THIS IS FUN
I was struck dumb with awe when i friend showed me this game. IT is the koolest game i have ever played on the computer. You are a hero who tries to defeat the ultimate evil Diablo. You can choose from 7 classes in the expainsion. Assisain, druid, amazon, barbarian, padilin, and my fav sorceress. When you first start out u have no armor and weak weapons but when u kill monsters you will gain exp and sometimes they drop weapons or armor. This is a 3rd person game and its real time. The animations are wonderful and the cutseens are really well done. The cap lv is 99 and when u lv up u can choose to up str or def or something else. You can also get speical attacks or magic. Like leap attack if ur a barbarin or something like nova which is an attack that realeses energy and goes out of u in the form of a cricle. This is the best game i have played in a long time i it has a high replay rating since u can play online and theres so many iteams to collect. The secret cow lv is really fun and funny. I hope u enjoy this as much as i did

Firing up Diablo II takes me back to my early days of D&D. I recently recevied the game from my cousin who has been a hardcore Diablo fan since Day One.

The Battle Chest is a great value. Although I've been slashing my way through D2, I just found out that a friend plays D1 online at BattleNet. Lucky for me, and others who've discovered the Battle Chest, I've got both games.

As many others have pointed out, the interface is rather intuitive. I've played D2 online for the most part. Starting out is a real challenge. If you're killed with no backup weapons back in town, you need to trudge out and reclaim your posessions barehanded. And the fiends who inhabit the Diablo landscape aren't going to make it easy for you.

As characters develop, they really do take on their own personality. As you "level up" you decide where skill points will be distributed. Will you focus on lightning skills, or become the master of two handed axe wielding ? Its up to you. Lots of todays teens will easily get drawn into the adventuring, to be sure. But for for the old-school adventurers who yearn to dig out their 20-sided die one more time, give Diablo a whirl.

Lost in transit
I loaned this game to a friend before summer of '03 when his brother loaned it out to someone who left the state. He is just now recieving my game after it was ordered around January and is going to give it to me tommorrow (May 18 2004). This was a wait of 5 months to recieve this product. but having played it before I am very pleased with this game. I find such a wait worth it.

I cant even estimate how many hours Ive spent playing this game on Battle.net over the last few years. It is just that good.

Logging onto Bnet and playing this game with tens of thousands of people, 4 years after its release, shows you just how great the game is. If any game can put up these numbers years after its release then its got to be doing something right.

Excellent software for children learning the alphabet
This software is excellent. My four year old would spend hours working with it if I let her. It is most imaginative and clever.

Alphabet Express is fun!
My son who is just over two got this for Christmas and he loves it. There are so many different activities in it that he can be occupied for 20-30 minutes - amazing for a 2-year-old boy. His favorite thing is to "paint" the different pictures. They are so detailed and well animated and there are lots of colors - not just the typical 4 or 5 in some programs. He's not quite ready for some of the more advanced activities that ask you to match letters with pictures of objects that start with that letter. But this just means he'll have plenty to grow into. Jumpstart Advanced toddler
We bought this as a Christmas present for our son that just turned 2. We were looking for an educational computer game for him and we already had Reader Rabbit Toddler (which he loves). When I first started Jumpstart Adv. Toddler I thought it was way too simple, then I discovered that most activities have 2 levels. Level 1 is pretty basic and doesn't require the kids to do a whole lot...my son was very bored with this. Level 2 is much better...in fact it is more advanced than Reader Rabbit. Most of the activities do not require toddlers to click on the mouse, but if you can click it goes faster. I was surprised by how fast my son figured out the activities. He can do most everything by himself, but he still needs me to help him navigate some. This package comes with 3 cd's - school time, song time and art time. THe song time cd has several fun songs that he just loves. Overall I really like this game and have found it to be very educational. As soon as my son has mastered clicking the mouse we will be getting the preschool version.

JumpStart Spanish a winner
My 5 year old loves her new JumpStart Spanish program. She has learned to count in spanish and her colors so far. Very fun games and rewards. She is really picking things up fast. We have not had any real computer problems, it has locked up once, but that has happened on other software as well. The sound works well. For the price I would recommend this as a beginning spanish program.

My daughter simply loves it!!!!
My 2 year old loves this set of CDs. I found that it reinforces all the things we are teaching her.... shapes, colors, numbers the ABC. The duck that sings is very sweet to their ear. I found it sooo great I am buying it for my daughter's school so the other kids can benefit as well.

