5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game!!
I recently purchased this for my 3 year old daughter. She LOVES this game! The games are great. They get more challenging as you improve. Also dressing up Kelly and her friends is great fun. My daughter especially loves grooming the animals and getting them ready for the parade. You can decorate the floats, and you have many decorations to choose from. Although not that educational, it does help them improve on their hand/eye coordination. Very fun for a little girl! Definately a must have!

5-0 out of 5 stars I was voted "favorite aunt" by my 3-year-old niece!
Apparently this is about the best $... I have spent lately (aside from the Gameboy game I sent my nephew). My niece is mesmorized by this game, and it is keeping my sister busy building parades. My niece is a little too young to run this program by herself, but she has definitely figured out what button needs to be pushed to make the parade start! My sister also told me that she likes the fact that you can save multiple parades for those days when she just doesn't have time to help create a new one. This seems to be a winner!

5-0 out of 5 stars Cute computer game!
I recently got this game for my 2 girls, ages 5 and 3, and it is one of their absolute favorites! They love the "Strike up the band" song at the beginning and have it memorized. They love choosing outfits, grooming the animals, and decorating the floats. They ask to play this game all the time! I highly recommend this game for any girl!

5-0 out of 5 stars Both my kids love this game!
I got this for my 3 1/2 yr old for Christmas, and both her and her 7 yr old sister LOVE it! They have played it for hours. The graphics are very good and it has lots of cute and entertaining games! I highly recommend this one! It's worth the money!

Amazon.com Review

Nearly any fan of Dora the Explorer's TV show will enjoy this structured "adventure" in which players help the program's intrepid heroine achieve the noble goal of returning her library books on time. While not exactly suspenseful, the program is ideal for children ages 3 to 5 who are just learning how to use a computer. Over a soundtrack of catchy Latin music, the player helps Dora and her perky friends overcome a series of seven obstacles, and collects sticker prizes along the way. The program is unlikely to hold the attention of more computer-savvy kids as it is very predictable, structured, and slow paced. But its emphasis on teamwork, and opportunities to practice color, shape, and number recognition--not to mention learn a little Spanish--make it worthwhile.

Only a minute or so into the program most adults will find Dora's incessant cheerfulness a bit old as she shouts out a steady stream of encouragement. But for kids, this aspect may not be so hard to take. Dora's pack of friends from the TV show all appear in the program, along with the Fiesta Trio, a dancing frog-snail-and-bug band.

The seven games that make up the plot of the program emphasize basic skills and concepts. They include locating Dora's books by color, sorting through her backpack for objects, and solving simple pattern-recognition problems. There are three levels of difficulty--each varies according to how much Spanish is used and how advanced the number and pattern problems are. One drawback is that if a child gets stuck there is no way to ask for specific help or hints. A useful feature, however, is the ability to stop and start the program where the player left off, and save individual programs for up to three different players.

While kids used to more fast-paced programs may quickly get bored, young children--especially those who are already fans of the TV show--will have fun developing their mouse skills and putting their problem-solving abilities to the test. --Molly Masland ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My 2 year old LOVES it. Great fun!
My oldest daughter loves Dora and took to this game immediately. She loves to sit on my lap and play and our father-daughter time is often spent on the computer. She can't get enough.

The 3 levels offer a nice change for children that are getting bored with the game. Some puzzles she plays at level 1 where some puzzles she plays at level 3.

The game is VERY educational and fun and it follows the same format as the cartoon does. She'll turn 3 soon and she still loves it.

I'd also recommend Dora's Backpack Adventure (they make a trip to the library), Little People Discovery Airport, Winnie the Pooh (where Pooh gathers all the friends for Eyores birthday party) and Mickey Mouse (where Mickey and Minnie stop off at Goofy's gas station / Daisey's diner).

2-0 out of 5 stars Average at best game; Dora only redeeming feature.
Do not buy this game if you are used to the better quality games Humongous software has produced for NickJR characters in the past: Humongous was sold to Infogames, and well, if this title is indicative, much was lost.

