1-0 out of 5 stars Save Your Money!!!!
This software is an example of wasting a perfectly good CD-ROM.

2-0 out of 5 stars Tech Support Is Non-Existant
It took three days for them to answer my first email with "what version of windows are you running?" as a response. I emediatly sent back a response and 3 days later I still haven't heard back from them. The product will not rip from cd's in 'normal' mode, only 'fast' mode which makes the music sound like garbage.

1-0 out of 5 stars Look around before you buy this one & forget about support!
OK ... so the product is probably 3 stars in terms of functionality ... but one of the main reasons I purchased Ejay pro was so that I could blend songs using their fade in/out features.

My initial problem is that I can't burn anything using Ejay. It took 6 weeks for their tech support to get back to me regarding my issue. I even gave them the model number & link to Plextor's site. It turns out that they don't support Ejay on XP. Period. Nice. They didn't even offer a work-around.

Thanks for wasting 6 weeks of my life. I'll be returning the product and picking up Roxio's.... at least they're up on the technology.

4-0 out of 5 stars its worth the money

Aimed at the music enthusiast who needs a one-stop MP3 solution, Magix'sMP3 Maker provides a full set of features for creating and listening to MP3files, as well as for burning custom CDs that contain them. MP3 Maker rips toWAV and encodes effectively to MP3, MP2, and WMA. Its standard encoder producesgood-sounding audio, but encodes slowly, managing little better than real time.MP3 Maker also includes a 20-file trial version of QDesign's MP3 encoder, whichproduces higher-quality audio, and encodes more quickly. Serious users will wantto upgrade to the full QDesign encoder. A wizard registers you with CDDB, theCD-information database, so that MP3 Maker can tag MP3 files automatically. Youalso can edit tags manually.

Twin players with cross-fade capability provide good flexibility. Each playerhas a pitch control, and, with the 10-band graphic equalizer, you can adjust thesound of the music to suit your listening arrangements. The equalizer includesbuilt-in presets, but you can't save your own equalizations. Moredisappointingly, you can't play music while ripping and encoding.

A welcome bonus is the Music Editor application, which lets you edit musicfiles. For example, you can reduce noise from a WAV file that was recorded fromvinyl before you encode it to MP3 or normalize tracks to ensure a consistentvolume range. MP3 Maker's CD-burning features are minimalist, but they'reeffective enough with supported CD-R/CD-RW drives. Detracting from MP3 Maker'sfeatures is a complex and counterintuitive interface that's designed to dazzle.Users who are comfortable with misused controls and the occasional word inGerman need have no fear, but others might want to look to other MP3-creationproducts, such as MusicMatch Jukebox 5.0 Deluxe. --Guy Hart-Davis ... 1-0 out of 5 stars What a waste of my money and time!
I could not believe the nerve of this company to market this piece of ripoff as ligimate software. After the real estate hogging installation, I was presented with a very impressive but confusing interface that attempted to be trendy and hi-tec. Instead of the friendly and comforting Windows interface (hey, at least give us the three familiar three little buttons on the upper right hand corner to minimize and close!?) I have to 'discover' the close button at the lower right hand corner of this blue-on-blue interface.

What finally got me to uninstall the program faster than trying to get rid of the plague was the fact that no where did it mention that I could only rip TWENTY songs before I have to shell out another $19 bucks for what they called an upgrade!!! Yea, UPGRADE. I call that as a very underhanded, very sly and unethical way of getting more of our hard-earned money just so we could use the software. No thank you! No where on the outside of the box mentioned the 20 song encoding limit... in fact, in it's description, it mentioned the word UNLIMITED conversion of music!

It wouldn't even earn the honor of being shelved with the rest of my software library. The circular file it went.

There are a lot more shareware and freeware out there that would do a very decent job without trying to pull a fast one on us. Look elsewhere and pass this one by! Don't even bother with their diamond, gold and platinum or whatever editions if that is their business ethic.

