Amazon.com Review

If you are looking for an all-around application that can burn different kinds of CDs, NTI CD-Maker Pro should be on your list of applications to consider. Use it to make both data and music CDs; in either case, the process is very easy. Simply drag the files you want from your hard drive and drop them onto the pane showing the CD contents. A bar along the bottom of the screen gives an idea of how much of a CD's available capacity will be taken up with the data you want to copy.

NTI CD-Maker Pro is also able to copy disks, which is great if you have a data backup disk and feel safest with more than one copy of it, or an archive of important photographs you want to share with family and friends. If you are keen on music, you will definitely appreciate the ability to convert between MP3 and WAV files. The software also comes with a component for designing CD labels and inserts for cases, so your creations can be presented professionally, which is great for wedding photo and video CDs.

With CD writers increasingly part of the layout of new PCs, no home is complete without software to assist in CD production. NTI CD-Maker Pro is very easy to use (you can literally start to create your own CDs within minutes of installing the software) and is versatile enough to keep most home users happy. --Sandra Vogel, Amazon.co.uk ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Return Roxio and get this product
All of the companies I've always worked for used Easy CD Creator, so I bought it because it said it was compatible with XP. I've had so many problems with the Roxio product that I'm selling it. It doesn't work with Windows 2000 either. I've lost several CD's as well. I tried the CD Maker Pro and was amazed that it worked well and fast under XP. I was even running several programs in the background while it was burning and didn't have any problems. After talking with our person in charge of making CD's I found out that she had problems with the Roxio product as well.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible
I have found this product to be a complete bucket of guano. Although it hasn't "Hung" my computer it creates CD's that are not recognized by the computer they were created on, let alone a remote box. It creates CD's that stop in the middle of a track, or "hang" not playing the track at all. It is consistent in that it creates an unreliable CD in either CD Copy or Data mode. I won't use it again.

1-0 out of 5 stars Amazon.com is strange
I checked back to see how things were going for this sorry piece of software and lo and behold, there were only 3 reviews and 2 of them were positive!. I still have my useless copy and will sell it cheap if I can find it. If you like a locked up computer and need coasters, by all means buy this software. I can't believe it still up for sale!! Even though it professes to be Xp compatable there is no way. I posted a more detailed review previously and have no idea why Amazon has deleted it.

NTI Cd maker made me many 22 pistol targets before I finally gave up on it. The asking price for new or used is way too much!

1-0 out of 5 stars It Will Make Great Coasters, though
I agree with the two previous reviewers. It caused my computer to lock up every time. I would have to reboot since Ctrl-Alt-Del would not work. Definitely a waste of money.

1-0 out of 5 stars Time-Waster
Every time I try to burn a CD, the computer hangs and has to be rebooted. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Cakewalk's Pyro organizes and converts the digital music that flowsbetween the tech-lovin' audiophile's computer and his or her home stereo, portable MP3player, or preferred new-fangled audio device. It's not the first all-in-onesoftware product of its kind, but it does offer unique sound-processingenhancements and CD-creation tools--from burning to labeling--that may appeal tousers who wish to customize files with sound effects.

Getting started is a breeze: select media files from your hard drive or CD,click a button, and wait as the tracks convert into your desired format. Onceconverted, the tracks can be played through the integrated media player.Environmental Sound Processing effects optimize the MP3 and WMA audio output (CDaudio is unaffected). These effects sculpt the sound for listening viaheadphones, a desktop system's speakers, or a home stereo. Other settingssimulate a concert hall, stadium, and orchestra hall, among other environments, adding flavor to certain recordings. Customizable effects such as flange, chorus, delay/echo, and reverb are available as well, though theadvanced-controls interface may intimidate some. Home-recording enthusiasts will benefitmost from these effects (and hundreds of additional downloadable DirectXeffects), since the settings can be permanently affixed to sound files. Generalusers who simply want to turn their favorite CDs into MP3s will likely playaround with these effects a few times for entertainment value, then ignorethem.