This game is saved only by the appearance of Dora. I really feel the two star rating is generous. My daughter is Dora crazy, and even she shows little to no interest in this game (and she loves edutainment computer games).

The program is not well executed, and there is little asttention to detail. One my daughter noticed was that at the begining of the game Dora collects 5 books to return to the liebrary. When she returns the books at the end of the journey, the colors of the books which come out of the backpack don't match the ones put in, prompting my daughter to ask "what happened to the books we put in Dora's backpack...

1-0 out of 5 stars Dora the Explorer takes you a short and boring journey
My 4 year-old daughter completed this game in less than a half-hour. The short-length of the game actually caused her too cry! I was shocked at the lack of depth in the game given that it weighed in at over 250MB for the install.

She's crying as I type this. "I don't like this game!"

2-0 out of 5 stars Atari must really hate paying customers!!
Well I would give this more stars if Atari support weren't so terrible!! The only reason I give it 2 stars is because my daughter loves Dora and likes playing this game because there are plenty of activities to try and places to go. HOWEVER, Atari seems to want to force you (due to their prehistoric copy-protection scheme) to keep the CD-ROM in the drive at all times in order to play the game! How ridiculous! Even though I paid good money for this game and it installed on my hard drive, it does not let you run it from your hard drive. Atari told me that you need to have the CD-ROM in to play it and they "cannot help me get around the copy protection". Well I don't know about anyone else's toddlers, but my 2 year old just loves to open the CD-ROM and take discs out to play with. So this leaves me out of luck if the disc becomes scratched after she's done with it! I think Atari should trust their paying customers a little more and allow them to install the game FULLY to their hard drive... if for nothing else to protect their investment! I will never buy another game by Atari because of this. They have no regards for their paying customers.

2-0 out of 5 stars Boring!
I have a 3 year old, and after a week, she is already bored with this game. For $20, there should be more to do. It constantly repeats itself, and has no real direction. Very limited number of activities available, and really no variety. I would not recommend this game at all. I am currently reading reviews to find something much more interesting. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars really weinerdog-rific
I've had this game for about 7 years and i used to play with it ALL THE TIME. It's great designing the clothes, but barbie likes to boss you around on what things you can put together, like you can't wear a scarf& wedding dress, and the clothes have gone out of style. You were only allowed to use a few colors at a time. But making the tabloid cover is really fun and i used to make them for EVERYONE. the 3d is really cheezy, and the fashion show thakes FOREVER to load(but the countdown with shoes is really cute).I think i once saw a newer version somewhere, but it might have been another barbie game. weinerdogs rule!

4-0 out of 5 stars It's Fun!
I think it's fun because you can make magazine covers and pages for a little magazine for your friends. You can design clothes for your Barbie, you get to color them, and put them together. It's fun because you can put shoes on it.

2-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS GAME ***
This is such a boring game ! It doesn't have too many clothes to choose from and not too many colors and designs ! If you want to buy a Barbie CD-ROM , buy Barbie Pet Rescue !

4-0 out of 5 stars Barbie's fun, but this game could be better
I got this game about 4 years ago, when I had one of the world's slowest computers. It worked just fine, but the fashion show took forever to load, so I never got to see that. Anyway, it was a lot of fun designing outfits for Barbie; the problem was, you were really limited. Like, you couldn't have a Barbie wear certain shirts (like bikini tops) and certain pants at the same time. Or you if you had a certain scarf, it would limit the other accessories you could have. But that was easy to overlook. My other complaints were that the patterns were kind of silly looking (flowers were okay, bows and hearts were kind of weird), and you didn't get very many colors to work with. Also, the only Barbie available was a blond. But I really enjoyed playing it and printing out magazine covers, until one fateful day when the CD malfunctioned and hasn't worked since (and I even have a brand new computer, so ... oh well. Rest in peace.) Oh yes, and you can print the outfits on special paper and make actual clothes for your Barbie. But they look really unrealistic. It would be like a real person dressing in a gunny sack and calling it fashionable. But hey -- if you have a Barbie fanatic in your life, consider this CD-rom for hours of fashion fun. :)