1-0 out of 5 stars Complete waste of money
I installed this program and it just sat there on my screen like a Windows .BMP file. Clicking on any of the controls did nothing, and it locked up my PC! I deleted the program and reinstalled it again. Same result. I contacted the manufacturer, but they were no help at all (left message, sent email, no response). I finally returned the software to Office Depot where I bought it. They gave me a hard time, because the shrinkwrap was gone, but after they tried installing it themselves, they agreed that the CD was best suited for a coaster and refunded my money. Would have rated it zero stars if Amazon let me.

5-0 out of 5 stars I can't believe my eyes (ears..)
When I first use this software, I thought it was just another MP3 encoder with a pretty skin. Then the next day I found out that I can burn a CD directly from this program. A friend of mine tried out this program as well and he told me that this program includes a professional audio editing feature that normally would cost a lot of money. I personally don't mess around with audio editing but I may one day convert and digitize all my old tapes (which I proudly owned)to MP3 files.

Also I must say that Magix's service is pretty good. I have no problem speaking with a support staff and questions were patiently answered. I asked them about the cross file conversion function and it was explained to me in simple term. I found out that Magix has a dozen other products mostly music and streaming media related. It is good to know that you can later upgrade to something else. Overall, it is well worth the $29 I spent.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good stuff for the moeny
I actually liked the MP3 Maker because it does a lot for the money. Ya get 2 encoder (one is limited to 20 encodings wot sux) but there is still another encoder for free. Ya can rip CD's and burn them direct to CD. Comes wif 2 players to mix MP3's. Bad part: needed patch to actually translate the program into english. Good part: Lot's of features for the money

1-0 out of 5 stars Magix MP3 Player
Is there a "zero star" rating? Clearly not worth the money. MP3 Maker comes with two compression algorithms. One compresses into mp3 format faster than the other. The catch is you have to pay Magix an extra $9.95usd to be able to use it. Aside from the fact that this application is a resource hog, getting assistance from Magix with any problems is less likely than winning the PowerBall lottery. After many ill-fated attempts to correct flaky problems I have found some freeware/shareware packages that work great. Magix support is non-existent. One can spend the money on a toll-call to leave a message or send an e-mail. Either way, you will never get an answered back from Magix. Bottom line, don't waste your money on this product. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly poor product support
I was never able to get the product to work. I tried the product support phone line. The phone line has the standard list of numeric choices... but doesn't let you enter a number midway through the list... you have to wait for the long list of products and choices to be read, even when you have called for the fourth time. The choices for this product lead to a dead end... the product is listed throught the first two levels of the menu, then disappears in the third level. The trail ends with no way to get to a human. The on-line listing of products supported does not list this product at the second level of menu, although it is in the first level.

5-0 out of 5 stars Meets all my expectations!
I looked at the reviews for most of the major software for coping LPs and cleaning them and recording to CDs, including reading the reviews here. I was somewhat hesitant after reading the 1-star review on this program, but went ahead any ways. This program meets and in some cases exceeds my expectations! I got it yesterday and today recorded 4 of my albums onto CDs. It works very well and is fairly intuitive on how to use. I still have the occasional click or crack on the recorded CD, but overall I am very pleased with the results. So far I have only used the program to clean the recordings automatically, I'm sure if I play with the settings some I can probably eliminate the few remaining clicks and cracks. It's a little cumbersome to retrieve files that are removed from the play list and you want to use later, you need to save these as their own file right after they are recorded, otherwise, you have to hunt them down on your hard drive. The program works very quickly (I am using a Dell with a 2 GHz P4 processor, 512 MB SDRAM, and an SB Live 1024 Digital Sound Card), but make sure you have a lot of hard disk space, the 4 albums took 6 GB in .wav format. A few things that I learned along the way: 1) make sure your turntable is grounded, otherwise you might get a humming noise that the program will not clean up (or at least I have not figured out how to clean it up yet, but if the turntable is grounded, this is not an issue), and 2) in your sound card settings, make sure the Line In is not set to Mute. This is stated in the on-CD manual but not in the paper manual that comes with this program. Finally, I found that the price at Amazon was the cheapest around when you consider the free shipping. It arrived in 3 days. I WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PROGRAM FOR ANYONE WHO WANTS TO COPY LPs ONTO CD!

