fantastic and easy to use
I have been collecting model cars for over twenty years and have more cars than I can possibly keep track off. I often have to move and I am always concerned about losing my cars as well as reorganizing my collection after I settle in. I use the SAFE software to easily catalog my collection so that I'll never have to worry. Plus I can print out a record and see which cars I have so that I don't buy two of the same cars!

organization was never so easy
I move around a lot and I'm always worried about losing warranties and important information about my electronics. I also collect crystal pieces that are very valuable. SAFE allows me to keep all that information in one spot in case anything happens. Its also really easy.

Review of SAFE Home Inventory
This is one of those products that you don't realize you need until you start using it. I always figured that if my house burned to the ground, insurance would cover anything in my house...that is, if I could remember what I had...which is next to impossible. SAFE Home Inventory lets me keep track of all my stuff, not just jewelry and furniture. I thought the program was easy to use, especially since it comes with example items so you can see how it works (very helpful!). I really like the fact that I can add pictures, save all of my inventory to a CD, and then put the CD in my safe-deposit box. Disappointed
I bought this software because I needed a Lease Agreement for an apartment I was leasing. I was very disappointed to see that the form was not as customizable as I needed it to be. There were some items listed in the form that I did not need, but had no choice but to leave them in. I needed something more flexible. This just wasn't the form for me. Piece of crap
Don't buy it. Keeps crashing during the start of making a will. Need to find different software.

This application is very poor, full of bugs, and generally..
will make you regret that you bought it. It barely even ran on my Mac in Classic mode, and would not run at all in OS X, athough it states that it is supported.

I really can't say enough bad things about this application; even when I did get it running under Classic, the quality of the application was just awful. Horrible unintuitive interfact, poor "interview" process, and poor results. It's difficult to use if you can get it to run at all. I will I could return it.

They should take this off the market... Do it right or not at all.

Willpower sucks
This is a ridiculously bad program. It's basically a word processor with some blank spaces for personal information, but for some reason it runs reaaalllly slllooowwwwww... I have know idea why. I have a fast computer that can handle video editing and photoshop files with ease and this thing just pokes along. You end up with some gibberish that needs to be corrected, and when you export, it just gives you the first page several times. I wouldn't trust anything that came out of this piece of junk.

Not worth it
The description of this product sounds wonderful and I bet that it WOULD be worth it, but it will not work on any computer that I have tried to put it on! It won't work under windows or mac. What's up with that? Save your money because this is false advertising. It's not worth the money unless you can make it work. I wish it did work, because it looks like a very useful product.

Will power is buggy
I purchased this product with the expectation that it would at least function properly. Unfortunately, the product has some serious bugs. I have installed, uninstalled, and reinstalled the product on my Mac (G4 runnig OSX Panter) to no avail. If all you want to do is create a power of attorney then this is the product for you. Otherwise, spend your money elsewhere.

Find a different program instead!
I thought the Kliplinger Will program would be as functional as their TaxCut software, but clearly this program falls short. The instructions were bad, and what drove me the MOST crazy was that there was no delete feature (if you mistakenly list your mutual fund under a savings account, for example, you can't just delete or recatogorize the entry).

When I printed my V-E-R-Y simple will, the program managed to spit out 45 pages of lawyer-speak. What a waste of paper.

I can't return this dog fast enough. Thankfully Kiplinger allows a 60 day period for a full refund. I'm going to try the Quicken program instead.

Willpower
Product had an error when entering the data. Called technical support and explained the error condition and even the cause. They seemed to have no interest in attempting to correct the problem. Cleaned up custody
This is a great program for clearly seeing who has the kids and when. In my state you have to know the percentage of time you have your kids in order to calculate your child support obligation. This program saved us all hours of aggravation by calculating their schedule on an easy to read calendar that also printed it out in text form plus it came with "court ready" documents. One big huge part of the process made easier.

Clarity for my Kids
My attorney didn't even know about this great program. I found it on amazon and it saved my relationship with my ex and my kids. Now everyone knows where they are supposed to be and when. The court knows the percentage of time and the fights over support seem to be over.

