4-0 out of 5 stars My Review of Record Producer deluxe
I agree with much of what K. Wagner of Rosslyn VA wrote.

I use Digital Performer in the classroom. I noticed last year that Digital Orhestrator Pro, which preceded Record Producer Deluxe and by all accounts is the same program re-packaged, worked very much like the Digtal Performer software. I used it extensively and then decided to buy Record Producer when it was introduced. I upgraded to Deluxe when I realized I did not have all of the tools.

Record Producer Deluxe interfaces well with my equipment. No problems yet.

I have not used the FAQ page form Voyetra but I am getting close because of a nuance. I have noticed that Record Producer Deluxe arbitrarily changes my patches. For example, I assign patch 65 to an instrument but when it is saved and I load it again later, that patch may be (and usually is) changed to 64. The same goes if I assign 57, 58, 66 or 67. They all move. I have noticed that patch 68 stays in place. I don't know why this happens but it causes a sound problem when music is played back.

One other thing that I really don't like is that wave sounds are not called waves, but RPP files and can not be accessed or played like waves. There is some special set up that Voyetra has inserted that keeps you from using any of the sounds and effects that come with the program. Bummer.

The program may be hard to work with but I have not noticed as yet. I think that Digital Performer prepared me for it.

I like this program, especially the piano roll editing, and really wish that Voyetra would concentrate on improving it by maybe intergrating a form of Music Write with it, making it good for universal use, like reading and accepting all types of audio files, adding a little color to the track lines, grouping the sliders, and charging more for the good product that it is and can be. Just now, it is like a toy but very useful. It is a good place to jump off

4-0 out of 5 stars good product for the price
I bought this program to do midi sequencing and audio recording for guitar and voice. Overall I think it's a really good program for doing standard musical recording tasks on an intel-based system (on a Mac I'd expect more and pay more too). It's totally replaced my 4-track cassette recorder system since Record Producer also records midi. I'd used MOTU's FreeStyle and Digital Performer before (for college coursework), so I wanted something that would work kind of like these programs but didn't cost so much. Record Producer doesn't have the same slick setup for midi instruments that FreeStyle has - doesn't recognize my Alesis QS6.1 banks - but you can still access all the banks.

The program has a reasonably good interface for recording and overdubbing audio and midi tracks, and it's pretty easy to edit things as well. It's also very quick from startup time to recording your first track - very nice if you're in the heat of inspiration. The audio editing isn't perfect - could use some more work to give you finer control. You can edit midi data directly, and you can easily edit midi controllers and related parameters (volume, tempo, etc.). It lets you do punch in/out recording for midi and audio which I've found to be very useful. Does NOT let you edit in the musical score - you'd better go with Finale or something like that if you're looking for notation-oriented software.

I must admit I haven't tried many other sequencer programs for the PC. I just read reviews, looked at their specs, and decided on this one. I tried Jazz (a free program) and it's not bad, but not as full-featured and a bit more difficult to use.

I found the online help (mostly the FAQ from Voyetra's website) to be a lot more useful than the manual. The FAQ/online help answered all of my questions about step recording, audio recording latency (needed to set my onboard audio card to full duplex mode and updated my audio driver).

One important note though: a fast, modern processor (I'd guess at least a 2GHz Pentium/AMD) and a separate soundcard (probably any modern soundblaster thingy) would be really nice. Otherwise, you won't be able to record and playback lots of audio simultaneously (a problem I'm having with a 1GHz-equivalent AMD machine using the motherboard's sound chip (a K7SEM motherboard), though not too bad for me since I usually only record 2 tracks of audio and the rest is midi).

I sympathize with the earlier review - this program takes a fair bit of work to set up, and you have to play around a bit to get the right drivers, the right midi interface, etc. But once you do that, it's full-featured. I didn't have nearly as many problems as that reviewer did, so this is probably very hardware-dependent.

I do not recommend getting the cheaper version of Record Producer (the non-deluxe one) - it doesn't let you record your stuff to CDs and doesn't have all of the audio editing tools. The deluxe version just makes the music-making process a lot more fun.

If you've got a couple hundred dollars more, I'd suggest moving up to the more professional programs, or moving to a Mac (which is much better for doing anything audio and has much better software out for it). But this is a good intro program if you're not sure what you want yet.

