software is agonizing and frustrating. It boggles the mind to even imagine the possibility of an Adobe team with usability as part of their gameplan. Please stay far away from GoLive. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Very Buggy Application
GoLive CS is a very buggy application. Despite running on a very stable Windows XP system (2.8ghz cpu, 2048mb RAM, 2x WD 7200 80gig HD), GoLive repeatedly freezes forcing you to kill the application from the task manager. Additionally, functions within the app such as FTP Browser will freeze or fail when transferring even benign text files or simple HTML files.

This program is very frustrating, has a number of show stopping bugs that are still waiting to be patched and certainly nothing like the quality we have come to expect from an Adobe product.

This product is terrible and should be removed from store shelves immediately.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great improvement
I realize there are a number of folks who have obviously have issues with this newest version of GoLive. However, my experience has been very good. It's been very stable for me so far, and in my opinion many of the features which have changed deserved to be changed. I am using version 7.02 - you should update right after the initial install.

While some of the changed interface takes some getting used to, I've found I like most of the usage improvements. In a couple of days I was quite comfortable - even with the renaming floating boxes to layers. I don't miss any support for dynamic content since I never used it. I use MenuMachine extend scripts and they worked fine - which is the area that I expected problems in.

I think that new users will have a better time of it with CS than previous versions, some of the annoying usability issues have been fixed in this release. The Adobe developers site has a ton of free full site templates for beginners, it is regrettable that they don't supply some with the software package itself.

I've been using it for hours and hours without any major issues. I've been very pleased with it.

1-0 out of 5 stars GoLive CS 7.01 is my most UNSTABLE application
GoLive CS 7.01 is the most unstable application on my system (100% serious). It crashs when doing very basic things like handling text and using the built in FTP. It crashes all the time. I must admit that version 7.01 is a little more stable than GoLive CS 7.0, but this kind of stablity does not cut it. I had over five GoLive CS 7.01 crashes yesterday (once is too much). GoLive CS 7.01 does nothing for me but cause me rework (constantly) and paranoia of the next impending crash (When will it happen? I promise it will crash). For now I would WARN anyone to steer clear of GoLive CS and wait and see if Adobe is even able to fix this broken or buggy application. The GoLive CS 7.01 code is bad. GoLive CS 7.0 code is even worse.

1-0 out of 5 stars Buggier than Windows 3.1 !!!
Windows Version of Adobe GoLive CS:
This is the buggiest piece of software since Windows 3.1 !!! I've had NO problems with the other programs in the Adobe CS suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, etc.). However, this is so buggy it is useless. Here are some of my issues with this software:

o It becomes sluggish after using it for awhile. I have to close & reopen it for it to work again.

o The "black bar" functionality, which is critical for creating sites, doesn't always work! I've seen other reviews where other people have the same problem. It makes adding web pages ungodly tedious.

o The tool tips are not even correct.

I received this with the rest of the Adobe CS suite. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to buy another web site authoring tool because this program is so buggy that it is unusable.

Alex Collins

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Even Close!!!
I agree with the above listed comment! Adobe has renamed key functions like floating boxes to layers and rearranged the locations of common tools found in previous versions. Adobe must have decided that after pulling this stunt with Photoshop 6 it was GoLive's turn. What are they thinking? Being a web designer the last thing I want to do is relearn a software package that I have been using forever. The only reason I am giving GoLive two stars is the new intergraded PDF functions that should be included in all of Adobe's software. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Web Design Software For Most People and Businesses
This is great software and easy to understand and use. I have Dreamweaver and Adobe GoLive and I easily use NetObjects Fusion 7 over 95% of the time...it is simply faster and easier to use than the latter and a much MUCH better buy. Product support is excellent and there are several sites where you can find all sorts of components and add-ons for free or very inexpensive. In the time it takes to just START to learn Dreamwever or GoLive you can have your site up and running with Fusion 7. Fusion 7 is also a great improvement over Fusion MX with the ability to change site styles within limitless pages of your site for different and customized looks. The Photo Gallery builder in Fusion 7 is far superior to the one in Adobe Photoshop 7! Before I purchased Fusion I was just a photographer and graphic designer. Now I can offer my clients web design as well. You will like it and actually USE IT!

