Waste of Money
This program is the worst I have ever tried. The instructions are confusing and half the information you need to set it up isn't even there. The program doesn't work like it says it does.

No Technical Support
I found this program to work well in setting up an e-commerce site, after overcoming the associated problems. There are 3 different type of E-Commerce sites you can set up, one uses their own (Boomerang Software) credit card processing. I feel they try to steer you to use this as they give no help for the other 2 and give no directions at all in how to implement SSL security even though they say you must use it. Every time I ran into a problem I was left with no help as every call or e-mail to the Boomerang Technical Support Group met with no answers and only more questions. Once they even laughed at me over the phone because they didn't know how to fix the problem I was encountering with an ASP and they told me I would have to rewrite the code myself to fix the problem. So if you are a novice then you should look somewhere else or make sure you have a software savy friend to help. ... Read more

Excellent!
Drumbeat 2000 is great, just great! It has incredible features, plus its really easy to use, even for people that know nothing, I loved the template feature, which allows you to build the site around your template without having to do it again and again, bu unlike other editors Drumbeat is incredibly customizable what makes it a lot less annoying to use and compared to GoLive or Dreamweaver, Drumbeat is way superior. So let Drumbeat 2000 be your next (or first) Web Page Creator!

I love Drumbeat!
I have been using Drumbeat 2000 eCommerce edition for approximately 6 months now and absolutely love it! The "Starting Points" (pre-written website applications used for examples of various aspects of the app) really hammer home the basics. Macromedia has a very handy online database of tips & tricks for using Drumbeat as well. One thing that many 'hardcore' ASP/HTML coders will miss is the ability to view the source code as you go; this is only accessible after publishing the various pages and viewing source in another editor or in something like notepad. The shopping cart is a cinch to setup, and the overall layout of Drumbeat is very comfortable. I have created an online record store as well as 3 other sites - using Drumbeat for everything but image manipulation. This is a good application and a dream for people who's strength lies more in the design than the coding. You can lay everything out exactly as you want, right click on the elements and add Java/VB-Script to them to assign various interactions. Piece of Cake!

I love Drumbeat!
I bought Drumbeat 2000 eCommerce edition back in November of 1999. I have since used this application to create approximately 10 data driven web applications and websites - in 1/4 of the time that it would have taken me to create them in Visual InterDev! The user interface is laid out very well - a very comfortable environment to work in. (One note on this - you need to have your screen resolution set at 1024x768 to have adequate room to view all of the elements) The "drag & drop" javascript "contracts" and "site elements" make creating dynamic pages a snap. After you run through a couple of the "Starting Points" (pre-constructed mini-web applications/sites with explanations on how to use them)you will get the hang of what elements do what and how they can interact with the other pages elements. Using Drumbeat 2000 eCommerce, I was able to create an online music retailer site - with full checkout / shopping cart functionality - in less than two months! I was amazed! One thing that some will find odd about Drumbeat is that there isn't any way to view the HTML/ASP within the application. You must first publish the pages to your web server (IIS or Personal) and then open the pages in another HTML application or in notepad. I found this mildly irrating at first, but since Drumbeat does almost all of the coding for you - you can just go with what it has propogated.

Great, but needs a rework
I bought the Drumbeat 2000 E-commerce package last August. To put it mildly, I was disappointed. The creation of non-"e-commerce" pages are fairly easy to do after you get an understanding of Drumbeat's inheritance. Don't be mislead by the "easy-to-use" statements on the package. If you've worked with a lot of Microsoft products - beware - this isn't like any of Microsoft's applications. (Not that that's bad.)Nothing will be familiar to you. You will have to learn a whole new vocabulary - Drumspeak. When I got this it was made by Elemental Software. When I was notified that Macromedia had purchased it, I was very hopeful that the problems would be ironed-out. Dreamweaver is an awesome program. Now, I'll be looking for Drumbeat to inherit the excellence of Macromedia's products. They have always had great documentation and support for their products. They are truly easy to learn. The present Drumbeat version by Macromedia is exactly the same as the Elemental Software version. All that was changed was the box. The next upgrade promises to be the best version of Drumbeat. I'll wait for that one.