1-0 out of 5 stars Be wary of buying this product!!!
Be wary of buying this product. It is very difficult to use and even the simplest things seem to be a problem. When I use the software, the registration page seems to pop up even after I registered. I also had problems getting technical support help. There is no phone support, and the website and FAQ is severly lacking in any help. Save your money! ... Read more

i neeed to get this so i can make some beats on my computer

2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth it
This software is as difficult to use as Finale, yet with fewer features than any other composing software I've ever used. I've transitioned composing software before (Encore to Finale) so I knew it would take some time to get adjusted. But eventually I gave up-- it just wasn't worth it.

In addition to the clumsy, non-intuitive controls, the "Songwriter" version of the software has crippled features: Limits on number of staves and simultaneous midi tracks it will handle at once, limits on the number of measures per line (only 4!), and limits on MIDI editing features. I found there to be simply a general lack of customizeability throughout.

There are simply too many headaches for the end result. I almost got the impression that the people writing this software had never actually written music before, and will certianly not be trying the "Maestro" version of this software. Personally, I'm testing Sibelius 2, Finale, and Overture 3 at the moment and will choose one of them. Those choices are all significantly more expensive than "Music Write", however. For lower cost alternatives I would recommend "Score Writer 2" from Geniesoft or "Finale Allegro" from Coda Software. For the price I wasn't expecting terrific software from Voyetra, however I hoped for either ease of use or robust, musically oriented features and found neither.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good tool for Composing, Playing & Printing Your Music
For years and years I have used Passport's Encore package for creating and documenting music but after moving to Window XP, I could not get Encore's Text Editors to work and had to find another package.

At first I didn't care for the product because it was different. After a month of using the Music Write, I got use to using it and realized it was not bad.

The main drawback was only two lyric lines that I found annoying but I hit Voyetra Web-site and discovered another version "Maestro" that allowed up to four lyric lines plus a lot more options (and the music I had entered in the Songwriter Edition was compatible with the Maestro version.) Another small feature of the Maestro version is the comment editor, which I use to document aspects of music I create (e.g., what inspired me to create that particular of music.)

Features of the product:
-----------------------------
-Create musical scores on you PC
-Preview you score before you print
-Use the symbol palette to enter notes, rests, clefs, chords, and many more
-Supports all the common musical symbols (i.e., ties, triplets, and many more)
-Notate for all instruments
-Hear you music played by MIDI instruments
-Add chord names and guitar symbols
-Print your score to include your name, song title, copyright information and pick the fonts for each
-Output sheet music to a graphic file (e.g., BMP, JPEG), which can then be imported in MS Word or any other product that imports these types of graphic files

Cut, copy and paste music into you score just like a word processor

System Requirements:
---------------------------
-Pentium 233MHz processor with MMX or better (Celeron 400 for Windows 2000/XP)
-32MB system RAM - 64MB recommended
-36MB hard disk space
-Windows 98/Me/2000/XP
-Quad speed or higher CD-ROM
-800x600 high color (16 bit) video display
-GM compatible 16 bit MIDI capable soundcard
-MIDI keyboard (optional)
-Printer
-Service Pack 1 or higher for Windows 2000 Professional

2-0 out of 5 stars Isn't as easy to use as it claims
When I purchased this software, I thought writing music would be as easy as selecting the notes and pasting them on the "page." It isn't. While I'm still learning the intricacies of the software, a good portion of the difficulties seems to be caused by deficiencies in the software itself.

It is more difficult than it should be to change things in the score, such as timing. This is the first music-writing program I've ever purchased, however, so I have nothing else with which to compare it. I should have read some online reviews before I purchased it--I probably would have passed on it.

Ideally, one should try out a software package before investing any money in it. That way you know exactly what you're getting.

1-0 out of 5 stars Uncontrollable Default Settings
This software has so many fixed default auto settings (many musically incorrect) that it is essentially unusable. It interferes with entering basic notation: accidentals are assigned and cannot be changed (!!!), and the same with ties, timing, number of bars per line (even though it will claim otherwise). I'm a professional engineer and a musician with a lot of MIDI and audio equipment interface, and this has got to be the worst software program I've ever seen. Don't be fooled into "upgrading" previous versions: they were so primitive that as late as 1996 they actually still used basic program language (.pbl) printer drivers. Try aother brand. Many professional musicians use Finale, which is pricey, but you get what you pay for. As for me, paper and pencil beats Music Write. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good, cheap software
I noticed that there are no reviews for this software, so here is one. This is an excellent package for the price. It does everything that a beginning musician would need and more. I am using it on windows xp, and have really had no problems at all. A bug that I noticed up front was that the tutorial song did not put out any sound, which made it more difficult to learn to use the software, but this was the only major bug that I have found (most likely just a freak thing). The software is not very difficult to use. It is a little confusing at first because the manual does not go very far in depth but the Magix web site has more information about things that the manual left out.