5-0 out of 5 stars EASY TO USE Design simple or complex sites GREAT SUPPORT
This is the very best web-design software I have used. Very easy to understand visual system with great tutorials for the most basic beginner. I had a preliminary "practice site" done in a couple of hours and a 20 page completed site published to the web the next day.

I have since published numerous sites with NetObjects Fusion, the largest of which contains tons of photos and over 200 pages and I manage it with ease with Fusion 7.

The Photo Gallery builder is great - and you can use lots of included SiteStyles to build your site. You also can edit these Styles to create your own unique styles with your own custom buttons, menus, etc. Changing colors of objects and backgrounds is a breeze - done with a click of the mouse!

The support system for this software is the best of any I own - There is a message board staffed with professionals with answers to just about any question - but if you don't find your answer there just post your question and most questions are answered in depth with links to more info. or tutorials in 20-30 minutes, usually an hour tops.

What Photoshop did for photography, NetObjects Fusion 7 has done for web design - only Fusion 7 is 100 times easier to learn and use.

You will not be disappointed and you will not outgrow NetObjects. I have just previewed new features in 7.5 and it looks like it will just get better and better.

Don't pay an overpriced web-designer - Build Your Own site - you will be much happier.

1-0 out of 5 stars This is the worst program ever written for web authoring
I've been using this programs since release 2
I bought 2 3 4 5 and 7 and have recently updated with
the latest patches and STILL its got more bugs than an anthill
I've just trashed it

it totally refuses to even import single pages that that display fine in IE6 ... pages it created in the same version of itself !!!

It refuses to even import its own .nod project files created just 12 months ago

I've now lost 4 entire web sites because I assumed having backups of this things project files would keep them safe

they cant or wont provide fixes and despite 7 attempts to get them to stop they keep spamming my email address

avoid this company and its projects like the plague

try dreamweaver it may be more complicated but at least it doesnt keep trashing your work

it took these people 6 releases to even get the HTML

command to work correctly

just amazingly bad in every respect for anything other than simple 1 or 2 page sites with nothing on them

5-0 out of 5 stars 5 Stars!
When I began looking for webdesign software, of course I considered "Frontpage" and "Dreamweaver," but both were not within our budget. Not only is NetFusion less expensive than them, but, I can't believe why this isn't a more popular web design program. I have a very basic understanding of html, but, you do NOT need knowledge of html or CSS to design cool (or, if you prefer, "kewl") pages.

The interface is intuitive and simple. Take a few minutes to tinker with it. . .and you'll see that you don't need to read the entire manual. If you have any trouble with the program, which I doubt, the online support has the answers, as do a few books about earlier versions of the program.

This is one of my favorite software programs. Bravo, NetFusion!

