3-0 out of 5 stars Good way to learn, but expert level is inadequate
The following refers to version 1.1, which has hi-res support and looks great. The interface is easy to use and there are helpful features like word lookup, score history, and hints. The hints, though, are often not very good, because the AI even at expert level is simply not a sound player. It seems to rely on its vast knowledge of the official Scrabble dictionary (which is a maddeningly inconsistent book, but at least it's a standard) without paying much attention to strategy. For example, it will routinely play an "s" for 5 or 6 points rather than keeping it in hand for a killer move; and when it discards letters, it always seems to discard all 7. It also frequently overlooks obvious better plays.

If you routinely score 300 points or better, you won't have much trouble beating this game. But it does give good practice, and it's a great way to learn obscure but handy words for your next game against a human opponent.

4-0 out of 5 stars The computer makes an interesting opponent
Very enjoyable, so long as you understand that the computer opponent plays differently than a typical human opponent. Even when you set the opponent's level to "Novice", it will frequently come up with obscure words like "xu", "jiao", "tyee" or "aioli". It's also better that most casual players at finding places to create multi-word combinations. It knows that a well-placed 2- or 3-letter word will often score higher than a larger word somewhere else. But it's still beatable and fun, and it will probably help make you a better player.

2-0 out of 5 stars Scrabble Dictionary Needs Improvement
I was very happy with the Palm OS Scrabble game until I discovered that MANY words were not included in the game's dictionary.
Often, words were not cross-checked, so that a word, acceptable for the palm, when made plural, would be counted as wrong for the non-Palm player, even though it was correct in a regular dictionary (e.g. daydream/daydreams.) I also found that a word would be considered right for the Palm, but wrong for the player. This was frustrating and discouraged further play.
I would love to see an expanded and accurate dictionary created soon.

1-0 out of 5 stars NOT for Win 95/95/XP/2000
This is ONLY for the Palm OS. In some places, it says WIn 95/98/etc. Well, it's NOT!

USELESS

5-0 out of 5 stars Great, but not OWL
I think this game is great and the implementation on PalmOS PDA is fantastic. Not only is the color usage great, but fitting everything onto a small pixel screen is amazing. I never feel that it is too small, though.

My only complaint is the dictionary. It does not use OWL (Official Tournament and Club Word List) but some version of OSW (Official Scrabble Words) or OSPD (Official Scrabble Players Dictionary), the combination of which is usually called SOWPODS. Grrrr. So, on some words that I know are words accepted in professional play, I end up hitting "accept word" after I get the popup saying it is not a word. [edit: Turns out to be OSPD, which is still quite limiting]

The latest version has the definitions, but I don't care for that. Many people will, though, and it is a great feature. I either know the definition or don't care, but I do not have the memory space in my PDA with all my other applications. Perhaps when I upgrade my PDA I will add in the defintions.

Complaints aside, this is a great implementation of a great game and have it on my PDA. You should, too. Definitely a five-star game. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Just a screensaver
I found Anidragon to be a very nice screensaver, but very little more. If you want more/different dragons, you have to buy them individually. Maybe it will be better when the viewer can interact with the dragon.

5-0 out of 5 stars anidragons is the best!!!!!
I've only tried the demo.(my mom hasn't bought it yet.but I will get her to soon....)but anyways its still cool. But I would love to buy the blue spiketail dragon or something like that.I havn't decide on whether to make carniverous or to be a herbivore.but anyways I hear its really good and by trying the demo I agree. though on the demo there's this dumb thing where after maybe 5 to 6 minutes some dumb thing comes up that says unregistered version.and it wont go away. But anidragon is the coolest thing ever.the best virtual pet ever.(and beleave me I've tried a lot of virtual pets.) its especially good if you love dragons. It's cute and fun to watch because you never know what its going to do.

5-0 out of 5 stars A thrilling example of imagination at its greatest
Having been around Anidragon for a while now, I DarkHome, Pass My Insignificant Decree! ..

This Program, This wonderful program, has kept me and my niece entertained for HOURS. You never know what your wiley dragon will do next, how it will react.

As time passes on, As you update your Anidragon, you discover new behaviours, animations, an hilarious Hijinks :)

A MUST for dragon Fanatics...

All I can say, is I'm impressed this far, an as the animations increase in complexity its SURE to get better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Splendid!
Anidragon is delightful. Even though it is still quite new, and just a little buggy, the staff is always VERY supportive and swift to respond.

The world ("Atoll of the Tower Moon") is rich, and very open-ended... As of January 2004, the screensaver is still very much in development, and new builds are coming out regularly. There are a number of attractive dragons to choose from, as well as the option of herbivorous dragons for those who are squeemish. Also available is a "Treasure Hoard" of items the dragons can collect from all over the Atoll and carry off to the cave. Once all items have been collected, only a keystroke is needed to re-distribute them, and keep the dragons busy indefinitely.

Sure, the program can be a little buggy. It's new, after all. Personally, I've never experienced it crashing my system or causing any more havoc than an herbivore eating meat, the live snacks vanishing into thin air, or (on a rare occasion) a dragon getting "stuck" in one spot. Still, these are minor irritations, and the staff at Anidragon continues to respond promptly to email. They've always been very cordial & helpful.

In my opinion, it is the makers of Anidragon and their obvious interest in their project who make Anidragon so much fun. Users are encouraged to submit ideas to the forum regarding ways to make the screensaver more exciting. We regularly see staff responses, indicating our ideas have been heard and are being integrated. We've been told there are some awesome updates being planned for the screensaver - and I am one customer who will DEFINITELY be there to check 'em out. I love my dragons - all nine of 'em! ...
