3-0 out of 5 stars good stuff for older macs
These games will probably not run on mac OS X, so buy them only if you are running OS 9
if you have an earlier OS, don't bother, your system will not be able to handle it.

if you meet these requirements, and you don't have any of these games, they are fun. Try it.

4-0 out of 5 stars List of games.
GraphSim's Ultimate Anthology includes a whopping 8 CD's! Included are full versions of Red Faction, F/A-18 Korea Gold, Baldur's Gate, and the Baldur's Gate Expansion: Tales of the Sword Coast. 1-0 out of 5 stars Warning- won't run on iBook G3
Don't buy this game if you expect to install it and run it on a G3 iBook. It freezes up on the first frame and goes no further. An unhappy Christmas gift experience to be avoided. Although it says "designed for OS X", I don't think anyone at the company has actually tried it on a new computer. My son's 4 month old iBook exceeds all the requirements, but it sure doesn't work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Demo rocks, but full game has been a long wait...
I've been playing the demo version of KSPS for mac on my 887mhz G4 powerbook 12" since it was released and am fully stoked. The gameplay tends to be smoother than the PS2 version and the graphics have more detail. I play with the PS2 Dual Shock controller plugged in via usb with an imported converter called the "PS-PC USB 2.0 Converter V," and it feels just like a console game.
Load times in the demo are fairly good, and as long as I don't turn on full anti-aliasing, the only lag during play is in the first second of the first wave.
If you are unfamiliar with the game: fans of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series will dig this water-based reincarnation. Surfers will surely enjoy this game, especially on flatter days... As for me (I also fit into the two above categories), this is one of the few video games that has next to no violence yet still sppeals to the above five crowd.
I've been waiting for this game since Aspyr said they were going to have it available in early June! A long wait, but well worth it. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!!
One word, INCREDIBLE!! Everything from the upbeat music, overview in the beginning, inviting teaching, and video clips in between points are great.
After purchasing my PDA in October 2001, I had very little understanding on how important this device could be to my everyday life. Many of the basic features and how to use them were unknown to me.
Since purchasing the PDA Power Training, not only have I learned how to use the features more effectively but I have also received an understanding on how to utilize this incredible tool in my everyday life, both professionally and personally.
Thank you Power By Hand for a training experience that is truly life-enriching.

3-0 out of 5 stars MacFonts 2
I am an amateur to the world of mac /computers in general, so with that being said... I have chosen, "Mac Fonts 2" for my first review!!! I found the installation to be a little confusing and very time consuming. I was hoping to be able to install all fonts at once, instead of clicking on each individual font. The good news however, is that the" Mac Fonts 2" has 1000 fonts to choose from and a great variety for whatever the occasion may be. The quick reference guide provided with this software indicates thatboth true type, and open type fonts are available; the open type format is designed to work cross platform on macs and pc's, however, you must have compatible software. I give this software a 3 for moose rating. ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

In Caillou: Magic Playhouse, kids help Caillou and friends discover hidden treasure in a fun-filled adventure! The play begins with Caillou's babysitter, as she creates a scavenger hunt in the house. Children choose from four exciting themes and then set out on an adventure through the house with Caillou, his cat, Gilbert, his sister, Rosie, and all his friends.

Kids search the house room by room, clicking on items to find the hidden treasure. As they succeed, kids can watch their treasure collection grow. Along the way, they'll find eight laugh-out-loud activities and challenging puzzles. And, for a change of pace, kids can print fun projects to take with them or even make snacks with Caillou.

Designed to build children's preschool and kindergarten skills, Caillou: Magic Playhouse matches a unique set of learning activities with each of the title's four themes. Throughout gameplay, children are encouraged to develop their early spelling and phonics abilities, along with counting, pattern recognition, and computer mouse skills. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Cailliou On Computer
Cailliou Magic Playhouse has its ups and downs. For starters, it has the features and cuteness of the cartoon on PBSkids but not reaching the point that other preschool games reach that keep them playing for hours.Ciallou has the game strategies that your young one needs but they outgrow it and get bored of it faster than your average preschool game. All in all,if you want a game on the preschool level, the Fisher Price (Petshop or Rescue Heros for example)are a better educational and imaginative choice. It meets the requirements kids need and kids even above their age range appriciate the games as well as within the range of 3-6 for the range printed on the box's sake.

1-0 out of 5 stars Only for children under 3
Caillou Magic Playhouse is very disappointing. The pictures are cute but the games are not challenging. This item says that it is for a 2-6 year old but all except one of the activities is for a child of 2 or younger. My daughter is 3 checked out all the games and except for a run of the mill advanced reading and math game could do all of the games on their hardest settings the first time. She immediately declared this game boring after the first and only time she played with it. Games like Freddie Fish, Madeline and many others she is still playing with after many months because they have challenges, which grow with the child's ability. For example the matching game in Caillou only goes up to 10 pictures which is 5 pairs. A good game, which is challenging would have more pairs as an option. Don't buy this game.

