1-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work, No customer service
I primarily got this software in order to burn CDs. The only problem is that it does not recognize my CD-R/RW. I went to their websight for help, and all there was was a place to send an e-mail. Well I sent an e-mail telling Macmillian what was wrong. I didn't hear back from them so I called their tech support line, I waited on hold for TWO HOURS, and still never got through to a person. I finaly got a reply for my e-mail today, a week after I sent it, and they told me I needed to download an update. I downloaded it, but when I try to run it it says I dont have the software on my system and shuts down. This has just been one head-ache after another.

1-0 out of 5 stars Digital CD Recording Studio Professional Edition
This product caused nothing but problems for me and my system from the time I unpacked it from the box. After trying to install it and hours on technical support, I had to completely format my hard drive and re-install windows to get my system up and running again. After asking for a refund from the manufacturer, I sent the software back to them..... that was 4 weeks ago, still no refund.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a great product
This is a great product. It has every thing you need to digitaly record CD's. It is great for making your own custom CD's. This product is also easy to install, and you can begin to record instanly. "Thank you for letting me voice my opinion on this great product" ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars NOT EXACTLY A PRO
I was VERY dissapointed with this product. Every CD I tried to burn had a coaster or failed withought a warning on my computer. I have used other bad products before, so I bought this one hoping it would be better than the others.. but I was heavily dissapointed. Never judge a book by it's cover.. or in this case, never judge a BURNER by it's name. I have done the burning process many times before this, and I was shocked at how easy it was at first, but then during the copying of my files and other complications of CD's, I was shocked by how my computers responded to the product. I think that you should spend your money on something worth the dough... and not something that could be better.

1-0 out of 5 stars Keep looking for something better!
After trying this software, I am left frustrated and maddened. I've had a 20% success rate with writing to CDs. This program frequently terminates with error windows. Often it just locks up the computer with no warning. My pile of wasted CD-Rs has grown to the point that I have practically given up this part of the hobby. Good luck with whatever OTHER CD writer software you buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars Phil J
Beleive all the good things written about this product! I had several problems with the bundled software that came with my HP CD Writer (8220E with "My CD" and "Direct CD" software). I have a Compaq laptop with a 475mhz AMD processor, not exactly the greatest, but more than sufficient for my needs. The bundled software had a 50/50 chance of making a usable CD, errors regarding 'defective CD' kept popping up in the middle of the burn destroying the disc. Tried receiving support through HP and like everyone else says, no help at all. I even borrowed a friends Adaptec CD Creator and was disappointed with the software-just too much ... and I still made coasters!! Finally read all the good things about "Click and Burn Pro" and decided to buy it. AWESOME, have not made a coaster yet in the 2 weeks I've used it to burn copies of CD's, mixed CD's, and data CD's. The interface is very easy to use and the software configures your write speed for best results (you could also set everything manually to customize your way). You will not be disappointed with this product. The only downside is that if you let the sofware configure your write speed it bumps it down causing longer burns, but like I said NO COASTERS!!! Also comes with a stomper and CD labeler software that's just as easy to use.

4-0 out of 5 stars All the important stuff, none of the hassle
Was a satisfied user of Adaptec's Easy CD Creator 3.5b, wanted .mp3 support. Came that close to buying ECDC Deluxe 4.0 during a rare price drop to $50 with rebate, but got spooked by lots of scary reviews on this site detailing major system attacks and low product support from Adaptec/Roxio. Also had previously purchased Adaptec's Soundstream and was dissatisfied with low functionality. Got CnB Pro 1.5 for the same 50 bones (er...from Outpost.com) based on favorable reviews on this site. Installed in 2secs with no trouble (WinMe on AMD K6-2, HP 8210e CDRW), ran the tests on my drives (very informative), set up a Audio CD job using multiple sources (.mp3, .wav, multiple Audio CDs). Very straightforward, no quirks. Documentation (manual) is comprehensive and detailed; good plaintalk explanation of CD-R lingo. Simple startup menu for novices and quick simple job setup; plenty of advanced functionality in the full application, but only if you want it. Comes with complete version of CD Stomper label making software (with label applicator and blank labels), which I haven't used yet. Checked out the website - very useable, downloaded a $10 rebate (nice surprised!) and a current update to CnB Pro 1.5 (24Jan01, someone must still be there). Doesn't have CDDB audio CD recognition interface, a negative but not a dealbuster. Extracts audio from CDs, but only to .wav - no .mp3 compression. Wouldn't run the recorder self-test on my CDRW, maybe because it's USB. Bottom line: All the functionality you need to burn and label any kind of CD without all the extra frills and - more importantly - all the hassles.

