5-0 out of 5 stars A product that works
I have Filterkeys installed on three PC's in my house, and it gives me enough filtering protection and monitoring to feel relaxed about letting my family online. Filterkeys goes the extra mile in my opinion and specifically filters search engine searches AND results. It's a good thing, because it's easy to get unwanted explicit search results, and only Filterkeys cleans these up. It has a block list, allow list, and a good Internet history log. That's my favorite part of the program, because I can see "patterns" of surfing and obscenity detected. Email can be filtered for obscenity, and it records all the email addresses used on Hotmail, Yahoo mail, and POP3 email, so you get a pretty good idea of what people are doing with Internet and email. It works for me, and I would not want to have a PC without it for home use.

1-0 out of 5 stars Poor Support
Please buy with care, I purchased FilterKeys as part of the FamilyKeys product only two months ago now and I still cannot use it.
FamilyKeys is actually a combination of two other products, CPUkeys and FilterKeys. Although both products seem to fit the bill as far as functionality goes, I am unable to register either of them. I have valid serial numbers but the registration process does not work. You will not receive any support from the resellers of the licenses and there seems to be only a single support person for these products at softappco.
Repeated e-mails only received a muted response, and that after days of waiting. Apart from issuing even more serial numbers for me to try and use, they seem completely incapable of dealing with any thing other than selling you the product.
So in short, purchase with care, if all goes well you may never have a problem, but if like me, you get even a minor technical hitch, be prepared to live with the consequences and lose your investment.
Its a shame because of all the products I tested, this bundle seemd like the best choice.

1-0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Terrible Product
This is the worst experience I have ever had with software. I spent an entire day trying to get this to work properly. I changed the settings around according to the maual and all I ever got was a ban on every single internet site. It would not allow viewing of anything no matter what I did. Also, my computer has not worked right since installing this program, it keeps have "serious errors" now. THIS IS A TERRIBLE PROGRAM AND A WASTE OF MONEY.

1-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't Work
I bought this product because my 6 year old grandson lives with me. Ever since we went with a cable connection, I get unwanted pornography even when I am not surfing the web. There is a family friendly site I use very frequently that does not have so much as a swear word on it. The program blocks that site routinely. I have entered the URL and hit override as suggested, and it does not work. Temporarily disabling the software is cumbersome - and unclear. It also will not let you view large portions of the home page for MSN, even on minimum security settings. It blocks hotmail completely. It was a waste of money. I now have to look for something else.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nice software
Filterkeys software diagnostics helped me find a piece of spyware called Gator on my PC (*which I did not know I had!). Gator blocked my internet connection after Filterkeys was installed. When I ran the diagnostics and emailed them to Softappco, they informed me that I had spyware, and needed to remove it. I did, and everything works fine. It's not always simple to install software and get it to work, so the diagnostics and customer service really proved their value to me. This software is fairly simple to use, and once I set it up for each user, it just works. Not 100% accurate at filtering obscenity, but pretty darn close. It records and blocks obscenity according to individual user settings and I can review the log of surfing, email, WEB mail, and other low level things for each user. Owner's manual is OK, but could be indexed better. I am pleased with the product. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars free products are much better
This is very crude and out of date. It doesn't even approach the performance of free products like ad-aware and spybot, much less spyware blaster. Save your money and download spybot and spyware blaster instead.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is the best one out there
After reviewing all the popular programs out there. Honestly, it's not even close. This is the Bentley of all programs, yet it cost slightly less than the competition. If you're looking to clean up spyware and adware from your computer this is your best buy.

5-0 out of 5 stars FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY
I thought I tried everything to get this bloody spyware off my machine. I don't know how it got on in the first place but I knew I had a rogue program somewhere giving me pop-ups. I finally downloaded Zerospyware - the download, install, and requisite updates all went smoothly except for a crash right after the first full scan. But after that scan, it found not 1, not 2, but FOUR adware programs on my machine. I got rid of those and did a quick test but the pop-ups STILL came up. So I updated again - the first couple of updates seem to be incremental. Then did a rescan. THREE MORE programs, one of them a Trojan. At that point, quarantine required a restart. Another quick test and I'm happy to announce I'm finally clean and in control of my system once again.