If you are looking for something in which all that you want to do is make playlists of MP3s, and non-original cds, this will do it, but you can get software that is cheaper that will work just as well. But, if you are looking to compose, record, and make your own cds, this is a very good place to start. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Grest! Even for music-maker newbies.
MTV Music Maker is fantastic! it is the best music software program on the market (even better than acid and a lot of other expensive programs). With it you can use a large collection of fantastic previous made loops, or--once your more advanced--you can make loops of your own! you can add tons of funky effects and make an endless about of groovy tunes. . .

The only problem is the poor quality in the sounds, keep in mind the sound quality is still good, but just as long as you keep your song to a minimum on the number of sounds at one time, for example: Bass and Synth and some Percussion will go great, but all that plus vocals, extra synth and more advanced musical combinations will turn up a little distorted. But the sound quality is still good enough to impress your friends, or maybe to add to a video cd of your own. But, as long as you don't care about having super professional sounding music you'll love this program!

1-0 out of 5 stars cannot get software to run
I had written a previous review about being unable to install the software with any version of directx higher than version 7. As it turns out, their customer service rep told me how to get past the directx error that would prevent installation. After that however, the program would not run. Have been communicating with the customer rep for several days. According to the info on the jewelcase, ATI Rage Pro chipsets, (what I'm running), are supported. Still the program will not run. Customer service has tried to get it to run, and they did reply promptly, but at this time I can only give this program 1 star, as IMO, a well written program should not fail to run when it's requirements are met. This program did run at one time on my computer, the only two things that have changed on my machine is the Directx version, and the video,(turned off the integrated graphics and installed a video card). It is a good program, to bad it will no longer run.

5-0 out of 5 stars A musician speaks on digital music
If you like digital music: trance, techno, house music and like using those creative right brain juices?...go with this..it's EXTREMELY EASY!! As a musician my whole life working with audio files, this is the most user friendly I've ever seen. it's fun and almost addictive! i reccomend it to anyone.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun & Easy!
I was looking for an easy way to mix music for fun, and when I found the MTV Music Generator at such a low price I decided to try it out. I don't regret it at all. Using the Music Generator is so much fun-- mostly because it's so intuitive and hassle-free. You can make Rock, Techno, House, Beat or Bass & Drums tracks, choosing & editing hundreds of bass lines, drum loops, melodies, vocals, percussion and sound effects (like scratching). I was just a little dissappointed that you can't make hip-hop tracks, but considering the price, I can't complain. Besides making your own songs you can also join a group online in "Music Jam" and mix interactively with people from all over the world, or create a 3D video to accompany your song. You can also convert your songs to MP3 or WAV format if you want to burn them onto a CD. Overall, the MTV Music Generator is a great buy, I'd recommend it to anyone.

2-0 out of 5 stars Fruity Loops
The program is probably OK, but registration, updating, and customer service is a nightmare. Customer service, if they respond at all, can take days upon days by e-mail. Ahead should take a lesson Nero. That update process is a breeze.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good s***
good polished, good interferance, falls down on complexity and vraiety and don't get frustrated if you hear the same tone in three diffrent category with a slight diffrence in cut or boost!

5-0 out of 5 stars Three thumbs up
Fruity Loops has been a long time fave of CleverJoe's. This superb software has evolved over the last few years from a 'cool and quirky' drum machine and electronica pattern generator into a monolithic musician's tool. Fruity Loops is very easy to use so you won't get bogged down in the software. Allowing creativity to flow freely is something that Fruity Loops has always been good at.

Fruity Loops can be used on its own as a complete package, or in combination with a digital recording program like Cakewalk, Cubase, etc. Complex songs and sweet drum loops can be created with a few clicks, and the resulting song or loop can be exported to a WAV or MP3 file, and MIDI can be exported to a standard MIDI file.

Although FL can be used as a complete, stand-alone package, it's also easy to use with other music software including Cakewalk, Cubase, etc. I use Fruity Loops to create the drum track beds for songs I'm working on, then export the tracks as WAV files. The WAV files are then imported into Cakewalk Pro Audio, which is my main digital recorder. Apparently FP can also be synched to external sequencers but I find it very easy to simply export the file as a WAV or mp3 and then import it into another program.

