No Terminal Services In This Edition
Be forewarned if you are wanting to use this as an application server. The Terminal Services included in this edition are limited to two users and will NOT run in Application Mode. Microsoft claims this limited for security purposes, but you can do this on their full blown product, so I think it is more for $ purposes (they want more). As far as the product goes, the value is pretty good. You get an Exchange server, POP3 mail connector (this distributes email from a POP3 account to the proper Exchange account), fax sharing software, and Outlook 2003. DO NOT BUY THIS JUNK
I wonder how this junk came to be listed at Amazon. The program installs spy-ware as well as other ad supported programs. Most importantly, Namo does not do its job. It is alot easier to build a website using Dreamweaver or Frontpage. Just dont buy this. If you are thinking about it, then go download the trial version of it and see if you still want it. This is a junk. The worst product I've ever bought at amazon.

Excellent web authoring tool
WebEditor is a fine tool bundled with good utilities and very good content such as themes that are better than MSFrontpage. If you are more than a beginner when it comes to web authoring or are a quick learner, this is an excellent product at a great price. If you are a novice or want a simple tool to throw up webpages then MSfrontpage *hosted on a server with MSFrontpage server extensions* is an easier tool to use. If you don't have a server with MSFP extensions, then this is a better tool then MSFP which is not too flexible without the extensions.

The tool is very well execute. Although you may miss some of Microsoft's ease-of-use features, it is well organized and, at many things, better than MS frontpage. It also comes with a real manual instead of the lame manual-let that MSFP comes with (plan on paying another $40+ for a decent MSFP manual if you buy that tool.)

I've come across a few crashes but overall, the tool is quite stable for a *.0 rev.

I purchased this tool in order to create a school website that would be hosted on a server without MSFP extensions. I liked it so much that I switched my home page to it and have no plans to ever use MSFP again.

If you want more power with a tad less ease of use than MSFP and at a much better price, this is the tool get.

A must have
I have Front Page and Macromedia and both have some major issues.
If you used any of these, Front Page has uploading problems and will not allow you to use MP3 files. Plus you can spot a front page site a mile away (boring).
Macromedia is too hard to use and not user friendly at all.

Namo is the best of both worlds.
-It's easy to use and has allot of great looking templates and utilities. I switched my website file to Namo easily and loving it!

This is a great tool with so many free utilities
I just bought this product to make a simple website out of it. As soon as I launched it, I found out all the powerful features this webeditor included, and I had to continue build my website to be more professional looking. With the WebBoard, I am now able to keep in touch in my family back where I am from. This is just a great product.

A very high quality product
I have created a number of sites using this product. They look very professional, even thought I am not a professional web developer. Well, that is the whole point! It is easy to install, easy to create web sites using site wizard, easy to choose themes, easy to CHANGE themes, has a wysiwyg editor, easy site upload and sync. I was able to easily define the site structure. It easily picks up files in the folder hierarchy, created by other applications ~ like jAlbum that I used to create photo albums. It has never crashed on me so far. I have used WebEditor 5.5 and upgraded to 6.0. Version 6.0 has scripting tool and excellent web-board. I have hosted some silly family forums there too. Best Web Design Software For Most People and Businesses
This is great software and easy to understand and use. I have Dreamweaver and Adobe GoLive and I easily use NetObjects Fusion 7 over 95% of the time...it is simply faster and easier to use than the latter and a much MUCH better buy. Product support is excellent and there are several sites where you can find all sorts of components and add-ons for free or very inexpensive. In the time it takes to just START to learn Dreamwever or GoLive you can have your site up and running with Fusion 7. Fusion 7 is also a great improvement over Fusion MX with the ability to change site styles within limitless pages of your site for different and customized looks. The Photo Gallery builder in Fusion 7 is far superior to the one in Adobe Photoshop 7! Before I purchased Fusion I was just a photographer and graphic designer. Now I can offer my clients web design as well. You will like it and actually USE IT!

EASY TO USE Design simple or complex sites GREAT SUPPORT
This is the very best web-design software I have used. Very easy to understand visual system with great tutorials for the most basic beginner. I had a preliminary "practice site" done in a couple of hours and a 20 page completed site published to the web the next day.