4-0 out of 5 stars UI is easy to learn
I have tried numerous sound editor programs, such as Goldwave, CoolEdit Pro, Nero Wave Editor, and more. They all work well if you have the time to find each little click and pop and manually edit the noise. While the various filters do change the sound track or selections, I found that I didn't have the time to use these programs. I had been using my old Atari Falcon for A to D and editing, because of the simplicity of the software. Mr Steinberg, actually invented and patented much of the wave display and cursor control technology or User Interfaces that we enjoy in many of the sound editors on the market. This UI technology was available to the Atari community in the mid 1980's, then later to Mac users, and now to PC users. I think the Pinnacle/Steinberg Clean 4.0 software and the pre amp hardware is great. It is time to retire my Atari Falcon...Not!

1-0 out of 5 stars Insufferable UI
I purchased Pinnacle Clean Plus after I tried Magix Audio Cleaning Lab. The cool hardware that came with Clean plus looked nice - and I figured the software should be very good too -based on Pinnacle's reputation for excellence.
Well - a swing and a miss folks.
The User Interface is insufferable! It is nearly impossible to even get the system to identify CD tracks - and absolutely impossible to make them accurate.
While the quality of the remastering is good - the ability to actually make a good CD doesn't exist.
I got a free copy of Magix Audio Cleanng Lab 3.0 at COMPUSA (After rebate) and didn't like it at first - but honestly now it Magix got it right while Pinnacle (Steinberg actually wrote the software)completely missed the boat. The Magix software does the remastering nearly as well - I believe Pinnacle has the edge here. BUt it's of absolutely no use if you can't identify and work with tracks accurately.
Now - I use the Pinnacle hardware with the Magix software and can get the job done.
I recommend you get a pre-amp for 35 bucks at Radio Shack - and get Magix Audio Cleaning Lab 3.0 - for now.

5-0 out of 5 stars New Life for your Records
I purchased Clean Plus a few weeks ago and wanted to try putting it through its paces before coming to any conclusions. Well, the conclusion is that this product is FABULOUS for the price that I paid. It was a decision whether to purchase Clean or Clean Plus. I have a very good stereo from Pioneer and hesitated to by the Plus version with its own preamplifier. I highly recommend the Plus with its preamp. I recorded a very scratchy Harry Belafonte album from 1963. In its initial recording, it was barely listenable with all the pops and clicks. After running through the paces of this program, and there are a few, the record now sounds like a professional recording studio has polished up the record. It is great!

One key factor is that the preset settings for the source work fine, but the program also gives you a high degree of custom settings to play with. It does this by creating a seperate file for the cleaned recording. In case you make a mistake, you still have the original file to go back to and try to customize again. Once you get used to the controls, it becomes second nature.

I now have the task of recording over 500 records...but I will enjoy the end product of my labors. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Nero Mix
I got this to make CDs with mp3 files and i haven't been able to make a single CD with it. I tried it on at least 3 computers and they all had a different error reason for it not to burn the CD. I would not buy this again

1-0 out of 5 stars AVOID NERO MIX
just installed mix VERY BUGGY!! AMD k6 Athlon 950 mhz, msi
motherboard, nvidia geforce, win 2k pro. Have nero burning rom,
satisfactory with short comings. problems encountered with mix -
RESOURCE HOG, visualizer in full screen random locks up and freezes control devices such as mouse and esc key. Must ctrl alt del and key scroll to restart - reboot system to solve. can't end task must reboot. VERY ANNOYING. connecting to internet drastically slowed with player running. Do Not Like how icons are replaced with file associations selected, de-select (un-check box) and icons are not restored properly - outlines with no colors. Un install and icons are still not returned to original state, indicating registry corruption. Tried using tweakui rebuild icon - didn't repair.Volume contol now does not use default ding wav with corresponding level to indicate how loud speakers will play, now just gives error boop wav. Does not normalize volume so tracks from different sources have different volume level, requires constant adjusting. VERY ANNOYING. Wish I had not installed. Very disappointed NOT HAPPY. It Now appears that the only way to get my pc back to how it was before NeroMix is to format and reinstall all my programs and files. ... Why do so many program designers (esp. microsoft) release programs long before they will run with just a few glitches vs with major problems. Gotta be greed cause sure do have plenty o cash already! WILL RECOMMEND AVOID INSTALLING MIX TO ALL END USERS.

