If you're comfortable putting in the time, research, and education it takes, Quicken Lawyer 2003 Personal can help you produce certain, simpler, legal documents and avoid the money you might otherwise invest in an attorney. With new document templates, an electronic legal manual, and personal record worksheets, Quicken Lawyer 2003 Personal can help make a legal mastermind of just about anyone.

Quicken Lawyer 2003 Personal has several different help features to assist the user in need. There is a guide on the right side of every interview screen to help you as you work through each document. Quicken Lawyer Onscreen, a built-in reference guide, consists of the legal manual and a user's guide. Included is a glossary, which puts all the "legalese" into plain English for the everyday user. Finally, Quicken Lawyer 2003 Personal provides extensive resources and support on the Web for the user who might not find what they are looking for within the program.

Quicken Lawyer 2003 Personal contains many different documents you can produce yourself. Some document titles include: Will, Living Trust-Basic Trust, Healthcare Directive, Durable Power of Attorney for Finances, and Child Care Agreement. New documents in the 2003 version include: Information for Caregivers and Survivors, Notice to Put Name on Do Not Call List, and General Bill of Sale for Personal Property.

It's important to remember that any legal documents must be carefully considered before being relied upon to suit your needs and carry out your wishes. Most of the documents come with a disclaimer stating that if you want advice geared toward your specific situation, you should consult an expert. Still, for home users, Quicken Lawyer 2003 Personal should fulfill many basic legal needs. --Kendra Hayden ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great educational product, no substitute for a lawyer though
I used this product to practice writing up my will, my living trust and estate planning documents. It has very good online help, and explains the terminologies, includes checklists, and answers a lot of legal questions. This product will save you time with a real lawyer (who charges by the hour), in that you don't have to ask the real basic questions, since you've already been tutored. The will generated is perfectly legal, but I would advice using a lawyer for more complicated documents. The checklists and the instructions to give to your executor are great, because you can list all of the details you'd want someone to know about in case you are gone.

As others have stated, there was no promised rebate coupon in the box.

5-0 out of 5 stars Solid, User Friendly, Great for Straightforward Situations
BOTTOM LINE: Quicken Lawyer Personal ('QLP') is a great, low-cost alternative to hiring a lawyer to prepare your basic estate planning document, which will run you a minimum of several hundred dollars. It takes just minutes to prepare a will, but its legal manual/support resources are extensive enough for those that want to spend much more time understanding the what/why behind their documents.

QLP is published by Nolo Press, a well established publisher of self-help legal books. QLP begins by walking you through a number of typical life-stage situations (i.e. young w/ no kids, married w/ kids, etc.) and comes up with a list of suggested documents and along the way explains why you might need each of these documents. When creating a particular document, the software writes all of the legal language for you - you do not write a single word of legalese - and docs are tailored to each state's requirements. To get information from you and have you make decisions about the content/structure of your documents, QLP follows the typical "interview" format - easy to use and informative along the way. My wife and I each created wills, healthcare directives and powers of attorney in about an hour or two.

PROS:
- Ease of use: idiot-proof interview format
- Legal help: good offline manual, good resources at Nolo website
- Clear execution information: tells you exactly what each document needs to be put into effect (some need notarization, some need just witnesses)
- Address book: enter a person's info (i.e. your spouse) and don't need to enter again in other parts of same doc or other docs

QLP is primarily estate planning software. It has a few of the most important ancillary documents (Child Care Agreement, Limited POA for Finances), but Kiplinger's Home Attorney and Broderbund's Family Attorney have a full complement of general use form documents. However, if you look through these lists, most are either not really necessary (Trip Permission Slip you can write yourself on scrap of paper or school gives it to you) or are better left to professionals unless you know exactly what you are doing (i.e. residential real estate sales contract and home services contract - too much legalese in there to just print, drop your name in and sign!?).

COMPETITORS: As mentioned above, Kiplinger's Home Attorney and Broderbund's Family Attorney have a more extensive list of docs (many of which you'll never need IMHO). Home Attorney came preloaded on my computer so had a chance to try it -- not nearly as user friendly, kind of clunky and actually makes you edit the document to enter your name, county, etc - this scares me. Don't have Family Attorney so can't comment on its ease of use, sorry. If you really need a ton of general use forms, get Home Attorney or Family Attorney - otherwise stick with Quicken.