Moving the tunes off your hard drive is, in theory, a snap: a few clicks sendyour files to a portable media player or onto a blank CD. However, both optionshave potential limitations. Only a few portable players--Creative Labs's andS2/Diamond's most popular brands--are compatible with Pyro. The CD-burningfunction supports a wider range of popular CD-R/CD-RW drives, though ourostensibly compatible model (HP 8100 CD-Writer Plus) refused to successfullyburn a CD after numerous tweaks.

When properly configured with the user's hardware, Pyro provides plenty ofsound-sculpting options for the amateur music engineer. But for those who simplywish to convert CD tracks to MP3 or WMA files for general listening, one of thedozens of other popular--and often free--programs may provide a more economical,no-nonsense solution. --Eric Twelker ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Average Ripper/Burner, Mediocre Features, Poor Interface
Pros:

Stable (at least with 2.0.1).
Acceptable MP3 Quality at 192 or higher
Audio Editing has some limited uses

Cons:

Poor interface
Lack of library or playlist features

Unless you have a tremendous need to split up your audio files, I'd recommend looking elsewhere because Pyro doesn't really have much else to offer. Pyro is a no-frills CD ripper. The version that I purchased (2.0.1) seems reasonably stable compared to other CD-ripper programs. The MP3 converter quality is acceptable at 192bits (I don't bother with anything lower than that).

The interface is unwieldy, non-intuitive and often aggravating. Suprisingly, it doesn't appear to have any playlist features. This means that once I rip my CDs, I end up adding them to my playlist in MUSICMATCH and listening to them there. The audio edit features have come in handy in a few cases. It's nice to be able to cut out parts of a song, or split it up into multiple tracks. However, the lack of playlist or library features limits the value of the product.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not that great
I don't know if it's just me, but this program takes, what seems like eons, to read a song off a CD and convert it to an MP3. I'm running a P4, genuine Intel 2.0Ghz computer with 768MB of RAM and this program is taking a good 1-2 minutes per song (sometimes longer depending on the length) to fully convert it. I haven't done a lot of ripping in my lifetime, but I can swear that I've used other programs (like MS Mediaplayer) that took nowhere near as long as this one does to read a song and convert it. On top of that, this program demands like 100% of my CPU in the process of doing all this. Anytime I was ripping music, it was next to impossible to do anything else because this program was using all my CPU. In all, I don't like this program very much.

1-0 out of 5 stars Error - Error - Error
Never got it to burn a .wav disk. It ripped, slowly, and did burn a mp3 disk. It told me to contact Pyro and let them know about the error no.

I did this a couple times with no response. I ended up calling and speaking to someone in sales. They told me to e-mail them with all the info and they would make sure it got in the right person's hands. I got a response telling me how to do a "FIX". The step-by-step instructions were not accurate for what I was supposed to see, and after I guessed, I still got the same error no. I called back and they actually agreed to take the program back. I had to send a letter stating that I had deleted the program. I was in the process of doing that and decided to try just one more time. This time it told me I had to contact Pyro for and authorization no. I didn't have to do that at the installation. I still haven't figured out the program knew I was supposed to delete it. I was disappointed, if it worked, it would have been perfect for my needs. I guess now I'll have to try Music Match.

3-0 out of 5 stars Horrible WAV to MP3 Converter!
I purchased this software for two reasons: to let me digitally record old cassette tapes, and to convert those files to MP3 format to save space. The CD Wave Editor is an *excellent* digital recording program, and you can buy it ala carte from Cakewalk's website... I highly recommend it.

The MP3 converter, however, is completely unacceptable. Every MP3 file, regardless of the bitrate, has a very annoying tinny, digital quality to it, and even my old analog recordings, which weren't exactly studio quality to begin with, sound awful after conversion.

My recommendation is to buy the Wave Editor software separately and download any LAME-based WAV-to-MP3 freeware.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst piece of [...junk]I ever wasted $$$ on...
Unbelievable!!! After several e-mails, only a few resposnes, No satisfaction.
It will not let me burn a CD without messing that up...
E-mail them and when they DO respond, they give you a whole buch of things to try, none work and you just waste blank CDs...filling them up with random bits from each music track, usually 10 seconds at most of a song.