4-0 out of 5 stars Sorta Cool...
This is great when you first get it! Design a variety of barbie outfits for any occasion and watch her model it. Then print out a magazine cover or the outfit for you to make. Sounds cool right? But there are some hidden downsides...Number one, the outfits don't stay together too well! Number two, the outfits get repetitive and boring and there aren't enough pattern or color choices. Also, some new barbies would be nice! I'd try Cool Looks before this one! Oh yeah and for some reason there is a saving problem when you save your designs...Still if you wanna try a new angle on Barbie games try this one or Cool Looks to create cool Barbie clothes, until you get sick of the game! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars JUST SWIMMING!
Neat pets with a little fuss and no mess. You also do not have to be a computer game addict for you to be successful. This program makes a perfect fun program to add to your enjoyment of using your computer.

For the small price, you get hours and hours of entertainment. I kept my second fish tank going for over two years with only a few days of panic of what to do. Because of not reading the instructions in full before starting, on my first tank, I did not realize the setting on the tank was at a default of one hour which was equal to one day. By the time I checked hours later that night all my fish in that tank were dead! I was sick! Be careful at first.

I caught on quickly on how to build tanks, and putting different fish together. I rarely had sick fish, but I learned to cure their sicknesses. And I was thrilled in my original Aquazone program to find a surprise happening. You might too! I truly grieved my deceased fish, and became attached for those alive. This was a program which I did not so much think of as a game but, and interactive screen saver. These were my pet fish. I even had friends asking how my fish were doing.

When not using my computer I leave the tank on. The sound is relaxing, and the colors are beautiful. And I swear the fish at times know you are watching and do little movements to entertain.

The Aquazone web site offers additions to your tank. And searching the Internet will give you sites devoted to people who have made using Aquazone a fine science. What you could do with this program if you wanted to devote that much time is just amazing!

I would recommend this program to anyone but especially those who are not true game players, and to those who would like to have use of a successful, and user friendly program. I have had many real fish tanks, and have breed a few types of fish. I have also visited and purchased large quantities of fish for local pet stores. I found this program easy to use, colorful, very life like, and still very entertaining.

If you have never had real fish, this is a perfect way to get the feel and look of the real thing.

4-0 out of 5 stars Alittle Disappointed
I am diabled and virtually a shut in, so this game was perfect for me as it takes time and knowledge to keep the fish alive and breeding. I was really enjoying these aquariums! But when I decided that I wanted to add fish, plants, medications, backgrounds, etc., I went to www.aquazone.com (which is where these items are obtained). I ordered $70 worth of items then was unable to download and unzip them. The unzipping prosess is very complex, and I never received my items. Furthermore,my money was not refunded. Beware - this game is very fun but can become very costly.

5-0 out of 5 stars Aquazone Deluxe II with Guppies
This is one of the best games I have ever purchased. It was a bit hard at first...trying to learn how to care for my fish, and it is time consuming (you can set your aquarium speed to 0 if you need a break), but definitely well worth owning. Many people are disappointed with the program because the fish can die...and supposedly they can't be gotten back. This isn't true, however. When I first got the program LOTS of my fish died, and I figured out how to get them back. One of the best features is the Accessory Maker. I love creating my own accessories. It gives my tanks a personal touch. Thanks for reading my review, and have fun raising many generations of fish!

5-0 out of 5 stars Compulsive Breeding!
I never expected a game to be this time-consuming, but the feeding and breeding demands of virtual fish can actually keep you glued to your monitor screen till the early hours of the morning. (-A warning to anyone trying to write serious dissertations and stuff!) You can get really uptight about the odd fish "dying", and over the moon when neon tetras actually manage to breed. My only serious criticism is the failure of distributors to provide the much advertised "Guppies Add-0n pack" and the promised Goldfish version. How much longer must we wait?