GET A LAWYER IF: While QLP functions well as an advisor, telling you when you might need certain documents or even specific provisions within documents, it has its limits and is candid enough to admit it during the interviews/tutorials. Get a lawyer for situations like: you expect to owe federal estate taxes ($1.5 million limit in 2003 and going up rapidly), you own a small business or you expect to have a messy family situation upon death (i.e. an ex-spouse or children that don't get along) or live in a community property state.

1-0 out of 5 stars No support?
I bought this software a few months ago but didn't get around installing it until today. When I tried to register the software I got the message that the software is no longer supported! I was asked to call an 800 number to get a discount on an upgrade. This is the first time I ever ran across a name-brand software package that discontinues support before the software is even one year old! While I may still use the software I found it appalling that the publisher of this software dares to force customers to pay for an "upgrade" immediately upon installation of software that they just purchased.

1-0 out of 5 stars Support ended after just a year and a half????
I am an owner of Quicken Lawyer 2002 Personal Deluxe. I had to reinstall the software when my computer quit. I bought a new one and installed QLP2002. When I went to use the automatic web update of the software, I was informed that "This version is no longer supported, and Web Update is not available... we recommend that you upgrade... for only $29.99. It is an outrage that Nolo has revoked patches they had previously made available. The lack of any support is the reason I will NEVER purchase another Quicken Lawyer product.

1-0 out of 5 stars No long-term support?
I am an owner of Quicken Lawyer 2002 Personal Deluxe, which according to Amazon is just ONE VERSION BACK from this one. When my computer went south last week, I bought a new one and installed QLP2002. When I went to use the automatic web update of the software, I was informed that "This version is no longer supported, and Web Update is not available... we recommend that you upgrade... for only $29.99."

While, yes, I'm sure that legal things do change, they do not change that much, and I find it reprehensible that Nolo has revoked patches they had previously made available. Imagine any other manufacturer doing that -- "sorry, Office 2000 is no longer supported, so you can't download the patches we previously made available to you. Either use Office 2000 with none of the bugs corrected, or pay $400 for Office 2003." Ridiculous. So, while I did like the software, the lack of any longer-term support is a real turn-off for me. ... Isn't money supposed to make our lives easier? Quicken 2003 Premier takes that thought to heart and streamlines financial tasks as simple as recording bills paid or as complex as devising retirement strategies. New users will quickly be exploring their accounts online and checking out options for excising debt and investing wisely, while upgraders will find the new interface even cleaner and more intuitive than before.

The Web-based system is simple to understand at a glance, easy to customize, and fully integrated with Internet Explorer--so users can quickly find financial information online from banks, brokerages, and Quicken.com. This makes most banking and investment account record keeping trivially easy, though of course not all institutions are Web compatible yet. Simple planning of investments, retirement, and debt reduction is just as easy, using the templates and wizards easily available from the software's start page.

More adventurous users will find a wealth of online resources enabling them to automate tasks related to investments, but should take great care when setting up such assistance. Some of the advanced features are difficult for novices to understand; they are well-advised to consult with professional financial planners before committing resources on their own.

Quicken 2003 Premier won't make anyone rich overnight, but it will help people frustrated by the complexity of today's financial world get a good night's sleep. --Rob Lightner ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Worse than junk
Buying this software was the worst financial decision I have ever made. My accounts are so messed up by now that I'm on the verge of starting over, thus losing nearly ten years of historical data. With Quicken 2000 my account balances were reconciled to the absolute penny. I always knew where my finances, but now I don't trust anything I see.

I wish I'd never laid eyes on this software.

2-0 out of 5 stars Problems with Quicken 2003 H&B
I have been a Quicken user for many years, and have never seen a product as unstable as Quicken 2003. Bank accounts that were solidly in balance somehow becomes "out-of-balance" and Quicken forces me to put an adjustment entry that is not needed. This then forces it out of balance, although Quicken says it is balanced. Huh? Also, the Backup utility somehow stopped working and stopped allowing me to create a backup file. I get all sorts of errors now. Maybe the other reviewers are right. I probably should switch to MS Money. Arrrgh!

1-0 out of 5 stars Too much, too little.
As a previous user of quicken basic and quickbooks, Premier version has just added lots of additional, unnessary and irritating options. Advertising for more of quickens features are displayed on every menu, screen and report/graph. Quicken basic has all the good fundamentals for the average guy or small business even, and if someone outgrows basic move right to Quickbooks Pro. Forget about messing with these useless features that add no value just cost.