Worthless...I have tried several other programs and this is the worst. AVOID!!! ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the better entry level programs
This exceeded my expectations. The two things I like most are easy editing functions and the ability to create high quality menus for DVDs. My only complaint is that there is a limit on the size of the files you can capture, ie. capturing a 4hr extended play home video. The program does capture the footage, gives several error/warning messages and the sound on the footage is lost. I will continue to use to transfer purchased VHS to DVD. Good program/value to get started with.

1-0 out of 5 stars I do NOT recommend this software
Trying to burn imported files to SVCD. Every single one had a spot where the video went bad momentarily then audio and video were out of sync. You cannot burn a file without running thru their encoder first and I could never get a good output file. Their tech support told me to update my VIDEO CARD drivers and windows media PLAYER codecs. Then they told me they wouldn't help me because I didn't meet the minimum sys requirements because I had integrated sound device instead of a separate sound card which has nothing to do with the problem. I asked for a refund and was told that I agreed to their license when I installed the software so I guess I got taken. My advice, by something else.

1-0 out of 5 stars Would be cool if it actually worked
I have never been able to do anything with this program without it locking up. Nothing at all. I have contacted customer service several times and they are no help at all (such useless suggestions as "try reinstalling the program"). My computer exceeds all of the minimum requirements and has had no problems with other burning software. It looks like it has some really nice features, IF they worked. I exchanged the original program at the store and the second one does the exact same thing. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fabulous Editing Software
Wow! I guess I am lucky - no problem installing or using. I use Windows XP and have had to reinstall after a crash with no prob. I use this software to edit songs for my (personal hobby) internet radio station - it is excellent for that! I have also used the software to ID3 tag MP3's that didn't show up correctly on CDDB, and I love the crossfade function for my mixes. I am not an expert on anything technical, and this software has been pretty user friendly for me. I plan to upgrade to version 5 when it comes out.

4-0 out of 5 stars Update to the Above
I finally got some help. Not from Steinberg but from Pinnacle systems. We had to edit a couple of registry entries before the software would work. Now I have to say I am pleased with the product. I was using MusicMatch and I've left it alone to use myMP3 Pro.

1-0 out of 5 stars check the steinberg site before you buy this one
The first problem I experienced with this software was it could not see my cd drive. I went to the Steinberg site (the company who supports this software) and found that there are quite a few problems with this software. I also searched their site for technical support and could not find any. Maybe it is there, but it was hard to find. I wanted to return the software but I bought it here (Amazon).... ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars gold versus platinum?
I used the NTI cd maker gold for some time and all I have to say is that it created more problems than burns. I found especially annoying the "smart choice" option that the software prompts you to everytime you try to burn a media: the program asks you (in practice forces you most of the times) to 'burn' to a temporary file on the HD instead of performing a physical burn if your data are less than the media (CD/DVD) size (ie burn 1Gb data on a DVD ended into 1Gb of HD space and a blank media). I am probably too dumb to avoid this "smart choices" or to tampering around the few setting options to avoid them. So you may end up with a blank media, being also asked to create a label for it(how dumb is that?!?), wasted time and HD space. if this is the NTI "Gold", it didn't convince me to buy the NTI Platinum. I got the roxio easycd/dvd creator and tada, my burned dvd.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nero had me burned
I needed something that would handle SVCD better than Roxio and everyone and their brother directed me to Nero. Nero made me a coaster for every two good burns. So I downloaded six other software trials from the web and ran the month out on each of them. Within two days of using version 6 of NTI CD Maker I had deleted all other burners on my machine and ordered the serial number. Absurdly easy interface, extremely stable operation even on an old machine (P500 with a 8x burner running win98) and an inital software conflict was resolved by the program's installation interface. I have no idea why this isn't famous. Buy it and love it. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Looks easy to use, but it's not
At first glance this software looks easy to use: drag and drop your photos, and viola, you have a slideshow. But the software is not at all user friendly so you end up spending your whole time trying to figure it out. I spent my first 15 minutes just trying to find the browser button so I could upload some photos! Turns out it was a miniscule obscure button about the size of a fingernail sliver. The manual is useless because it tells you to consult the help section, and the help section is a copy of the manual. The "Create CD/DVD" part of the software is even more confusing. You end up resorting to clicking on everything in sight to see what happens, and then you have to wait and wait because the software is so slow. I started wondering if I was having problems with my mouse or computer, but no, it was the software.

