4-0 out of 5 stars Great player but too expensive
I've had the free version of Real Jukebox for over a year now. It is the best player I have ever used in my life. OpenMG jukebox has way too many flaws, musicmatch is cool looking, but complicated and it doesn't work too well either. Windows player is my 2nd favorite player, but now it is 80% corrupted on my PC. It freezes every time I load it now, and before it got destroyed, it still had a problem with playing tracks burned on my hard drive. If I clicked on two quickly, it pops up with a "cannot play multiple tracks" message and won't let me play anything until I restart the program. Winamp is a sad little silver player that is nothing but a bare-bones music player. Now Real Jukebox has none of those problems. I've burned over 700 tracks onto my hard drive with it, and not a single file is corrupted, doesn't play properly, or skip. I mess around with it a lot when I'm bored, dragging things around, clicking on 100's of songs, and download extra 3rd party skins and visualizations. Not once has it froze or not worked properly. I even copy songs from Kazaa and put it on my Real Jukebox, and it plays it perfectly. The only problem is that the full screen player looks boring. But who cares, if you want it to look cool, put it on skin mode. I've read some other reviews on the Plus player, and I recommend you don't get it. Especially for [$$]...

2-0 out of 5 stars Eh, not much difference between the free version
Yes you too can go out and pay thirty dollars for a piece of software that is dwarfed by competing software, and is available for free on the website of the company. So what does it do? You can record media from off of CDs, and organize MP3s and Real Audio files on your computer. So nothing really special. However, the software also comes with lots of sample songs to add to your music collection. Eh, thats all I can say, get the free version, if you like it pay thirty bucks for it then.

4-0 out of 5 stars MP3 Work Horse
I've been a user of Real Jukebox Plus since the 1.0 release. The 1.0 release was a decent piece of software, still a bit rough, but useful. With this new release, the Real Jukebox 2 Plus, Real has gotten things right and it is one useful piece of software. It might not be as fancy as some software out there, but it does everything I need it to do and it does it well. If you're using the free version of Real Jukebox there is one real reasons to upgrade to the Plus version and that is the VBR encoding. With the free version you can go to the Real site and get an upgrade to let you do encoding of MP3s to 320k, but the upgrade does not let you do VBR (Variable Bit Rate). The Plus version does and it does it well. If you haven't used either version here's what's good about the package: If you have a CD-RW drive you can select songs from out of your library and burn an audio CD for use in the car or what not (though you're limited to 2x burning with the free included Roxio plug-in, if you want to burn faster you have to pay Roxio $19.99 for the upgraded plug-in). Real Jukebox rips and encodes extremely fast (on my machine it does it as fast as my CD-RW drive can read the audio disk). There is a radio function that's nice. And the cross-referencing and sorting of your music library is great. I would recommend that you try the free version of Real Jukebox first, then if you like it and want to encoding your music with VBR (which does sound better at a lower cost of disk space) then upgrade and get the Plus version.

4-0 out of 5 stars It's a cool mp3 player
This is a cool jukebox as is musicmatch. Both are buggy in the plus versions although the free versions are much better.I love the free skins, visuals, and added freebies they give you.I've tried Winamp and it sucks! It doesn't record, have smoothe looking skins,or have a mp3 to cd feature built-in.Also it does distort the sound when you use the "fake amp" that's supposed to amplify the sound on pooer speakers.Realjukebox comes in a virtual entertainment center pakage, bundled with Realplayer 8.These can come in handy when you stream music and video!

2-0 out of 5 stars Nice interface but too many problems
Real Jukebox has a good look and some good functionality, but it has more than it's share of problems. As the other reviewer mentioned, it takes up a HUGE amount of memory. That means it is VERY unstable and crashes ALL THE TIME. It has a cool feature where it will get the album title and track info from the CD online database. But this feature is flawed and does not refresh properly. The visualization feature is very bad compared to the incredibly cool visualizations you can get with Winamp. The free version of Real Jukebox is SUPERIOR to the full version. It runs faster and has fewer problems. And I must disagree with the other reviewer. The tech support is terrible. As a matter of fact, Real, Inc. does not even provide it's own support, choosing rather to farm it out to a company called Talisma Corporation. Their idea of support is to email pages from the website. They don't read your emails or try to solve your problems. And, really, how could they. THEY didn't make the product. Long story short, DON'T BUY REALJUKEBOX. If you want to try it, download the free version. If you want a better player, download WINAMP. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Total Burn
Installation is too nagging. If you have other software in that category, you may not be able to use it after installing total burn. Keep that in mind.