Jump Start 4TH GRADE ADVANCED
I rented this software from the Library. It is a 3 disc program. My 3rd grader (almost 4th grader) loves the Ultimate Field Trips and Mystery Club volume 3. The fundamentals disc is a little too hard for her right now, so it is challenging. I played it because it looked fun and it was fun for me to play. I love the "mystery" tone of the software. I like these programs because there are fun games that do not get boring, and while your kids are playing the games, they are also learning a lot. I am going to purchase this software and the 3rd grade ADVANCED program so my child can review through the summer. ... Read more

I Spy will keep you busy for hours
I was looking for a non-violent computer game for my grandsons. I found this one and decided to check it out before I released it to them. I played, and played, and played. I really liked it.

fun without violence
My 5 year old daughter plays this game again and again. I love that it is difficult enough to challenge her to think outside of the box. (Seeing the three on dice verses written out.)She is learning without having to play the usual educational games that are childish or annoying. This is also a game for me to play with her that doesn't require me to master a sword.

fun for all ages
I have bought more than 30 computer games for my 4 1/2 year old son over the last 3 years. I have to say that this one has the best graphics of all the games I have seen so far. My son has been into I Spy books ever since he was barely one year old (the board book version at first). I was afraid that this game might not live up to his expectations. However, it was that and much more. I get bored watching him play his other computer games sometimes, but I can actively participate in this one. I even installed it in my computer at the office so that I can play it when there is a lull at work. Excellent in terms of building their vocabulary as well.

Good, clean fun for all ages!
An excellent compromise between my son (age 7) and me. He sees it as a fun computer game, I see it as a rated-G brain-squeezing activity that we can do together. It's a great way to spend some time with your kids, doing something you'll both enjoy.

This fantastic program will have your brain working as hard as a mandrill on a conveyer belt with bananas dangling in front of it. Don't worry, we'll explain. The Incredible Machine: Even More Contraptions gives players dozens of tools that perform an action: balls that bounce, cats that chase (and don't bounce), pulleys, ropes, generators, and yes, mandrill baboons on conveyer belts, bananas a-dangle in front of them. Then players are given a problem to solve with all of this crazy energy. Here's an example: in one puzzle called "Wood is Good," players must get three balls into a box, make wooden toast, and wood-smoke a hunk of gouda cheese for a mouse. Among the tools available to accomplish this task are a bike pump and an antigravity pad. And this is one of the easy puzzles.

There are 250 gizmos to build here, some designed for single players and some designed for head-to-head puzzling competition. There is also a field where players can design their own Rube Goldberg Machine from scratch. The vast amount of projects and their complexity make this a program with staying power. Mercifully, there is a tutorial that takes rookies and right-brainers in hand. Players can choose four levels of difficulty: easy, which is quite challenging; to expert, which is insane. Mitigating the challenge factor is a function that turns the cursor into a question mark, and allows players to inspect gadget elements and get in-depth information about what each object and surface does.

This game does a great job graphically. The well-rendered objects all perform as they ought, and form never hinders function. A thoughtful extra is a place where mad scientists can mess with their invention's appearance and background music: nice final touches for folks who want to take their custom-built games online to challenge others who are addicted to The Incredible Machine. This program's biggest strength is that it manages to put a humorous and creative spin on physics and engineering. They're not just giving you levers and weights to work with, they're giving you bottle rockets and alligators. A final wonderful point: there is no "right way" to build your contraption. If you scrabble something together that achieves the goal, it's right, no matter if you used the antigravity pad on the cat or on the bowling ball. I love it! It's a great thinking game!
This game is soooooooo 3D!
You won't find silly cartoons stick poeple etc in this game!
I love making my own contraptions and letting my mom play!
If you want your kid to now a lot about physics then this is a great game!
It has a lot of new stuff like a monkey and a jack in the box.
It keeps all the old contraptions the same so don't worry about losing contraptions in the old game that you liked.
The gears are made easyer so you don't need to take them out then put them back to get them working unlike in the first game.
It is very compatiple with most computers I heard it works on Mac and I had a Windows me wich it worked on and now I have a XP and it works even better on that.
This game is not like most games that you complete in weeks, months, days, or even one day this game takes years!
But it's not too hard so you won't need to wory about not beeing able to complete one contraption.
The tutorial level is to get started and to learn the basics.
The easy level is to get you to understand the controls and to get your brain runing and any other stuff it also gets you better at reading the real hints and knowing those things that might trick you like extra parts.
This game is a great buy!
But there is some things like harming animals but what I do is say thay are just robots.