1-0 out of 5 stars A Monumental Pain
I've spent the last three evenings trying to get accounts properly set-up. I've had a horrendous time importing my brokerage data even though it download all of it from my broker. It doesn't create reports, tells me the data for my stocks are unavailable because the symbol is wrong yet, though the symbol is corrected, it remembers the incorrect one! Nothing to do but delete and re-enter.

I've already uninstalled and re-installed the program twice because it doesn't completely erase transactions that are incorrectly entered. Further it doesn't integrate my paychecks properly. After entering year-to-date information and latest paychecks it determined I've earned $-342. from my job! I know I'm not paid nearly what I'm worth but jeez.... It came to this conclusion DESPITE the fact that I cross-checked each entered paycheck and they were entered correctly. And heaven forbid you're a wage earner with different statements every 2 weeks, Quicken likes to assume all your paychecks will be the same. Your company changes its pay schedule? You're screwed. It will demand a statement on dates which are no longer valid. Have a taxable benefit from your company that isn't listed in your pay? No way to enter it!

It doesn't import TurboTax 2002 data either!

This has been a terrible disappointment. For what I paid, $$. I feel I've been completely ripped-off. The online help is a joke. I hope MS Money is better than this.

1-0 out of 5 stars Quicken 2003 is a disaster!
I have had Quicken for 15 years and just upgraded to 2003 version. I have had nothing but problems with it. I just purchased a new computer and have tried to backup my quicken files on a floppy and a cd without any success. Though my original backup is there, I have tried to transfer and copy the
data without any success. It will not allow me to get that infomation. I have lost precious time in what used to be a simple procedure. There is no helpful technical support. I do not recommend this version at all and as soon as I can get out of it, I will go back to an earlier version. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

With Intuit Quicken 2001 Deluxe, it really is possible to have apaperless home office, as long as you have Internet access--and, of course, youmake sure to file your financial documents in another room of the house.

Intuit's latest release of the popular personal-finance/home-business softwarebreaks new ground in its tighter integration of the Web-based services atQuicken.com, with its hard-drive-based number-crunching software.College-planning calculators, 401(k) advice, and home-purchase calculators allare summoned by a click on a tab in the software--and a swift launch of your Webbrowser.

"So, what," you say? "I can find those financial calculators anywhere online, not just at Quicken.com"? Well, the best aspect of all of this Web-enabling isthe amount of typing that it saves you at the front end. The biggest hurdle tostarting with any of these home-finance programs has been that you've got toinput the data from your bank statements, checkbook, and ATM slips by hand toget any real sense of your finances. Thanks to the broadened online account- access capability of the new Quicken 2001 Deluxe, and an online bank account, you can download all of that information from your bank, and import it to yourQuicken application.

By the same token, you can make transfers and payments over the Internet byusing your Quicken software, or export your stock portfolio information to asecure area of Quicken.com, so as to benefit from online stock updates and otherinvestor information.

Intuit also has worked to make Quicken 2001 Deluxe more cohesive internally--youcan perform global find-and-replace operations, instead of jumping from file tofile, hoping for answers. You can set Quicken to notify you of tax deadlines andupcoming bills, as well as when the software itself is about to need updating. It's also a little easier to set up the program to track those transactions ofyours that are tax-deductible.

This version for Macintosh is not perfect, by any means, although it's closer toits PC counterpart in terms of functionality. Mac users now get preset access tomore banks than in previous versions, but not as many as would make onlinebanking setup a breeze. To take advantage of the new online/offline leveragethat Quicken 2001 Deluxe promises, it's best to have a fast connection to theInternet, and be at peace with the fact that some amount of real-world setupstill is necessary to make this software sing online. --Elizabeth Aoki ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Okay...but could be better.
I have owned this product for quite a while, and this piece of software is okay for the basic consumer who just wants to balance their checkbook. I have yet to explore the other features such as stocks and other stuff, etc. There are some major faults in this program. The program should have a link to TurboTax Deluxe, and the pertinent entries should be able to be communicated to TurboTax and vice versa. Additionally, the interface is a little primitive, even for Mac OS 9. Admittedly, Intuit has a general monopoly in the field of finances, especially for the Macintosh side, and unfortunately, the program does display these faults. There is relatively little attempt in the program to make it easier for Mac users (as Windows users), even despite the software patches. All in all, beggars can't be choosers...and for all its worth, this program is superior in what it does.

