2-0 out of 5 stars Not worth it
This software is mainly demos that one has to purchase somewhere else to have the actual game. Some games are very similar to each other so, in a sense, there aren't truly 200+ games. If you are just looking for ideas of games to purchase than I would recommend this as something to get otherwise don't bother. It does not contain any good full version games on it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun Golf Game
I purchased this game soon after getting my iPaq, and it is now the most-used application on it. This game has gotten plenty of play at the airport. The physics are excellent and the controls are easy to learn, but mastering the game, (particularly with the power player), takes some effort. The only drawback is that the game closes itself out after you finish a round. You can download new courses from the developer as well. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Melissa Williams is Wrong
Melissa Williams who also wrote a review is wrong. This is probably because she is too young to remember the original for the classic Nintendo. The PDA version is a fairly well done port of the Nintendo version. Everything you remember is there. Yes its hard so was the original and so was almost every other early game for the Nintendo so too bad and get better. Great port of a classic title a must buy if you are nostalgic for games of yesteryear.

5-0 out of 5 stars I find it's still current
Even though this item is from 2002, I find that the info is still very current. Owning this software also gives you access to a website where more current info & free updates are available for download, so I don't even notice that it's from 2002.

I've found that with this software, you can:
-Search restaurant features by cuisine, price, service, decor, location, etc. No more agonizing over where to go eat!
-Customize a personal restaurant list. Once you get it set up, you'll like this part!
-Record reservation details into your Date Book. Makes it easy!
-Install any of the 33 guides individually as you need them. I like only having on my Palm what I need and nothing that I don't. Plus this software doesn't take up much room to begin with.
-You get accurate and honest consumer-based reviews. It contains the same extensive info as the tall, skinny, burgandy-colored guides, but is much easier to navigate.

It also supports removable Palm OS memory cards and gives you the ability to beam restaurnat details to another handheld. This is great for when making dinner/lunch plans with others.

I use it for choosing restaurants for the family and for when entertaining friends. My husband uses his for scheduling business lunches with clients. They all think we're "in-the-know" with the best restaurants, but it's really just us using this software. Don't give our secret away! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of money+effort
This product is like an online catolog downloaded onto a simple disc. You can have the same catolog on any pocket pc download site (...) and you still get the same games and utilities free that you get in the CD. If you buy a CD with programs on it for 20 dollars, you should not have to pay more for each of the individual 500 things it come with.

They give you a [promotional offer] for a reason - it isnt worth anything

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Bother!! Surf the web instead.
I wish I could give it -1 star, for the unnecessary aggravation this package causes. It is nothing but an ad campaign for Handango, packaged to imply you are getting an actual product. When you load the CD it starts up a "catalog" that allows you to browse Handango's list of products and add the non-free ones to a "Wish List", for which you must pay, and then can download. To get to the "free" stuff, you have to browse through the entire catalog, highlight the title you want and double-click. This takes you to a "more info" page which really doesn't have much more info. Then you can "download", then "install" - which for most titles amounts to unzipping the files to a directory on your local drive. If you don't want to use the default directory, you have to enter the path TWICE. Then, finally, you end up with the exact same files you could download for free from a myriad of websites, much faster and more easily than from this stupid CD. And, you still have to actually install the software (a few titles install from the "download/install" page, but most don't).

I guess that's why the rebate is for the total amount of the purchase price - becuase you're not actually getting anything. Oh, yeah, and they're nice enough to offer you one of several of their other titles in place of the rebate, if you want. How generous of them!

There isn't a single title on this CD that you can have "for free" because you paid the purchase price, that you can't have for free from somewhere else. Also, while some of it is pretty good, most of it is older, BETA, or otherwise not quite up to par. Basically, it's your average freeware, and I've seen virtually every one of these titles in numerous other places.

Just on principle, I will not now buy ANYTHING from this stupid catalog, and I will ask for my cash back, not another of their titles. This is just a underhanded way of making the customer go to the trouble of obtaining their advertising. They might as well just put the URL for their website here, charge you to go there, and then give you back your money when you land on their site.

Save yourself the trouble (and the price of the stamp for the rebate form envelope, not to mention the shipping from Amazon[.com], if you didn't qualify for free shipping) and go directly to Handango's website, or to any number of other sites, for the same exact thing.

1-0 out of 5 stars not worth it
This product only contains demo software of products that handango wants you to buy. It is definitely not worth 20 dollars! Don't buy it!