5 Year Old Loves it!
We got this game for my five year old son thinking it would be a great game to do together. That is an understatement! He is actually spending hours doing and completing contraptions on his own and is up to the harder levels. Definitely not a game for the mechanically uninclined but not as difficult as a previous review stated. My son is actually helping ME complete them. Tons of fun and learning!

Great program and runs on Mac!
It's a very fun game for kids or adults. It allows you to build Rube Goldberg-like contraptions on your computer, and then watch them in action. You can also "solve" existing (partially built) contraptions by figuring out what pieces to put where to make it accomplish a specified goal. And you can build contraptions for other people to solve. Very cool!

There's little to criticize about it. The directions aren't as clear as they could be (typical: they describe how to do things instead of *showing* you) but you'll catch on quickly, since its very simple, and anyone who has used a computer will understand their cartoon-like interface (take normal computer widgets and make them big and cartoon-like and colorful: take a look at the screen shots to see what I mean). So if you have very young kids who haven't used the computer before, you might want to play it and let them watch: they'll catch on quickly. My first kid is still 4 weeks away, but I still can't wait to play this with him: we'll both enjoy it.

Another criticism is that you have a very small space in which to build the contraptions, so they can't be as big as your screen (unless I just didn't find this option). That is annoying and limiting, but it's still lots of fun.

The level of reality is cartoon-like, fitting the Rube Goldberg theme (many of Rube's contraptions wouldn't actually work because everything wouldn't fall perfectly into place) but that's good, of course.

Save your money
This game is very difficult (even the easy level.) It has a lot of bugs. Clicking Help on the main screen freezes my computer. The objects are difficult to manipulate when they overlap anything. Everything has to be in perfect alignment for the puzzle to be solved, which is very difficult to do. I am returning it to Sierra for a refund.

Instead of two similarly powered enemies facing off, the three distinct races in StarCraft have unique capabilities and strategies. Everyone still competes in the RTS genre's typical race for resources, but that's the only shared trait. Terrans can move their bulky mechanized bases as necessary, while the reptilian Zerg grow their colonies and warriors from mutating larvae. Still a great game
I took a several year break from computer gaming until I recently bought myself a PowerBook. With my new machine I decided to try out StarCraft because the Battlechest was cheap. Even years after it's release, StarCraft is still a great game. The three races (Terrans, Protoss, and Zerg) have such different play styles it's like having three games in one. The storyline does a great job of keeping the gameplay fresh; otherwise, it would be another game of "build up your forces and rush your opponent."

I recommend the Battlechest for another reason: the two hint books that come with the bundle. If you're in school, you may have time to burn playing the scenarios two or three times until you get it right, but I have to hold down a full time job. I usually play until I've figured out the gimmick for each scenario, then I check the hint book because I can't waste a lot of time getting to the next mission (I told you the storyline was good). This goes doubly for any married StarCraft player: unless you're spending quality time with your kids playing this game, you'll jeopardize your marraige by spending hours in front of the computer trying to finish this game. The hint books make it possible to have some fun and still get on with life.

Get the Battlechest: you won't be disappointed.

all your needs in one box
The battle chest is a great way to get both Starcraft and it's expansion BroodWar, together the make one of the best combat / strategy games. If you don't own Starcraft buy the battle chest and get all the extras. They will help you enjoy the game fully. If you already own Starcraft unless you really want the two strategy guides just buy the expansion pack Broodwar instead. Starcraft really needs to be played with the expansion; it adds more depth to both the game and tactics with new missions and new units. The basic game play is pretty easy to pick up and if you play the single player missions in order you'll quickly learn the strengths and weaknesses of each troop type. Then the fun really begins when you battle against real opponents across the Internet. After you have played the single player missions you'll have your favorite race either Terran, Protos or Zerg. You'll come up with your own tactics on how to deal with your opponents There is a huge on-line community out there defending the 'Honor' of each respective race. Buy the game and come play. This game came out back in 1998 and it is still being played now. Few games can say they have that lasting appeal. The battle Chest is 100% value for money

Great Game!
I borrowed Starcraft from a friend and after a few hours of playing knew that I had to get it. So, I went out and bought the Battle Chest. This comes with both Starcraft and the Starcraft: Brood War expansion pack, plus guides for each game and a technology tree map (shows which buildings are needed in order to build more advanced buildings). This is the perfect way to get started playing Starcraft. The game itself is excellent. My friends and I have spent many hours playing and plan on playing it for many years to come. Blizzard hit it right on the head with this game. If you don't have it get it right now. This truly is the standard to which all real-time strategy games are compared to.