Once on, it's nice. I used their dvd maker to learn how to use Pinnacle Studio 8.
You can link avi's to make one big file, but it likes to keep the opening & ending fades. I'd use another program for that if you can. But I have had some good results with it.

Making Data dvd isn't bad, just have the right dvd for your burner. Sometimes it's an issue with cd burners, but that's so common any longer, most house brands work. DVD's are a bit different.
The make a label software is only good if you haven't anything else. If you Print Master or Shop, then you have a better program already.
Oh, Total doesn't like Avery's After Burner software. Just a tip.

Overall, for one package deal, it's worth thirty bucks, more or less.

1-0 out of 5 stars Demo Nero instead.
I bought it because I trust the Broderbund name. It does not run on my Win98SE machine with a Sony DRU500 drive. It BSODs at the bootup of windows because a Broderbund/TotalBurn .VXD is incorrect for my system. Win98 users beware. Because I did not real research before purchasing, I only discovered the feature set after I'd boughten the package. This Totalburn package does not have the features a power user needs.

Nero.com has their demo for Nero 5.5. I am going to try that out. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not for VCDs
Click `n Burn Pro worked well when I tried burning data or audio CDs, but it didn't work when trying to burn Video CDs on a Gateway PIII-933MHZ system with 384MB DRAM and a 70Gb hard drive, running Windows ME (English version). None of the five media players installed in my computer nor a stand alone Pioneer DVD player could read the VCDs. I contacted tech support twice, and was told to try downloading another media player (Choice Caster) for my computer or try burning CDRW discs to use in my stand alone DVD player. Neither suggestion worked.

Recently, I downloaded NTI's CD Maker 2000 Professional for a free 10-day trial, available at their website. VCDs burnt with NTI's software is working well in my computer, but not on my stand alone DVD player. B's Recorder Gold (Japanese version) seems to be the only software program that can burn VCDs that work both in my computer and stand alone DVD player. But finding the English version of this program has been a challenge. I know it's available, but I'm still trying to find somewhere that sells it.

I think Click `n Burn Pro is a cheap, reliable software program for data and audio recordings. But, why not buy Click `n Burn Plus instead? It performs the same functions and is cheaper. For VCD recording, there are definitely much better software available.

Ultimately, I think the right CD burning software for you depends on what kind of computer you're using, what you plan to do with it, and how much time and money you're willing to spend finding it. Personally, I wouldn't have bought Click `n Burn Pro if I knew what I know now... shoulda, coulda, woulda...

Good luck.

4-0 out of 5 stars Click 'n Burn Pro and 24x Burners
When I first started using Click 'n Burn Pro I was running a 16X max HP cd-cdrw and the program was great. I never had any problems with underrun or any other burn errors. With the easy user interface creating a cd of any type was very simple. Then one day by burner goes bad and will not recognize any blank disks so I purchased the new Sony 24x max burner. Once the HW was installed I tried to burn a disk and the software would not recognize the drive, hence the only problem I have with the software. So far there is not an upgrade to solve this issue. So beware if your HW is to new the software will not work. As soon as they get an upgrade I would suggest using no other program but Stomp's Click 'n Burn Pro. It has all the features a new user will need plus the advanced components a user will need as they get better at burning disks.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't expect help when it doesn't work!
Bought program after reading many reviews. I have the newest of computers. I'm not a novice. Have had 7 other computers. Program will not recognize my 48 speed cd burner. Called tech support and never was called back. A program that doesn't work is usless. Picked up version of roxio. Works fine.

2-0 out of 5 stars It Didn't Work
This product was not able to make VCDs that could be shown either on my computer or on any DVD player we tried.