So I just got it and already it's caught a total of seven spyware programs that I never wanted nor gave permission to be on my machine. That's the worst thing about these programs - the feeling of not having control and the worry about what they've been capturing. But for the first time in months, I feel confident that I'm clean and surfing safely again, thanks to Zerospyware. (Btw, 1.2 automatically updates to Zerospyware 2004 v2.0. Then it has another update available after that. So just keep updating.)

5-0 out of 5 stars A Really Great Program
I was extremely pleased with the ease of use of this program. I simply installed it and it was extremely simply and intuitive from there. It has some new looking technology that makes the user interface look great. It caught dozens of spyware's on my computer that I had NO IDEA I even had. Overall I recommend this product highly.

1-0 out of 5 stars This is not a good program
This might be a good program -- if you can stand the hassles. My computer substantially exceeds all the system requirements. However, after about a week, I started getting constant "illegal operation; program will be shut down" errors. Zerospyware's online help tech had me uninstall and reinstall. Same thing happened almost immediately after rebooting. I have no idea what the problem was -- and, frankly, no longer care. This was not the first problem I had with this program -- starting with the simplest of all, trying to register the sucker. I have signed AOL's Letter of Destruction -- complying with all its requirements -- so I can get my money back.

There are other anti-spyware programs out there. I'll likely see if one of them actually works as advertised. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars disaster
I ordered this software on July 3rd, but was not able to download it till July 5. Imediately upon instalation it corrupted my Windows ME software. I spent 6 hours on the phone with microsoft trying everything to uninstall it with no luck. I reinstalled my system software 3 times and still can't use my computer. I have wasted an entire Saturday on this software which I bought for protection, but instead ended up with my worst computer nightmare. Amazon has no tech support number, and if this software has one I was unable to find it before it destroyed my system. Iresponsible, negligent, malicious and malevelant. I regret mightily buying this software. I should have gone to the store and bought something by Norton.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy It
We needed to purchase a firewall for our business and this one was recommended to us. It was difficult to install, customer service was non-existent and the refund took weeks (minus the 26% processing fee for a download). If you're under the impression this product will provide ample virus protection, forget it, it doesn't. To try this product cost us time, money and frustration. Despite claims from Firekeys, the product allowed our computers to become infected with a virus. To clean the computers and install a firewall was costly. Repeated calls provided no results only frustration. When we requested compensation for cleaning the virus their software allowed into our system and we were told our request was "inappropriate". What was inappropriate is charging a refund processing fee for a product that was ineffective.

5-0 out of 5 stars Firekeys has the best tech support going
I am still very green with all this computer lingo but have been getting the best support service on this product. Prompt emails and phone calls. I only wish my internet provider and my puter tech support were as prompt and helpful.
Super service. Thanks

5-0 out of 5 stars Firewall is easy to use
This product at first seemed to block my email program, so I contacted the manufacturer's customer support by email, and the customer support was great - they called me on the phone within 5 minutes of my email, and helped make sure that Windows XP was OK, and suggested that my ISP should be contacted. Turns out the ISP was the cause, not Firekeys.

Also, free upgrades are available on the website, so I upgraded to the latest version.

The product captures and records a lot of information about internet activity that is interesting, but more than I need to know. The private information filtering feature is useful to monitor email content & web site forms. It can block popup ads (not perfectly - I have seen one or two slip past anyway), and the virus controls are unlike others I have seen, but appear to work. So far, no hackers or viruses have got me.

I like the Internet password protection - it stops programs on my PC from using the internet unless I enter the password - with this feature I have found that Microsoft automatically start a program called "WINMGMT.EXE" to automatically access the internet and I don't know what it's doing - I think it's upgrading my Windows software, which I think was an option I selected when I installed Windows. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars Buy this if you can find it on CD, but not Download!
My family has found this software very helpful. Once you get it set up, it works wonderfully. I wish I could say the same thing about Downloads from Amazon. We have had computer problems and have had to reinstall the operating system a few times. Unfortunately, you can only install this software 3 times before it locks you out. Amazon has been very unresponsive in trying to fix these problems. I would not recommend this, or any other software, that can only be purchased from Amazon by downloading it. Find it on CD somewhere else.