If after all this work at least I had ended up with a decent slideshow, I would have given this a 3 star rating. But I wasn't able to get anything usable. There are tons of bugs in the audio, so that when you add backround music you end up erasing photos, eliminating the audio track of the videos, changing the times the photos are displayed, or the whole thing simply crashes.

On top of all of this, the software doesn't do what it advertises and what I bought it specifically to do: create presentations that can be copied onto a CD-Rom and seen on a computer. Turns out that in CD-Rom format you can copy the photos, but not the videos. And the sound tracks also don't copy as backround music but as separate tracks. Or at least that's what I think. I can't be sure because the playback software which automatically copies onto the CD-Rom is so incredibly confusing that I never did figure it out.

I have yet to try to make a copy of my presentation in VCD format for my DVD player. Maybe that will work out better, but I'm not holding my breathe.

I really regret having bought this, especially considering all the other options there are out there. Keep looking and buy some other software for your photo slideshows!

1-0 out of 5 stars Pictures to CD & DVD
I was very dissapointed in this software. You can only aquire pictures from a digital camera or a scanner.I have several folders of pictures on my PC hard drive and I can't down load them into this program. 5 emails to Magix about this problem and so far they asked me to send them some of my pictures to look at "?". In there return emails not one gave me a way to down load from my hard drive. This would be a great program except for this one problem.

1-0 out of 5 stars Terrible product!
I wish I had checked these reviews before I actually bought it. At first, the product seems easy to use. But adding music and aligning it with the photos is the first trouble. I have approximately 100 pictures in the slide show, which should not be too much for a video that I want to play on TV, but the software gets awfully slow. Saving the show resulted in an error message with a couple of hours of work lost.

I thought Magix was a brand name that I can trust. Be careful before you buy it!

1-0 out of 5 stars Every Feature Has A Bug
This program is so full of bugs it's extremely frustating to use. Examples:

In addition to an upgrade, a separate CD burner patch is required to be downloaded to get a list of supported drives, with note that if your drive is not listed and not brand new, you're out of luck.

If you try to use the playback option while recording audio, i.e., dubbing your voice onto the track while watching the video as you record, you get a soundcard conflict. The only way to dub narration is to turn off the playback option so you can't see whats playing as you speak.

There are no options for volume, background music is too loud to hear narration.

In storyboard mode, the cursor sometimes gets out of sync with the preview, so you don't really know what clip you have selected.

Image editing gets mixed up, if you rotate an image, the next time you select it, it may preview rotated or not.

Rotated images used in the DVD menu don't retain the rotation.

The built in file explorer is difficult to navigate. If you open a directory containing MPG's, the explorer tries to scan through the entire file before displaying the file names. Gigabyte size files take forever.

If you listen/preview a music file with media player (external to this program), the program errors and terminates when you return to it, due to some soundcard driver conflict.

When you click around enough to get a music file selected in the file explorer to play/preview in this program, it sometimes goes into this buzzing mode, then inserts the music file into your project.

Sometimes when you select and drag a music file into your program, the built in windows file explorer jumps to the top of itself and imports a different file than what you selected.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor picture quality
After my recent vacation, I was excited to find this program and to share copies of my digital pictures with friends and family who could watch them on their TVs. The program had some nice features and seemed easy to use. Unfortunately, I spent too much time putting my slideshow together without testing the end result first. The pictures I took were high resolution (1200x1600) but the resulting quality when watching the CD on my TV was very poor. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars I was burnt not my cd's
I recently broght the software from target. when i upgraded to xp pro my Roxio no longer worked. not wanting to pay $50 for roxio i decided to go cheaper. I have now wasted more money on CD-R that the program has messed up. I will now have to go and buy a more expencive but much more reliable piece of software. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND DON'T BUY THIS!!! IT SHOULD HAVE -50 STARS!

1-0 out of 5 stars Burnt and Go is more like it
I to got burnt by this lousy software. The program crashes alot. I to feel like I just threw away good money. I wish instead of trying to save some money I would have went with the original software program I wanted, Sure Thing by Microvision.