5-0 out of 5 stars Dynamite!
This has to be the easiest and best featured MP3 program I have tried. After trying the Data Becker MP3 "Trash Your Computer" Wizard, I was very hesitant to try anything else. But I did try several. Some programs were ok, but none compared to this one. Ease of use, excellent features and affordability makes this a great buy for me. I highly recommend Click'n Burn for novices and more experienced users alike. Way to go Stomp! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Nowadays we can buy and download our music off the Net and play it instantly on our computers, completely bypassing the CD. However, almost every computer in the world has a CD-ROM drive that can also play audio CDs, and many new computers are shipping with CD-RW burners. Plus, blank CDs are under a dollar each. So, if you want to take your downloaded music to go, you can simply convert it from the downloaded MP3 file to an AIFF or WAV file, and burn that to an audio CD-format disc.

Toast has been around for years and is the benchmark application for CD burning. It works with just about every CD-R and CD-RW burner from every manufacturer, including the new USB models, and it burns almost every format: audio CDs, Macintosh data CDs, PC data CDs, enhanced music and data CDs, hybrid CDs, video CDs, etc. Many users will use Toast 4 for archiving data, as an inexpensive means of delivering content to clients, or for burning short-run or prototype multimedia CD-ROMs. But a growing market for Toast is the music crowd, especially with the explosion of MP3 music on the Web. Adaptec's Toast 4 Deluxe is CD creation and burning software for a new generation, but not without some features for the legacy crowd that worships vinyl.

Version 4 now makes it easier than ever to burn music CDs by importing (without conversion) MP3 files directly and converting them on the fly as it writes them to a CD. Now you can mix and match your favorite tunes and burn your own "best of" audio mix. Toast also includes features for extracting music tracks from commercially available audio CDs, allowing you to duplicate (for your own purposes) any CD that you own, or mix and match tracks from your favorite CDs.

As if that weren't enough, Version 4 includes the necessary cabling (a stereo connector with a pair of RCA plugs on one end and a ministereo jack on the other) for connecting the microphone jack on your computer to the output jacks on your stereo, and the software to facilitate converting from an analog source like vinyl LPs directly to audio CDs. The software, called Spin Doctor, has features for controlling input levels, balancing, cleaning up the audio by using certain filters, and viewing the waveform of the audio for keeping an eye on levels. For anyone who needs to create any type of CD, Toast rocks. --Mike Caputo ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the easy way
This is the way it ought to be. Drag your audio file on Toast and you're burning an audio CD. The only improvement that could possibly be made would be the addition of crossfading ability. Otherwise, it'll practically do anything you want with simple drag & drop! Since it easily copies mp3 and complete compact discs, you now have the unbridled option of ripping off all the musicians you love so much. Computer nerds will also love the fact that it will burn data CDs, copy your hard drive, even create hybrid CD! You'll also be able to copy your favorite video games and programs on them, giving you the unbridled option of ripping off the software makers you love so much. Other than giving you the option to be a criminal, this software is absolutely the best.