5-0 out of 5 stars Read INSTRUCTIONS for Successful Installation!
I had formerly had Norton 2003 on my HP Pavillion Pentium 4 2.53GHz with 512MB. That worked fine. I wrote another review stating how I needed to do something after an accidental McAfee Virus Scan corrupted my registry of my Norton 2003, so without protection I had to do something quick for my computers safety and my own peace of mind.

My computer had been so far gone, due to many deletions I had made, and not learning to leave things alone. I had just installed MSN Premium for my DSL and nothing was working correctly at all. I had no choice after the system was running haywire and doing nothing right, but to do a complete destructive recovery on my HP. For anyone who has ever had to start from scratch, well it was not easy. Luckily the great feature of HP is your D recovery drive. You can turn back time and make the computer once again, brand new.

After taking on the daunting task of re-installing every patch from microsoft update, all my former internet software, printers, and well, EVERYTHING, all over again, it was time for Norton to be re-installed too.

I had bought the 2004 version after the initial destruction of my Norton 2003 from that useless free McAfee Virus Scan that does NOTHING, but that installation of the 2004 was lost when I did the recovery. I was able to redownload from the site, where I purchased it, as they let you do that two times more in 60 days of purchase, which is great in my opinion. You just need the info they send in the email when you purchase. I saved a copy to the desktop too so it is always there, and I got the backup disc too. I was able to install this and run it flawlessly ever since with no problems at all.

I think alot of you that are having a problem with your Norton 2004 software is that you are not reading the installation document at the Symantec Site. This is crucial apparently to a successful installation. Have all of you first done the complete Defragmentation to your hard drive C as instructed? Have you cleaned out the temporary files completely? Have you removed ALL former Norton software and clean booted the computer as instructed? I did ALL of that and whatever else the instructions said to do, and my software works just great! My computer NEVER runs slower due to Norton 2004 software. Even when I am doing a complete scan and the Norton is running in another window, I can surf super fast, play games or whatever, with no glitches, no freezes, no PROBLEMS at all. I had some pictures sent to me, and Norton even detected a malicious script and blocked it after asking me, very efficiently, and logged it. It finds any spyware very quickly, live update works great too. My email is not supported by this program, clearly stated by Norton, but it DOES find anything in the email before it gets to my drives anyway, so in that case, works just fine. I cannot understand all the problems and complaints here, and hope that my words can help some others. I was afraid to buy this because I read my fellow reviewers thoughts and have respect for other opinions always, but this time I must disagree.

On the subject of customer service, it is great. Online support wrote me at least 10 times in reference to every single question I asked. The first reponse took a few days, but the next several emails came fast. They included links to the site with all appropriate information I needed, which was informative and helpful to me. One email had the instructions to install Norton 2004.

Not only was the tech support helpful, they gave me a FULL YEAR extension, ON THE HOUSE for all my troubles and for re-purchasing an upgrade with Norton as I lost some of my old subscription time on my 2003 which was good until 9/2004. They made the time up to me, and then some.

Bottom line is, this is excellent software with NO defects, NO freezes, NO slowing the machine down in the least, NO crashes, NO re-activations, NO rebooting, NO PROBLEMS!

If you are having this trouble, I would suggest you go read the document at the site, how to install Norton 2004 and clean boot the computer. If you unistall and reinstall once more the right way, you may just get a far more positve experience out of Norton Antivirus 2004. Good luck cyberfriends!

1-0 out of 5 stars What a ripoff!
The problems began when the installation froze, stretching installation time to a whopping five hours! Once the software was finally installed, it encountered an "internal error" which could be "addressed" at the Symantec website. Unfortunatly, however, the technical support link is non-existent. Literally, "www.symantec.com/techsupp" DOES NOT EXIST!!! This also renders live updates impossible. Of course, this issue could probably be resolved on the phone during the work week for the low price of 30 bucks. Instead, I'll just trash this piece of crap and spend 40 bucks on PC-Cillin 2004. Buyer beware!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Interesting provider of non-costly software
That was an OEM and I didn't expect more than a CD-ROM. Nisofts provided me with a Norton Antivirus 2004, which was installed flawlessly. They reacted fast to Amazon order and they shipped the software fast. They deserve five stars.