Short on literature
Drumbeat e-commerce is a powerful e-commerce and asp design tool but unfortuantely comes with very little, not to say too little literature on how to put the aspects of the site together. The asp elements are well explained but the e-commerce tasks and instructions come in a brief guide that doesn't answer all questions relative to building an e-commerce application. If it wasn't for this lack of instructions in the user's guide, which Microsoft is well known for, I would have given the software five stars. A comprehensive set of tools for the Microsoft fan
I you love Microsoft products (like me) because they are simple, ready to use, intuitive, ... you might be disappointed by Site Server Commerce Edition 3.0. Don't think you will be able to use all of its features if you're not a software engineer. Don't even think you can do it if you never installed NT or SQL server on a machine. Site Server Commerce Edition 3.0 is a package. It contains products bought by Microsoft from other companies and products specifically developped with integration in mind. Integration with Operating Systems from Microsoft (client and server OS). Integration with database engines (SQL server essentially, even if Oracle is supported). Integration with mail services (Exchange as a server, Outlook as a client). Developement tools (Visual Interdev, Visual Studio). If you know all of these products you will not only love Site Server, you will love it. If you don't know these products and technologies but you simply have an opportunity to use Site Server 3.0 (because somebody uses it in your company), ask for Site Analyst. It's a wonderful and powerful tool bought by Microsoft that allow you to make an impressive report about a web-site. I used it once for copyright holders. They asked me to track potential users of their materials on the net. Site analyst did a terrific job! If you don't need integration with banking services. If you don't want to build online shops. You just need to buy Site Server 3.0. You will miss the wonderful "pipeline" paradigm used to integrate e-commerce composants. Microsoft is investing a lot on Biztalk, now. "Like a Glove..."
Hmmm...I've been using this product for a couple of months now, and really like it. Got me set up quickly with it's templates, and is pretty simple to use. I bought it because I've used their Submit Wolf product to get other sites submitted fast, and used their other services for the "pay to play" engines. The checks for last month alone paid for everything...Works for me...

eComm Store
I purchased ecomm store and I don't like it. One thing is I didn't know that Trellian made this product until I received it. I thought it was made by trendmaster. I have a demo from Trellian it's one of there products and I don't like it either. Ecomm store freezes up, causing me to shut down many times when using it. Where's the beef?!
After reading all the above reviews. I had to put my 2 cents worth in. I have used versions 4 & 5 annnnd, I like it! It's a very fast way to deploy a site.
Dreamweaver is very very good but is for more advanced users. NoF is a great way to introduce someone to site building. I really enjoy using it. Some Easy Advice: Go slow at first, read the tutorial and build a business site per the instructions. Two days you will be up and running, and in two months you'll have it down. Happy web spinning! :>)

NetObjects 5.0, buggy at first...
NetObjects is a very good software package that is extremey user freindly and at the same time offers a truckload of features. You can make everything at the click of a button. I don't think you will find an easier program to make a comprehensive website out there.

But out-of-the box its very buggy. the HTML doesn't work in Netscape and other pains but the good news is that NetObjects has fixed this all! Version 5.02a is now availible, its stable, HTML is fixed ans its faster. There really isn't anything to complain about anymore. Just download the upgrade and install the free upgrade from NetObjects.com before you start building your site.

This program is so easy I did'nt even look at the manual or help function once... It is just so straigt forward. Usually programs that are easy don't offer the control, but in this area this program also exels, you have complete control over the HTML code, if you want to... So when you finally learn more about HTML this program is still very usable.

No! Bad Bad
Software tools are supposed to make things easier, right? If you agree, than stay away from Fusion 5.0. My husband and I bought Fusion 5.0, installed it, worked with it for 2 very frustrating weeks, than uninstalled it.

If you have an earlier version of Fusion, stick with it. If you are looking for a new tool to build your website with, stay away from Fusion all together.

Run away from 5.0!
We bought several copies of 5.0 ... for our little company intranet, and were horrified to discover that only one person could edit the NOD files. Ever. If we wanted, we could buy the version that would allow four users to edit the same NOD ..., but if five of us needed to edit it on occasion we had to go to the next level. .... This was a no-brainer. We are not web-jockies, but we bought Dreamweaver. Too hard. We went back to NetObjects, but used a previous version - 4.0. To the folks at NetObjects: Greed (and excessive vanity) goeth before the fall, folks, and there simply is no excuse for this. Not only that, but friends of mine that had recommended NetObjects products for years warned me that NetObjects 5.0 causes irreparable corruption to the NOD file, and complete loss of the site, unless considerable levels of backups were made. I don't have time for this, and I will not be buying the upgrades for this product in the future. We are all stocking up on 4.0. This is the height of stupidity in software marketing. What a pity because 4.0 was one of the best, easiest to use web tools in the industry. ... Read more

E-Business in a Box is great and has met my web hosting needs. I could not believe what was all included when i decided to purchuse the E-Business in a Box. This is my first time to start a web site and I did not know exactly how to get my business online. E-Business in a Box made it simple with the web design and hosting for 12 months included. This will allow me to get familiar with having my Business online with the one time cost of [money]. I am so glad to have found a product and a company like Ci Host to make this process as easy as possible!!

CI Host did not fulfill their contract with our Company
Our saga is long and drawn out. We purchased "E-Business in a Box" on 4-19-02 and were supposed to be up and running in 7 to 10 days. Our store finally became functional on 9-12-02 although there had not been any customization of the store as their sales information stated was to be provided. The entire store was an out-of-the-box, here-ya-go, you-figure-it-out setup.

Our main problem, we later found out, is the turnover rate of the employees at CI Host. Our original web designer that we met left CI Host and for some reason our account was put in the "done" pile. Nearly everyone we talked to would be gone within the month so our complaints never got addressed properly. Once we finally got someone to listen to us and try to address our problems, our lawyer sent them a letter at our request to cover our butts to indicate that they were not fulfilling their contract. At that point, all work stopped dead in its tracks and our web site sat there for the last 5 months of our original 12 month hosting contract.