I have since published numerous sites with NetObjects Fusion, the largest of which contains tons of photos and over 200 pages and I manage it with ease with Fusion 7.

The Photo Gallery builder is great - and you can use lots of included SiteStyles to build your site. You also can edit these Styles to create your own unique styles with your own custom buttons, menus, etc. Changing colors of objects and backgrounds is a breeze - done with a click of the mouse!

The support system for this software is the best of any I own - There is a message board staffed with professionals with answers to just about any question - but if you don't find your answer there just post your question and most questions are answered in depth with links to more info. or tutorials in 20-30 minutes, usually an hour tops.

What Photoshop did for photography, NetObjects Fusion 7 has done for web design - only Fusion 7 is 100 times easier to learn and use.

You will not be disappointed and you will not outgrow NetObjects. I have just previewed new features in 7.5 and it looks like it will just get better and better.

Don't pay an overpriced web-designer - Build Your Own site - you will be much happier.

This is the worst program ever written for web authoring
I've been using this programs since release 2
I bought 2 3 4 5 and 7 and have recently updated with
the latest patches and STILL its got more bugs than an anthill
I've just trashed it

it totally refuses to even import single pages that that display fine in IE6 ... pages it created in the same version of itself !!!

It refuses to even import its own .nod project files created just 12 months ago

I've now lost 4 entire web sites because I assumed having backups of this things project files would keep them safe

they cant or wont provide fixes and despite 7 attempts to get them to stop they keep spamming my email address

avoid this company and its projects like the plague

try dreamweaver it may be more complicated but at least it doesnt keep trashing your work

it took these people 6 releases to even get the HTML

Interesting ebook, but not an ecommerce software
I ordered this product because I thought it might help me to get some experience on posting e-commerce web pages. And here is what I got. A box arrived in my mail that had a cd on it. I inserted the cd in my drive, went through installation and found I had bought a e-book on how various people and companies carry out e-commerce--From the rascals who rip you off via phone to the web page builders who want to build credit card processing into their pages. I found that this book was too lengthy to read all, so I just scanned it and put it away. It was trying to tell me how to become a sucessful marketer when all I needed was to post a web page with credit card info on it. If you want to get the one program does all, try that other one called E-Biz or something like that. The reviews are better and at least you won't be wasting your pocket change. eMerchantPro has terrible customer service
I've used eMerchantPro for about 18 months. The product is simple to use and quickly produces a professional looking website. The shopping cart works really well. The inventory and order notification works great. I have been pretty satisfied. However, THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWFUL!!! If you have a technical problem or a question- you are on your own. They don't reply to emails and you will sit on hold until you give up. Don't try to copy any strange graphics or links (eg hit counters, links to Amazon, etc) into one of your webpages or it will lock up everything and you won't be able to edit your pages.

Great but...
This is a great product---I was really impressed with the ease with which one could customise it. The templates were superb. I was able to create a business site in an evening. The only downside to the product is that you are FORCED to host your site with the owners of the product. I had a website before I bought the product, and I wasn't ready to have two different websites. If you don't have a business site and you are ready to host your site with the owner of the program, this is probably the best product there is. However, if you are trying to upgrade an existing site with ecommerce capabilities, this might not be suitable for you--unless of course you are ready to pay for two sites at the same time.

Wasted time & money
It is supposed to be easy, they say. I read the other reviews here and they make it sound pretty simple (even though they sounded a lot like marketing brochures), so I make the jump... and end up knee-deep in a mess. First off, I want to keep using my netscape browser: NO, I am told, you must use ONLY the Microsoft browser. next, I want to use my new imac I got from the kids: NO, I am told, you must use ONLY a windows computer. So fine, I install microsfot's internet explorer on my windows computer... 14 hours later, I am STILL trying to figure out how this product even works! Enough is enough, back in the box it goes.