5-0 out of 5 stars Read the manual!
Not only will this software do much morethan I need, it does it so simply that it defies logic! The one time I had difficulty (setting up the software to run my burner) I called Adaptec - yes, I waited on hold for a while, but they were gracious and assisted me in looking up the fix for my problem in the manual! Anyone who needs to call should read first! As for the website, well, I found it easy to navigate and find what I was looking for. I simply cannot believe that people cannot figure this program out the first time through - all they need is a bit of patience and twenty minutes to read the manual before setting up! I am Adaptec for life!

4-0 out of 5 stars Does the Job
Toast does a great job burning just about any kind of sound file you could want onto CDs. After mastering the program, it is a no brainer and very straightforward. Buy CD-Rs in bulk -- packs of ten will not be enough once you start burning fever! The excellent manual is delivered in pdf format which I found difficult to manage when learning the program, so I had to print big chunks out.

However, as another reviewer mentioned, Adaptec has TERRIBLE customer support, a worse web page, and they intentionally make it difficult (or impossible) to contact them.

So, be aware that this is a very fine progam and I think the only thing like it currently on the market. But if you need any help, call your mother.

5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST FOR MAC CD BURNERS
This is by far the best cd burning program I have used. It takes care of everything Mp3, Disc copy, and is very easy to use. You can even hook up turntables & tape deck and convert that to CD format. And the cable to do it with is included. If you have a burner and dont have Toast 4 Deluxe, BUY IT!

1-0 out of 5 stars No Customer Support
Toast is a good program for burning CDs, but if you can't do it all yourself, watch out. The Adaptec customer service is terrible. Not only do they not have a toll free number, but I've been on hold over an hour and had no response. If you're a computer genius, enjoy. But if you'll have questions, it looks like you're on your own. ... Read more

The price was just right and you get what you pay for. I purchased surething cd labeler Se edition because the website and the box said that I would be able to print the song titles on music cds AUTOMATICALLY and would be able to read and display filenames from data cd w/o ever having to type. This is exactly what I wanted, so I purchased it. It does not do this! There is no playlist manager. No documentation was included in the box. Had to go to the help files. Unfortunately, the instructions in the help file pointed you to things that were NOT available within the software. I am really disappointed and now have software taking up space. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Data Becker's MP3 Wizard 2.0 provides a useful entry-level package for retrieving and managing music files for your MP3 player and CD burner. While it will take a little practice to learn all of the features here, this package gets the job done with a competent set of features for building a library of MP3 music effectively.

To get started with MP3, this program makes it easy to search for music on the Internet with hooks for popular MP3 search engines (such as Lycos). Once you find the right files, the MP3 Wizard opens up your browser to let you download music files to your disk drive. Besides the MP3 standard, the program reads CDA files from audio CDs and converts them into WAV files. (One thing to be aware of here is that recording quality can't be controlled within the MP3 Wizard itself. You'll need to change this under Windows settings.)

After you have your WAV files, you can add sound effects such as reverb, echo, and flange, as well as "normalize" all your files to the same dynamic range so that you don't have to adjust the volume between tracks. Of course, you'll want plenty of free disk space, memory, and a fast CPU to use this program. (A 233 MHz CPU is the minimum recommended here; the faster, the better.)

One reason to buy MP3 Wizard in particular is its support for downloading music files onto today's popular MP3 players (such as Diamond Rio). The program also supports burning custom CDs with just a click of the mouse. (Both 60- and 80-minute CD formats are supported.) Overall, for those who don't mind experimenting a little, the MP3 Wizard is a capable lower-end tool for building a personal Internet music collection. --Rich Dragan ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Basic software with a Major problem
I had used the earlier version of Mp3 Wizard which was riddled with problems (some were corrected with patches). However, 2.0 claimed to be such an upgrade from the last with the bugs all worked out. I am having the same problem as another customer, that is it will not let me fill up an 80 minute CD (as was advertised)and will continually give me error messages when I attempt to burn more than 16 or 17 songs. I have contacted the Mp3 Wizard tech support about this a few times and they have not yet offered any solutions to this problem nor have been the best at customer service. I am dissapointed in this product, especially since it was supposed to be a great improvement over the earlier version, which it is not!