5-0 out of 5 stars fun (and stable) software for little Caillou fans
Mommy and Daddy are ging out for the evening and Julie is babysitting Caillou and Rosie. Your little one will enjoy wandering through the rooms of Caillou's house, finding clickable objects, 6 treasure hunt objects and 8 activities. Before playing, you select a "theme" -- Sports, Music, Sun & Sand or Nature, which only minimally affects game play, such as the drawings found in the Crafts area.

The games, most of which have three difficulty levels, are: (1) Crafts. You can make pictures or puppets, and choose coloring pages or connect-the-dots, and then print them out. (2) Music. Julie taps a tune on a xylophone and your child repeats it. Difficulty levels vary the number of notes (1, 3 or 5). (3) Cloud Shapes. As the three watch clouds float by, click on those that have a distinctive shape. Difficulty levels vary the number of clouds and whether or not the shapes are partially hidden. (4) Matching. Eight dresser drawers are shown. Match pairs by opening the drawers. Difficulty varies from solid color socks to simple versus more complex patterns. (5) Sing and Dance. Your child can choose from among several songs, then place a dancing Caillou image along the bars of music. When you press 'Play', Caillou dances along to the song. (6) Building Blocks. Use given shapes to construct a toy, then identify the object. Difficulty varies how the object is identified -- by clicking on a picture, overlapping letters of the given name or constructing the name from a jumble of letters. (7) Silly Stories. Determine a story by choosing a character, a place and two objects, then click the 'Play' button to have the story read aloud. Words are highlighted as the story is read. (8) Fly By Butterflies. Catch butterflies in a net by clicking on them. Difficulty level determines whether the butterflies are solid or have a simple or more complex pattern.

I like that the game begins with the familiar song and introduction from the television series, that it is very stable and seamlessly incorporates animated and puppet sequences into gameplay. I also like that these scenes can be interrupted with a mouse click. Instruction screens precede each activity and are clear, though too lengthy for little kids to take in. From any screen you can access help or instructions, or easily back out of an activity, and it's easy to change difficulty levels.

Little ones will probably learn mouse and navigation skills more than they will learn math or reading from this game, but it is entertaining for Caillou fans. Because the instructions can be lengthy, it's important that you sit with your child and play through the game at first. This title is very similar to Caillou Birthday Party -- identical format, different activities.

Great for Toddlers
I found the ability to change the skill level very appropriate for toddlers between 3 and 6 years. I needed to change the speed of my mouse, and suggest that you do also. This allows the little ones to become used to the mouse and allows them the interactivity of this game. It is for those little ones who are fans of Caillou.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderfull Game
I bought this game for my four year old who gets bored easly. I love this game and so does my son. I found that I didn't need to help him at all with this game, the instructions where easy. I think the game over all was great. I even found myself wanting to play it. I like how it was also musical. My 18 month old likes to watch my son play this game. I would recomend it to anyone who wants there children to learn and have fun at the same time. Great Game!!! ... Read more

Amazon.com Product Description

Links Championship Edition 2002 for Macintosh is the biggest upgrade in more than a decade to the Links for Macintosh golf series. It includes a course designer, new physics engine, 15 golfer personalities, and 13 championship golf courses. This edition also features a new rendering engine that creates terrain surfaces including cliffs, arches, and bunker overhangs. Trees, panoramas, and golfers are now antialiased for seamless transitions between onscreen elements. Images have a new higher resolution, and the courses come alive with flying birds.

Mac golfers can now re-create their home courses with the same tools used by the Links development team. The included Arnold Palmer Course Designer provides users with the ability to accurately re-create courses in a real-time 3-D system. Players can adjust every inch of fairway and create tunnels and arches with full control over each point on the course. A library of trees, shrubs, and other vegetation allows players to sort for the climate and season that fit their home course, or they can import their own custom trees.

In Links Championship Edition, 14 new golfer animations are captured at the highest resolution possible. New tour players and a variety of other golfers are built with lifelike, preshot motions including waggle, aiming, and preshot fidgeting. Each new golfer has a unique personality and will comment on players' games as if you were out golfing with buddies. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I love links CE!
Is it perfect? No. Rarely have I ever bought a [$$$] software product that was bug free. However, I've had a blast playing and would recommend Links CE to anyone. I've played it successfully in both OS X and 9.2.2 with relatively few problems. Most of the problems that have been reported in other reviews has to do with the reviewer's inability to read documentation, make a simple trip to a web site to update software, or use of older/limited equipment. This game is graphics/sound intensive so some tweaking of individual machines is to be expected! There are some issues with OS X, but I am confident that they will be worked out in short order. Links CE for the Mac is a great game...the best computer golf simulatin around!

5-0 out of 5 stars Links CE works great for me...
First the details: My ancient system consists of a PowerMac 7300 upgraded with a Newertech G3 400/200 processor card, and an ATI Rage VR 128 graphics card. I am running MacOS 9.1, and I'm using the June ATI driver update.

