3-0 out of 5 stars Great looking but thin on gameplay
On the postive side, it looks just like the TV show, and it contains all the Simpsons characters and Springfield locations that you'd expect to see. For a while, it's fun to poke around and see what happens when you click on this door or that drawer. Unfortunately, there's just not enough to do in terms of gameplay. There doesn't seem to be much object of the game other than to collect hidden "trading cards". If you're a Simpsons fan, you'll enjoy it for a while, but it's ultimately kind of a disappointment.

5-0 out of 5 stars I love it!
Speaking as a big simpson fan I really like this game! It's not as much a game as it is an interactive envirernment ripped from the show! The 3d when walking on the street is okay but the 2d areas look great!Plus the characters are voiced by the voice acters from the show. And there are many many events that fans will reconize from the show!Oh and it contains two new itchy and scratchy shorts!I could keep going on and on with the details on this but I don't want to waste your time.So I will finish by saying that if you are a simpsons fan get it!

3-0 out of 5 stars Take a ride through Springfield
VS allows you to take a humorous tour around Springfield, occasionally finding keys that will allow you to unlock certain places.Fun and funny to look at now and then.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not much to do.
All you really do in this game is look around Springfield and run into the occasional character. I finished the entire thing in less than 2 hours. Plus it is not very vivid or deep. You can only visit 2 classrooms in the Springfield elementary school, there is only 1 angle of Moes bar etc. All you really do is LOOK at these locatons that we are already familiar with and have the tiniest little bit of interaction with them. Plus the geography of Springfield in this game is not the same as the TV show. Which is also inconsistant in it's placing of many "sets". Moes Bar has been in many different places for example. But, then again, in the HOMER BECOMES a garbageman episode, the town was moved to another site. Perhaps this is where it got all shuffled up.

There are a few little (and I mean little) games included. One of the main games is to simply find hidden baseball cards. A ploy to trick into clicking on the screen and revealing slight animation.

In total there is just under 25 minutes worth of animation here and it is cool that the original cast provided the voices. But unless you are a Die Hard Simpsons fan then I would leave this game be. Definitely only for younger kids.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Simpsons game!!!!!!!
This game is fun especially for the Simpsons fans. I like how you can walk around springfield and explore everything. I love going to the school. The Simpsons house is the best but you'll get a kick out of the Flanders house. In every place there are a few mini games that are fun for a while. If you like the Simpsons GET THIS GAME NOW!!!! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Time-Saver
Writing a screenplay can be a very daunting task, especially for someone who is not familiar with the format. Before purchasing Final Draft, my previous screenplays were written in your basic, custom-formated Microsoft Word document.

Final Draft 6 does it all the formating for you. A function called "SmartType" finishes off character names for you, so you don't have to keep typing in names. This is wonderful when you have two or three characters talking to each other in a string, so you can quickly type the conversation, as if it were going on in front of you.

When I transferred my previous screenplays into Final Draft, it took about an hour or so to reformat a 106-page document correctly. Final Draft was able to interperate about 80% of the formatting correctly, getting confused on mostly transitions and telling the difference between some scene headings and actions. Although, it knew exactly what was dialogue just by where it was placed in the word document, which I thought was remarkable.

Some of the templates for actual T.V. shows are a little silly, but they serve their purpose: giving you the raw format for a certain show, which can vary greatly depending on the series. If you have your own show you've created, you can save a blank document with the initial beginings of the script as a template and be able to have a fresh document ready for your next episode.

Final Draft is a great purchase for the novice screen writer learning the format, and a wonderful time-saver for the somewhat-established to established veteran.

2-0 out of 5 stars Final Draft 6 Needs Revision
Even though it remains the Hollywood standard, Final Draft 6 leaves a lot to be desired. For lack of a decent alternative, I've used this application for the better part of a decade, and it remains clumsy to use and well behind the curve of technology.

The big issue: Onscreen text looks atrocious. After a year on the market, Final Draft 6 still doesn't use Mac OS X's technology to render beautiful anti-aliased text. Third-party fixes, like Silk, work only halfway to solve Final Draft's shortcomings. But should an application that costs $ need fixing at all? Unacceptable.

And beware of WYSIWYDG, or "What You See Is What You Don't Get." You might find the perfect font in the Font Menu, but good luck applying it to your screenplay. Worse, there are occasional text hiccups, where the text-rendering is garbled and screen redrawing is skewed.

'Authorization' remains a nuisance, too. (Bet you didn't remember to 'deauthorize''before a system reinstall or upgrade.) I know of no other software that requires such an unwieldy process just to stay running smoothly.

