5-0 out of 5 stars Perfect for all types of eating plans!
This is the best of all the program I've tried for my Palm. It keeps track of water intake, has a fully customizable food database, and calculates your energy output through daily life and exercise. I've lost over 40 lbs in the last 4 months.

I'm on Atkins, and this is perfect for helping me keep track of what I need. Others on WW, wanting to maintain a certain food balance, or trying to eat according to the U.S. gov't recommendations will find this just as helpful.

I love that it tracks the water intake as well. I try to drink a gallon of water a day, and I don't have to rely on my memory to keep on track.

I've had no problems with it, and highly recommend this product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Losing Weight
This is a great weight loss program. It lets me track my food intake and has a hugh data base of foods. With the Windows desk top program I can really see what's going on. The program is easy to use and the best part is that it's with me always in my Palm IIIc with me.

4-0 out of 5 stars Lost 10 lbs already. It works!
This program was recommended by my brother who is a physician. I started using it on my Sony PDA. It is pretty neat. It has a decent food database. It basically helps you track input vs output of calories. You set up a goal to run a calorie deficit to lose so many pounds over so much time. It makes you much more aware of what you are eating and how many calories goes along with it. I downloaded the food database as a supplement to add foods. What i like best is that when you exercise it helps you calculate the calories you consumed, so you get to eat more that day! ... Read more

Anyone who has an interest in his or her golf game besides, "Did I hitit straight this time?" will find some use in Golfwits Pro. This useful littleprogram aims to help you document every drive, chip, pitch, and puttso that you can improve your game. We don't think that's toolofty a goal.

You can use Golfwits solely on your desktop PC, and you can also sync it up withyour Pocket PC (Windows CE) handheld device so you can take Golfwits with youwhile you're on the course. It also comes with a free Palm Organizer versionthat you can download from the Golfwits Web site. We chose to do the install forPalm Organizers and sync Golfwits up with our Handspring Visor Deluxe. There arenotes about this all over the Golfwits Web site, but just in case you miss them,be sure to do a HotSync with your handheld twice, so that it picks up both theprogram and the maps.

Which leads us to the maps. They are really the strength of the Golfwitsprogram. From the Golfwits Web site, you can access thousands of course maps allover the country (as well as a few other countries including Canada). A quicksearch for courses in the Seattle area turned up nearly every course we werefamiliar with--only one of our favorites was missing. However, the Golfwitsfolks seem open to suggestions, so if you request a map of your favorite course, they will most likely produce it.

Mastering Golfwits--especially on your handheld--will take some time. We had tosit down with it for a while before we got the hang of how to access statisticsand record our ball position and ball path on the course, so we advise that youwork with it and the online manual a bit before you hit the fairways. (Not tomention, it took us a while to figure out how to make the maps we downloadedsync up with our Visor--again, read the manual carefully.) But when on thecourse, once you're done recording ball position and club used, Golfwitscalculates everything else for you: remaining distance to the hole, score, andoverall game statistics.

You can also input data into Golfwits on your desktop, but this seems like asecondary function. The biggest benefit of the desktop version seems to bechecking statistics once you've completed a round on the course, and using thatinformation to improve your game. But if you're using Golfwits without a PDA,you can print out a Pro Book of your selected course from the Golfwitsinterface, take this scorecard with you, and then come back and input the gamemanually into Golfwits. Another function that's pretty impressive is the optionto e-mail your game to friends--though we only recommend this function if youactually played well.

You'd be pretty hard pressed to find a utility that goes as in depth into yourgame as Golfwits. In fact, we can't think of any program that does quite whatGolfwits does, making it an obvious choice for anyone who cares this deeplyabout the game of golf. --Ara Jane Olufson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars How it works
Golfwits is an all around fantastic golf score and statistic tracking system. It's got one of the best PDA interfaces I've seen - a very intelligent use of such a small space. They coin (or at least used to coin) it MIMO: Minimal Input, Maximum Output. I think it's an accurate description because you get tons of stats back from just a few simple touches on the screen.