This game is great, and cheap! When u buy this u will be getting the original Starcraft, The expansion Starcraft Broodwar, and both stratigy guides. The stratigy guides show how to play the game and each charictor and how to use them. I have been playing this game for about 2 yrs and I still love it. Blizzard has made the BEST selection of games I have ever played. If u get this and like it you might want to look into buying any of these great games Diablo Battle Chest, Diablo, Diablo2, Diablo2 The expansion, Warcraft Battle Chest, Warcraft, Warcraft2, Warcraft3, and Frozen Throne, Starcraft Ghosts.

Another thing to add..
Everything about this game has generally been summed up in the other reviews, yes, this is a TRULY AMAZING game even since it came out. It is still one of the most popular strategy games for the PC and you shouldn't worry too much about finding another multiplayer opponent.

About the campaigns: When first purchasing this game it might be instinct to go ahead and install Brood War right away and start playing it, but it is CRUCIAL that you do NOT play the Brood War campaigns until you finish the original game. Why?

1.) It will spoil some of the storyline from the first game.
2.) You will get your butt whooped.

JumpStart Spanish a winner
My 5 year old loves her new JumpStart Spanish program. She has learned to count in spanish and her colors so far. Very fun games and rewards. She is really picking things up fast. We have not had any real computer problems, it has locked up once, but that has happened on other software as well. The sound works well. For the price I would recommend this as a beginning spanish program.

My daughter simply loves it!!!!
My 2 year old loves this set of CDs. I found that it reinforces all the things we are teaching her.... shapes, colors, numbers the ABC. The duck that sings is very sweet to their ear. I found it sooo great I am buying it for my daughter's school so the other kids can benefit as well.

Jump Start 4TH GRADE ADVANCED
I rented this software from the Library. It is a 3 disc program. My 3rd grader (almost 4th grader) loves the Ultimate Field Trips and Mystery Club volume 3. The fundamentals disc is a little too hard for her right now, so it is challenging. I played it because it looked fun and it was fun for me to play. I love the "mystery" tone of the software. I like these programs because there are fun games that do not get boring, and while your kids are playing the games, they are also learning a lot. Great Buy!
As you have probably read, the Sims is one of the best games ever made! When I saw this pop up as I was ordering Hot Date, my heart jumped. Bad for me, lucky for you- I've spent almost 100 bucks on all of these games buying them separately. This is a bargain! Of course, the Sims is so much more fun with these expansions. It just stinks that this wasn't out yet when I purchased the Sims 5 months ago... :-)

Medal of Honor spanker!
1. I love first person shooters...
2. The setting takes place when our country entered into war for more credible reasons (we were still the "good guys")... takes less toll on the slightly more "consciencious" players/potential buyers.
3. The single player in this title is definitely better than Medal of Honor's single player- and don't get me wrong, Medal of Honor was/is a really good game- Call of Duty just happens to be a really nice leap foward!
4. Multiplayer in Call of Duty is rock solid and hella fun (cable modem connect)!

Here's my system specs: MDD G4/1GHz/1GB RAM/OS X 10.3.4/Radeon 9800 Pro (I can play Unreal Tournament 2004 at 1600x1200 SMOOTHLY on this card!) Hint: This game is a lot more payable if you disable FSAA in the INI file if you've a less powerful card... this option isn't directly editable in the main game [interface's] setup.

Better than MOHAA!
I absolutly love CoD!!! It kicks MOHAA's ass in SP and esspecialy MP! The only complaint I have is that the single player campaign, to me at least, seemed rather short, but the amazing MP aspect easily makes up for this.