2-0 out of 5 stars This program is really not worth the money.
This is a very clunky, very limited piece of software. It converts files to mp3's from pretty much any other format. But that's it. You can't edit your sound files. You can't turn mp3's into other file formats (except .wav - but you can get freeware programs that do that). The CD writing options are limited. The only good point is that the interface is spiffy-looking.

But the thing that makes me mad enough to get online and write a review is this: it won't let me completely fill my CDs. I can only use, say, 70 minutes out of an 80-minute CD or it will give me an error message. Or it will only allow me to write maybe 18 files to the disk, even if I have space left. I am very disappointed in this program and am kicking myself for buying it.

Amazon.com Review

Aimed at the music enthusiast who needs a one-stop MP3 solution, Magix'sMP3 Maker provides a full set of features for creating and listening to MP3files, as well as for burning custom CDs that contain them. MP3 Maker rips toWAV and encodes effectively to MP3, MP2, and WMA. Its standard encoder producesgood-sounding audio, but encodes slowly, managing little better than real time.MP3 Maker also includes a 20-file trial version of QDesign's MP3 encoder, whichproduces higher-quality audio, and encodes more quickly. Serious users will wantto upgrade to the full QDesign encoder. A wizard registers you with CDDB, theCD-information database, so that MP3 Maker can tag MP3 files automatically. Youalso can edit tags manually.

Twin players with cross-fade capability provide good flexibility. Each playerhas a pitch control, and, with the 10-band graphic equalizer, you can adjust thesound of the music to suit your listening arrangements. The equalizer includesbuilt-in presets, but you can't save your own equalizations. Moredisappointingly, you can't play music while ripping and encoding.

A welcome bonus is the Music Editor application, which lets you edit musicfiles. For example, you can reduce noise from a WAV file that was recorded fromvinyl before you encode it to MP3 or normalize tracks to ensure a consistentvolume range. MP3 Maker's CD-burning features are minimalist, but they'reeffective enough with supported CD-R/CD-RW drives. Detracting from MP3 Maker'sfeatures is a complex and counterintuitive interface that's designed to dazzle.Users who are comfortable with misused controls and the occasional word inGerman need have no fear, but others might want to look to other MP3-creationproducts, such as MusicMatch Jukebox 5.0 Deluxe. --Guy Hart-Davis ... 1-0 out of 5 stars What a waste of my money and time!
I could not believe the nerve of this company to market this piece of ripoff as ligimate software. After the real estate hogging installation, I was presented with a very impressive but confusing interface that attempted to be trendy and hi-tec. Instead of the friendly and comforting Windows interface (hey, at least give us the three familiar three little buttons on the upper right hand corner to minimize and close!?) I have to 'discover' the close button at the lower right hand corner of this blue-on-blue interface.

What finally got me to uninstall the program faster than trying to get rid of the plague was the fact that no where did it mention that I could only rip TWENTY songs before I have to shell out another $19 bucks for what they called an upgrade!!! Yea, UPGRADE. I call that as a very underhanded, very sly and unethical way of getting more of our hard-earned money just so we could use the software. No thank you! No where on the outside of the box mentioned the 20 song encoding limit... in fact, in it's description, it mentioned the word UNLIMITED conversion of music!

It wouldn't even earn the honor of being shelved with the rest of my software library. The circular file it went.

There are a lot more shareware and freeware out there that would do a very decent job without trying to pull a fast one on us. Look elsewhere and pass this one by! Don't even bother with their diamond, gold and platinum or whatever editions if that is their business ethic.

1-0 out of 5 stars Complete waste of money
I installed this program and it just sat there on my screen like a Windows .BMP file. Clicking on any of the controls did nothing, and it locked up my PC! I deleted the program and reinstalled it again. Same result. I contacted the manufacturer, but they were no help at all (left message, sent email, no response). I finally returned the software to Office Depot where I bought it. They gave me a hard time, because the shrinkwrap was gone, but after they tried installing it themselves, they agreed that the CD was best suited for a coaster and refunded my money. Would have rated it zero stars if Amazon let me.