Amazon.com Review

Anyone who has an interest in his or her golf game besides, "Did I hitit straight this time?" will find some use in Golfwits Pro. This useful littleprogram aims to help you document every drive, chip, pitch, and puttso that you can improve your game. We don't think that's toolofty a goal.

You can use Golfwits solely on your desktop PC, and you can also sync it up withyour Pocket PC (Windows CE) handheld device so you can take Golfwits with youwhile you're on the course. It also comes with a free Palm Organizer versionthat you can download from the Golfwits Web site. We chose to do the install forPalm Organizers and sync Golfwits up with our Handspring Visor Deluxe. There arenotes about this all over the Golfwits Web site, but just in case you miss them,be sure to do a HotSync with your handheld twice, so that it picks up both theprogram and the maps.

Which leads us to the maps. They are really the strength of the Golfwitsprogram. From the Golfwits Web site, you can access thousands of course maps allover the country (as well as a few other countries including Canada). A quicksearch for courses in the Seattle area turned up nearly every course we werefamiliar with--only one of our favorites was missing. However, the Golfwitsfolks seem open to suggestions, so if you request a map of your favorite course, they will most likely produce it.

Mastering Golfwits--especially on your handheld--will take some time. We had tosit down with it for a while before we got the hang of how to access statisticsand record our ball position and ball path on the course, so we advise that youwork with it and the online manual a bit before you hit the fairways. (Not tomention, it took us a while to figure out how to make the maps we downloadedsync up with our Visor--again, read the manual carefully.) But when on thecourse, once you're done recording ball position and club used, Golfwitscalculates everything else for you: remaining distance to the hole, score, andoverall game statistics.

You can also input data into Golfwits on your desktop, but this seems like asecondary function. The biggest benefit of the desktop version seems to bechecking statistics once you've completed a round on the course, and using thatinformation to improve your game. But if you're using Golfwits without a PDA,you can print out a Pro Book of your selected course from the Golfwitsinterface, take this scorecard with you, and then come back and input the gamemanually into Golfwits. Another function that's pretty impressive is the optionto e-mail your game to friends--though we only recommend this function if youactually played well.

You'd be pretty hard pressed to find a utility that goes as in depth into yourgame as Golfwits. In fact, we can't think of any program that does quite whatGolfwits does, making it an obvious choice for anyone who cares this deeplyabout the game of golf. --Ara Jane Olufson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars How it works
Golfwits is an all around fantastic golf score and statistic tracking system. It's got one of the best PDA interfaces I've seen - a very intelligent use of such a small space. They coin (or at least used to coin) it MIMO: Minimal Input, Maximum Output. I think it's an accurate description because you get tons of stats back from just a few simple touches on the screen.

You start with a scaled-down graphical image of each hole for the golf course (more on this later). To start a round you enter some minimal player info: name, tee, 150 yard club (for default club suggestions), HCP, and whether you want Golfwits to track clubs. You can enter just the name and the tee box you are using if the rest is not important to you, but I suggest tracking clubs and picking your 150 yard club as well because the stats you get back are more detailed. Up to you.

Then, for each shot you simply touch the screen where your ball landed. You can move it around until you get the exact position - a box with yard left to the center of the green will appear as you touch/move around to assist finding the exact location. Once you remove the pen from the screen, you touch the pen in the middle of the box for a straight shot, or move it to the sides to indicate a hook, draw, fade or slice. An image of the ball flight path appears as you do this. When you release for the appropriate ball flight (hopefully straight :-), a box/grid will appear with the clubs listed. Select the appropriate club and you are done with the shot. If you miss hit the ball, there is a check box on the clubs screen to accommodate this - again helps with adding value to your stats. At first this sounds like alot of entry for one shot, but the way they've done designed it and once you're accustomed, it's really not. If you decide against tracking clubs, you simply don't get the box/grid. This speeds up entry, but reduces the value of your statistics. Not worth it in my opinion.

When you get to the green, Golfwits automatically switch to putts mode. This part is really neat in my opinion. You select the distance of your first putt (unless you don't care about tracking this stat, you don't HAVE to do this, but again, I recommend for the value of the statistics it provides). Then you just click on grid - LL, Long, LR, Left, Hole, Right, SL, Short or SR. You just click what happened for each putt and your done. There is an option for Sand Save if the putt comes after being in the sand. Golfwits is smart enough to know that you came out of the sand and will automatically check it unless you put more than one putt in. You can uncheck it if you don't want to track that stat, but why would you do that?