You start with a scaled-down graphical image of each hole for the golf course (more on this later). To start a round you enter some minimal player info: name, tee, 150 yard club (for default club suggestions), HCP, and whether you want Golfwits to track clubs. You can enter just the name and the tee box you are using if the rest is not important to you, but I suggest tracking clubs and picking your 150 yard club as well because the stats you get back are more detailed. Up to you.

Then, for each shot you simply touch the screen where your ball landed. You can move it around until you get the exact position - a box with yard left to the center of the green will appear as you touch/move around to assist finding the exact location. Once you remove the pen from the screen, you touch the pen in the middle of the box for a straight shot, or move it to the sides to indicate a hook, draw, fade or slice. An image of the ball flight path appears as you do this. When you release for the appropriate ball flight (hopefully straight :-), a box/grid will appear with the clubs listed. Select the appropriate club and you are done with the shot. If you miss hit the ball, there is a check box on the clubs screen to accommodate this - again helps with adding value to your stats. At first this sounds like alot of entry for one shot, but the way they've done designed it and once you're accustomed, it's really not. If you decide against tracking clubs, you simply don't get the box/grid. This speeds up entry, but reduces the value of your statistics. Not worth it in my opinion.

When you get to the green, Golfwits automatically switch to putts mode. This part is really neat in my opinion. You select the distance of your first putt (unless you don't care about tracking this stat, you don't HAVE to do this, but again, I recommend for the value of the statistics it provides). Then you just click on grid - LL, Long, LR, Left, Hole, Right, SL, Short or SR. You just click what happened for each putt and your done. There is an option for Sand Save if the putt comes after being in the sand. Golfwits is smart enough to know that you came out of the sand and will automatically check it unless you put more than one putt in. You can uncheck it if you don't want to track that stat, but why would you do that?

There's so much more to tell, but that's the basics of entering your scores. I'll leave the user guide to fill you in on the rest.

2-0 out of 5 stars Inaccurate Course Descriptions
This is a terrific tool but some of the course maps had outdated information. For example, Phantom Horse Golf Course was remodeled 2 years ago but the information in Pro 2.0 still reflects the old layout.

2-0 out of 5 stars EXPENSIVE,... even the free download is expensive!
I initially wanted to purchase the software for my palm. At $40-50 it's a little more expensive, but the way they analyze seems worth it. Til I saw the real costs, the maps are not free! They costs $10 each, and if not made already, $20 each. One map can cost more than some of the other golf softwares out there. They do have Mapwits software, which with some effort on your part create your own maps, but it's only available when you buy the pro bundle, $90. If creating your own maps is a bit much then the costs can be very high (pda software $50 then adding approximately 12 maps, as much as $90-180 more, totaling over $200). To be fair they do have a lot of maps. They also have a free download version, but you can't test it without buying maps, so "free" is not free! I'm not rich nor lazy, so I'll reconsider them when Mapwits is included with the softwares or available for PC and inexpensive.

1-0 out of 5 stars Support non-existent
This product has potential, but not even the best of breed is worth buying if the support is not there. And that is certainly the case with this company. During my evaluation, I had to send my first email three times, and my second email just never got a reply. Forget it! The product also lacks basic data capture on courses and players too.
If you want the absolute best product for collecting and analysing golfing statistics, and you really don't need the PDA/graphics, then try GStatPro from MagaDraw - excellent design, extremely comprehensive and intuitive, and a mere $25

1-0 out of 5 stars This company is crap
Purchased the software for 129..0 full blown price. The manual is weak, had to spend a lot of time just expermenting, trying to get the software to do what the manual said it should do.

You cannot edit a shot you have to delete then add new...that is an edit.

When you want to set the type of shot: hook, draw, straight, fade, slice. Be careful easy to make wrong selection. Cannot really see how this is going to work on the course.

Could not get the most important part of Mapwits to work

Have spent the last three days E Mailing and calling. Have left a message on every name in company directory, no replies on either E Mail or phone

Try to find the phone # on their web site. Isn't one. Try to find a phone # in directory assistance isn't one.

I finally found one after hours of a google search. 1-360-354-8401. good luck on getting someone to reply

Would not reccommend this software to anyone. Has potential technically but none business wise. ... Read more