Final Draft 6 is still better than a typewriter or a standard word processor for writing scripts, but not by much. Considering the steep price, maybe it's time to revisit the competition.

1-0 out of 5 stars Quirky program made useless by copy protection
Buyer beware: Final Draft incorporates an archaic copy protection scheme that will drive you nuts. Every other category of computer software did away with this kind of user-unfriendly copy protection scheme in the mid-80s, but the screenwriting software vendors persist. You're probably better off using Microsoft Word (which is far more robust) and using a simple formatting utility when you're project is finished. If you have any hard drive crashes or hardware upgrades and you forget to de-install Final Draft you will lose your install keys. Tech support is scarce and the online help system is only good for the most basic information. While it should make your life simpler this product will make your life hell. Avoid it like the plague.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best investment I've made for writing.
I purchased Final Draft a couple of years ago, and it was the best investment for writing I've made yet. I had loads of story ideas in my head, but had no idea how to write a screenplay or teleplay, and didn't have the patience to read a book about it.

I am a VERY basic computer user and feared formatting software would be nothing short of a nightmare, but within a month I formatted three one-hour teleplays, started on a screenplay, and knew how to navigate the software fairly well. The Smart-type feature is a lifesaver, and the various view, outline, and report features are incredibly helpful and save loads of time.

There are a few features that were more complicated to learn, and as an absolute novice I had some questions that I couldn't find answers for in the program, but overall - I'm thrilled with it and use it everyday.

I'd recommend this software to anyone, rank amateur or paid professional ,who's looking for a user-friendly, helpful, and reliable formatting system.

5-0 out of 5 stars There's a reason the whole world uses it -- it's the best
Final Draft is simply the best there is. Screenwriter is buggy [I borrowed an install from a friend], Scriptware is a joke [based on the demo I tried] and Sophocles doesn't even run on my Mac. If you follow the directions it does exactly what it says it's going to do. It's a professional-grade tool [even though I'm not a professional-grade writer - YET], it's got 24/7 help [that I haven't even come close to needing] and everyone I know uses it [and I do work in the industry]. As far as I can tell the people who have problems with it aren't using it right or they have crappy computers.

Don't mess around with other programs. This one is the one to use. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Good for a Laugh
I purchased this CD because I wanted to bring back some childhood memories however the selection of films isn't in the Stooge classic list I would have made. The only real chuckles come from "Malice in the Palace". This one is an example of Stooges at the top of their game. Still, I think it is worthy of a look if you like to collect pocket videos as I do.

2-0 out of 5 stars Fine if you have nothing more important to do
When I bought this, I thought that it would be a good thing to have to help pass the time if I was ever bored. But I soon realized that if I had the time to load it onto my Pocket PC, I could be doing something useful. I'd recommend getting something you can watch on your regular computer instead. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars For those of you who want to read all the DS9 scripts
Only on this CD are all the 176 scripts to all the episodes. There are a few photos and production notes but you don't have to search the web for them anymore. They are all here. Will they ever produce a version for Voyager?

5-0 out of 5 stars The Definative Guide to the Series
If you're a fan of Deep Space Nine then don't miss out on adding this incredibly detailed book to your library. The glimpses into the making of the episodes and the characters are fascinating. This is the kind of book you relish over time and it's worth every dime.

5-0 out of 5 stars Good database for Trek's "middle child"
I always felt that DS9 suffered from the "Jan Brady/Rodney Dangerfield" syndrome: that is, the show didn't get the respect from the fans that is so richly deserved. While praise was heaped upon "Next Generation" and "Voyager," it just appeared that DS9 was not given its props.

As one of its most stalwart supporters, I strongly recommend this episode guide for its attention to detail. Contrary to the other reviewer, I had no trouble accessing all the information contained on the disc. The information helps me to learn about favorite eps and refresh my memory of all the intricacies involved in the production of this excellent show.

This is one "companion" that I am glad that I "met."

4-0 out of 5 stars If you are a DS9 fan, you must own this rare gem!
The main reason to get this DS9 companion is due to the fact that it has every complete DS9 shooting script on one convenient CD-Rom disc. The core of DS9's success lay in its excellent writing, and creative character development of its principal players: Sisko, Worf, O'Brien, Kira, Jadzia, Odo, Quark, Bashir, Garak, and countless others throughout the series' 7 seasons.

This truly is a diamond in the rough, and a worthy collector's item to diehard Niners out there!

4-0 out of 5 stars A useful reference guide
I found this guide to be very helpful by providing a fully-searchable set of the episode scripts. It sounds like wcaver was using the feature search (which is somewhat less than useful), rather than the full text search (which finds every instance of a word in all of the scripts).