2-0 out of 5 stars I Hate This Program!
I bought this program based on the reviews that it recieved on Amazon.com, but I wish I would have investigated further! The program is easy to use and the graphics are different. But, While working on my website with this program I lost weeks worth of work because of some glitch in the programming. The first time I lost evrything that I saved. Everything was just gone when I opened it the next time. After starting over from scratch, I lost everything a second time when it saved all my pages as My Home page. I lost my photo galleries and everything else! I do not reccomend this for some one with a low tolerance for frustration! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Don't forget to factor in manuals to the final price.
I grew up on Adobe products. They used to include great manuals and tutorials. Now I have paid more and received less. I am trying to learn how to use GoLive but the online manual doesn't make a whole lot of sense. How come a printed manual isn't included? Oh, I have to pay more for it? How come I seem to be paying for printing costs then? Customer support? To get real help I'll have to pay for it. I used Adobe Premiere for Mac but that product got abandoned. I will not buy another Adobe product until they either give more or charge less. If you are getting started with web design I would suggest going somewhere else. That being said... Illustrator and Photoshop are both still great products and the upgrades were easy for me to understand (probably because the last versions I had included a printed manual and tutorials). Let's face it, if it wasn't for OS X, I would have just stuck to the older versions of Photoshop, Illustrator, and PageMaker and bought Dreamweaver instead. Photoshop CS - Classroom in a Book = $45. Illustrator CS - Classroom in a Book = $31.50. GoLive CS - Classroom in a Book = $45. InDesign - Classroom in a Book = $45. Acrobat Pro - Classroom in a Book = $45. $211.50 in manuals right there. Its a good product but it keeps on costing you in time and money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent design software
No software is perfect, but Adobe comes as close to well designed, intuitive, user-friendly software as I have ever seen. Photoshop and Illustrator have always been the industry standards, and here they are both improved - particularly the digital photographer will be happy with the new photo filters in Photoshop CS, and the much improved file browser and the new filter gallery are also excellent additions. As far as publishing programs are concerned, InDesign is a greatly more intuitive program than Quark at a fraction of its cost, and because its pallets function much the same as in Photoshop and Illustrator, it is an easily acquired program if you are familiar with Adobe software.

I use these programs on a Mac OS X platform and for me they are very stable. I have had none of the crashing problems or tech support difficulties that another reviewer of the Adobe Creative Suite has had. For anyone using many design programs at once, enough RAM is always a requirement for smooth operation. But if you have enough RAM and a Mac platform, you should have no significant problems at all. PCs crash more by their nature because their operating system is not as stable as a Mac's, but still Adobe products are not only more intuitive than Microsoft's (for example), they also will crash far less on a PC than most other types of software (like Microsoft's).

Photoshop and Illustrator have always defined the state of the art for photo editing and raster graphic software respectively, and here Adobe is carrying on the tradition. InDesign looks as though it is fast replacing Quark in the publishing industry as well, so if you are a creative professional you will be more than happy in the end to own the Adobe Creative Suite. What else would you use?

1-0 out of 5 stars i used to like adobe...
...then i needed to contact their technical support because illustrator crashes when you try to label layers. they go out of their way to make it as difficult as possible. no email support. instead you have to ring an area code 206 number and wait until some overworked undertrained person tells you to reinstall the product or the operating system... very helpful. just like their software.

i'll look elsewhere the next time i look for an illustration package or a graphics editor. and i won't even bother discussing their inept page layout program.

4-0 out of 5 stars glad I got it
I just bought it off of AMazon a week ago (which is the lowest price for the full version I have been able to find so far) and IM glad I did. For new people to the software, you may wanna stay with your older version for a bit and just get used to it before shelling out the money, but if your serious about design and making your workflow work to the max for you, this new collection is a must. Tight integration and the help of the version Cue additional file managment software will help even the messiest designer keep thier files inline. If design is what you want to do, then theres no better package to get. Ive been using Photoshop for years and Illustrator and Indesign for a while now and this is defenitly an inovation in design.
I gave it 4 stars due to small problems I had installing the whole suite at once. I have never had the problem with anything else and it was frustrating. But after that its smooth saling. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Can't beat it for anywhere near the price
after using frontpage (on windoze), dreamweaver, and trying golive I thought I'd give this a try. Within a few minutes I had a very nice, original site I'm actually proud of. 1-0 out of 5 stars Learning Organic Chemistry While Drunk Would Be Easier
I am 3/4 the way through the Classroom in a Book on Adobe GoLive CS. To say that the workbook and the software is NOT user-friendly is a gross understatement. It's probably easier to read a 1,000 page book on HTML, JAVA, etc. programming that slog through this software. And I haven't even installed it. Complexity does not imply sophistication, at least not in this situation. This is Rube Golberg at its worst. WIth hundreds of pop up windows and subwindows, none of it intuitive, one suspects that the company geeks had fun creating this darling of theirs without considering the consumer.

This is definitely not a software for a novice.