5-0 out of 5 stars I can't believe my eyes (ears..)
When I first use this software, I thought it was just another MP3 encoder with a pretty skin. Then the next day I found out that I can burn a CD directly from this program. A friend of mine tried out this program as well and he told me that this program includes a professional audio editing feature that normally would cost a lot of money. I personally don't mess around with audio editing but I may one day convert and digitize all my old tapes (which I proudly owned)to MP3 files.

Also I must say that Magix's service is pretty good. I have no problem speaking with a support staff and questions were patiently answered. I asked them about the cross file conversion function and it was explained to me in simple term. I found out that Magix has a dozen other products mostly music and streaming media related. It is good to know that you can later upgrade to something else. Overall, it is well worth the $29 I spent.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good stuff for the moeny
I actually liked the MP3 Maker because it does a lot for the money. Ya get 2 encoder (one is limited to 20 encodings wot sux) but there is still another encoder for free. Ya can rip CD's and burn them direct to CD. Comes wif 2 players to mix MP3's. Bad part: needed patch to actually translate the program into english. Good part: Lot's of features for the money

1-0 out of 5 stars Magix MP3 Player
Is there a "zero star" rating? Clearly not worth the money. MP3 Maker comes with two compression algorithms. One compresses into mp3 format faster than the other. The catch is you have to pay Magix an extra $9.95usd to be able to use it. Aside from the fact that this application is a resource hog, getting assistance from Magix with any problems is less likely than winning the PowerBall lottery. After many ill-fated attempts to correct flaky problems I have found some freeware/shareware packages that work great. Magix support is non-existent. One can spend the money on a toll-call to leave a message or send an e-mail. Either way, you will never get an answered back from Magix. Bottom line, don't waste your money on this product. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!
What an incredible value!

I was looking for easy to use products (I figured I would have to buy two products!) that would let me edit my videos and photos -- finding one package that lets me edit my videos and photos, plus rip music, burn photo and video CDs, and create CD labels is outstanding!

I hadn't even considered how quickly my photos and videos would fill up my hard drive -- being able to burn them to CD is a great way to archive and save hard drive space!

I'm also having a great time ripping and organizing my music, then creating music CDs -- something I hadn't even considered before!

All in all, this product gave me all the features I was looking for, plus much, much more!

5-0 out of 5 stars this is the best i say ...
Ok well first i wasnt to sure about this program then when i figured out how to use it it was th best. Well anyways i hope you buy this product exspecially for converting wma to mp3 or just make your files smaller. It also works good for picture editing and all that other stuff. I like this product but some people dont oh well thanks for reading and ttyl.

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy this product
I bought this because it was inexpensive and I don't need much for my purposes of video editing. this product, however, is horrible. It can't even meet my basis needs. I get eror messages constantly and it crashes every time I use it. This is no exageration. I have never actually exited out of the program because it always crashes on it's own. It doesn't work well with XP (which is never really mentioned anywhere). The help (both in the help menu and online) is not very helpful. No user manual was included. It was just a very bad product. Check out their online help site and you will see an abundance of negative feedback (I didn't see this until after I purchased the product and was going there to get help). I could go on for even longer about it but I won't. I don't know what else is out there, but there has to be something better than this. Even if it costs a little more it would be worth it!!

This product stinks! I bought it to cut the weeds in my front yard...but all it does is chop carrots and some meat products. The sulution to my problem was to buy the $2,500 PhotoShop editor, it worked much better.

Really this is a GREAT product. And its well worth the [money] i spent on it.