Taking the advice of another reviewer, I bought MVP (see my review) and was able to make a good VCD in about a half-hour.

I would not buy this product.

1-0 out of 5 stars Fatal Error After Installation (Windows XP System)
I just purchased this today. I have already decided to return the software. After I installed Digital Studio Vers. 2 and the included software for video editing (MovieShop 6 Select), I could not start MovieShop 6 Select. I got a dialog box informing me of a "Fatal Error" and "Cannot initiate. Please reinstall." I uninstalled and reinstalled twice, and it still gave me the same error message. I have Windows XP operating system and my computer exceeds the minimum system requirements for this software. All installation instructions were followed. Online technical support weren't helpful. Calling technical support (not toll-free) would require me to hold for about 25 minutes. Technical support email response time is 5 hours. I decided it's just not worth the time. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars good
I bought this program a while ago, for a function it couldn't do, but it is, in my opinion, the BEST mp3 creator.

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of money!!!!
This program is horrible with a capital "H"!!! I bought it about 6 months ago because my Rio software wasn't working. It doesn't read the portable device (Rio 800) and you can't go to the settings to configure that. And when I emailed Magix, forget it!! They replied about 2 weeks later, saying that I needed Blitz software (or something to do with my Rio not having Blitz) and that I needed to use my Rio software. This program is only good for reading and burning CD tracks and that's all. Don't try copying songs to a portable. The worst part is that I couldn't take it back to the store I bought it from. Please don't waste your money on this. You might as well use this CD as a coaster for your drinks.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money!!!
I was looking for a software to convert my audio cd's to mp3's. I wasted a lot of time trying to get this software to work. I finally gave up and returned it. It didn't make sense to keep wasting time. It wasn't user friendly at all. I downloaded freebies that worked better than this. I decided to purchased Musicmatch Jukebox and I'm very pleased with it. It does a lot more than convert audio tracks to mp3 files. Magix needs to recall this software and work on it some more.

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible experience!!
I wasted most of my weekend trying to get this software to convert some songs on a cd to mp3 files. No luck at all. I tried everything. Nothing worked. I even went to there website for help or to contact their support group. Poor info and support. Don't waste your money on this. It needs more work!

1-0 out of 5 stars Gee. Threw that money away.
I am still angry about this one as it cost me about four wasted days trying to make it work. Let me see, what does work in this bug infested software set. Uhh, not the burner. Pretty enough visual fx, I guess. Wow, you can play your playlists--major coding effort there, huh, Magix? Studied the documentation for hours but no help that their own manual completely ignores all the more obscure menu choices on their interface. No response from the support email addy after 48 hours--everybody laid off? Buyer beware on this mess. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Aimed at the music enthusiast who needs a one-stop MP3 solution, Magix'sMP3 Maker provides a full set of features for creating and listening to MP3files, as well as for burning custom CDs that contain them. MP3 Maker rips toWAV and encodes effectively to MP3, MP2, and WMA. Its standard encoder producesgood-sounding audio, but encodes slowly, managing little better than real time.MP3 Maker also includes a 20-file trial version of QDesign's MP3 encoder, whichproduces higher-quality audio, and encodes more quickly. Serious users will wantto upgrade to the full QDesign encoder. A wizard registers you with CDDB, theCD-information database, so that MP3 Maker can tag MP3 files automatically. Youalso can edit tags manually.

Twin players with cross-fade capability provide good flexibility. Each playerhas a pitch control, and, with the 10-band graphic equalizer, you can adjust thesound of the music to suit your listening arrangements. The equalizer includesbuilt-in presets, but you can't save your own equalizations. Moredisappointingly, you can't play music while ripping and encoding.