1-0 out of 5 stars don't believe the marketing hype!
I'm a GoLive user from way back, when the product was called CyberStudio and the company that wrote it was called GoLive (before Adobe bought them out). GoLive got me through my early days of web design and development, when I just wasn't interested in learning code, and I got some pretty good, basic interactive web sites publsihed. The previous version, 6, was pretty good, but had some toolbar display glitches and very lame CSS (cascading style sheet) support. And as a loyal Adobe customer (I mean sucker) I forked out the one-seventy for the Upgrade version of CS, mostly to fix those display glitches and to be able to use CSS as I have now been doing in other sites for a while using Dreamweaver MX. Well, after installing GoLive CS I am extremely disappointed with this release, it's a total waste of money. Not only are there currently a miriad of other display glitches, code problems, freezes, crashes and bugs, which Adobe have yet to fix, but I also find their new CSS features to be extremely complex. Also despite what the marketing hype says, the Layout View does not allways display CSS styles as they will look in a web browser, which leads to even more frustration and confusion when trying to style a page. It's hit or miss and I've got better things to do than guess what it's going to look like.

Another reviewer of the upgrade version points out that in this version GoLive has eliminated the dynamic content technology that was in verson 6, but which remains in competitive programs like Dreamweaver.

If you're using GL6, at least wait for the bug-fixing 7.01, but check indendent product reviews first, such as MacWorld's Feb 04 review, and the Adobe GoLive user duscussions page (www.adobeforums.com) to see what other problems people are having before buying. If you are looking for a new web program, go with Macromedia's Dreamweaver instead. I'm a total convert, and their Contribute program is excellent software that your clients can use to update and maintain their own sites.

Macworld Buying advice summary (of this CS version) says... But while the program offers many advanced features for bulding and managing web sites, it's lackluster support for current CSS techniques and its sometimes complex and overwhelming interface are serious drawbacks."

Other Adobe CS apps like Illustrator and Photoshp are remarkable, refined products. GoLive CS is a dud, right out of the box.

2-0 out of 5 stars Poor amateurish job.
Yeah! If you are too lazy to read VERY GOOD documentation that comes with FCP4 and have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what NLE systems are, it is for you. Technically it is very poor, amateurish video. They should learn themselves how to use Final Cut , not to teach other. All recordings have a jumpy unbalanced and unabridged audio. In the first two lessons guys probably have played with some effects, to figure out what Final Cut is. The text on the package states that he is "professional editor", LOL. I would not be trust him to edit my vacation footage, the word "professional" n our time has many interpretations .
In the second lesson there is missing sub-lesson.
Video jumpy and poorly synchronized with sound. In some places it looks like a jock, the lips moves in almost second after the word was sounded.
The lessons are full with common bla-bla-bla, near third of lessons are "introductions" of any sort.
I found that FREE lessons on AVID website with approximation to FCP are more helpful AND WORLDS BEYOND PROFESSIONALLY.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy Quick Start to a Very Deep Program
Anyone using or wanting to use Final Cut Pro 4.0 should seriously consider investing in Magnet Media's tutorial series Inside Final Cut Pro. The DVD is packed with live video demonstrating step-by-step the basic operations, interface navigation and advanced techniques you'll want to use whether you are a hobbyist or professional videographer. I found the samples to be pertinent and the instruction straight forward.

The Video begins with an overview of the interface. Despite the fact that I've used FCP 1.25 through 3.0, I found new insights into how to better utilize FCP and its core features with this section. The lessons are taught by Evan Schectman, a professional editor and the founder of Outpost Digital, and I found him to be warm and without the arrogance and elitism of many editor/teachers. I understoood most lessons the first time through. Others, such as the concept of "nesting" and the Pro-audio features I have watched a few times through. Again, this is another benefit of this type of learning. You never have to reread anything. You simply replay the lesson as often as you need to. The learning feedback is simple and painless.