1-0 out of 5 stars "Boo-Hiss"
Ok...so I am somewhat of a rookie at burning CD's, however this software stinks. I have a brand spankin' new Dell with all the memory that any Grandma would cherish. Of course, my CD-RW drive is not supported by this software and I too rec'd the cold shoulder from customer service. They gave me absolutely no time line on updated drivers and also had the nerve to tell me that I had to go back and check their list periodically to see if my drive had been added. Wow! Now THAT made me feel like I was a priority...I will try to return to Best Buy today, if not I will throw it on the ground and stomp on it until I am breathless.....

1-0 out of 5 stars Another Iomega Dud!
Disappointing software and even more disappointing customer service.
"Burn and Go" would not recognize my CD Burner. I emailed Iomega customer service and they said I should wait until they updated the drivers on their web site, then download them. They could not give me ETA when they would get around to updating my driver. They also could not authorize a refund, but they gave me an 800 phone number. When I phoned Iomega they said they would not authorize a refund because I didn't buy directly from Iomega.
Thank God the retailer where I purchased "Burn and Go" gave me a store credit after I showed them the e-mail and explained the circumstances.
Not the 1st time with problems with products from Iomega. No more Iomega products for me.

2-0 out of 5 stars disappointing
Yeah, I know this is bottom-of-the-barrel stuff, but it's still disappointing. Seems to copy CDs well enough, but oddly, seems to have trouble copying material from my hard drive. I'd advise the humble consumer to spend a few more dollars and look elsewhere. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Of course it's not Toast, but...
it does everything it says it will do. The box I bought never mentioned it would burn or copy movie DVDs (I believe that is still illegal thanks to Hollywood), and clearly states that it would "Burn data DVDs, multi-session data VDs, audio CDs, erase CD-RW & create disc images."

I am happy with this software, and am happier to see a more affordable alternative to Toast...Toast may be a great program, but I never used more than half of its features. Just my opinion...

1-0 out of 5 stars *Claims* to burn DVDs
...says it burns DVDs on the outside of the box. But after you open the box and install the software you find it's only data DVDs.

If you want to burn video DVDs (e.g. for a DVD player), you need UDF. This program doesn't support it, and acts like there's no such thing by not documenting it.

Everything this thing does is already part of OS X (e.g. burn data DVDs, audio CDs, erase CD-RWs & create disc images). If you teach yourself how to use the features of OS X to do the same tasks, then you've saved $30.

Dragon Burn may be worth a try. It's only $15 more, and it isn't a $100 feature-overkilled piece of software like Toast. Plus they have a trial version.

This MacBurn software adds no value, I think. If you still like MacBurn, good for you.

:(

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Toast... not even a cracker...
This product isn't nearly as good as Toast, and barely better than the burning provided by the OS for free.

If you want to do more than what the OS provides, spend the extra $50 for Toast.

Name: MacBurn
Price: $29.99
website: www.macXware.com
phone: 402-554-1400
pros: It is easy to load, the price is right and it actually comes with a very basic instruction book. I had no trouble copying files and music for the Mac.
cons: For non-geeks some of the abbreviations are totally meaningless. I was not able to get a burn on the Mac/PC hybrid that a PC could read.

MacBurn is a cost effective program for burning audio CDs, and data CDs and DVDs. It is easy to load, works great in OS X (10.2.6 but best in 10.3) and straight is forward to use with either selection or drag and drop features. System requirements include a CD or DVD burner compatible with OS X, 700 MB of free HD space for burning about 80 minutes of Audio to CD, and Disk Image (ISO and DMG) creation only for OS X 10.3 and greater.

The program does all that it is advertised to do which is burn data to DVDs, do multi-session data on a CD, burn audio CDs, erase a CD-RW and create disk images. Well, actually I have to take their word for the disk image part since I didn't actually do this part. Loading the program is very straight forward as is the instruction booklet. However when I had
questions as to what an ISO or DMG was I couldn't find an answer. Being a non-geek I'm not familiar with these terms. Naturally I went to the HELP menu to see if I could find a bit more information. It wasn't too much help. There was just a slight bit more information in the HELP menu than what was in the included instruction booklet and it did not define ISO or DMG.