Cleaning Up Custody Confusion
I was sick of calendar sheets, colored pencils and a calculator trying to figure out who had custody of the children and when. Kidmate cleared up the confusion for the whole changing family. It is a simple program to use with lots of parenting/visitation plans already programmed and/or the ability to make a custom one. I have three children two of whom are are different schedules, Kidmate handled it all.The judge, the attorneys and even my ex were all pleased with the results. Kidmate gave me both a calendar and a printed report. Now we all know who picks up, who drops off, where the children are and what percentage of time each of us has them. I like it
Great pice of software if you do alot of private deals and sales and dont want to always have a document approved for legal use.

Don't buy this product
This product was not thought out very well. It was more designed for New York, I thought there would be more generic forms. I has trouble getting the forms I wanted, it was a complete waste of my money. I now need to purchase another program

Good and Simple -Worth the [price range]
It appears very straightforward and easy to use. Not a lot of bells and whistles, but you can edit anything in most standard text applications. It is probably a 4 star for its inexpensive price, but I am a hard grader and it was not in Mac format. I was able to load it on Virtual PC and then view the individual files (without the silly Windows front end, which was fine, but just not really needed) on my Mac, so I was not too unhappy. It has all the basic legal forms, but I suspect most people will only need two or three in their life (the problem is which ones), so it is nice to have them all on one disk. I wanted it for a simple Will and I am willing to read a book and make my own changes without a lot of help. If you're a Microsoft fool, it will let you use the macro feature (you must disable the macro virus protection first) in Word 2000 to fill in the forms. ... Read more

A very good collection of legal documents
This product puts together a very good collection of legal documents (for both home and business users). I sent the documents generated by this program to my clients and business associates and they all were very impressed (even my attorney friends). It is like you have an attorney resides in your computer.

The other major benefits are time and money saving. Using this program I can get a nice legal document ready to go in matter of hours in stead of days or even weeks and it has saved me few thousand dollars (if I opted for using attorney).

It asks the right / necessary questions before generating the documents and gives good explanations about the meaning of the legal term in case you need to know more about it. I seldom got lost using it.

It might not be a good word processor as MS WORD (I always export the document and edit it using WORD) but it is an A class legal document generator. For me, this is one of the very few S/W products that really worths many times of the price I paid for it.

Well worth the price
Generally a very useful product. I use it for small family business matters including leasing, liability releases, etc. In every case that I have created a document I have submitted it to our attorney for review before using the documents. And in every case our attorney has had only minor change suggestions. In large part these are due to local (state or other local) requirements. One improvement they could make would be to allow the software to adapt documents to comply with state laws. I also found the software to be occassionally un-stable and crash. This problem has persisted across two computers first with Windows 98 and later Windows XP. But it is still worth having.

I returned mine
First, you can not use the roller/ scroll on your mouse with this program (yes, technical support confirmed this to be true)--not the end of the world, but annoying. Second, there were glitches trying to save files sometimes. Third, the options offered for a prenuptial agreement in a community property state were incomplete, and the information led you to believe that you did not have options which truly do exist! At this point I had had it, and just returned the thing!

Don't buy Perfect Attorney. It claims to be more than it is.
I purchased this program in order to form an Limited Liability Company in Utah. Unfortunately the program is the most unfriendly user interface of any software I have ever purchased. As for the their so called "Help" links. Click on it and there is no real help. Even after I figured out how to navigate the windows 3.1 style interface, my disappointment was about to increase dramatically. The software box shows that you can use the program to create forms for a Limited Liability Company. What I actually got was a one page generic .pdf file that was not editable or able to create any LLC form. hassle free will
My wife and I did our wills. Nothing fancy, no complicated scenarios. For us it was a snap. Of course neither of us have died. Until then who knows. Worth it in order to avoid paying a lawyer a bundle. I can reccommend it for simple estates.

Very disappointed
I was rather disappointed with this purchase and my purchase of the Business version. I would have preferred to have more document templates. I have used the Quicken Lawyer 2003 Business version and they're getting warmer. Perhaps the 2004 version will be great?