I had many problems with graphic artifacts when I first tried to play this game, but they were cleared up by increasing virtual memory to at least 256 MB. Giving the system more memory seems to be the key.

To date, I have played many rounds at various courses (those that came with the game, user made courses, and converted courses from Links LS 2000), and I have had very few problems. A few of the user made courses give me error messages about missing sound files, but most work correctly. All of the other courses that I have tried worked fine. Be warned that some of the more graphic intensive user made courses, like Pacific Breaks, might require you to increase your system memory a little more to be able to play them.

The graphics in the game are incredible. They are better than any of the previous Links games on the Mac. I am able to run the game at 1024 X 768 X 32 bit, with the picture quality setting just below maximum. Screen redraws take a little longer than they did in Links LS 2000, but not to an extent that they are intolerable. Note: To see these wonderful graphics, make sure that you are running the game in hardware rendering (OpenGL) mode, not software rendering mode.

I have tried just about all the new features in the game (panoramic view, dynamic camera, etc.), and they all work. Also, virtual tournament works better than it did in Links LS 2000. I replaced all the fictional names with actual names of players on the PGA tour, and I've been having a blast playing a fictional tournament against Tiger, Sergio, and the rest.

Is the game perfect out of the box? No. Depending on your system, you will probably have to do some tweaking to get it to run just right, but it can be done. Believe me, it's worth it. There are some issues that need to be addressed (the divot leaves a trail on the screen, the speed of some animations is a little fast, the course designer needs some work, and the course converter that comes with the game is PC only), but those will probably be fixed in future patches.

Bottom line...I recommend giving this game a chance. If you run into problems, there are places on the web where you can get help. Few, if any, computer games are released any more that are perfect out of the box. With a little tweaking, you will be glad you didn't give up on this game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Similar in appearance to LS 97-2000, until you actually play
I got the cd-rom, was annoyed by the mandatory loading of disc 1 to play. There may be a way around it, if you delete the Intro Quicktime Bold Gator video from your Links CE folder. After doing that, I don't have to place disc 1 in for verification anymore when I play CE. At the very least, you won't have to see the stupid video each time you start Links CE.

The adding of courses via the CD's 1-4 can be spotty, sometimes not loading them to your hard drive, but insisting on loading them from directly from the cd. You should be able to place CRZ courses directly into the courses folder and have them show up from the course manager as available courses.

As for play, the graphics do not dazzle, but CE has changed significantly in ball physics, both in flight, and in putting. Also, hitting into the rough has huge penalties, just like it should. In links 2000, except for special rough on some courses, most of the time you just went down an Iron. The putting is much harder and the colored grids are nice for viewing gradient changes.

The CRX to CRZ course converter results in courses that look just like they did when you played them in LS 2000 but with the new physics in effect--much more fun.

THe games can be buggy in some cases when hitting the ball, but all in all, this games plays similar to the windows version, just does not look quite as nice.

The worst thing about this game is the inability to play Windows users online--I dont get that at all, it is senseless. Still, this is a great golf game!

Make sure you have plenty of RAM, and a g-5 dual would not hurt.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice challenging golf game for the Mac
I play this game usually in downtime on the train or just to kick back and relax for a challenging round. Graphically it is a pretty good game but nowhere near the graphics level of PS2 or XBox. The physics of the game are fantastic and the courses rather challenging. Seems extremely difficult to get a hole in one. I run this on my Powerbook G4 with 768 megs of ram and the 8 megs of video running OS 10.2.4. It runs flawlessly when no other apps are open, but if you have a few ram intensive apps open, close them before you begin the game. One enhancement that I see as a neccessity is the ability to still navigate the dock when the game is running. I run iTunes at the same time as playing usually, and if I have to close the screen for some reason, iTunes stops playing and cannot be restarted without going to the dock.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good Graphics but Clumsy to Use
Links 2002 for Mac is OK, but not great. First, if you are an IMac user like me, you'll need to change your screen resolution to 800x600 for this product to even work. The IMac system has the right graphics card, however the program just cannot take the high quality resolution and it bombs the whole system if you don't turn down the resolution.

The second irritation of the software is you need the CDs to make it work. I'm all for protecting intellectual rights, but come on. CD Swapping? You need disk #1 to start the program and you need other disks to do other steps (like loading golf courses). In all a very clumsy way to handle what should be a great game.

Bottom line, it's graphically appealing, fun to play, but very clumsy and does not take full advantage of the IMac graphics capabilities. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Incredibly slow, clunky interface, horrible company
The program is decent in terms of features, but it's very slow once you get past the initial screen. It seems like the program was designed in the 80's and updated with duct tape and rubber bands to get the current version.

I recently tried to reach the management of the company because it seems they dropped their personal finance product. I wanted to make sure that MyBooks (and the entire company, for that matter) will still exist in a year.

There is nothing worse than investing time and money into learning a program only to find that it is no longer supported. After almost five days I still have not heard from anyone in Appgen, and that has me a bit worried. ... Read more