Love it!
1) I really like the way E-merchantpro has been designed so that you build the site through Microsoft Internet Explorer. I have worked on my web site from three different computers (my notebook PC, my desktop PC and my son's desktop PC). My daughter (who lives in another state) also worked on the site. Additionally, I don't have to worry about back-up or support of the web-site like you would have to do if you constructed it on your computer and uploaded it to your Host System.

2) The navigation links along the left side of each web page makes it very easy to navigate your web site and actually makes it easier to layout and construct a web site with good organization vs a poorly laid out site with criss-crossing links. The way sub-page links are exposed as you 'drill-down' through the pages makes for a cleaner design which exposes the additional pages when they are needed.

3) The editor is great! All pages are shown on one list and the page order, sub-pages and names can be changed easily (I have changed my many times to get to a layout and flow that I like). The editor is easy to use and alows an HTML view so you can add some advanced features, such as the tables I added.

4) I looked at a lot of e-commerce packages and picked this one because emerchantpro provides features that allow me to run my business. Constructing the site is only a small part of the business cycle. Actually running it day to day and growing the business is the most important part. I think this package will let me do that best! All the e-commerce software I looked at advertised an easy to construct e-commerce site, but this package included inventory management, reporting, chat, forum and commumications capabilities like the telemarketing that set it apart from the rest.

Too early in the versions
While I found the concept and price in line with what I wanted to do, the implementation was another story. I did not have the ability to create enough branches on the tree structure to make my site the way it would make sense. Couple that with the product crashing often and rewriting my layouts and graphics made it very frustrating. Customer support wound up telling me to use the tool menu to rebuild the data base, (Not well covered in the manual) which does fix most problems but you have to do it over and over.... Their main response at the end after trying to give a lot of relevant feedback was that "this is only version 1.1, we're still working on it". Makes me wish they were not in such a hurry to get it to market. Bottom line: If you have a small shop with a few items, (12 for their instant store settings) then it will be fine. If you are doing a bigger store or have say 12 product lines or more, the known bugs will blow you out of the water and you need to look elsewhere. It just is not flexible enough or stable enough.

I have used numerous different e-commerce applications, and this is one of the more thourough versions that I have seen. Complete listing of unlimited items, graphic support, customizable templates, and much more is yours for a fraction of what an item with this many features usually runs. Lame product by Smith Micro Software is very close to ....!
Completely misleading representation of a product that is nothing but a lure for web hosting services.

The software is noted out of date right on the disc (inside) and they tell you must "upgrade" on their site (on a sticker).

What they do not clearly describe is that you are limited to only 50 items to sell, and that it will only create a basic text order form that the user would have to print for postal mail or fax. This program does not even give you an option to email the order with or without credit card!

What they also do not tell you is that if you want to have more than 50 items, you could list more if you pay them [price] a month. Which is something you can do securely online, without software, for much less with various hosting services.

And finally, the final page result looks like a child created the "catalog". Formatted for screen resolution of 800x600 only. If your screen resolution is anything but, the text will overflow onto the cheesy background images, and juvenile buttons.

It is a completely inferior product that should be avoided at any price. You do not want this garbage on your hard drive. Smith Micro Software will be on my black list forever.

A Nightmare.
If you are a startup e-biz I would steer clear of this offering from Macmillan. The product licensure was sold to Macmillan from its original developer "Boomerang Software" over two years ago and Boomerang no longer provides support for the product. Its hosting requirements are rather strict, and I found much of it complicated, particularly for the beginner. Dynamic pages were also VERY difficult to adapt from their pre-set templates. Boomerang designed this product to be used in conjunction with merchant handler "securepay.com". Once you design your e-commerce site using the software, a wizard directs you to apply for a merchant account setup with securepay which costs hundreds of dollars, leaving you with little or no choice to shop around for another, less costly payment gateway. I also found several curious programming errors in the product. The instructional documentation was frought with typos and poorly printed illustrations. My advice would be to save your money, and keep shopping.

NetObjects Fusion 5.0 provides a what-you-see-is-what-you-get (WYSWYG) interface, good for building business Web sites without HTML expertise. A great tool that makes the process quick and easy, NetObjects includes a variety of predefined styles, with graphics for banners, buttons, horizontal lines, and navigation bars. (Unfortunately, as usual with such predefined styles, most are too garish for business use.)