1-0 out of 5 stars Shockingly bad
I used Turbo Tax, so I didn't think my transition to Quicken 2001 would be so hard. It has been impossible! There's no walking you through entries like with Turbo Tax. If you don't know what the program wants when it asks for some obscure accounting term, you have to switch to a buggy pdf file for answers, and those answers are useless if you can find them. The program is buggy. There's no way to use anything other than M$ Explorer every time the program wants to take you to a browser. And as expensive as the program is, half of the buttons take you to pages that are trying to sell you more services that should be included. Why should I pay Intuit 10 bucks a month to pay my credit card bills? That service should be included, or be closer to the price of a stamp, which is all it costs now to mail in a check. I feel like I've been slimed.

3-0 out of 5 stars Quicken refund comes through
An update: Intuit has come through with a full refund after my Quicken Deluxe 2001 for Macintosh failed to create any reports (see review below). So, my final review: Customer Service: 5 stars. Product Usefulness for me: 0 stars. Overall Rating: 3 stars.

2-0 out of 5 stars Intuit makes good on rebate ... but serious problems remain
I said I would update my posting if Intuit made good on their rebate offer, and now they have done so. I received a nice letter from Intuit saying they had seen my review at Amazon.com, and that I would be receiving a rebate shortly. The $20 check came today.

BUT -- I've run into some fatal errors in attempting to use my 2001 Deluxe for Macintosh. Essentially, I have been completely unable to produce any kind of a report whatsoever. As you can imagine, after entering months worth of data, being unable to analyze that data in any way leaves the program virtually worthless.

I spent many hours trying to track down the problem. Every time I tried to create a report, the program crashed, and I received a Type 1 error message. I added 128 MG of memory to my G3 (for a total of 160 MG), but still the program crashed. I downloaded the Quicken Deluxe for Macintosh Release 2 update and installed it. Still the program crashed.

If you call to try to speak with a real live person, Intuit will charge you $2.00 per minute. Refusing to throw good money after bad trying to fix their problem, I went to the Help files on the website again, and after several hours I found a Q&A explaining that an Error Type 1 may occur when attempting to create reports if you are using an HP DeskWriter printer driver, version 6.0.4.

Guess what? I've got an HP DeskWriter 6.0.4.

So I tried disabling the driver, but the program still crashed anyway. I finally gave up and spent an entire Saturday retyping in six months of data from my Macintosh into my old Quicken 6 for Windows. Now I'm using my old Quicken program, and I wish I'd never tried to upgrade.

Anyway, I'm giving them an extra star because they did finally come through with the rebate. Now we'll see whether they'll refund the rest of my money.

2-0 out of 5 stars Attitude is everything
I have found that Intuit is not a friendly company. They certainly do not give a rip for their users problems. I think that other products like MS Money or Moneydance would have a more helpful and a friendlier feel from thier company. I say the product is okay to so-so. The company is a giant and its attitude shows its true colors. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Theres better out there
I got this with high hopes and...well, I think I set my hopes too high. Maybe I expected too much.

I have only been getting into digital image editing in the past two years and this was the place I had picked to start from. I have a digital camera and scanner and use them both to get images to my computer and had hoped that this software would give me a great deal of choices in dealing with those images. Not so.

For one, the cloning tool is incredibly difficult to use. It is not intuitive (nothing in this program is) and often you have a hard time understanding where you are cloning from. The menu buttons with this tool, as with others, are set so far out of the way that they are not easily found (bottom left corner whereas the tool options are in the top left- also that button is very much the same color as the background, making it difficult to spot). I do a great deal of air-brush type effects in my pictures and it took me 1.5 hours to brush out one thing in a picture with this software. In comparision I used a different program (PSP7) to do something similar in ten minutes.

The rest of the options are equally as riddled with problems. Some of the filters and things that can be applied to the picture don't seem to work as well as other programs I have seen. The standard effects often come out buggy or misapplied. I have seen the Sepia filter skew an image a few times, for instance. The Dell imaging suite offers more choices and better results in that area. The warp tool is rigid and there is no chance of doing anything artistic or comical with it (no oversizing mouths like caricutures here).

The overlay function is either a)non-existant or b)so hard to find that I just didn't see it. I was trying to meld two pictures together and could get no results with either trimming the photo to try and fit or making it transparent to set it over the other.

It does capture images well though. It fixes red-eye nicely too.