Definitely a DOWNGRADE
I agree with a previous reviewer who said:

"Nothing personal against Nolo, but the new version has nowhere near the capabilities of the previous one...For those of you who are used to the old version and looking for an upgrade, do yourself a favor and go the Broderbund website. There you'll find the latest version of what used to be Quicken Family Lawyer. Buying the new Quicken Lawyer 2002 is nothing short of a DOWNGRADE."

Plus the screens are not at all user-friendly. I'd like to trade mine for the Broderbund model.

The greatest software I've ever used
I saw several people bashing this wonderful software (all within a short amount of time, I note), many of which promote a terrible software package called "Family Lawyer," which makes me think Quicken's competitors are doing a bit of negative marketing.

Well let me tell you, I've used both, and Quicken Lawyer far and away exceeded Family Lawyer. First of all, it catches your mistakes, so you won't accidentally make a will out to yourself (like I almost did). Also, I don't no how many times Family Lawyer simply gave me a form and didn't tell me how to use it. Finally, Quicken has an update feature so you get the latest legal changes; the other product didn't tell me to expect changes.

This software saved me hundreds. I first got it when I needed to make a will and a healthcare directive before I had surgery.It was quick, easy and instructive. The program took me through the process step by step. Since then I've created a new will, a financial power of attorney and documents for my personal representative without a hitch. Thanks Quicken!

Quicken should've warned us !
Sometime between the releases of Quicken Family Lawyer 2001 Deluxe and Quicken Lawyer 2002 Personal Deluxe, Quicken switched from software offered by Parsons to this new version offered by Nolo (I hear this is because Broderbund purchased Parsons).
Nothing personal against Nolo, but the new version has nowhere near the capabilities of the previous one. For one thing, the number of legal documents has dropped from well over 150 to 31. For those of you who are used to the old version and looking for an upgrade, do yourself a favor and go [the Broderbund website.]There you'll find the latest version of what used to be Quicken Family Lawyer. Good Simple Will Product
This was a good program that walks through most simple Will related documents. I did the common Will and found it straightforward. The program steps you through questions and allows you to jump around by clicking on any part of the document. There is reasonable flexibility to saving and editing, but it was not always obvious. It is great it was written for both the PC and the Mac (I appreciate companies that will make software that runs on Apple computers) and it was easy to install and run, which is a real plus, but it still appeared to be written by a "windoze" programmer. The odd thing was they put the menus on a separate bar and did not use the Apple menus bar at the top (by habit I always went to that to save, quit, etc. and it was not there). What I did not like was that you could not see some of the wording on the forms easily (i.e., small script print). I did not like the need to enter a name and general info before getting started on any topic. However, once you got going it was not that bad and you could import a filled form (i.e. my Will) to another (i.e., my wife's Will), keeping all the common information. You do get an option to edit the file as text, but they really caution against that because you might mess up the "legal wording and format". It will do rich text format and you can edit that in Word or another text editor. I was hoping for a few varied examples of things done in a Will to "pick and choose from," or other suggestions/alternatives, but there was none. It seems like all the software and Internet help says "do it this way" or get a lawyer! If you want a few more forms or a good legal dictionary, get the Family Lawyer CD by the same company; otherwise they are the exact same software! ... Read more

Frustrating program to use...
If you decide to purchase this program you will need to have Macromedia Shockwave to use with this, and it does not tell you this until you install it. In addition this company did not bundle it on the CD-ROM. Even after installing this program it did not create a shortcut for it (though it is on my programs menu, and I was able to create a shortcut) from there. After installing Shockwave on my computer, it did not function properly. I was able to view the documents by clicking on them individually through the Windows registry, but it did not enable the macros so that I could fill them out. The wording of the documents and the many different types of documents offered are good, but this program does not work well at all on Windows 95, and I had so many problems with it I finally just uninstalled it and took it back to Office Depot. There is a cheaper program called PC Attorney available through Cosmi Software that works just as well if not better, or use Quicken Personal Lawyer, which is more money but definitely more user-friendly.