There are a wide range of pro quality effects at your disposal including reverb, phaser, flanger etc. Complex mixing chains can be created with ease. It's loads of fun to just screw around and try different combinations of effects. You can get pretty freaky, which of course is one of the joys of Fruity Loops.

For years, Fruity Loops has long been known and loved as a 'secret gem' within the electronica musician community. Today FP has become much more widely known, and the improved features of this version are truly a dream. The most complete virtual studio currently available, you will be creating wav, mp3 or midi songs or loops only minutes after launching it.

For the record, although another user mentioned that he had trouble registering his product for the lifetime upgrade, I didn't have any trouble at all. I found customer service to be second to none, and the legions of musicians who swear by Fruity Loops are a testament to FP's success.

This software should definitely be included in your arsenal of music software. CleverJoe gives it three big thumbs up!

3-0 out of 5 stars Fruity Loops 3 and FL Studio

Amazon.com Review

Mix up a musical storm using percussion, horns, stringed instruments, and even special sound effects. Super Duper Music Looper lets young composers mix tunes ranging in style from orchestral movements to hip-hop.

Designed for kids ages 6 to 10--but simple enough for even younger children to enjoy--Super Duper Music Looper allows users to "paint" their musical compositions, selecting audio tracks with one mouse click and then painting them onto a looping score. The interface design is uncluttered, with only a few buttons. Players newer to reading will find no barriers to using Super Duper Music Looper. Everything is done either visually or by sound--painting sounds, erasing them, and switching instrument tracks. You can even listen to the results as you work.

Combining instruments in this fashion creates tracks that are pleasant enough to listen to, and make especially good background music. What is missing is melody--or an elegant way to create it. Though children can record their own vocal or musical tracks using an external microphone, Super Duper Music Looper would have benefited from some form of keyboard interface that would let them record sequences of notes to top off their compositions. Without this, musically astute players may notice that their products are missing an important component.

Even so, Super Duper Music Looper's user-friendly interface and delightfully wide collection of sound samples will give players great scope for creating interesting musical tracks, in the process learning a great deal about how songs are composed. --Alyx Dellamonica ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best
this is the best music making program ever, ive made some tunes and written lyrics, and ive made a demo tape for a record company, they are actually interested in me! and i dont need a bass player, guitarist, or drummer

5-0 out of 5 stars What a fantastic and original program!
My 4 yr old daughter and 8 year old son LOVE this program. It is easy to use yet has enough sophistication to interest older kids. I just love that my kids are creating music and can experiment with what makes an interesting song. Super Duper Music Looper makes it easy to create fun catchy music. You can also record your own voice and mix that in as well. In an age where kids want to spend too much time playing mindless computer games, I am always delighted to see them use this software (and sometimes, even their mom even gets to play with it!).

4-0 out of 5 stars Great for the kids
My daughter loves it,(she's six).

It is a lot of fun to play with, and my daughter makes her own songs without any help from me. Then she dances around her room singing songs she makes up on the spur of the moment. A joyous thing to see.

I was going to use the lottery as my retirement fund. Maybe I should just become a show business Dad.

Excellent software that will help your kids understand song construction.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun for Kids and Adults!
My 7 year old daughter and I both enjoy making music w/ this program. Looper is very easy to learn; it took us about 10 minutes to become trackmasters. My kid especially likes creating tracks using her own voice and household sounds and adding them to the songs.

I suspose it could be considered educational, but you are not actually learning music per se. You are learning production techniques. Buy it becasue is fun! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Toast with Jam is a tasty software package indeed. Bundled with extras,at least three of which might be sold as standalone applications, Toast Platinum5.1 is the standard CD-burning tool for the Mac. Its Aqua-enhanced interfacemakes it the perfect companion for Mac OS X, and it works smoothly with OS 8.6and OS 9.

Toast Titanium's design is reminiscent of a funky '50s diner jukebox. The windowis resizable, with simple buttons specifying the type of CD you wish to burn.Pop a blank CD-R into your drive, drag your files into the window, hit that big,red glowing record button in the corner, and you're cooking. Toast supports allmajor CD formats, including MP3, Mac/ISO hybrid, and Video CD (playable on manyDVD players).

If the above were all there was to this package, we'd be satisfied and ready fora nap. But included here are Jam and Peak LE VST 3.0 (from Bias Inc.), for thosewho really want to tweak the data on their audio CDs, and Magic Mouse Discus, which lets you design great-looking labels.