However, it isn't perfect. For one thing, if you click on any word in the script or synopsis, it does a text search for that word. For someone who is used to clicking in a window to bring the focus there, this is very distracting. For another thing, the guest star information is incomplete; only the "primary" guest stars are listed, and the actors who played minor roles are not listed.

Still, for the price this is a very handy product. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the better entry level programs
This exceeded my expectations. The two things I like most are easy editing functions and the ability to create high quality menus for DVDs. My only complaint is that there is a limit on the size of the files you can capture, ie. capturing a 4hr extended play home video. The program does capture the footage, gives several error/warning messages and the sound on the footage is lost. I will continue to use to transfer purchased VHS to DVD. Good program/value to get started with.

1-0 out of 5 stars I do NOT recommend this software
Trying to burn imported files to SVCD. Every single one had a spot where the video went bad momentarily then audio and video were out of sync. You cannot burn a file without running thru their encoder first and I could never get a good output file. Their tech support told me to update my VIDEO CARD drivers and windows media PLAYER codecs. Then they told me they wouldn't help me because I didn't meet the minimum sys requirements because I had integrated sound device instead of a separate sound card which has nothing to do with the problem. I asked for a refund and was told that I agreed to their license when I installed the software so I guess I got taken. My advice, by something else.

1-0 out of 5 stars Would be cool if it actually worked
I have never been able to do anything with this program without it locking up. Nothing at all. I have contacted customer service several times and they are no help at all (such useless suggestions as "try reinstalling the program"). My computer exceeds all of the minimum requirements and has had no problems with other burning software. It looks like it has some really nice features, IF they worked. I exchanged the original program at the store and the second one does the exact same thing. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The picture and name doesn't match the product.
I ordered this product because it said that it was a multimedia studio. When I received my order the package has a completly different cover than the one shown on the web site and states Activity Studio. I already own the activity studio and that is why I ordered this multimedia product. I feel that this is false advertising and I don't need two of the same item. In order to send it back, I have to pay postage and I'm not doing that. Anyway, the item itself is great. I would recommend it but if you already own the activity studio, don't get this one because it's the same thing.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Surprising Little Diversion
I picked this up mostly out of curiosity. I was afraid that the wallpaper and screensavers would turn out to be merely the same ones on the official movie website. However, it wasn't so. There are new images. Of course, there are a disproportionate amount of Legolas images to the importance of his role in the movie, but that's pretty much par for the course and should please the "Orli fans." They also put in a few surprising images for instance the usually ignored Eomer.

All in all, this is just a little toy program and nothing more than was expected. I play all my video games on consoles, so I really only buy the little PC CD-ROMs like this. I look forward to making some Hobbit stationary. :)

4-0 out of 5 stars It's An Activity Studio- it's not supposed to be a game
I think the "one star" review attached to this titles is actually for one of the LOTR Games and the reviewer may be right about the game products, I don't know. However, the IMSI product is a film companion which allows you create and print out posters, calendars, flyers, bookmarks, etc. It also includes puzzles and quiz on the characters and the ability to create desktop and screen savers. It's a engaging print activity studio with some nice features. I recommend it. Just don't expect a video game experience

1-0 out of 5 stars Worst game I've seen in a while
Now, don't get me wrong... I'm a fan of Lord of the Rings and immensely enjoy the world. I like being able to play as the characters and act out the events of the story. However, this game is not the means to do so. Technical problems just kill any enjoyment that could possibly come from it:
* camera changes on you to the point where sometimes you can't see what you're doing or which way you're facing
* hitting movement combos is nearly impossible (on either keyboard or gamepad) because the only way you can survive is to hit the attack button as quickly as possible and hope you're looking at your enemy and not batting air.
* don't even get me started on ranged weapon targeting...
* watching long movie sequences that you can't skip is fun at first... but gets annoying really quickly.

Overall, if you can borrow this game from someone and give it a try first, go for it. It's not inherently bad. Movie fragments are fun, and so are the interviews with cast members. But I would recommend staying away from actually buying this game. Get yourself an extended version of DVDs instead. ... Read more

This product does it all as represented and if I didn't stumble upon it at an incredibly low price, I wouldn't have investigated it at all. For those yearning for its limitations, the only suggestion would have been for the manufacturer to provide a video of putting together a sample edited video. Proving you don't have to be a pencilneck to get a thrill out of your PC, the WWF brings us the EncycRAWpedia Volume 1 with enough footage to keep us happy until the next big slamdown. Including never-before-seen video, audio clips, screen savers, still photos, and superstar biographies, this CD-ROM puts Monday Night RAW at your fingertips like never before.Want to see Stone Cold Steve Austin take care of Vince McMahon? It's right here.Need to see the Undertaker, the Rock, or Mankind? They all warrant their own sections too.The Corporate Ministry and D-Generation-X also get their time, so get ready for a lot of pointing and clicking as they duke it out on your monitor.