For those who do not need a high-powered tool, this is perhaps your best bet. For those who want something that will allow them freedom to do with their photos as they wish, I would suggest something more powerful. The up in price is worth it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great results for novice users
Photo Explosion is a very easy to use, yet powerful, photo editing program. I use this program more than any of my higher cost photo editing software. It's easy to change the intensity, tone and color saturation of your digital pictures as well as apply a wide variety of fades to the edges of your pictures.

I've had several people comment that pictures that were edited with this program look better than photos that they had taken at professional studios. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Product for Personal Finances
I purchased Money 2002 Deluxe as an upgrade to the existing version I was using - Money 2001 Deluxe. The features in the 2002 version that was most helpful to me includes:
1. Being able to undo an action (e.g. especially for those times when you delete a transaction in error)
2. Having more printing options, especially in the "forecast" cash flow section. I've always found the older version had limited printing capabilities.
3. Being able to flag transactions for later follow-up or making notes, similar to to-do action items.
4. The home page is more customizable, so I could "see" at a glance my spending habits, to-do actions, cash flow, etc.
5. The Bills and Deposits section is much more improved - though it takes a bit of getting used to in the beginning.

The feature I didn't like is Microsoft integrating the money file with a Passport account. While it adds another level of security, i.e. having a password to access the money file, I think it is just Microsoft's way of pushing their Passport technology. Fortunately, Money can be used offline - so it's neither here nor there regarding the passport option. All in all, I think it's a great product.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Software I Own
I just balanced my checking account in 3 minutes so I felt compelled to put up a review proclaiming how great MS Money is.

First off, I was shocked to see that the overall rating for Money is so low. I tried to use Quicken Deluxe 2001 a while back and aside from hating the UI I just never felt that it worked very well. Things like balancing my account and paying bills online were awkward and I eventually gave up.

Money, on the other hand, has a beautiful, intuitive UI, makes balancing my accounts simple and sometimes automatic, and provides incredibly smooth online integration. The epay feature lets me pay all of my bills through money and they automatically get entered into my credit union's online bill pay system. Anytime something goes wrong, for example if I enter a date that's too early or if I haven't entered an address to send the bill, Money handles it smoothly.

I should note that my experience with MS Money is limited to entering and categorizing all of my transactions, electronic bill pay, and balancing my accounts so I can't comment on any of the reporting or budgeting features.

I noticed that a few of the negative reviews are from people that say they have a hard time managing their finances and it's not surprising these people would be let down. Money can't do everything for you and I spend a significant amount of time making sure everything is kept up to date. However, if you are willing to invest time to track your finances Money is definitely an application you should consider.

1-0 out of 5 stars Worse than you think
Being a MS Money user for the last seven years, I thought that the new version will improve my ability to track my personal finances, just as the previous versions did. Instead, I had to cope with the disappearance of my budget and, worst of all, an annoying Passport log in, which seems to have a serious security issue. Two days after installation and the first Passport log-in, I had two on-line charges on a credit card I've never used on the Internet!!!

Fortunately, I found my Money 2000 file backed up and restored normality by removing this threat from my system.

2-0 out of 5 stars More bugs than Windows XP.
Bought this when it first came out to replace Quicken (too slow).
More fool me - ghastly interface. More bugs than an ant hill and now it won't let me edit or view downloaded info and I've now got 78 items on one account needing 'previewing'.

I'd move the file back to Quicken but guess MS Money has now ballsed up my accounts so badly I'd be better off starting again.

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your money
The only major thing I learned about money from Money 2002 Deluxe is that buying it is a waste of money. It is user unfriendly, has a confusing layout and the "automatic" retrieval of information from the internet worked for less than half the accounts I put in the software.
Another "fun" thing was that the first time I set up all my accounts, budget etc., the Money file was saved to a folder on the LAN network - even though I was not connected to it at the time. I should have realized this, of course, but I didn't. Next time I tried to access the file it was not found, neither on the network, nor on the hard drive.
Money 2002 Deluxe is good for two things:
Cardio exercise - because it will definitely raise your blood pressure and heart rate whenever you use it, and
It will make your wallet a lighter and more comfortable fit in your pocket.. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for College Students
ENCARTA: In college, I can't use an encyclopedia as a source on a paper. However, I can look things up with the encyclopedia, so I have some clue about the topic and can determine where I should look to future research the topic.

MONEY: This is really good for keeping track of all of my bills (tuition, books, car payments, insurance, credit cards, etc.) This program takes a little bit to get used to and you have to keep using it to see how effective it is, but it helps make managing money a little bit easier.

