Must have for education purposes
I bought this program to help myself memorize a lot of Spanish vocabulary for a college course and it helped out very much so with its flashcard like set up. Not only did it have a very large amount of vocabulary but it also had sound recordings of the vocabulary so you can also learn the correct pronunciation. However, Before You Know It Spanish is not only limited to use in Spanish. This software also allows you to create your on lists for flash cards and then memorize those also. This makes it very useful for learning by memorization and enables it to have many different uses such as having to memorize formulas for math class. These lists you can make are also able to be put onto Palm Pilots/Pocket PCs and you can also share them with friends because each list has its own save file. Best of the best
I have used lots of diffrent gps software products and find this to be the cream of the crop. It's visual and verbal prompt made me buy a pocket pc just so i can use it. I had a palm and used the mapolis product for the palm as well. Both are great.

Pocket PC Navigation that's fast
I use both a Palm and a Pocket PC for different applications and the Mapopolis Pocket PC Navigator solution here is outstanding. The ability to route across country, street to street seamlessly is a plus, allowing multiple 'route through' points and showing whatevetr level of detail you require. It provides turn by turn spoken and visual commands and if you go the wrong way it recalculates your route from where you are - no stopping to fiddle with the PDA. I particularly like three of the features; firstly it allows you to scroll or drag the map across the screen - you can see the WHOLE of the USA and by simply sliding your stylus across the screen , a new portion of map appears, regardless of the zoom level - great for checking out what's on the way to your destination. Secondly, it allows multiple options for avoiding Toll Roads and Freeways which is great if you're not planning on sitting in 5 o'clock traffic. Finally, I guess my favorite, is the ability to add your own favorite locations - called Geomarks - such as customers, friends, Fedex buildings or whatever, and then route to, through or from these places - it saves retyping your addresses over and over again! Innovative and Very Intuitive
This product is absolutely amazing. It is an extremely useful educational tool for language learning and much more. The Before You Know It Multipack is designed for language learning, especially vocabulary, by basically using electronic flashcards. The Multipack version includes an enormous amount of content for Spanish, French, Italian and German languages and is a good place to start learning the languages or for studying/refreshing. Now this is great for language learning but in my opinion the best feature of this program is the ability to make your own electronic flashcards for anything and you can also share them with friends through email and on Palm Pilots. To me this is a must have for studying anything that you need to memorize. It is so useful and very helpful in these aspects. It also shows you the cards you have the most trouble learning more frequently than the ones that you do not have trouble remembering which in the end means that you will have a very effective studying method. This program is very user friendly, simple to use and has plethora of uses. I believe that even if you do not want the language aspects the program, it is still more than worth having just because of the ability to create your own cards. This is a great resource, but after a year you can no longer access the information on your PDA. You are only buying a 1-year subscription. I got burned by this. A whole new way to learn spanish!
This program takes spanish language learning software to a whole new level. Advanced spanish is an appropriate title for this program since It literally immerses you in the language with an actual spanish soap opera episode. You can practice in a number of ways, as well as take quizzes. Some of the activities include a visually based vocabulary program. In this area of the software the program shows you a still from the movie with an object circled and you name the word in spanish. Others include listening for the missing word in a conversation- harder than it sounds. You can watch the movie with and without spanish subtitles so you can follow along with the script or try to watch it without. Be Careful
This product has many wonderful maps to use with a COMPUTER but BEWARE you can't load the maps onto a GPS so unless you want to carry a laptop on your next hike - skip it. The product information is misleading by stating the program has the the ability to load maps to a "device" apparently this does not include a GPS so I ask what's the point? What a disappointment.

Too many CDs!
Which would you prefer? 17 different CDs to keep track of and constantly switch in and out of your computer, or 1 or 2 DVDs? This product may be good, but I made a mistake by not waiting until it came out on DVD.

Excellent Topo
I bought this for desert and mountain 'off road' exploration and camping. In that capacity, I am completely satisfied with its seemless scrolling, map labelling and GPS downloading features. I can plan my routes, mark and print the highly detailed maps, and have it ready to go. Upon return, I can add small non-descript roads, trails, mine locations, etc that I find in the field via my GPS. I used to spend 20 to 30 dollars for paper topo's for outback trips. Now, I'll literally save hundreds with this software. And because this software doesn't require mega 3D computer capabilities, I actually installed this software in an old Pentium 1, with a 130 meg processer, and it works flawlessly! Now, I have put my old, and (formerly) no longer used computer to work in the garage for my trip planning. Something I couldn't do with the Regional State Series because of it's computer system requirements. The only potential drawback to this software is the lack of level 5 mapping. This software actually goes to 1:25,000 scale, but the only difference I can ascertain from pure 'level 5' is the missing gridlines and details. This system includes elevation cross section detail, and for my purposes, that makes up for any missing level 5 details. Comparatively, Delormes Atlas's are 1:150,000 scale, this software is full level 4 or 1:100,000 scale... and 1;25,000 as well, it's awesome. And if you really need to get closer, you can zoom the area you want. Overall, if you must have the level 5, which is 1:25,000 scale with level 5 detail, get the regional or state series sofware. But for the price, with 50 states of seemless 1:100,000 topo, and the system requirements, this software is exceptional. Tred Lightly! ... Read more

Traffic Avoidance with Mapopolis ClearRoute
Anyone driving from south Orange county to LA area of California knows the 405 and the 5 regularly snarl up. Overall Good
Ok I searched a bunch of translators for my trip to Europe and found this one to be the best.

Don't expect to be speaking the language or translating the bible into Romanian.

It is good if you have a background in a language and need something to help out your vocabulary. It takes about 5 to 10 seconds to find the word you are looking for and translate it into whatever language you desire.

More popular languages or those more broadly spoken have a much larger volume of words. Overall if you are traveling to Europe or parts of Asia it would be difficult to find a word you could not translate. I wish I had this when I was in school for both my spanish and german classes.

Cons: You don't transfer all 20+ languages onto your handheld, rather you pick which ones you want. I selected about 8 but I still have plenty of memory to bring a few more. Rare languages will only have basic words so don't expect too much. Also no dirty words translated.

Pros: Hey if you are in a science class this is a MUST. I was a science major and the latin translation would have helped out a ton since most biology/anatomy is labeled in latin. If you are traveling this is nice to have when looking at a menu and making sure you aren't ordering sheep balls or something. Its quick to switch from german to english to english to french. Its like having a pocket translation book for 20 languages in one dictionary. All words come with brief (and i mean like 3 or 4 words) defintion.

Overall this product does just what it says. I gave it 4 out of 5 stars because the CD is having problems now after 2 months. It may just be mine or a scratch I accidentally did, but whatever the case I can't add greek which I wanted. ... Read more