4-0 out of 5 stars works, but can get cheaper
this software isnt bad, but its nothing really special about it. its just like nero 5.5 (which i do believe is the best burning software out there) bundled with their version of winamp 2.0 and CDex.... just get 5.5 and programs like these, save a little

4-0 out of 5 stars Awesome software
Very easy to use and very powerfull software.

First, it's a media player, similar to WinAmp and many of these features are found in WinAmp. Very easy to make playlists by just dragging whatever files you want from explorer into the playlist window. You can then save the playlist for later use. I actually dragged my entire rock collection (a few 1000 files) into the playlist. Then saved the playlist and I can now shuffle my whole collection. Use the same concept for Internet radion stations like those on Live 365. You can save the station as a "playlist".

You can edit the ID3 tags of your MP3 files, though it's not as full featured as some shareware I've used.

Burning is what you'd expect from Nero. Fast and perfect (helps if you have a burn-proof burner of course). With just a couple clicks, I can burn my whole playlist as either a regular CD or as a data CD. You can also make your own data CD compilations with a similar interface to regular Nero. Not sure what the other poster was talking about with ripping tracks. My rips have full Artist and title descriptions in the filename although it lacks advanced naming conventions such as track number and album (that I can see so far).

MP3Pro encoding is very fast and the quality is excellent. You do have to pay extra for the encoder, but it's worth it.

I'd highly recommend downloading the free update from Nero's web site as it adds a lot of functionality and options.

All in all, you can do all these things with other software, but I find Nero Mix a good place to put it all under one roof so to speak. I hope they add advanced filename generation and ID3 tag generation, but those are minor nitpicks.

1-0 out of 5 stars I have this already, it's called media player...
I bought this software looking simply to burn different audio formats to audio cds, a simple task right? Not for Nero Mix... Nero Mix is [in my opinion]essentially a... copy of Microsoft Media Player with fancy graphics and a horrid "Winamp" style interface that conforms to no known windows conventions. After 20 minutes, I am style trying to figure out how get to the part where I can look for my mp3's in a directory and compile them onto a cd. I read a review that said there is crossfading and removal of the 2 second pauses but could only find an option to GLOBALLY remove the pauses and not mix them on a track by track bassis. I can find nothing on crossfading, so much for mixes. The worst part is you can't just select files off your hard disk, you have to make your mixes out of their "Playlists". Also when ripping wave files off of audio cd's it lists them as "Track 1" even though it gathered the info from CDDB. Everything about this software [is bad] so far and I am done messing with it. Buyer beware, you can't return software, no matter how hard it bites... ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars The original solution for old iPod on Windows 98SE
Note: The new iPod has both Mac and Windows support.

I like XPlay. It does what it says and it does it well. You can even use it to update the firmware on your iPod -- just like you can with a Mac. The only thing it's missing is an MP3 encoder to rip CDs directly. You'll need separate ripping software.

But that's a small inconvenience when you consider XPlay takes something that is Mac-only and makes it work seamlessly with your PC.

Makes the old Mac-only iPod work with FireWire enabled Win98 and WinME PCs
A good plug-n-play solution for iPod and Windows
You can use your iPod with a Mac, too!
Allows you to manage music collections
Edits ID3 tags
Creates playlists

No CD ripper to make MP3s
You need FireWire (IEEE 1394, iLink) on your PC (you may need to buy a FireWire card or a 4-6 pin adapter cable)
Apple has released iTunes for Win2K and WinXP as a free download
The new iPod has both Mac and Windows support built in

The bottom line is you can download iTunes for Win2K and WinXP for free. But, if you have a Windows 98 or ME PC, XPlay is a good solution that is much less expensive than a new Windows license.

1-0 out of 5 stars A Joke
No one should have to pay money for this.

iPods for Windows should be 100% compatible or else return it.

Don't pay money for this software; it's a joke.