The program operated just fine for copying data on the Mac format and I actually could do multiple sessions on one CD. That is a useful feature. One thing to note here is that the multiple session feature only works on the Mac format. It is not an option for PC or Mac/PC hybrid. Multiple sessions are not recommended for audio CDs either. It can be done but the instructions indicate that some strange things may happen and it is not recommended. I just took their word for that too. It is possible to mix an audio session with a data session on a CD which is another handy feature. For those using rewritable CDs and DVDs the program can erase data so the disk can be reused.

The program will locate the drive that can write the CD/DVD or if there are multiple drives you can make your choice in the box below the menu panel. Then choose either data or audio session. Below that is the format selection box and the title box. There are several choices here. I must say that I was not able to use the Mac/PC hybrid option and produce a CD that could be read on a PC. I could do it with the PC option, just not the hybrid option. The next box contains the files to be copied. They can be dragged and dropped into this area or selected with the "Add File" or "Add Folder" buttons. A nice feature is the bar on the bottom of the pane which tallies how much space will be used on the disk.

When the burn button is activated this box drops down for further instructions. The "Allow Additional Burns" box must be checked in order to do multiple sessions on one CD or DVD. However this feature will only work on a Mac format. Hit "Burn" and the program does it job. Again, it is a good, affordable program that is easy to use. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Neverending story of frustration.
I've bought this product expecting that if I have already encoded file in Mpeg-2 it will be easy to create simple menu for my own home video, according all information I discovered from Pinnacle web site. But, unfortuanately, you cannot create a DVD, which will fit to 4.7 Gb blank. If you try to create a DVD from avi file it may take forever (couple of hours) just to create a DVD files. Final quality is really bad, you will have 700 Mb or ever more of free space left on your blank disc, but the "Expression" will show you that there's no space left.

One time it created a DVD with for me where the total size of all files was about 1 Gb, but program showed that there was no space left!

The program is really unstable, as all other Pinnacle products.

I have Pinnacle Studio 8 also with the same set of problems:
- poor video quality
- wrong calculation of free space on DVD
- unexpectable slow performance.

If you want DVD authoring software Expression is not the right choice. And I will give you the same advice if you decide to buy Pinnacle Studio. I do not expect from them any improvement in version 9. The most recent reviews just awful.

P.S. If you think that my system is slow, here is draft spec:
p4-2.4 GHz, 1Gb RAM, 7200rpm 120 Gb Hard drive... Yeah, really slow system for Pinnacle.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Thrilled
I had been using Dazzle DVD Complete which provided fairly regular upgrades, and checked their site for an update only to find a Pinnacle webpage offering a $40 upgrade from DVD Complete to Expression. Apparently they have taken Dazzle over and won't be supporting the product. So I ordered it ... me=idiot. Didnt do enough research and found that its the equivalent of "My First DVD Software" There is no way to create a professional looking DVD -which is what I use it for. Its basically for newbies who want to throw old videos of their kids on a DVD and send it to the folks.

That, I admit is my own fault for not further researching, but I am a software junkie and was impulsive. BUT, as far as Pinnacle's marketing it as an upgrade? UPGRADE???? Would you consider going from Photoshop 7.0 to Microsoft Draw an upgrade? Pinnacle obviously would.