2-0 out of 5 stars high hopes go belly up
I bought this game with the idea that it would be just a regalur fishtank on the computer.I love sim games so I was very excited to aquire this.At first it was great, I had some beautiful fish and they were living nicley I read the care guides and fed them at the right times but by the third day some of them became sick.I tried to care for them approprietly but they all died in about two hours. I was sad and unhappy naturally, so I went to get more fish and there werent as many fish as befor and eventually I used up all the fish.So I was confused why I didnt get anymore fish so I uninstalled the game and reinstalled it so I had all my fish back. Then I was looking through the box and found a paper that had the website address on it. I went to the site and found out after all your fish die you are supposed to buy more fish at inflated prices.I just returned the game for my money back. You see the game is just the initial price, it will cost you a lot more in the long run. Thanks for reading my review!!!!!!!!!!!! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

What a relief to find a software program for girls that inspires botheducational and emotional development. Based on the scholastic book andtelevision series of the same name, Dear America: Friend to Friendintroduces role models for young women that teach history, social studies, andcreative expression. Through diary pages, follow-up questions, and messagesdirect from each of six new friends, girls are encouraged in their ownself-expression and introspection.

The program begins with a personal feel: each player is required to log on witha name and password, suggesting secrets to share. Choosing which character tovisit first is hard--each is well developed and true to both her time andenvironment. From Hattie Campbell (who endured the Oregon Trail in 1848) toClotee (a conductor of the Underground Railroad), Dear America shares theexperiences of both historical joys and hardships through the personalities ofeach character.

The program's breadth of activities is its most appealing quality. Players canspeak with every character--gaining both friendship and historicalknowledge--and modify the direction of each story. Secret Self activities provide outletsfor personal development and discovery through personality quizzes and otherintellectual challenges. Additional features include musical selections fromeach time period, a private journal, and a search for historical collectibles.(Ages 8 to 12) --Madeleine J. Miller ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Historical Background's in Fictional Settings
My daughter is 10 years old and is completely enamoured with the Dear America series. She not only wants to read every book available, she also plays the Friend to Friend CD every day! It enhances her knowledge of history and keeps her reading.
Hi,
...

4-0 out of 5 stars The Dear America CDrom
This game is really fun. You get to read the diaries of 6 girls: Margaret Ann Brady, Remember Patience Whipple,Abigail Jane Stewart, Hattie Campbell, Zipporah Feldman and Clotee, You can give them advice: Maybe even change their lives! You can look for their belongings to learn the history of each, You can keep a password-locked diary AND you can take cool quizes. I do reccomend this CD!

1-0 out of 5 stars You'll want your money back after you play it.
The game is okay, because you get to interact with Dear America characters. But After you interact with the girls, the story is finished. And after I interacted with all 6 girls, the game didn't have much left to do. All you could do was do some quizzes (which repeat themselves until you've played every single quiz) and a diary that you could write in.

This game was not worth [the price] .. It should have been [less].

4-0 out of 5 stars 2 Thumbs up!
My 11 year old daughter says this was her absolute favorite Christmas gift. She has been glued to the computer since we installed it. The graphics are great. The characters are interesting. Very educational. My daughter really enjoys the interaction with the characters. The only reason I didn't rate this a 5 star program is that I believe that the products ability to remain interesting is limited. In other words, after my daughter has read all of the characters, interacted with them, etc, that's it. Overall, I still consider this as an awesome piece of software for girls. Buy it!

3-0 out of 5 stars It's Fun But It Isn't Long Lasting
It is extreamly fun at first, because the software takes you deeper into the lives of the Dear America girls, but after you read all there is to read about them, it is finished. But you can still keep a diary with the sofware. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very fun and cute!
I recently bought this game abd Dogz on eBay. I think Catz is a lot more fun than dogz! There are five breeds to choose from(siamaese, persion, calico, etc.) You can pet your catz, you can give them a bottle, give them food and water, treays, and give them all kinds of toys to play with. There is even a mouse and you can ise the sheese to lure it out of its hole so your cat can shase it and even catch it(the mouse gets away though)! You can paint your catz many colors including browns, black, yellow, pink, blue, orange, gray, red, white, etc. You can even paint the mouse! VERY fin for ALL AGES! I am 13 and LOVE the game!