Jam lets you create smoothly blended transitions between tracks with thecross-fade editor, and mark up to 49 index points within a track. The programsupports 16- or 24-bit Sound Designer II, AIFF, WAV, or MP3 files, making itextremely versatile. When you're finished tweaking, Jam creates a disk image forToast to burn.

Although it is easy and convenient to burn files directly from Toast, you willhave more control over audio files if you work first from Jam and then exportthe disk image to Toast. Even if you don't plan on creating any cross-fades orindex points, you can still listen to your entire disc and make volumeadjustments, as Jam gives direct control over the final gain for each track. This feature is very flexible. Clicking on the gain amount in the track detailbrings up a slider that lets you boost up to +12 dB or lower to -96 dB. You canalso adjust left and right channels independently of each other.

Peak LE VST 3.0 is a trimmed-down version of the Peak software from Bias Inc.,and it's a very cool and powerful tool. Peak is launched directly from Jam or onits own, and supports a dizzying array of file types, including many notsupported by Jam or Toast. These can, of course, be converted to aToast-friendly type. Although some features in this light version are disabled, you can still manipulate your audio in a number of ways, such as changing gain, normalizing, and adding DSP effects like Reverse and Invert. You can also createregions that Jam will import as tracks.

If you own a Mac and do a lot of CD burning, you want Toast with Jam. It's anextremely good value, and it's very fun to use. Best of all, taking fulladvantage of the features and extras in this package will lend your CDs asolidly professional quality. --John Bosch ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Jam sold on False Pretenses:beware!
The primary feature distinguishing Jam from Toast or from any of the other vanilla disk burners is its long-standing ability to meld professional split-stereo files into the track list, i.e. a left and right pair of mono files with .L and .R suffixes. This is the main reason that Jam existed, since it otherwise duplicates practically all the features of Toast. Roxio prominently advertises this feature, and provides directions for implementing it in their documentation. It simply does not work. I now see from a previous message posted here and dated last March that this is not an isolated incident. It is clear that for at least 9 months after this gentleman's review was posted that Roxio has not corrected the problem, nor corrected their claims for the product, nor have they posted any warnings on their site indicating that this key feature is not yet implemented. Instead they lead customers into purchasing the software on the basis of this feature, with total disregard for the responsibility to provide the actual product they advertise. This is called lying.
If it were a matter of a shipment that got out with a small problem that contradicted the manual that would be understandable. But to forgo amending their advertising or website or online manual going on close to a year now is unconscionable. Parlaying misinformation for that long is clearly negligent and deceptive practice.
I would recommend against buying this product, sheerly on principle. There are alternatives that do exactly what it does equally well, and these people don't deserve to be rewarded for bad behaviour. Unfortunately there is no other product that provides this missing feature, at least not in an OS-X compatible version.

1-0 out of 5 stars NO STARS FOR (BURNT) TOAST WITH JAM
BACKGROUND: I am a professional guitarist/composer (and an attorney). My various efforts have received favorable reviews from THE NEW YORK TIMES (among many other diverse sources).

I made the grave mistake of buying TOAST WITH JAM for mastering because Roxio touts it (on the box) as "Professional Audio CD Mastering" for the MAC. (I read somewhere that it is an äward winning program.)

FACTS: JAM FAILED TO PERFORM THE MOST BASIC FUNCTION OF SUCCESSFULLY PLACING A PROTOOLS LE SPLIT STEREO FILE IN THE TRACK LIST. I attempted to open up a ProTools LE split stereo file ready to be burned -- no tweaking necessary. It opened the left/right files up as two separate mono files in sequence contrary to the explicit directions on p. 19 of the JAM 5 manual. It would not combine the files to produce a stereo track as the manual said it would. Sighing, I closed the program.

ROXIO's RESPONCE: I immediately emailed Roxio; Roxio "help" said that this was a "KNOWN ISSUE" requiring an upload to correct the defect. Problem is they don't have one available for my problem ....but....they said that they're working on it.

The program is useless for my purposes.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy as 1, 2, 3!!!!!
This product is almost universally compatible!! The window is resizable, with simple buttons specifying the type of CD you wish to burn. Click audio, data, copy, or other, and the button turns blue. Pop a blank CD-R into your drive, drag your files into the window, hit that big red glowing record button in the corner, and you're cooking. What a simple way to burn CD's.... even off your PC!