A welcome bonus is the Music Editor application, which lets you edit musicfiles. For example, you can reduce noise from a WAV file that was recorded fromvinyl before you encode it to MP3 or normalize tracks to ensure a consistentvolume range. MP3 Maker's CD-burning features are minimalist, but they'reeffective enough with supported CD-R/CD-RW drives. Detracting from MP3 Maker'sfeatures is a complex and counterintuitive interface that's designed to dazzle.Users who are comfortable with misused controls and the occasional word inGerman need have no fear, but others might want to look to other MP3-creationproducts, such as MusicMatch Jukebox 5.0 Deluxe. --Guy Hart-Davis ... 1-0 out of 5 stars What a waste of my money and time!
I could not believe the nerve of this company to market this piece of ripoff as ligimate software. After the real estate hogging installation, I was presented with a very impressive but confusing interface that attempted to be trendy and hi-tec. Instead of the friendly and comforting Windows interface (hey, at least give us the three familiar three little buttons on the upper right hand corner to minimize and close!?) I have to 'discover' the close button at the lower right hand corner of this blue-on-blue interface.

What finally got me to uninstall the program faster than trying to get rid of the plague was the fact that no where did it mention that I could only rip TWENTY songs before I have to shell out another $19 bucks for what they called an upgrade!!! Yea, UPGRADE. I call that as a very underhanded, very sly and unethical way of getting more of our hard-earned money just so we could use the software. No thank you! No where on the outside of the box mentioned the 20 song encoding limit... in fact, in it's description, it mentioned the word UNLIMITED conversion of music!

It wouldn't even earn the honor of being shelved with the rest of my software library. The circular file it went.

There are a lot more shareware and freeware out there that would do a very decent job without trying to pull a fast one on us. Look elsewhere and pass this one by! Don't even bother with their diamond, gold and platinum or whatever editions if that is their business ethic.

1-0 out of 5 stars Complete waste of money
I installed this program and it just sat there on my screen like a Windows .BMP file. Clicking on any of the controls did nothing, and it locked up my PC! I deleted the program and reinstalled it again. Same result. I contacted the manufacturer, but they were no help at all (left message, sent email, no response). I finally returned the software to Office Depot where I bought it. They gave me a hard time, because the shrinkwrap was gone, but after they tried installing it themselves, they agreed that the CD was best suited for a coaster and refunded my money. Would have rated it zero stars if Amazon let me.

5-0 out of 5 stars I can't believe my eyes (ears..)
When I first use this software, I thought it was just another MP3 encoder with a pretty skin. Then the next day I found out that I can burn a CD directly from this program. A friend of mine tried out this program as well and he told me that this program includes a professional audio editing feature that normally would cost a lot of money. I personally don't mess around with audio editing but I may one day convert and digitize all my old tapes (which I proudly owned)to MP3 files.

Also I must say that Magix's service is pretty good. I have no problem speaking with a support staff and questions were patiently answered. I asked them about the cross file conversion function and it was explained to me in simple term. I found out that Magix has a dozen other products mostly music and streaming media related. It is good to know that you can later upgrade to something else. Overall, it is well worth the $29 I spent.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good stuff for the moeny
I actually liked the MP3 Maker because it does a lot for the money. Ya get 2 encoder (one is limited to 20 encodings wot sux) but there is still another encoder for free. Ya can rip CD's and burn them direct to CD. Comes wif 2 players to mix MP3's. Bad part: needed patch to actually translate the program into english. Good part: Lot's of features for the money

1-0 out of 5 stars Magix MP3 Player
Is there a "zero star" rating? Clearly not worth the money. MP3 Maker comes with two compression algorithms. One compresses into mp3 format faster than the other. The catch is you have to pay Magix an extra $9.95usd to be able to use it. Aside from the fact that this application is a resource hog, getting assistance from Magix with any problems is less likely than winning the PowerBall lottery. After many ill-fated attempts to correct flaky problems I have found some freeware/shareware packages that work great. Magix support is non-existent. One can spend the money on a toll-call to leave a message or send an e-mail. Either way, you will never get an answered back from Magix. Bottom line, don't waste your money on this product. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Steep learning curve, too early for community help
The pundits are giving it a thumbs down for complexity and high cost, but unless you're using a G4 dual-proc with IDvd, then choices are limited to either basic featureless toy-ware, or this type of muscle that may require a few more minutes than usual with the manual (the interface is far from intuitive). Good product, Roxio - but drop the price by [money] to really get your market share! Ever hear of the Laffer curve? ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Order 4.1 from website
If you order this suite 4.0 you will have to download a 15 mg upgrade to 4.1 and also download two design CD's. In the end you spend more money when you order this outdated new product.