Jumpstart Advanced toddler
We bought this as a Christmas present for our son that just turned 2. We were looking for an educational computer game for him and we already had Reader Rabbit Toddler (which he loves). When I first started Jumpstart Adv. Toddler I thought it was way too simple, then I discovered that most activities have 2 levels. Level 1 is pretty basic and doesn't require the kids to do a whole lot...my son was very bored with this. Level 2 is much better...in fact it is more advanced than Reader Rabbit. Most of the activities do not require toddlers to click on the mouse, but if you can click it goes faster. I was surprised by how fast my son figured out the activities. He can do most everything by himself, but he still needs me to help him navigate some. This package comes with 3 cd's - school time, song time and art time. THe song time cd has several fun songs that he just loves. Overall I really like this game and have found it to be very educational. As soon as my son has mastered clicking the mouse we will be getting the preschool version.

My Little Artists
Magic Artist Studio was purchased for a graduating kindergartener. And, she absolutely adores this program! Most computer programs only keep her attention for a little while, but this creative outlet keeps her imagination and creativity flowing. She "dances" in her chair while listening to the music and making "masterpieces". Goofy and Donald Duck stamps make her giggle. Even her older brother (9) and baby sister (2) enjoy the program. I couldn't resist trying it out one day, and found it to be above quality compared to regular paint programs. I would reccommend this program for any child interested in art and computers.

I'm an artist!
And I can't even draw a straight line! Now both my 3 year old and I are drawing cartoons to music! This program has it all. There are tons of typical drawing tools yet each one has a myriad of options and surprises that allow for endless hours of fun with your own imagination. There is a section with instructions for making simple animations plus the ability to make your own (very primitive animations, though.) There are also 15 seperate scenes which you can cut and paste to your hearts delight to create real Disney characters dancing around to music. Then you can take those scenes and change them in numerous ways to suit you using the drawing tools. You can save, create a slide show and even put your own picture into whatever you are creating. This is truly a great game for the whole family!

Excellent, but not for XP!!!
This was one of my childrens' favorites computer programs, until we upgraded to an computer with Windows XP. The install warned that it was designed for 95 (which means it would work on 98), and it might not work on our new system. And it didn't!

The description above lists the platforms with which it is compatible (proper leaving off XP), but I thought I would mention it since so many have XP now and not everyone thinks to check this point.

Be Creative
This game was really fun to play. It lets you use tons of fun things like bugs, sparkles, spray paint, chalk and even popcorn to your master pieces! I loved it's drawing lessons by the pro's. I have never seen a creative game let you add sound and movement to a work of art! I even made coloring sheets for when I babysit! I loved it and you shuld too!

Just Amazing
As a HUGE ut2k zealot, I have always loved the games. With the latest installment, they one-up the previous with the amazing vehicles. The new arenas are pure joy,, and the mods make it worth every penny.

This game Destroys Halo Online
Okay the only FPS that can compare to UT 2004 is Halo. Heres how UT 2004 stacks up: Halo takes the single player catagory barley because in halo theres an actual story line UT is more just levels in a tourney. Halo takes a less powerful computer to run but if u want halo in all its glory u should probabley use a 1ghz processer same for UT 2004. The graphics are pretty much equal. The guns and vehicles are better in UT and there are more guns and vehicles. UT destroys Halo online, UT has better games u can play,more of them,less lag,more players per game. I vote UT over Halo. Also even though UT requires a better sustem i found that UT ran better on my eMac G4 1.25 GHZ 1 mb of RAM 140 GB and a ATI Radeon 9200

It's a DVD
Unreal has always been my favorite of all the 1st person frag fests. This game has everything that was good about about the previous games like the pumped up announcer and varied weapons each with 2 different modes. And it adds on even more incredible features like vehical combat, adrenaline combos, an a really fun basketball type game. It plays great with all features turned on with a Radeon 9800 - the best card available on Macs.

Also, unlike the PC version which is like 6 CD-ROM's, this is a single DVD. It makes for a very convenient install and storage.

very very fun to frag- compliments of UT2k4!
It took this game to pull me off of Halo multiplayer! Sure it looks better than Halo (on my setup), but, to my surprise, it looks and plays better than UT2003 as well. Its obvious that all of the original maps were redone for 2k4- especially my old UT fav- Facing Worlds... shweeet (I believe it's called CTF-FaceWorlds Classic)! Really, when I first joined a game with this map I spent the first moments looking around like a tourist in Times Square for the first time- sometimes you guys look too easy to rob! lol Actually, it's not funny, I've seen tourists get mugged for not paying attention.