PICTURE IT! PHOTO: I have a program that came with my scanner that does a pretty good job. When I want to add the 'little extras' to graphics, I use this program. I can create effects with this program.

5-0 out of 5 stars "No Longer a Skeptic"
At first I was reluctant to purchase this software (could be I was intimidated by the newness and unfamiliarity?). The installation was quite simple - just sit back and follow the simple instructions. I have used other software prior to Microsoft Personal Collection 2001 somewhat similar but not as sophisicated. I thoroughly enjoy using this software. I find me challenging myself to produce more projects, with the gratifiation that I they will be presented in a professional and neat format. I find this software to be very user friendly. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Will power is buggy
I purchased this product with the expectation that it would at least function properly. Unfortunately, the product has some serious bugs. I have installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled the product on my Mac (G4 runnig OSX Panter) to no avail. If all you want to do is create a power of attorney then this is the product for you. Otherwise, spend your money elsewhere.

1-0 out of 5 stars Find a different program instead!
I thought the Kliplinger Will program would be as functional as their TaxCut software, but clearly this program falls short. The instructions were bad, and what drove me the MOST crazy was that there was no delete feature (if you mistakenly list your mutual fund under a savings account, for example, you can't just delete or recatogorize the entry).

When I printed my V-E-R-Y simple will, the program managed to spit out 45 pages of lawyer-speak. What a waste of paper.

I can't return this dog fast enough. Thankfully Kiplinger allows a 60 day period for a full refund. I'm going to try the Quicken program instead.

2-0 out of 5 stars Willpower
Product had an error when entering the data. Called technical support and explained the error condition and even the cause. They seemed to have no interest in attempting to correct the problem. After a few attempts they did finally refund my money so I have to give them credit for that. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Didn't Meet My Needs
I bought AnyTime Deluxe 8.0 to meet two needs: To obtain printouts of address book and daily calender for my DayTimer planner and to synchronize this information with my Palm Pilot.

It was little things that bothered me about the printout capability. Although the program added lines to cut paper for reduced size used in planners, the size for a standard planner is not 8½x5½ as it should be, but rather 8x5. Also, there is no easy way of making double sided printouts using the program - you need either a printer capable of double-sided printing or the patience to develop your own process.

I was totally frustrated with the synchronization capabilities of AnyTime Deluxe. Not all contact fields (phone numbers, e-mail, fax, etc) in the Palm Pilot were transferred to AnyTime. This was totally confusing, since the mapping rules with the program showed them to be properly mapped. For contact information, the Palm has pull down lists for defining type of contact (home phone, business phone, etc.). This info is not transferred into AnyTime Deluxe. Rather, there are its own pull down menus. When you use these pull-down list and sync with the Palm, the description is added to the phone number. (Example, if phone number in Palm is "555-1234" and you add description "Business Fax" in AnyTime and resync, phone number in Palm is "Business Fax 555-1234", using up precious display space in Palm lists.) Most frustrating, on several occasions when I changed info in my Palm and resynced, the synchronization program tried to delete all records in my Palm.

Because of the frustrations with syncing, I uninstalled AnyTime. The program removed cleanly, but the synchronization conduit did not. It left its conduit in Palm's HotSync manager and failed to reactivate the conduits to Palm's desktop program. I had to uninstall and reinstall the Palm software and all other conduits I use to get back to where I was before trying AnyTime.

My advice: If you use a Palm PDA, don't use AnyTime Deluxe.

5-0 out of 5 stars I like AnyTime Deluxe
I like AnyTime Deluxe. I tried a bunch of other programs - different daily planners - and this one just seemed to be better. AnyTime has a feature that sends out reminders at different times, like every 3 or 4 days, or the last Friday of the month. The other calendar systems I've tried didn't have that many variables in the reminders. I've been using AnyTime for over 3 years, and would recommend it to anyone interested in staying organized!

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Networked Calendar
We have owned this product in Versions 7 and 9 for our law office for several years. If you need for more than one user to access the program simultaneously, as we do in the office, the program networks seamlessly. You could pay a fortune for a multi-user calendar like this from other vendors. If you have more than two users needing access, you can buy a license. I have seen many complaints in these reviews about technical support; I have e-mailed a couple of times and received a thorough response within 24 hours. The interface for the calendar and address book is easy to use. I highly recommend the program because of features, ease of use, and price.