1-0 out of 5 stars What A Waste
I bought this mostly because of the video editing section of the product... I got all excited and when i installed it, I realized there is no way to hook up my video camera to the computer. The product claims to be able to put your old home made movies on to a CD. Unless u have a video camera that has a USB port(mine doesnt), or you go out and buy one of those expensive A/V ports for ur computer, youve wasted your money. The music editing portion doesnt work with my computer because i have Internet explorer ver. 6 and i have to un-install it and download another version. I intend on taking this "video editor" back. ... Read more

ver 7.0
No, this will not copy copyrighted DVDs.Pinnacle is well knowen for their infearior software. After reasearching this software, it seems to be a rework of a German developers software (I think its called Vob copy)Pinnacle was cheaper than the german ware, so I bought Pinnacle to own a disk and not download of the net. This is very buggy and hit and miss.It does not reconize my external Sony DVD burner half the time. And must reboot the computer a few times. This will happen after succesfull burning a DVD, I will have to reboot.I download the latest list of DVD burners and this did not help the problem.
Next I download the newest and greatest version 8.Now I am not having a hit or miss problem,It is just miss.Does not work at all.
One thing everyone can count on is Pinnacle dependablity.
They have releast another undependable buggy product.
What makes me mad is, I knew better than to buy it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
Buy it, period, Great product . use it with DVD Decrpter (Free)

5-0 out of 5 stars You must know how to use this program!!!
This software is excellent. But first, you must use dvd decrypter (a free software) so you can copy your dvd to the hard drive first (even the copyrighted for backup purposes, remember that it's illegal to sell copies of copy right material). When using DVD Decrypter, choose to decrypt all files. Then use instant copy to burn the DVD, be sure to use the "customized resize" in the Copy Method of the DVD Menu, so you can take off the extra features (like subtitles, or second audio tracks...) to improve the video quality. You can actually copy all the DVD but because you're copying from a 9.4gb dvd to a 4.7gb, the image loses resolution (shrinkage process), so it's up to you, if you want all the extras or sacrifice them for a better picture. You can see the percentage of the imgae that will be kept! DVD X Copy splits the movie into 2 DVDs!
It has never crashed, and it takes like 40 minutes to burn a DVD!

1-0 out of 5 stars Not good for DVD copy
There are lot of free programs that does 100% better than this.

1-0 out of 5 stars Instant Copy Anything
I buy this software expecting that solve a basic need, Copy DVD and CD, only for my personal use (backup), when I see it, thinks, look good... But.... Oh deception, this software don't copy anything!!!!!!, any DVD, any CD, any with a copyright, on resume, anything... Is better never buy it...

If the 99.9% of the comercial software that comes on CD or DVD have copyright, means that this software can copy only the 0.1% of the existing software.... And for that any software to copy cd's can do it.

Dont take the risk, is better never buy it!. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Roxio Ruins Another Good Program
Had I read the fine print on the box and realized Roxio owned Cequadrat, I would have never bought WinOnCD. After seeing how Roxio butchered EZ CD, I feared the same for WinOnCD. The program will not recognize both of my burners, and two web-site email support requests over the last 10 days have gone unanswered. Not even an acknowledgement of the support request! How hard it is to have the web site send at least a canned email reply acknowledging the request? Support is non-existent.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Burning Software
Burning CDs was easy with its via drag & drop feature which is what I mainly use this program for and its audio editing tools are fantastic! Editing tools include removal of scratches, clicks and background noise. In WinOnCD 5.0 superior Algorithmx technology is used for noise cleaning and its MP3 music album feature allowed me to playback several hours of music. If your looking to get great burning CDs, this is the program to get.

5-0 out of 5 stars Two Thumbs Up
This product sets the standard in CD burning software!Burning CDs was easy with its via drag & drop feature which is what I mainly use this program for and its audio editing tools are fantastic! Editing tools include removal of scratches, clicks and background noise. In WinOnCD 5.0 superior Algorithmx technology is used for noise cleaning and its MP3 music album feature allowed me to playback several hours of music. The nice thing about this program is that WAV, CDA, WMA, and MP3 files can be mixed and the program will automatically take care of the necessary conversion. Also included is a 10-band graphic equalizer and hall effect, track splitting, fade in and fade out, cross fade, effects, live and still analysis. WinOnCD also stores the artist and title information of any inserted disc. Although most software applications claim that there Windows XP compatible this one actually is, I upgraded to Windows XP awhile back and I have had no problems with the compatibility of the two programs. Organizing and editing track names and properties are easy and simple to do. If you're a serious user or just getting started with burning CDs, you won't get anything but good quality CDs.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great product