Anyway. My setup is a single CPU FW800 MDD 1GHz G4/1GB RAM/OS X.3.3/Radeon9000Pro OEM/64MB VRAM (yes, I'm one of the few buyers of this model) and I must admit that this game performs quite admirably on this system. I'm running at 800x600@32bit color/textures and all other options turned on and set to Normal (textures/details, etc.- except for Coronas that, although they look nice, they ultimately obstruct one's view when encountered). Don't underestimate the Normal settings, either, this game is beautiful at these settings! I find this a perfect balance of performance and real time graphical beauty although we all love to play at as high a resolution as possible- I'll readdress this after I get my tax refund because I KNOW I'm going to get an ATi Radeon9800- even though I shouldn't (Amazon should sell these...).

One of the only caveats I have is questioning the option of enabling dynamic net speeds. For awhile I thought my firewall (I use Firewalk X if anyone cares to know) was slowing things down and pressing F1 (which reports scores, info, pings, etc.) would show that I'd a disgustingly high ping- deselecting 'dynamic netspeed' dropped me back down to my regular cable modem pings. I can only imagine that this would only benefit modem users (if it's intended for that so be it- we don't need no steenkin manual!), aka "HPBs" from the QuakeIII days. Another small caveat would be that the game requires the game disc be in the drive- no biggie, we all have to get used to this one.

Although I happily accept the inclusion and heavy utilization of vehicles I kind of wish Epic had borrowed from Bungie as far as their control- but I'm sure its just something we have to accustom ourselves, to- especially as this setup is more useful (again, AFAIK) with using the gun turrets which are on most vehicles.

I also adore the novel idea of getting $10 for buying this if you already own UT2003 (if it's not novel in the game software world please feel free to correct me)- and it's a really good price even if you're just buying into Unreal Tournament, AFAIK.

Great game with a few tech problems.
Oh, how I was hyped for this game. I waited and waited for it. I couldn't wait to rip open the package and pop it in my iMac. And you know what? (Now at this point, I'm sure you're expecting me to say "Well it sucked" or something like that. Not quite.) UT2k4 lives up to the hype!

This game is fast online FPS fun at its finest! Not only do you get all the UT2k3 maps, you get the official bonus maps and 45+ plus new maps as well! Naturally, servers only put a few in rotation, but you'll still find a great variety. Even better, if you enter a server using a new Windows-only official map, you download it automatically. In addition to new maps, you get all those great vehicles in Onslaught mod. If you liked the first two UT games, you'll freak over this one.

UT2k4 runs fairly well on my standard 17-inch iMac. Lag spurts are few and far between and occur mainly on overcrowded onsluaght maps. However, you'll definitely want to upgrade your RAM (or do whatever you need to for making your comp faster) if you're into Assault mode. Most Assault maps are completely unplayable, and the Single Player FMVs are a little jittery when played on "normal" settings.

Yeah... and then there are some negatives. Guess what? Whenever you try to use a microphone (built into iMac or plugged into G4/G5 port) the game freezes. Whoops! Macsoft screwed up big time. Hopefully, they'll release a patch. Hopefully. Until then, you have a keyboard. But what kept me from giving this exhilerating game a solid five stars is the fact that Macsoft neglected to tell first-time UT buyers (like me) that THE UNREAL EDITOR IS NOT INCLUDED IN THE MAC VERSION OF UT2K4!!! Got it? Well, I certainly didn't. I shouldn't have to do research to find out Macsoft didn't even attempt to put it in their port. C'mon Macsoft! At least give us an editing pack or something!