One tip-despite the fact that the DVD only runs on a Mac with a dvd drive-the files on the DVD are readable on a PC equipped with a DVD drive and quicktime (although trying to figure out which files are which can be a challenge) - I used this methed often to following along with Evan when things got complicated - worked like a charm.

Some other features covered are color-correction (fantastic overview with practical applications) compositing and animation, for those that wish to stay exclusively in FCP with out straying to the likes of After Effects or Combustion - Introductions to Soundtrack and Livetype, both new applications within the FCP 4.0 suite.

Overall I was impressed and thoughly pleased with my experience with Magent Media's Training. I believe this is the future of self-education in the video editing realm. Books can be cumbersome and time consuming. With Magnet medias Inside Final Cut Pro, you have an all-in-one instructor on a disc you can pull out for a refresher anytime you wish. And you never have to leave your house to get it!

-Craig

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Training & Exceptional Value
This is an efficient and comprehensive way to get up to speed on Final Cut Pro 4. The instructor is clear and thorough and the examples are tremendously helpful. Best of all - it includes 7 hours of taining.

I learned more with this Inside Editing DVD than I have in many courses and weekend workshops I've taken.

I highly recommend this training DVD for anyone - from beginner to advanced - who wants to become a master at Final Cut Pro 4. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Dreamweaver UltraDev is an enhanced version of Macromedia'sleading Web-authoring tool. The standout additional feature is dynamiccontent, which is when pages have live links to databases or othertypes of server-side scripting. Most products of this type requireextensive manual coding, but UltraDev has an extensive library ofbuilt-in scripts, called Server Behaviors, that allow even moderatelysophisticated sites to be built with little or no code. Version 4 lookssimilar to its predecessor, but includes important changes that make itmore complete and easier to use.

One of the best new features is the split code and design view, whichlets you edit either the code or the visual design and see changesinstantly echoed between them. There is also built-in security, so youcan create login procedures and password-protected sites. Finally, theLive Objects wizards automatically create page elements to handlecommon tasks, such as a master/detail page set, or forms to insert andupdate records.

UltraDev supports three kinds of server-side scripting: Active ServerPages, JavaServer Pages, and Cold Fusion. Unfortunately, it does notsupport PHP, which is popular on Linux and Unix servers, althoughbecause UltraDev is extensible, there may be some third-party add-ins.The features for the three models are similar but not identical, although in every case there is excellent database support. Its greatstrength is that you can focus on designing your pages and let UltraDevhandle the data access code. You can even display live data at designtime, making it easier to get exactly the right appearance.

Everything in Dreamweaver is also in UltraDev, so this is the idealpackage for Web authors who need to add dynamic content with a minimumof fuss.

About Fireworks 4:

Fireworks is a dedicated Web graphics application. You can create bothvector and bit-map images, optimize them for Web pages, and addnumerous special effects for export direct to HTML.

The starting point is a familiar range of drawing and painting tools, such as shapes, lines, brushes, pens, and selection tools. In thedefault vector mode they create editable, scalable objects, and inbit-map mode they paint pixels. Fireworks supports layers andmasks--virtual overlaid surfaces that you can edit independently, enablingdesigners to achieve a wide range of effects. For example, you can varyopacity and blending to fine-tune the final appearance. Other Fireworkspanels include color, stroke, fill, and effects. There is also alibrary panel where you can store graphic elements for reuse.

A key feature for Web designers is optimization. Fireworks offersmaximum control over the critical tradeoff between quality and size. Atwo-up and four-up view lets you compare the quality of original andoptimized versions, using techniques such as reducing color depth andremoving unused colors. The software offers strong support for GIF,JPEG, and PNG image formats. Fireworks also lets you create animationthat is exported as an animated GIF. It will also generate JavaScriptto produce image rollovers and, in this new version, pop-up menus. There is great support for hotspots and slices, techniques for mappingor dividing an image to support HTML features. Integration withMacromedia's Dreamweaver 4 is better than ever in version 4 ofFireworks. Dreamweaver UltraDev 4/Fireworks Studio combines the twoproducts at a lower price. You can export to Dreamweaver--or launchFireworks directly from Dreamweaver--edit an image, and save it backwith all Fireworks-specific information preserved. --TimAnderson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply THE best web dev combination
DreamWeaver Rocks. Fireworks Rocks. Together they make for a spectacular web design/development combination.