A warning before continuing: in testing this product, it crashed twice, the second crash resulting in a significant loss of data. Most frustrating, the company provided no option for phone support, and the online support was woefully inadequate.

But if you are new to Web publishing, NetObjects Fusion is still a very good tool to get you started. The crashes we encountered came in testing some Javascript features, which can easily be left out of simple Web sites. The program also comes with literature for a whole host of add-in products that make creating your first Web site even easier. Too complicated
This program is more complicated that it needs to be. I'm very familiar with graphics programs and this one isn't great at all. There are so many features that I'd never use. If you want to simplify things, use FrontPage but not this program

Try this software. Simply to use; complete. Good work!

Amazing software!
I've used Macromedia DreamWeaver, Microsoft FrontPage, and many other HTML programs. For two years I thought that FrontPage was the best. Then I got into the business of designing websites professionally.

Honestly, NetObjects Fusion is the BEST product I've seen or used yet. I highly recommend it to anyone who is serious about designing websites.

NetObjects user interface is intuitive .....
There were some bugs with the original 5.0 release of this product, but the company does now offer a free patch from their website. (Personally, I never experienced any serious problems with the 5.0 version). As a professional designer, I build several web sites each month, and maintain dozens of sites. I use NetObjects for most of them. I would highly recommend this product to ANYONE who builds web sites, but in particular I'd recommend it to a small business person who wants to build and maintain their own site, without the help of a professional. This product is easy enough for a novice user, but yet it is extremely powerful. FrontPage is really no comparison -- with the pixel-level precision you get with NetObjects, you just have much more control over the appearance of your site.

Much more robust than MS Frontpage
I've been a user of MS FrontPage vX.X for several years now, and until now, thought it was the best WYSIWYG editor. I am by all means not a expert at designing web pages, and I don't have time to learn all the in's and out's of HTML. Considering this, I look for the easiest, and most professional web authoring tool that is easy to deploy, setup, and publish with. Best of all, Fusions HTML output works on ANY web server, so there are no FP extensions needed here for functionality. With the ability to utilize many professional templates, and integrate your own HTML should you wish, it is very robust. Those who want to design, manage, and publish one or more Web sites without learning to program (or hiring an HTML pro) should check out NetObjects Fusion MX. Perfect for Business Professional Needing to Build Web Site
After playing around with Microsoft's Front Page and looking at many other options, I tried NetObjects Fusion MX and have been blown away by how easy it was to create a professional, highly functional Web site without having HTML knowledge/experience nor being a programmer nor a Web designer.

When I bought this program a month ago, I'd not had any HTML training or experience. I'm not a designer or graphic artist. And I'm not a programmer/techie. I'm a former corporate exec who recently started my own business and am working with a limited budget for the first time, so I decided to pull together my company's initial Web site on my own.

In just a couple of days of working with NetObjects Fusion, I produced what could be arguably called a decent Web site, with virtually no problems or challenges. It really was as easy as the promotional literature claims.

I used one of the styles that comes packaged with the software, inserted text, pictures and pages with simple dragging and dropping and ended up with a great site. I could customize the look/feel extensively using commands similar to Microsoft Word, not having to insert HTML tags. I even doubted that it would be easy to actually get the stuff I created "pushed" to the Web, but was pleasantly surprised when it worked beautifully on my first try, in only a minute and with only two clicks of the mouse.

One of the coolest features is the tightly integrated "components" available from third-party vendors. I've now used several of them to add a response form that sends an immediate response back to the submitter, a customer registration form that not only sends a response but also stores the data in an Excel file for me to download and import into my customer database, a form that enables a user to browse their computer and choose a file to send to me, pop-up windows, a scrolling window within the page for a user agreement and more.

As I've played around and bought an HTML reference book, I also found it easy to add more tricky things like HTML code inserted in my page for a newsletter sign up form and a "refer a friend" feature. A buddy who is a hard-core programmer tells me that the code generated by the program adds stuff that isn't necessary, but for me that hasn't caused any challenges or problems since I'm not a programmer and the resulting site is great. I haven't found anything not to like about this package and have been amazingly productive with it.