This is the first game I bought for my Power Book and I love it. After finding out the only game that comes on a Mac is Chess I decided I needed to get a real game. My brother sugested Neverwinter to me and so I got it. Since then I have hardly been able to set it down. A I play, I find that as I achive one goal all of a sudden a different chain of events happen. I knew there was a lot of playing time but I never imagened to get so much of my moneys worth out of it. That may be bothersome to some people but the box does say that it has 60+ hours of game time.Before I bought this game I was not familar with the rules of D&D, I don't think I quite still understand all of it. I find it rather relaxing to be able to leave my computer to fight with it's self. I have to admit that at sometimes I wish I could contol my character to be able to decapitate my averitary's head.

excellent engine for endless gameplay!
Overview: Don't think of NWN as a single game, but as an engine that allows you to play graphical role-playing games by yourself and with others. It's your way to access thousands of modules written by other NWN fans, each one a separate adventure. It's easy to find these modules online at the BioWare website. (You can download whatever style module pleases you -- from ones that emphasize roleplay to ones that are pure hack-and-slash.) It's also very easy to join multiplayer games online. (Mixed results with these. If you adventure with a standard group of people that you know, it feels like an intimate pen-and-paper role-playing session. If you join a random game and hang out with random people, it feels much more like a MU*.) The game ships with a single long campaign, which is well-written and enjoyable.

Of course, I'm just repeating what hundreds of PC players of the game have said -- go and read their reviews for that version of the game.

For Mac users: In my experience, NWN runs without a problem on an 800 MHz G4 iBook with 640 MB of RAM and 32MB of VRAM. It opened but ran unbearably slowly on a 500 MHz G3 iBook with 576 MB of RAM and 16MB of VRAM.

As is often the game, Mac gamers are treated as second-class citizens -- although it's not too bad in this case. Here are some specifics:

* We don't get the toolbox that allows us to write and customize modules, which is the biggest disappointment for me.

* The expansions (which are necessary for many of the downloaded modules) haven't been released for the Mac, and won't be anytime soon. [Edit, 7/5/2004: the expansions have now been released, finally! I'm leaving this part of the review in, because it illustrates how Mac users haven't been a top priority. Then I'm going to go order the expansions!]

* BioWare claims that MacSoft is responsible for providing support for the Mac version of NWN. MacSoft's attitude toward support is minimalist.

Bottom line: Five stars for the concept and the game. Minus one star for the Mac adaptation of it.

HUGE DISSAPOINTMENT
I Had never played a D&D computer game before...hell i had never even played D&Ds hell i hardley knew anything about it but this game really wasnt what i expected...maybe i was expecting more of D2 game

Do Not Bother - Worse Than Terrible
Do yourself a favor - play Diablo 2 instead of wasting your money on this absolutely worthless, frustrating, terrible game. Yes, it may be 3D, but the character control is show-stopper terrible - unplayable - especially in combat.

Also, regardless of how many people are playing together, there is only ONE main prize-weapon. This has two game-ruining effects - first, only ONE player in the team gets rewarded FOR THE ENTIRE QUEST!!!! Second, because everyone knows this, at the End-Main-Battle, no one is trying to defeat the boss, but rather are all fighting each other for the main prize weapon.

Stupid story, blah 3D graphics, show-stopping game quirks, horrible interface. Gaming does not get any worse than this - avoid at all costs!!!

Doesn't live up to it's billing......Yet
The game has received rave reviews and I bought it based on experience with Baldur's Gate I and and II. THe game is much to linear with the built in storyline. Not nearly as challenging as the prior games. A major problem is that it follows the newest Ad&D rules and they are just a little to wierd for someone who started with the first edition and only grudgingly moved to the 2nd ed. I quickly lost interest in the built in scenario and have not gone back to try out any custom games.

JumpStart Spanish a winner
My 5 year old loves her new JumpStart Spanish program. She has learned to count in spanish and her colors so far. Very fun games and rewards. She is really picking things up fast. We have not had any real computer problems, it has locked up once, but that has happened on other software as well. The sound works well. For the price I would recommend this as a beginning spanish program.

My daughter simply loves it!!!!
My 2 year old loves this set of CDs. I found that it reinforces all the things we are teaching her.... shapes, colors, numbers the ABC. The duck that sings is very sweet to their ear. I found it sooo great I am buying it for my daughter's school so the other kids can benefit as well.

Jump Start 4TH GRADE ADVANCED
I rented this software from the Library. It is a 3 disc program. My 3rd grader (almost 4th grader) loves the Ultimate Field Trips and Mystery Club volume 3. The fundamentals disc is a little too hard for her right now, so it is challenging. I played it because it looked fun and it was fun for me to play. I love the "mystery" tone of the software. I like these programs because there are fun games that do not get boring, and while your kids are playing the games, they are also learning a lot. I am going to purchase this software and the 3rd grade ADVANCED program so my child can review through the summer. ... Read more