3-0 out of 5 stars Catz, Your computer petz.
I have Catz1 (I know, its old compared to Catz 4 or whatever) and its pretty good -- for a while. You just feed 'em, play with 'em, and all that, and you can watch 'em on an included screen saver, nothing happens except it gets a little bigger in the program. I don't know how to teach it tricks its not like a real cat or whatever.

Anyway, its fun when you first start... ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Some of it's good, some of it's bad...
OK, it's a fun way for my young kids to learn the basics of typing - splatting bugs by pressing the right keys is pretty fun. The price was unbeatable.

The down side: It teaches only basics - letters and numbers. No shifted keys. No ten-key. It also runs only with the CD in the drive. It is also very difficult to install on Win2000/WinXP - you have to create a shortcut on your desktop for the setup.exe program on the CD, change the shortcut's compatibilty mode to Win95, then install the thing. Yeesh. BTW, don't accidentally hit (or rest your wrist on) the Windows key while you're typing; it royally messes up the color palette - to the point of having to quit and start over.

It got my kids started with typing in a fun way, but it was a bit of a pain to get it working. You win some, you lose some. This was a draw.

4-0 out of 5 stars DK cd-Roms are superior
One of my tasks as a parent is to try to instill the type of curiosity in my children that will never be slaked. History, with its awful text books and unavoidable complexity, is one of the toughest subjects for the young. This cd-Rom offers a wonderful way for a child to begin what could become a life-long love: in it, they are able to travel to 8 periods of history, with worlds that they can explore in a way of their choosing. While there is some reading and narration, most of the presentation here is visual and visceral, i.e. you click on things and do them. I think this is fabulous - a picture is worth 1000 words in this case.

Of course, the worlds presented here are quite simple, one scene for each period if I am not mistaken. My daughter at 6 ran through it and doesn't often go back, though occasionally she does. Nonetheless, it has wonderfully supplemented what she does in school and the reading in history that I attempt with her. Of course, we are helped by the fact that we live in Italy, so she literally can walk to Roman and even Etruscan ruins.

Warmly recommmended. An excellent supplement and a good start.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun and entertaining with eduacation thrown in
The History Explorer is a great way to slip a little learning into your child's play time. My 8-yr-old daughter sits and plays this CD for long periods of time, and comes away with new history facts each time. She tracks the Time Fugitive through historical settings and learns about each time period as she gathers clues. Sound and graphics are good and I am pleased she is not just wasting time with a mindless computer game, but actually having fun and learning at the same time. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Young children love going to parties, and with the help of thisinteractive CD-ROM, they can now go to a fun party with the likes of Goldilocks,Humpty Dumpty, and Little Bo Peep. Based onJanet and Allan Ahlberg's bestselling storybooks, The Jolly Postman'sParty is packed with games and activities to keep young children happilyentertained for hours.

Kids can create comical pictures of themselves and their friends, bake cakes byclicking on the right ingredients, or even test their memory in a challenge;when the lights go out in a room, players must remember where the objects were, and, when they come back on again, click on the ones that have moved from theiroriginal positions. One of the most entertaining of the included games ishelping the Jolly Postman burst balloons with his catapult so he can find theletters hidden inside.