Because I had the benefit of playing with Front Page first, I can honestly say that if you're like me--a non-programmer, non-designer needing to build a professional, highly functional Web site quickly--THIS is the much better choice of program. And I have a powerful site, with real customers visiting and interacting everyday...

This is the closest thing to magic that you'll find. Wave a mouse - there's a web site structure. Wave it again, there's a page. The manual says it will take 10 minutes to set up a site. I have managed it in three. The product is so good that I have been with it for three versions, and buy it for all my clients.

Don't be fooled by the price - this product gives Dreamweaver a run for its money. All included is a great set of support newsgroups, an online Knowledgebase, and the capability to extend the functionality in a kazillion ways, using third party components (yes! like Dreamweaver extensions do!) It's worth many times the price on the box. If you are a small or medium sized business, or a professional designer, you need this product. It makes web design totally pleasurable.

Perfect for small business/personal use
Fast, easy and efficient, this is a sure winner for most people who do not make web sites for a living.

If you just want a pretty, well laid out and functional site and do not want to spend lot's of time learning a complex web authoring tool NOF cannot be beat by anything out there.

I can do it all from html directly in notepad to Macromedia Studio, but I just love the speed with which I can develop, set up and publish a site with NOF. Three years ago I did a small but quite nice site in only 24 hours - and it's still up(!).

NOF has it's limitations. You can make a site look like millions - but do not expect to be able to publish advanced and interactive content with ease. Here NOF quickly runs into trouble and you may as well grit your teeth for another more advanced package. But than again - if you want to splash Flash all over your site - then why even think of anything else than the original Macromedia package?

So, if you believe content is everything (and that's pretty much the case everywhere) NOF will allow you present your message very efficiently - so you can concentrate on your real work and expertise.

And by the way - don't forget that Fusion 7 is just out now.

NetObjects is the ideal Web authoring tool
I start to learn HTML since HTML 2.0, and it makes me to be very familiar with HTML coding. Till now, I've experienced many tools including Notepad, Vi (Unix's editor, like window's Notepad), CMed, HotDog, Homesite, Netscape's composer, Frontpage, Dream weaver.
My first experience with NetObject starting from NetObject 4.0, then, I was impressive how productivity it is, although it's still not perfect at that time. I feel satisfied & comfortable with this kind of WYSIWYG tools since the NetObjects MX was born.
For NetObjects MX, I would like to share my opinions here,

1. NetObjects MX is not only the best tool for beginners, also inlcuding sophisticated guys. If you assume it is designed for beginners only, you are wrong.

NetObjects MX provide many flexible ways to access your HTML coding. If you do know what is HTML, and you are willing to spend time to learn NetObjects MX, you'll find there is no "limitation".

2. Yes, NetObjects produces large HTML files, however it won't sacrifice website download speed too much. The real problem to slow down your website download speed mostly come from the large graphics & multimedia files.

3. Compared with Frontpage & Dreamweaver, NetObjects provides a effective way to increase your productivity with much lower cost.

So, I have to say "thank you" to NetObjects, which is a ideal tool. and it's so happy to hear NetObjects Phoenix is coming soon.

I thought this was MY little secret!
NetObject Fusion (NOF) is a hugely productive tool in my arsenal. While the focus of a review might be all the great features in the software--and there are so many, I would focus on what it has done for me.

I've used NOF since version 3.0 after trying everything else out there, including DreamWeaver. NOF was simply the tool I needed to get the job done fast and make it look great. In fact, you can buy the program, and have a professional site in only minutes--if you type fast--using their templates.

As I've progressed through my career, I've relied on tools to give my work a really professional touch: NetObjects, PhotoShop, Quark XPress, and a few really good font and graphics packages. People are stunned at both my creativity and productivity. I wish it was all my doing, but in fact, it is the productivity and control these tools give me.

One of the questions I'm often asked by newer staffers is how to progress their career. One of the things I always mention is to buy the tools you need to make YOU look good. This goes for employees as well as consultants and small business folks.