4-0 out of 5 stars FlipAlbum
This program is the best one I've found for viewing photos. I've scanned all of my old photo albums and created CDs to give to family members, and it's been really easy cataloging new photos as I take them (digital). The mp3 feature in the new version has been great. Some people have complained that the program doesn't have a photo-editing feature, but I already have Photoshop (and I think most scanners and digital cameras come with some sort of software).

4-0 out of 5 stars No Frills - Meets the Goal though
I use this for distributing photos on CD to others without having to spend time/effort explaining how to get at the photos. FlipAlbum is a nice solution for taking your .JPG's of any size/resolution and getting them quickly into a FlipAlbum which works like a simulated photo album where anyone can easily figure out how to click between pages, view thumbnails and hav a slide show.

FlipAlbums work well enough for posting on the web where others use the same simple method for viewing as FlipAlbums distributed on a CD.

4.0 Suite includes the CD utility which works easily enough to create files for a self-launching CD(when the destination PC has autorun enabled for the CD drive). This utility relies on your existing CD burning software and simply creates the files and give simple instructions what files to put on the CD.

The flipalbum itself is aimed at viewing your photos and includes no photo editing/adjustments like brightness/contrast, redeye features. You are expected to have decent files before copying them into FlipAlbum. You can however, change orientation of the pictures. I would hope future versions add some rudimentary picture enhancement features.

Also the look and feel customization in FlipAlbum is rudimentary (i.e. change the text on the cover, change colors/backgrounds of the pages and add .MP3 or .WAV music to different sections of the album. I found all of these features, cute enough but not very robust or extensive. But that's not the purpose of this software.

If you want a simple, fool proof way to get your photos on the web or especially to send a CD to grandma so she can pop it in and then painlessly flip through all of your recent photos, then I recommend FlipAlbum 4.0 or FlipAlbum 4.0 Suite (w/ CD creation). ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Roxio Ruins Another Good Program
Had I read the fine print on the box and realized Roxio owned Cequadrat, I would have never bought WinOnCD. After seeing how Roxio butchered EZ CD, I feared the same for WinOnCD. The program will not recognize both of my burners, and two web-site email support requests over the last 10 days have gone unanswered. Not even an acknowledgement of the support request! How hard it is to have the web site send at least a canned email reply acknowledging the request? Support is non-existent.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Burning Software
Burning CDs was easy with its via drag & drop feature which is what I mainly use this program for and its audio editing tools are fantastic! Editing tools include removal of scratches, clicks and background noise. In WinOnCD 5.0 superior Algorithmx technology is used for noise cleaning and its MP3 music album feature allowed me to playback several hours of music. If your looking to get great burning CDs, this is the program to get.

5-0 out of 5 stars Two Thumbs Up
This product sets the standard in CD burning software!Burning CDs was easy with its via drag & drop feature which is what I mainly use this program for and its audio editing tools are fantastic! Editing tools include removal of scratches, clicks and background noise. In WinOnCD 5.0 superior Algorithmx technology is used for noise cleaning and its MP3 music album feature allowed me to playback several hours of music. The nice thing about this program is that WAV, CDA, WMA, and MP3 files can be mixed and the program will automatically take care of the necessary conversion. Also included is a 10-band graphic equalizer and hall effect, track splitting, fade in and fade out, cross fade, effects, live and still analysis. WinOnCD also stores the artist and title information of any inserted disc. Although most software applications claim that there Windows XP compatible this one actually is, I upgraded to Windows XP awhile back and I have had no problems with the compatibility of the two programs. Organizing and editing track names and properties are easy and simple to do. If you're a serious user or just getting started with burning CDs, you won't get anything but good quality CDs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product

2-0 out of 5 stars Average Features
I purchased it to record the old cassettes to CDs, but it did not work. And technical support was not very helpful. Ultimately I had to fall back on Windows Sound recorder, making me wonder why I purchased it.