5-0 out of 5 stars Toast with Jam
With good reason, Roxio's Toast is probably the best selling CD and DVD Macintosh burning software in the world. Roxio has always been miles ahead of their competition and it looks like they just raised the bar again. Their latest release, Toast with Jam, adds even more functionality to their already powerful product.

Toast Titanium already featured the ability to burn photo, video, music and data to CD and DVD. The new version includes pro audio features that will allow users to edit, arrange, and burn a gold master CD of their recorded music. Also music lovers will find an updated, more flexible cross-fade tool using a graphical waveform interface, a dithering feature that corrects for distortion, which can occur during audio file conversion, and new support for audio files with resolutions up to 24 bits. A robust online help system is new to the product as well.

And when it couldn't get any better, Toast with Jam also includes a version of the popular audio program Peak LE from BIAS. Audio professionals and music lovers will find Toast with Jam an absolute must have. Plus it has a cute name.

Toast with Jam is built for Mac® OS X and also supports Mac® OS 9 users. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Massive price drop
Two of the other reviews of Screenblast Acid 4.0 compare this $60 program to the Professional version at around $250. Both of them say that the Professional version is better. And this is surprising because???? Acid, even when it came from Sonic Foundry, had the same business model as game consoles. Basically, sell the software for cheap and make the real money on selling loops. There is no difference now that Sony's in the picture. As for comparisons between Pro 2.0 and Screenblast 4.0, the fact that you can now get almost the same functionality for $60 as you used to get for $250 should be something to celebrate, not condemn.

There are a few problems with the program. First, I'd love to be able to edit the MIDI file from within the program. Oh well. MIDI sequencers are pretty cheap, and most people who buy this program can't play an instrument.

Second, the effects aren't as comprehensive as you get on the $250 version. I guess that's why I saved almost $200.

And one hint to add. Acidplanet.com is a website that you can use host songs for free. They also have available for FREE DOWNLOAD an "Eight-Pack" of loops. Every week eight new loops. (Yes, I know that it's also marketing. But there's no such thing as a free lunch.) They also have a couple of loop packages available for under $40 at any given time.

Enjoy.

1-0 out of 5 stars you get what you pay for...
this software sucks! first when you get it the samples are so freakin' cheesy and when you want cool loops you have to get on Sony's website and buy them seperately (what a rip off!)
Buy the other Acid pro thats 250 bucks ITS SEMI COOL.
SONY YOU CHEAP RIP OFF!

3-0 out of 5 stars Good with Windows XP, but not with ME
Initially I bought this to run with Windows XP and Windows Me since they are both listed as being supported by Amazon. But, after speaking with Sony tech support I have found that Acid 4.0 is not fully functional with Windows ME. When you run this on a Windows ME system, you can not Render a project to a MP3 file. This is becuase there are no supported templates for MP3 for Acid 4.0 with Windows ME. Also, it locks up my system periodically when I try to do live recordings. But, with Windows XP it works fine. And, if you have a Sony VAIO system that came preinstalled with the Deluxe versions of Acid and SoundForge, be advised that the base Acid 4.0 and SoundForge 1.1 do not have the same capabilities. You will have to update Acid 4.0 and SoundForge so you can perform the same tasks as the pre installed software on your Sony VAIO. However, I do like the multi-track editor.

1-0 out of 5 stars poor
your web address can't be found. i have took acid4.0 back two time and it still dosn't work. i tryed to get my money back but best buy said it is copywrited.so thanks for the trouble!!!!

this has got to be one of worst product that sony
ever put there name on.so thanks for taking my
money!!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars A Step Backwards, for the Price
I owned Acid 2.0 a few years back and had loads of fun making music and re-mixing. A couple years passed, I lost the Installation CD's, and my wife graciously bought me Screenblast Acid 4.0. Well, it looks and works just like Acid 2.0, except the included loops are all cheesy, already slapped-together garbage, and there are much fewer of them.

Sure, you can get more loops via the Screenblast.com web site, but it's $39.95 per year to subscribe. And all the Acid Loop Libraries? Now that Sony owns them, they're $50 EACH!!! Almost the cost of the software itself to own just one library!

If you need more loops (and you WILL), find web sites like AcidFanatic.com, where these libraries are still reasonably priced, or just find free loops elsewhere.

VERY disappointed in this product. You'd think that two revisions and a major media outlet would improve this great product, but Sony has just turned this into a cash cow for their music loops. It's like giving you a car for free, but it runs on "Special" gas that costs $10 a gallon... ... Read more