I've designed dozens of websites with NOF, including LeadEater.com, MikeGrigsby.com, LindaChandler.com, SeminarLove.com, HeavenlySounds.com, just to name a few. Wished I would have read the reviews first
I purchased this product without reading the reviews first, DON'T BUY THIS. I wasted time reading the instructions to figure out how to develop a commerce site and realized that numerous steps were skipped or out of order. I contacted technical support with questions and suggestions and their response was just as vague/unhelpful as the lame manual. I never did get the commerce features (tables) to work, but it looks like when you download orders or update products that the website has to be "locked" while you do this. What a pain!

JUNK - JUNK WASTE OF MONEY & TIME
No idea if it can work at all. Other owners specify Boomerang Software charges for all aspects of this product...extra!! NO DECENT DOCUMENTATION. Understand a totorial can only be had for extra money!

Nightmare Nightmare Nightmare!!!
Worse piece of software I have ever had the displeasure of using. I live in Mass and thought why not give them a try, they are from here, ha never again!

I'll explain just a few of problems with this software. Documentation comes in 2 books web building and e-commerce .....it covers the software functions accurately. No problem there the problem comes in it's not user friendly. You can't develop or customize freely, "shopping cart side of the software" you have to pay Boomerang for that. So if you want a to add to our delete parts of the shopping cart you're out of luck, unless you are a programmer and love getting into the middle of database structure that's laid out in the templates provided. No way to add in options that aren't default, such as paying by paypal, discover, or many others not listed in the program. You have to pay extras for that. Your choice is limited to what's there on their templates and that's it. I could go on and on but this would become a book. This software is so limiting that after spending weeks on it......I was so disgusted and frustrated that I started looking for something else.

The people at Boomerang did answer all emails to their credit. The price was reasonable @59.99 , but has taught me a very valuable lesson indeed, "You really do get what you pay for" I will never forget that phrase for as long as I live now.

I develop web sites for a hobby, so I have seen good software packages and bad ones, but not of this caliber. I was in a hurry and needed a shopping cart for a friend that I was helping. She's on a win2k system which is part of the reason I looked into this program.

On a positive side, the web developing part of the software is actually pretty good......but that's not what I bought this for......I wanted a shopping cart for e-commerce, not web building.....it's pretty much wysiwyg. If they named it "Webshop web building" that would have made me look elsewhere for a shopping cart. Their idea of a shopping cart ..., IMHO, but what do I know.....I was stupid enough to buy it. I just know I will never buy anything from this company again!

Waste of Time and money

The package comes with 2 manuals but there are NO recommendations as to which one you should start with. If building an e-commerce site, you are forced to pay an additional $... for a "credit card license". PayPal, I believe is free. You are forcing me to "shell out" additional cash just to test my application. No tutorial comes with the software, you must pay extra for that. You are restricted to ASP. You need an additional tool, which you must purchase for JSP. There is nothing intutive about the software and it is difficult to use. I do not understand how they sold so many copies as they claim.

Don't expect much

Not Happy
I was looking forward to recieving this software, only to find out that you can only use the store you create with a Windows server. It would have been nice to know that before I bought it.

e-commerce review
I have found this program extremely hard to understand and use. I own frontpage, and think that it is much easier to navigate and get things accomplished. This program is not for begginers and I am in desperate need of help with it, but can't seem to find that either. Manual or not- I do not like this program.

Creating web or E-Commerce sites with E-Commerce const Kit
I've tried many applications, but frankly this new version 7 E-commerce contruction Kit from MacMillan publishing & Boomerang Software is absolutely great.
It was easy to isntall and use, the instructins were clear, it came with a printed user guide (which seems to be a luxury nowadays with software packs), and it did what it promised.
I can make regular web sites, but my real interest was to make E-Commerce sites, with a database using Access. It did this flawlessly. I could have used its internal Database to add my products, but I chose to directly import my Microsoft Access database of products and prices, which worked great.
Its Active Server Pages enable me to build and add more ASP code to create more dynamic and advanced features visually, which is very nice and powerful, I do not recall having seen such a thing anywhere else.