1-0 out of 5 stars Do not buy if you want support
Anytime Deluxe 9.0 sounds good for the money. Mine quit working on WinXP after 2 days, and tech support did not reply to my complaint for over a week, when I was given the address to their FAQ page. It contained no helpful information. After calling them, the tech support person admitted there was a problem, and had me modify my registry. The software ran for about 2-3 days, and then stopped working again. I have called and written emails and tech support has not responded in over a week. Even at its best, the software is mediocre - so save your money and buy some software that works and that the company will support.

1-0 out of 5 stars Uncooperative and Annoying
I bought Anytime because I already had version 2.0. I liked the earlier version, but many of the things the older version had were either missing or less user friendly in 8.0. I couldn't load the files from version 2.0 directly into the new, (fortunately the old computer is still running so I could manually copy one to the other.) The entry process had a lot of unecessary steps which slowed down the process. Version 2.0 reminds you of missed date entries, the new one doesn't.

The version 8.0 has a lot of bells and whistles, like fax/cell/watts numbers, direct connection to e-mail, and a few others. The technical assist to Anytime is non-existant, either by 3 no-responce e-mails or 45 minutes on the phone. I'd stick with version 2.0 if you can load it into your computer, otherwise stick with Outlook. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Upgrade from 2002 - Maybe, Maybe Not
This is one of the most "usable" MS products out there. Complain all you want about their business practices, licensing policies or whatever, someone on the Money team really knows how to design a useful tool and an intelligible UI at the same time.

It's hard to say your really excited about an upcoming software release and still keep a straight face. Still, I couldn't wait to pop up the hood and have a look at Money 2003. Perhaps it's a case of expecting a really great product to be somehow greatly better, but I was disapointed to find more or less the same thing.

One improvement I noticed is better reconciliation of imported statements - something that still remains a little off. Despite this and a coule other positive tweaks here and there, I'd wait to upgrade to v2003 if you're anticipating something "greatly better".

On the other hand, if you really want to keep up with the Gates's, or you can't resist the rebate (both reasons I fell prey to), then by all means have at it. This is a great product from someone who really know what they're doing.

* Note: I don't use Money's (MSN) online services, so this review only applies to the desktop app.

1-0 out of 5 stars I hate this version!!!
I have been using Microsoft Money for many years and been pleased. I made the biggest mistake by upgrading to 2003. I had never bounced a check until now. It's register keeping is very confusing. It enters the electronic payments with a date of several days before it is due and it is very hard to tell how much money you actually have in the bank without calling and verifying with the bank. I am seriously considering switching to another software such as Quicken, since I can't go back to the previous version of Money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Tool to Manage your finance
This is an excellent tool to manage all your finances. Provides with all sorts of reports, Planners etc.

I had a problem though, i couldn't synchronize with MSN Money as promised. Microsoft suggested so many solutions, but nothing works. I couldn't sign-in to .Net Passport from Money 2003

3-0 out of 5 stars Awesome... when it works...
I used an old version of the product, but tried to do too much too fast. On this version I started with very basic functionality and added as I felt comfortable with whatever I had just added. My wife and I are both using the software on different computers and on the same money file. We never use the software at the same time. I also have it synchronized on my handheld. Sound like a complex configuration? Maybe... but this way she has access to balances and can do entry at home, I can check balances and do entry in my Dell Axim, as well as on my desktop at home.

Unfortunately... the file went corrupt or something. Wouldn't open because "this file wasn't closed properly", and it couldn't fix itself. When I restored the backup, then synced my handheld the transactions got jumbled about with the payee's and amounts getting totally mixed up. I gave up and started over. Very annoying.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fine software except for one thing.
Overall I'm pleased with my purchase of Money Standard 2003. It's a very useful tool. The account register allows for categorization of all transactions, which produces interesting reports on how all your money was spent and the bills section makes sure you won't forget to pay those many bills on time. However, if you read the fine print on the bottom of the box you'll notice that it says that portfolio quotes downloading functionality and the ability to synchronize your data with MSN Money expire 1 year from first use of Microsoft Money Standard or September 1, 2004, whichever is earliest. Now what is the point of that?! It sounds like part of the software becomes useless after a year. But since I will have gotten it for free after rebates (not counting the time value of money), I suppose I can't complain too much. ... Read more

Handmark's PocketMoney is the perfect system for PDA users who want to keep track of their expenses with up-to-the-minute specificity. Whether you need to track outgoing expenses while on the road, figure out just how much gas your car is guzzling, or divide a restaurant bill evenly between diners, this program can handle it all.