To top it off, when the year contract was up, they sent us a renewal e-mail which I replied to stating that we were not renewing with them. They took $300 out of our checking account anyway and we are currently trying to get that money back.

Something's Fishy Here...

Great Product and Great Support
I just wanted to take some time out to first of all thank StoreFront for a great product! I am starting my second (and third) store, and I am amazed at how much faster I can get everything in working order and up and running! The learning curve was a little steeper than normal, but once you get over that, it is a lot easier to work with!

The StoreFront newsgroup was a great help! I couldn't have made site without it! Storefront support has been great too! Angie

Another fake review posted by LaGarde.
If you believe that real users posted all of the great fake reviews then maybe you should invest in StoreFront. I once clicked on the "5452554543532 (see more about me)" link and it went back to a guy named Bob LaGarde who happens to be the owner of the company. What a jackass! Who does that? Goes in and puts postings of how great his company and his products are and then doesn't cover up his tracks. I think Amazon needs to remove this company's product from their website for unethical use of the rating system. It is people like this Bob LaGarde that give the industry a bad name. By the way, I checked out their demo and if you want the real story, the people who posted how horrible the software and support is are pretty accurate.

Worst shopping cart and support there is!
I spent over a month trying to get this program to work with my software. When I would try to preview the cart, nothing would show up. I had entered nearly my entire inventory. When I called tech support, they said there was a problem with how I set it up and to delete everything I had entered. I started over and entered only a couple of items and it still would not work. I tried to get help from tech support, but it was useless. They did not know how to help and their response time was awful. They refused to give me a refund on the program. I had purchased it through Amazon.com and luckily, they refunded my money. If I were thinking of buying a shopping cart program, I would stay away from this one.

A $170.99 HEADACHE
First off, I did not buy this product myself (thank goodness). I was asked by an associate to help set up this new "e-commerce software", because I'm somewhat computer savvy. Everything I could say about this product has already been said by others. Those that say it's great.....I just don't believe you (do you own shares in this company?). If you do buy it, have lots of patients with both the software and the tech support......you'll need it. We eventually took it back, exchanging it for something that only cost about $50.00. It worked like a dream, there was just no comparison. Expensive is not always best and that's certainly true in this case.

Terrible package
Thats what I have to say.I am an ASP Programmer and have been building websites for over 2 years now.I got this package so it could help me provide readymade solutions in shoppingcart,shipment calculations,tax etc. This package has a very high learning curve.Inspite of being in ASP I had a lot of difficulty finding my way through this package for solutions I was looking for.The documentation which comes with this package is very sketchy. Being a programmer and on top of that spending money for a ready made solutions program but still finding it very difficult to move thro....you get a picture I guess of what I mean. I bought the SQL Server option with the pack and then I found that the SQL Option is purely meant as an interface format for the application.No SQL Database comes with the package. I just could not find out thro their documentation how to import the sql database developed by me into the application - kept getting errors. I emailed them and as of today (three weeks) I have yet to receive a reply. The support for this pack is sketchy,vague and not informative enough to help you to a solution.There is a newsgroup where other customers submit their problems , but there are few solutions offered and the range of problems indicates to me that people dont get their solutions on time or never.

Surprisingly I find the negative reviews for this product being taken off periodically, which creates doubts in my mind about the clean image of amazon.com. ... Read more

No Control
This is a great product if the company using it wants limited control over, not just design, but also functionality.I bought this product withthe assumption that it would help me to better design and control myecommerce sight and as the book tells it, grow.The control is primarily aplace called www.ecplace.com. This product should be advertised as anecommerce interface to a third party vendor to market your ecommerce sight. When attempting to use the created product I found this ecplace sitecontrols the transactions.Also, the enquiry form was actually atwww.ecplace.com, even though while building the site or reading the bookmakes no mention that the product is sharing pages with a company on thenet. I give this software a very low mark for the fact that it should beadvertised as an interface and not a true ecommerce production tool. Smells of follow on expenses that small or new businesses doesn't need.Iwould stay clear of it.

totally brilliant
I contacted a few web developers to set up an e-commerce web site with my current company and received quotes ranging in the thousands!

I was then recommended ecBuilder, and it has been excellent for me! for under $ I was prompted through 12 screens from company information to catalog itemsto what design template and colour scheme I would like to pick. In a shortafternoon I had my 100 catalog items set up with shopping cart etc. tostart selling. I loved the fact that the SSL security was provided with theproduct and hosted by the manufacturer. I have finally been using myscanner at home, and updating my catalog items and pictures regularly. Inone click I can simply change the price of one item to a sale item! verydynamic and I totally recommend this product to anyone who wants to get onthe e-commerce train!

I hear that their new version ecBuilder Pro 4.5supports real time transactions and up to 5000 catalog items and I will beupgrading very soon.

I am also able to export my ecOrderdesk into mycontact manager Maximizer 5.0 in turn keeping up good customer relations!