There's so much more to tell, but that's the basics of entering your scores. I'll leave the user guide to fill you in on the rest.

Read my other reviews on "Courses and Mapwits" and "Golfwits vs. Intelligolf".

2-0 out of 5 stars Inaccurate Course Descriptions
This is a terrific tool but some of the course maps had outdated information. For example, Phantom Horse Golf Course was remodeled 2 years ago but the information in Pro 2.0 still reflects the old layout.

2-0 out of 5 stars EXPENSIVE,... even the free download is expensive!
I initially wanted to purchase the software for my palm. At $40-50 it's a little more expensive, but the way they analyze seems worth it. Til I saw the real costs, the maps are not free! They costs $10 each, and if not made already, $20 each. One map can cost more than some of the other golf softwares out there. They do have Mapwits software, which with some effort on your part create your own maps, but it's only available when you buy the pro bundle, $90. If creating your own maps is a bit much then the costs can be very high (pda software $50 then adding approximately 12 maps, as much as $90-180 more, totaling over $200). To be fair they do have a lot of maps. They also have a free download version, but you can't test it without buying maps, so "free" is not free! I'm not rich nor lazy, so I'll reconsider them when Mapwits is included with the softwares or available for PC and inexpensive.

1-0 out of 5 stars Support non-existent
This product has potential, but not even the best of breed is worth buying if the support is not there. And that is certainly the case with this company. During my evaluation, I had to send my first email three times, and my second email just never got a reply. Forget it! The product also lacks basic data capture on courses and players too.
If you want the absolute best product for collecting and analysing golfing statistics, and you really don't need the PDA/graphics, then try GStatPro from MagaDraw - excellent design, extremely comprehensive and intuitive, and a mere $25

1-0 out of 5 stars This company is crap
Purchased the software for 129..0 full blown price. The manual is weak, had to spend a lot of time just expermenting, trying to get the software to do what the manual said it should do.

You cannot edit a shot you have to delete then add new...that is an edit.

When you want to set the type of shot: hook, draw, straight, fade, slice. Be careful easy to make wrong selection. Cannot really see how this is going to work on the course.

Could not get the most important part of Mapwits to work

Have spent the last three days E Mailing and calling. Have left a message on every name in company directory, no replies on either E Mail or phone

Try to find the phone # on their web site. Isn't one. Try to find a phone # in directory assistance isn't one.

I finally found one after hours of a google search. 1-360-354-8401. good luck on getting someone to reply

Would not reccommend this software to anyone. Has potential technically but none business wise. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Those long plane trips will melt away as you hunch over your hand-held computer popping away at Bubblets. This tiny, addictive game from Casio Soft is so simple you'd think you could master it in five minutes and move on to something else, but the strategy and long-term thinking required will challenge a chess master.

Start with an array of different-colored (for CE) or designed (for Palm) circles and find matched sets to remove. It's child's play until you see that the bubbles on top fall if you choose to remove the ones underneath, often changing the whole field before you realize what you've done. Scoring is based on how many of the little guys you remove at once, so it's important to go for the big sets--but not at the expense of a bad late-game position.

If you see that you got greedy and flubbed a great play, just undo your last move and breathe a sigh of relief, though hard-core strategists will scoff at this lack of foresight. Try not to let Bubblets get in the way of your expense reporting or e-mail, though--the boss might not appreciate all the time you spend on "strategic planning." --Rob Lightner ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very impressive for a PocketPC!
Got this for my iPaq as a little diversion. Pretty impressive! It is quick to learn and quick to get going into the game. I wasn't looking for a uber-game, I'll save those to play at home on my PC. But this is fun for those times when you are waiting and don't want to read a book. Graphics are excellent, gameplay is easy and fast, and the cost is ok. Be warned that I don't play EverQuest for the PC, so I had no expectations going in.

5-0 out of 5 stars Ok . . . so it's not really Everquest
It's got more of a Diablo feel but still fun. It takes the places and familar spells from EQ and transforms them into a creative little time waster. Sure it's linear but what do you expect? You get 4 classes to choose from (Warrior, Dr00d, Mage, and Wizard) in this first installment.

So no, it's not really Everquest (what is other than the original) but if you're looking for a fun way to waste a few hours and a few battery charges, give it a try. ... Read more