4-0 out of 5 stars Best antivirus I have tried
I have tried other antiviruses, and I have found this one to be the best, not giving me false detections of infection of vital files, and easy to use.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't install this product unless you want endless trouble
Purchased this product and received and installed it on July 10, 2004. Took 6 hours to install, have it not work, uninstall and then diagnose problems etc. Endless little hassles and it makes me think this product was not yet ready for release, but the company wanted to start people out on it so they could cash in. I previously had Norton Internet Security 2003 and wanted to upgrade to 2004 Professional as it advertised the spyware and keystroke logging interception. Well the 2003 version worked ok, but now it is gone with the wind, replaced by this new one. If I had known how much trouble it would be, I would have kept what worked and not tried this new one. I have Windows XP and you must uninstall the XP hotfix patches, install the Antivirus, then reinstall the patches. What a headache! Well I think I have it working now but my system is running very slow, and there may be repercussions. Also, the instructions on the Symantec website for problem resolution will have you going in circles! Buyer beware. Maybe they will improve this product at a later date. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended, best backup program by far..
After reading the reviews in here with much hesitancy I bought the program over the weekend, and before I opened it went out to the Symantec website to check hardware compatability (which you should do with any software product these days just to be sure.)
I had used a prior version of Ghost and it was a little quirky (but it did work fine, with high quality cdr's) but 2003 seems to have fixed alot of problems and has some great new improvements. I started out simple and went for a straight image to CDR's.. while not the fastest method it worked without a hitch.. It also works great with USB external drives as well..much faster than cd's even on USB 1.. I've got 3 computers backed up on an 80GB external.. awesome! It does have limited DVD support as a few people mentioned but DVD's are new and it will take a little time to catch up.. I think the reason most people are having problems is not reading the manual, it is a complex program but simple at the same time.. All the answers are there if you look for them, too many people are just used to installing a program and figuring it out as they go along.. If you've ever experienced a hard drive failure or system crash without a backup (as I have) you quickly learn how important backups are.. With Ghost 2003 regular backups are a snap, get a USB drive and along with CDR's you can have 2 sets just in case..

5-0 out of 5 stars Ghost 2003, best hard drive image maker yet.
The new Ghost 2003 supports USB 1.1, 2.0 and 1394 Firewire hard drives and cdrw and dvd-rw drives. You can create a single floppy disk that will let you save a image of your hard drive to a 2nd partition of your hard drive, a 2nd hard drive, cdrw drives ( will span multiple cdr & cdrw discs), dvd-r drive, external usb 1.1 & 2.0 hard drives and 1394 hard drives.

You can restore you saved image from the same single floppy disk.

Ghost will create a virtual partition and boot to pc dos to image your hard drive without the use of a floppy. Caution, if you cannot boot to your hard drive, you must create a bootable floppy or cdrom to restore your image.

5-0 out of 5 stars Can Ghost 2003 make a bootable drive across a network?
I'm using these discussions to help me decide on purchasing Ghost 2003. What I need to do is change the old hard drive on my Notebook by moving the O/S and installed programs to new bootable hard drive. I would like to "image" or "clone" the Notebook's old drive over my home network to a new hard drive that is installed in an external enclosure and connected to a PC by USB or Fire Wire. I hope to end up with the new drive being an exact bootable copy of the old drive and to then install it in the Notebook. My 5 stars assumes that I can do this. I know that Ghost can "image" across a network to/from USB and Fire Wire but is the final restored/cloned drive bootable? Has anyone done this or is Ghost capable of doing this?

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Ghost!
Great Product!

I had to recover my computer after a fatal error with a ghost image and it worked flawlessly. As for the comment made in a previous review, Ghost does not back up the MBR (master boot record) on your hard drive. It only images the drive that you specify. It's not that the images didn't work but Ghost doesn't back up the MBR. If you ever need to restore the master boot record you can use a bootable floppy with the FDISK command on it and restore it with the FDISK /MBR command. This will restore the MBR from the back up copy that is on the hard drive. Over all very pleased with the product and I always keep a ghost image on hand just in case.

1-0 out of 5 stars not a backup program
It is misleading to call this a backup program. The program doesn't "backup" files, as is generally understood. It images the disk. Disk copy programs can be had for a lot less. ... Read more