Sounds and screen savers are automatically loaded into the right directories for easy access, so if you want Austin, Debra, or a galaxy of WWF stars to parade across your PC when you're away, you're just a mouse click away. You need DirectX to get the most out of the CD (don't worry, it comes with the disk), and, sadly for networkers, the EncycRAWpedia won't work on Windows NT machines. But if your computer can handle it, load it up and experience the RAW action--when you've seen what these guys go through, you'll never complain about carpal tunnel syndrome again. --Rob Lightner ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Could Have Been A Lot Better
When I purchased this CD, I thought I'd be getting a great lookback at some of the WWF's greatest Raw moments. It features SteveAustin, The Rock, Undertaker, Mankind, DX, The Austin/McMahon fued, and the Corporate Ministry. While it provides a decent amount of video and sound clips, the rest of the CD seriously lacks. For example, there is a "Superstar Photo Gallery" that doesn't contain more than one image of each wrestler. If that isn't bad enough, there are only 15 personalities available! I know the WWF has more superstars than that. The "Superstar Bios" section is even worse, containing only 9 bios. The company who made this disc could have just pulled all the bios off the WWF web site and used those. Why they only chose a few is beyond me. Also included are three, yes, three "screen savers". Steve Austin, Debra, and "WWF Superstars". The Steve Austin screen saver only has 4 images of him! The Debra one has a few more, and the "WWF Superstars" saver only shows about 8 images of WWF wrestlers. Again, there are far more wrestlers in the WWF than that. I've seen better savers on the internet for free... I think the design and interface of the CD is very weak. It's just bad in some spots and confusing in others. In closing, an alright disc for the clips if you don't already have them on tape, but not much more than that. The WWF has a good track record for quality products, but I was shocked that they actually let Multimedia 2000, inc release this thing. It's VERY overpriced at $29.99. I wouldn't pay more than $9.99 for it after seeing how bare and amature looking it is. Maybe Volume 2 will be better.

5-0 out of 5 stars A MUST FOR ANY WRESTLING FAN
This is not a game, per se, but is more or less a compilation of clips from matches, sound bites, candid photos, biographies of The Rock, Stone Cold, ManKind and a lot of other WWF stars. I bought this game for my 9 year old son who is a wrestling maniac. He loved it of course, but I must admit that I also found it to be a lot of fun. There's a lot to do here and even a connection to the WWF internet store (now that's great marketing!). This is an absolute must for any WWF fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great gift for every wrestling fan!
"You better call some one!" "'Cause Stone Cold said so!" "If you smell what the Rock is cooking!" "Meet the ninth wonder of the world." Do these saying sound familiar? If not you're probably not watching WWF Raw is War. Multimedia 2000 can help you out with EncycRAWpedia.

This easy to install cd will bring back many memories of one of professional wrestling's premier shows. With sound clips, pictures, screen savers and much more, the true WWF fan has really gotten a bargain. Couple that with the price of $39.95 and you have the perfect gift.

You see the Undertaker, Ken Shammrock, the Rock, Mankind, Chyna, Triple H, Degeneration X, the Giant, Vince and Shame McMahan and many other WWF superstars. The cd has no major complication during install, but you need the cd in order to run the program.

Multimedia 2000 gives you a good product, to make it better they might want to create a cd about the history of the WWF with roll call of champions, highlights of the past years and other things of that nature. The compilation history cd may be more appealing to a wider audience, overall a good product.

4-0 out of 5 stars EncycRAWpedia CD
The WWF EncycRAWpedia is a useful little tool that allows the common fan to observe past clips from RAW IS WAR and assorted federation events. Although the content falls a bit short as there could have been more meat to it, the program is an entertaining one with a very interesting animated intro. Recommended to WWF fans looking for a creative product, but nothing TOO extraordinary.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best WWF CD-ROM available!
This CD-ROM is fantastic....the videos running in the Titan Tron was an excellent idea. I really loved that. Backgrounds are great too. I think the 'soundbites' could have been eliminated from the CD though, and extra videos would have taken their place. The screensavers are fine too.

The sounds going in each menu are good..and the introduction with Kane kicks ass. Nice animation there. Overall a great product, with some of the best RAW Is WAR video clips you could think of. ... Read more