Dreamweaver is packed with features for the beginner through advanced web developer; it's easy and intuitive to use. It may take you a while to learn all the capabilities, but with each successive feature you discover and master, the development process becomes easier and faster.

Fireworks is the best in class web graphics software. It integrates very well with DreamWeaver. Creating animated GIFs is a snap, as is image optimization (file compression), image map creation, and exploring full tables (HTML and all!) for use in DreamWeaver.

You simply cannot go wrong with this package. Photoshop still has its place, but if you focus exclusively on the web and don't need to do exquisite image editing this bundle is all you need.

5-0 out of 5 stars Simply Awesome
I've been doing web development since 1996 and, to be honest, I fought tooth and nail against giving up Windows Notepad as my web development tool of choice. Microsoft FrontPage really ruined web development software for me and I pretty much vowed to avoid such applications in the future. Fortunately, my boss insisted that I use Dreamweaver and even sent me off to classes to learn the nuts and bolts. And now I'm hooked.

Dreamweaver is simply awesome and I can't imagine ever going back. Whether your a novice or professional, you'll come to love Dreamweaver's simple interface and ability to tackle otherwise tedious tasks -- such as Cascading Style Sheets, tables, layers -- with ease. Adding Flash, Shockwave or Java is as simple as it can possibly be. I took classes on Dreamweaver, but only because my boss insisted. The software is pretty easy to learn, though those with web development experience will have a fuller understanding (and respect) for the capabilities of the product.

The single most powerful part of Dreamweaver is the use of templates, which allow you to use the same look and feel across multiple pages and have all those pages updated when you make changes to the template. This alone will save you hours!

Another great thing about Dreamweaver is that creates clean HTML. This is something that any developer who has ever had to edit the HTML directly will respect -- especially if you've ever tried to make sense of FrontPage HTML nonsense.

Finally, the FTP application in Dreamweaver is outstanding. It keeps track of every page, graphic, link, etc. in your site and any change to any of them is cascaded through the entire site -- automatically updating links where necessary. With a simple click of a button your site is uploaded to your webserver.

There are so many features I haven't covered, but with the little I have this product is worth the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Stupidly Discontinued!
Get Macromedia Dreamweaver 4. They have turned this once great web design package into a hybrid cross of something that looks like Netscape/Flash and called it Dreamweaver MX 2004.

I used Dreamweaver MX 2004 for a month, uninstalled it and went back to Dreamweaver 4. It really is that terrible and the work space is terribly cluttered making it very hard to work within.

Bottom Line -- Get Macromedia Dreamweaver 4 instead if you can find it. Macromedia Dreamweaver 4 is a very good web design package that knocks Dreamweaver MX 2004 for ten. You will simply hate Dreamweaver MX 2004 when you install it on your system. I nearly barfed after a month of using that *new* completely hostile and non-user friendly piece of unstable and slow excuse for a web design software program.

Get this instead ... if you can find it...

5-0 out of 5 stars Review for Dreamweaver 5
-This review is for Dreamweaver 5- I absolutely love this software. I had Adobe Go Live but I never seemed to take to it like I did with Dreamweaver. Once it was installed within a day, I had made several webpages. As I continued to use it I learned more and more intuitively without needing much guidance from the manual. As a user you can create your webpages visually or in code mode, this makes it a great option for anyone no matter what your skill - it can be adjusted to suit your needs. You can learn and develop your webpage skills as much or as little as you like. You do not need to be intimidated by it's high price. You can learn it and the cost is well worth the output. ...
I don't have to look for anything else, I have hit paydirt with this program! If you are using Front Page or any other visual interface for ease, you know that you are trapped into a forced format, get this program and you will understand the freedom of control without fear!