For ripping music from CDs to MP3s, it works just fine, though user interface is complicated unlike other software where you can just copy and paste the files.

The retail version is costlier than the one available on MusicMatch site. I paid more for version 6, while version 7 was being sold on the site for less. Also there is no Software Update option available from the menu, though you can go to the site and down load and install new version.

My suggestion is - try the free-download version and compare with trial version of other products, before purchasing it. Overall, I will rate it as average performing product with average price. Nothing to rave about!

1-0 out of 5 stars JUST TERRIBLE !!!!!
I have a Dell xps with 1024 ram, windows XP pro and 120 GB. I installed musicmatch and it immediately disable my Nec 1100a DVD/CD read and write drive. I tried to enable the driver through my "Device Manager" (which showed the drive disable), and when I tried to I got error message that there was a program conflict and windows could not enable the drive. I sent a e-mail to tech support SIX days ago and still have not heard back.
The only other product I have that uses the drive is Roxio 7.
I have uninstalled musicmatch and used the windows "restore" to get my computer back to where it should be with my NEC 1100a DvD/CD--R/RW drive working just fine.
My advice is to stay away from this product because of conflicts that may arise with other programs and the piss-poor tech support !!!!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed and Dissatisfied with your product !....
I think that it is only fair that I send you this email. In the past I have used many different CD burning ROM software's including,Nero, easy CD creator etc. Unfortunately I would have to say that the music match jukebox CD burner is by far the most difficult and the most complicated I've ever used. One reason why I say this is because on all other softwares they have icons to guide you through just about everything. The music match jukebox is very poorly laid out. No icons, no guidance what so ever. There are several things I don't like including, sometimes my recordings come out slightly distorted and for some reason when I'm recording from a music folder the software constantly wants to go on line. I'm sad to say that I am very disappointed and dissatisfied with your product !

4-0 out of 5 stars Nothing out of the ordinary
This thing is pretty cool. I can change all of my cd's into wma or mp3 format, even WAV. It works great with many top of the line mp3 players. Samsung makes the best. If you are trying to rip your cd's into mp3's, this is a very good program for beginners. Why did I not give it 5 stars? Because the one flaw is that it won't work with Windows XP.

4-0 out of 5 stars Software Works Best with HP Record Now
I have read the other reviews for this product, and I have to say that I would agree with most people that it sucks...IF I didn't have HP RecordNow on my system. Burning CD's off of MMJB is very time consuming and irritating, but with Recordnow, a separate program that came with my PC, I find it to be the easiest way to organize and burn my own compliation CD's from my collection.

I tried using Windows Media Player, but I became very frustrated with the file types that it saves your songs under. Microsoft seems too paranoid about copyrights and so forth. Deservedly so, because they are a target of legal action.

So...my recommendation is NOT to get MMJB unless you have a darn good burning software program. Also, to the person who wanted to record tapes onto CD's...Man, why would you wanna do that? Just break down, buy the CDs instead, and then burn them. Everyone knows that the sound quality on tapes just [stinks], so what's the point of even putting it on a CD? CD's were made for better sound quality, and you're defeating the purpose if you burn the contents of the crummy tapes onto a CD.

Anyway, I like MMJB, and will continue to use it. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work, No customer service
I primarily got this software in order to burn CDs. The only problem is that it does not recognize my CD-R/RW. I went to their websight for help, and all there was was a place to send an e-mail. Well I sent an e-mail telling Macmillian what was wrong. I didn't hear back from them so I called their tech support line, I waited on hold for TWO HOURS, and still never got through to a person. I finaly got a reply for my e-mail today, a week after I sent it, and they told me I needed to download an update. I downloaded it, but when I try to run it it says I dont have the software on my system and shuts down. This has just been one head-ache after another.

1-0 out of 5 stars Digital CD Recording Studio Professional Edition
This product caused nothing but problems for me and my system from the time I unpacked it from the box. After trying to install it and hours on technical support, I had to completely format my hard drive and re-install windows to get my system up and running again. After asking for a refund from the manufacturer, I sent the software back to them..... that was 4 weeks ago, still no refund.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great product