5-0 out of 5 stars xplay or musicmatch
i used music match for the first 9 months of owning my ipod and i liked it alot, but i noticed that when trying to save some songs or add some songs to my ipod, it would select some of the songs and not move them. it also would mess up the way the song was written so the ipod wouldnt be able to read it and play it. xplay has worked flawlessly as just a program for adding songs and removeing them. it does not change the format of the song and it does not make my ipod skip songs the way music match does. music match messes up the ipod, thats all there is to it!

3-0 out of 5 stars Needs improvement - not necessary at all with new iPODs
If you just bought or are thinking of buying a new model iPod , save your money - you dont need this at all. A lot of people have touted XPlay as better than Musicmatch but I disagree. Most people try Musicmatch and don't bother to download the tutorial files which show you in detail all the great options available in MM. I have both and to be fair, xPlays only advantage with the older iPods was that you could use a Mac iPod on windows pcs with XPlay. Now that Apple has introduced the 30 gig and smaller iPod, its not necessary as there is not a Mac or seperate windows Ipod anymore. Whatever you computer you use, Apple has included both iTunes and MM, and the newest ipod recognizes the computer you plug it into, eliminating the big need for xPlay. So since the MM and iTunes come included free with the iPod I recommend saving your money because there is no real need for xPlay unless you have an older Mac iPod that you want to use on a Windows pc. That is the only good reason for purchasing xPlay. Please take the time to learn Musicmatch - the supertagging feature is great and there are a lot of neat features I haven't listed as well. Enjoy your iPod and see my review of the newest 30 gig model.

1-0 out of 5 stars What this product could really do
I'm a PC user. Don't hate me. It's what I work with and the platform I develop for. I'm using a new XP laptop at home and have been dumping many of my CDs onto it to listen to. The format I chose to save them as is WMA. It sounds great and creates files that are half the size of MP3s, saving drive space and making file management easier.

Numerous products (MP3 Players, iPod-like Jukeboxes, etc) are accommodating WMA format. I realize that this is a proprietary Windows format and it doesn't make sense for Apple to support it on the iPod. But why make a product like XPlay.. which should enable me, the Windows user, to use an iPod.. without supporting my habits?

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but it seems this product doesn't offer the ability to convert WMA files to MP3 on-the-fly before transferring them to the iPod. That would be truly useful. That would be a product made for the Windows user. THAT would encourage this PC-user to buy a Mac product. The iPod is cool. I'd love to have one. My PC has FireWire so I could take full advantage of it. It, and this software, just unfortunately don't meet my needs.

I'm looking at a Creative Labs Nomad Zen instead, which doesn't feature the PIM software that the iPod does, but is cheaper too. It would be nice if the iPod could support my Outlook Contacts and Calendar as well. I haven't seen anything that says whether or not this is definitively true. (The PC Support on the iPod site is 1 paragraph long)

I just bought this software today and could not get it to run properly. It seemed to install successfully. Every time I try and launch the program it opens up an installer for another graphics application I have on my system. If I cancel out of this the interface comes up but it cannot see any audio CD's I have in my CD drive. It did recognize .wav files on my hard drive. Since I bought the thing to create my own compilation CD's I cannot use it. I am running Windows 2000 professional as my OS. I went to Stomp's web site and could not find any info on this product. I hope that I am able to take it back. If I could give it 0 stars I would have. There are plenty of apps of this nature available. I'm sorry I tried the wrong one. Run the other way!!! ... Read more

Cut, edit, and mix your MP3 files with Data Becker's MP3 Editor. While MP3 files are easy to download and share, repeated use can damage files. MP3 Editor prevents such loss, and also lets you edit your MP3 files without first converting to another format.

This handy program is compatible with any MP3 file and supports variable bit rate (VBR) encoded files. You can format your files for recording onto CDs, edit and customize files without compression loss, eliminate abrupt cuts, and splice together your favorites.