Not for simpletons, but comprehensive, with tons of features for audio and video recording, and stable, too. I am really impressed, kick all those other stuff from your PC. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great, and very fast
This program is surprisingly good and better yet very fast. Since I owned the first cd burner in one of my first computers I have used Roxio Easy Cd Creator, which I liked, but showed a lot of inconsistancy. Then I upgraded the last computer I had with a CD-RW which was bundled with Nero 5.5 I never liked it, maybe if you are a very advanced music mixer it'll wor for you. Then I got a magazine with some demos that included Nero 6. It didn't work as wonderful as pc experts sustain. The point is I tried my share of cd/dvd creation software. I had Sonic installed in my new computer and decided to give it a try. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR SOMETHING EASY TO USE, THAT WON'T CONFUSE YOU WITH A LOT OF OPTIONS and that is RELIABLE, LOOK NO FURTHER. Record Now! is your solution. While I had the Nero demo installed I burned 605 MB and took me almost 8 minutes, 7:57 to be exact. Then I burned 643 and 625 MB with Record Now and took me seconds over 5 minutes and seconds under 5 minutes respectively. I was really impresed. I can create appendable CD-R and I can keep on adding information. To sum it up. This is simple, easy to use and best of all very reliable.

1-0 out of 5 stars Sorry I Bought It
I am using Win XP Pro and RecordNow Deluxe 6.5 with record engine update 1.6.14.507. Previously, I was using the Veritas version of RecordNow that came with my Sony CD & DVD burner. Sonic's RecordNow does not see any files previously recorded with the Veritas version. I could live with that, but what is not satisfactory is that if I record on a CD or CDRW using Windows, RecordNow does not recognize the CD or CDRW as recordable medium. Conversely, if I record on a CD or CDRW with RecordNow, Windows can no longer record on the CD or CDRW. I am not using DLA, nor was I in the past.

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty good program
This is a good program for DVD creation, CD burning and minimal data backup. Easy to learn, and appears to have just the typical number of occassional recording errors you run into from time to time, but nothing major. Works fine in Windows XP.

A couple of important notes to save yourself headaches later on:

1. When considering a software package to burn CDs and DVDs, you *must* go to the software publisher's website and verify that your CD or DVD burner is compatible with the software you are considering. Example: for this software, go to www.sonic.com, click on "support" and follow the links to get to "supported hardware". If you're burner isn't listed as supported, it might be a good idea to buy software that lists your burner as a supported device. In my evaluation of different software, every publisher had a current list of supported devices available.

2. Record Now (and most CD/DVD creation software) does *not* create a true backup of your computer. You can of course copy as many files and folders as you want on to the space available on a CD or DVD, which is fine for many people. However, a lot of people (including me) want the capability to create a complete image of my computer's entire drive as well as all of my system settings, so that if the drive fails I can just restore the entire computer in one step and not have to spend a hundred hours reinstalling and reconfiguring everything. To create a true drive image, you need specific backup software that says it can take a full image of your disk, like Norton Ghost. The software should specifically be able to "span" the backup across several disks (i.e. my harddrive has about 25 GB, so it required 5 DVDs to fully image).

4-0 out of 5 stars So far, so good...
Since switching to Windows XP, I have tried myriad different CD burning software programs, only to create large piles of coasters. Sonic RecordNow is the first I have used that works well consistently. Overall, the program is very user friendly, and includes both volume normalization and background noise reduction features. The CD label creation portion of the software is relatively basic, but I am just glad to be able to consistently make quality CD copies and compilations for the first time in a long while! ...