1-0 out of 5 stars Very bad experience using it
I usually do not write comments but this time I feel I have to write something about it, because I am really disappointed the Pinnacle Expression. I used it to create a DVD-R using existing well-coded Mpeg2 files, but it is very very slow, regardless in Pentium IV 1.8GHz or Pentium III 600 MHz, two of my PC's. One thing really puzzled me was, in either PC, the CPU usuage was only about 25-30 percent. And the program IS running, not non-responding. No huge I/O activity. No DVD buring activity either. Then why isn't it running faster, to use 100% CPU??? It took one hour, only incrementing from 50% to 52% complete in preparing the DVD contents, not even the burning yet-- a separate process. And then it always errored out at about 70%, "Error to Complie File", something like it. Stupid. I am an IT professional myself. I keep my PC environment simple. There're enough memory and hard disk space in my PC's. There's no registry mess up. If there's anything wrong, it must be the program (I already downlaoded the lastest update from Pinnaclesys.com). I am very disappoined. It is such a straightforward and simple program yet they don't know how to code it well. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Making The Hit
For the money, lots of value. I was surprised how versatile the software was. It's also pretty interesting to hear from Lou Pearlman and see a real recording studio. I am really pleased with the content and highly recommend it to anyone that would like to have control while making a demo cd or just having fun. And you can't forget about the vocal lessons too! Those were fun to try. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars FAR OUTPACES SIMILAR SOFTWARE
Have been looking for a product that is easy but powerful to work with multiple video files, do the edits, insert transition and effects, and implement near pinpoint timing of audio elements. This product does it all as represented and if I didn't stumble upon it at an incredibly low price, I wouldn't have investigated it at all. For those yearning for its limitations, the only suggestion would have been for the manufacturer to provide a video of putting together a sample edited video. Otherwise, one has to click on the icons to learn the parameters of offered features, but again the time involved to pursue it is small compared to the power and ease of the product. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars WORTHLESS
I bought this with the intention of ripping my DVD's to Divx. It doesn't work. If you want to rip commercial dvd's, you have to get DVD Decrypter or something of the sort and use this in conjunction with it. However, IT IS NOT WORTH IT. The sound grows out of sync, and I'm talking about 2-3 seconds off. THIS IS A WASTE OF FIFTY BUCKS AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

1-0 out of 5 stars Nice Promise... Too Bad It Doesn't Work At All
I have been playing around with my new DVD burner (as probably a lot of people have been) and have created a number of DVD's from home movies. I bought this product because it claimed you could just pull off the chapters you wanted from a given DVD. I thought it would be a nice way to create some "greatest hits" DVD's for the grandparents instead of re-creating and recoding the raw AVI files.
The product installed fine. I grabbed a DVD off my shelf and it said that it was copyrighted, so I couldn't do anything with it. Well, that was fine. That wasn't why I bought it. Then, I put in one of my homemade DVD's. The product continually crashed whenever any homemade DVD was in the drive. Now, my six year old DVD player doesn't have any issues with the DVD+R's I've burned. Every time I pop one into my DVD drive on my PC, the DVD player software kicks in. And I'm pretty sure I didn't put Macrovision on our Christmas footage. So what gives?
The product came with a short booklet (I loved the quick paragraph on how to defeat the copy protection part of the software) and I did read it and look at the website quickly. That's not to say I didn't read everything that has to do with the product I bought, there just wasn't much to read and no patches, no potential fixes, etc.
So, I have a $50 program that doesn't work on copy protected material, but doesn't work on non-copy protected material either. Kind of defeats the purpose of owning it.

1-0 out of 5 stars ... I want my money BACK !
I was intrested in this program for the Divx copy features. The more I read about it, the better it kept sounding. I download the trail version and it worked ok. DvD copy was on sale at the local software store so I bought it. After installing it, it did not work and froze my system up.

1. If no DVD is in, the program will start up and after putting a DVD in it will freeze my system except for the mouse.

2. If a DVD is in on the startup, program will freeze.

I went to the website for patches and there was none. There are 4 other programs on the web site that they say the software needs to run. It is beyond me how a trail piece of software will work and the full version will not.

I would have taken this back, because I never had software behave so badly before, but like a idiot I wrote the serial # on the cd with a marker.

My advice is make sure you shop around other companys software and try a trail version first. Although this did me no good. And make sure you like the interface before you buy.

To be fair, I have not called (Toll call) the support line or emailed support about this problem. So I cant comment on the companys responce on fixing it.

4-0 out of 5 stars Easy to make copies of movies
This software makes it easy to make copies of DVD movies. It can convert and copy a DVD-9 disc onto a single DVD+/-R disc with just two or three clicks. The only drawback is that you have to use a ripper/descrytor to get rid of the copy protected encrytion and put the image onto the disk first. The ripper/descrytor that I used is "DVD Descrytor" which is a freeware. The picutre quality is great. ... Read more