Compared to other children's software, The Jolly Postman's Party is a bitdifficult to install, and some of the games are fairly complicated. But you canadjust the levels to make them easier, and there is plenty of technical supportavailable if you do get stuck. For anyone who has read and enjoyed the originalbooks--and plenty of young children have--this CD-ROM will definitely help bringthe stories back to life. --Justin Hunt ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Nothing to do!!
This CD Rom is very boring! There are only 3 things to do. You can play a trivia game ( it's very short ), look for Pokemon (It's too easy! It took me about three minutes.), and clicking on things. I even tried getting another Pokemon CD Rom but it wasn't any better. The only things different are that now you look you two Pokemon and you have a few more questions on your trivia game. Even with all the Pokemon CD Roms, I don't think it would be any more fun than with just one. Save your money and buy a better CD Rom. PS Sorry Pokemon fans but this game is a let down. Try looking under Pokemon figures, and Pokemon video games. They are much more fun to play with!

2-0 out of 5 stars Beware
I just bought this for my 4 and 6 year olds. They love Pokemon and I thought it would be great for them to explore and print out the characters. Even though the age is geared towards 1st-5th grade I thought there'd be enough to print and watch. Not so. Beware if your buying for young children you'll be disappointed. It also doesn't have a lot on it. It's quite limited.

3-0 out of 5 stars Beware! Only old-fashioned tray-type CD-ROM drives for this!
I bought about 7 of these cool new Pokemon CD-ROMs for my son, and after I got them, I discovered that they will not play in the newer, slot-type CD-ROM drives (i.e. an iMac). So, as long as you have the old, tray-style, you're all set. But we were pretty disappointed because we can't play them on the computer with the best graphics.

1-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't install on Windows XP
My 8 yr. old son received Pikachu PokeROM for a gift, and we were unable to install it. When it prompted us for the location of the Pokemon Sanctuary files, it complained that there wasn't enough disk space (our system has 20 GB free). He is very disappointed and it is too bad that Mattel did such a terrible job testing this product.

5-0 out of 5 stars A world never seen before!
As I first explored the Pokerom, I thought WOW! This is the best in the world! It's awesome. A pokemon sanctuary too!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Pokerom
My son received a pokerom as a gift for his 6th birthday. Every time he tries to enter the Pokemon Sanctury, we get a message on our computer that there is an error on the disc and the program shuts down. The message also states that if the problems persists that the vendor of the program should be contacted. There is a phone number on the package, however, it is not a toll free number. I do not believe that I should have to pay long distance charges to discuss problems on such a small program.

I have been trying to locate customer service on-line but I have been unsuccessful.

This has been very disappointing for my child who is a very avid Pokemon fan.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed. Lacks variety and enjoyment
My son, far too young at 4 loves pokemon. This has disappointed all of us because It is far too difficult to even facillitate guesses. The levels are very difficult and lack fun. Its too bad it isnt more animated. Normally, children of all ages can at least guess at these answers. But there is no room for mistakes. Im sorry that I bought two of these.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pikachu PokeRom
The various PokeRoms (Pikachu is my son's favorite) are a wonderful way to combine a child's interest in the Pokemon phenomenon with a simple introduction for a child to the use of a computer. It is a wonderful way to play with your child, while at the same time helping the child become interested in a learning game. The most fun part, however, is simply the process of collecting the many Pokemon characters in PokeRom form and adding them to the Pokemon sanctuary. The program is very simple and easy for a child to use. While I agree that it would be an excellent idea to change the questions with each new PokeRom, I still give this product the highest rating for any parent who wants to share the fun of "Pokemon" with their child in a creative computer environment. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Seventeen Style Studio
I bought this for my 9 year old and she was able to use it without any difficulties. Very easy to use. The only complaint I have is that we kept having to load her original picture into the program every time she wanted to do a new style on her face, which is not hard to do, but it gets annoying. There was no way to save the original picture in the program. Other than that, it is a great. User friendly, and a lot of fun. Highly recommend.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Fun for kids and Adults
This is a great program. This is a fabulous product and all features work buy one: be WARNED.. you can NOT export an image you've created IF you have MAC OS9 on your system. You can still print the image, just can't make it a jpeg or gif file to manipulate. I have contacted Macsoft (they verified that it doesn't work with OS9) and HOPEFULLY they will do as promised and look into making a patch for this export feature. Otherwise, it is a great product and I would recommend it.