The MP3 Editor's simple, clean interface and unlimited undo feature make it easy to use and quick to master. Multiple cascading windows offer quick file access. A range of options lets you play back and loop your MP3 files, adjust fade depth and duration, as well as uniformly increase and decrease volume levels. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars OMISSION
What the product description above doesn't tell you is, that the manufacturer certifies that this product will ALSO RUN ON NT4 (requires SP6) but don't take my word for it, here's the link to look for yourself:

I don't have the product yet, that was the first thing I wanted to check. And I have no clue why Amazon[.com] decides for me that I am a gamer because I want to remain anonymous, but I am not a gamer (I know, you don't care, I do).

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding value
This is a great little program. I copy audiocassette books into MP3 files so I can listen to them on one burned disk rather than carry around a bunch of tapes in the car, and this program allows me to easily remove dead spaces and empty space at the beginning and end of the tapes. It's very easy to use and the applications are innumerable. You can cut and paste almost to the bit level. A terrific value.

1-0 out of 5 stars Save your money
I've found MP3 Editor to be completely useless. You cannot make a CD from your MP3 files with it and the editing is too limited. I can't even adjust the volume of the whole song easily. Plus, I bought it because it had a rebate which now [I'm being denied] by saying that my receipt was dated outside of the offer, making this software a double ripoff.

1-0 out of 5 stars This is ...
This program is good at creating fade in/out, and might do splicing, but it does not do what they claim it will do.
In their advertising they say, "Dude. Who knows where that MP3's been? Clean it up. Kill clicks and beeps. Cut. Edit. Mix. Make it your own. And Enjoy."
It will not "clean up" an MP3. It is a cut and paste program. You can cut and remove a portion of the song that has a click, but it won't edit out noises, which is what I bought it for. And it has a somewhat difficult interface. This program ....

5-0 out of 5 stars An Ideal Editor
Most people do not need an MP3 editor, because they use songs ripped by others. However, if you are like me, who wants to convert all the collections from albums and cassettes to MP3, this is a must. I use MusicMatch JukeBox, version 6.1 for converting the whole side of an album or cassette to a large MP3 file. That file may be 20 to 50 minutes long, and it may contain many songs. After that, I load that file into this editor by Data Becker. I can visually see the separation of songs, and easily identify for cutting each one out. I haven't seen any other program with this capability. Also, this program is exceptionally fast. It reads the large composite file in a minute, and saves the individual pieces on your hard drive in just a few seconds. I was very pleased to see the speed. Also, there is no limit on file size. I left one speech to convert to MP3, went away, and when I came back, the file was 200 minutes long (amazingly over three hours long!) with most of it being blank. With any other program I would have started all over again rather than coaxing hours of headache reading and editing unwanted portion. But this MP3 Editor read the whole file in three minutes, removed the unwanted blank space in one minute, and saved the clean product back on hard drive in another couple of minutes. That one incidence alone was worth to me the price of 20 bucks + shipping. Now my dream is coming true, I will be able to convert all life's collection into MP3, most comfortably. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Better buy Music Creator
It is a great software, friendly, easy (after some practice, reading and having some music knoweldge) and beatiful. I love the way everything is displayed. My only question is : should you buy this Music Pack for $...or Music Creator 2002 for $...?. In this Music Pack you will find the same Music Creator 2002 (really the same, it's one CD-ROM made by Cakewalk), a MIDI-Joystick port cord that you can buy for $... (I guess, not sure MSRP), some little extra software and a 30-day trial version of Pyro MP3. In today's world the 30-day trial versions are free. I may be missing something, am I ?

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product
I am new to the world of midi. I had previously purchased some midi software that was simply horrible, it was in no way friendly to those who are new to midi, the midi cord i had obtained also did not work. This package however, is very nice. its simple and easy to use. It even has an instruction booklet(instead of a card telling you how you can purchase an instruction booklet). Also included is a working midi cable, which is a nice touch for those of us who do not wish to purchase one separatly. There is, of course, better software out there, but if you are new to world of midi, this is a great place to start. this package is affordable (some software can go up to hundreds of dollars), complete (i have yet to see a midi software package that comes with an instruction booklet and a midi cord (the cards telling you to purchase a sams teach yourself whatever in 24 hours are really annoying), and its really easy to use. A great product for a great price! ... Read more