PocketMoney is a quick and easy way to track your incoming deposits and categorize your spending. PocketMoney supports all kinds of global currencies for the PDA user who spends money across multiple international borders. This program is easy to synchronize with your desktop and can export directly into Excel or Quicken. Additionally, you can update multiple PDA units by beaming information back and forth.

PocketMoney also comes bundled with a fantastic program called CheckPlease. For anyone who has ever had a long dinner with friends, you know what happens when the bill comes. Calculating the tip and each person's portion is always a problem. Well, this problem is solved with CheckPlease. Simply enter the information from the bill, what percentage you'd like to leave for a tip, and the number of people paying, and CheckPlease will spit out an indisputable, bottom-line number.

PocketMoney is also any commuter's best friend. MPG, another program included with PocketMoney, keeps track of your gas bill and tells you exactly how your vehicle is performing. 1-0 out of 5 stars This product is misrepresented
The product works well as a stand alone application, but does not work with MS Money. It is completely useless for those looking to something that will transfer back and forth.

5-0 out of 5 stars The one Palm app I use daily!
I am a HUGE fan of PocketMoney and have been for a year and half ever since I tried out the demo version. This simple little program is easy to use and will help you to keep your finances in line with minimal effort! I have tried Pocket Quicken as well and I'm happy to say that Pocket Money 2.1 is easier to use and more powerful (as well as less expensive!) than even Pocket Quicken. And as I mentioned in my title, this the only Palm app that I use on a daily basis..aside from the Datebook!

I use this in place of Quicken or MS Money. You heard me right...this little app is robust enough to be your stand alone financial software. Even better is that it's portable and does many of the things the desktop money managers do. Of course you can use it as a supplement for Quicken/MS Money as it does export QIF files, but on it's own, PM has the power and features to do everything you need.

Setting up accounts is easy as is doing the actual tracking of debits/credits and so on. You can set up recurring payments, regular deposits, and so on. You can set up which accounts are counted as part of your total net worth on the overview screen so that you always have a snapshot of just how much money you really have. The portability factor is great...stop at an ATM or purchase something and you can quickly record the transaction with a minimum of stylus taps and not have to worry about entering the receipts in your desktop PC when you get home.

The app is stable (never crashes), small in size (only a few hundred Kilobytes) and the password screen is a welcome basic safety feature. Plus, all your card info and bank contact data can safely be stored in this app in the event that you lose your wallet or need to call your bank!

If you buy just one Palm application or if you feel the need to organize your finances (and keep them organized), Pocket Money is a worthwhile purchase. I can't say enough about this great product!

5-0 out of 5 stars 2 accounts at once!
Both my wife and I like to keep track of our expenses on the road. PocketMoney allows us to both track expenses on our Palms and beam account changes to one another when we return. Really a time saver.

1-0 out of 5 stars Pocket Money
This product has a great format on the Palm, however as one who is not a wiz on the computor I gave up after spending about 6 hours trying to get it to interface with my Quicken. Might be a great product for those who are very computor literate but if your of the load and use nature, stay away. Also when I went to the Pocket Money support group I got a whole lot of instructions that may or may not have been in English for all the good they did.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing product! Exactly what I bought my Visor for!
Pocket Money is an amazing product.

The program works very cleanly. Within 1 hr of playing around with it, I actually had, for the first time in one place, a listing of what my net worth was! To me, that's an amazing feat. I've got my 401k totals there, stock holdings, checking accts, savings accts, home equity, credit cards, the amount of change sitting in my drawer, and even the amount of money sitting in my pocket!

It took only a few minutes, and the results are truly a peace of mind, because, with every transaction, whether ATM, or in a store, or wherever, I can open up the program, and quickly add the amount of the purchase or deposit or transfer, give it a category if I want, and who it went to, and that's it. Done. I can forget about it until my next transaction takes place.

Now I don't have to wonder if I'll have enough for this item or that. Just by putting in bills that I know are coming in at the beginning of the month, I can see how much I *really* have, rather than the tempting figure that sometimes prints out on an ATM receipt.

Thanks makers of Pocket Money! ...

Cardio exercise - because it will definitely raise your blood pressure and heart rate whenever you use it, and
It will make your wallet a lighter and more comfortable fit in your pocket.. ... Read more
