Not great, just the best.
Of all the collections I have sampled, this is the one I chose to purchase, and in two years I haven't regretted it. Most of the art is useful, but even with a half million images, there are topics which are not covered in useful depth. I wish there was a greater emphasis on complex vector illustration, and that it was possible to search electronically; you really have to use the bulky catalog to find something.
Don't take this review as being too negative. If you are going to rely on a single collection, this is the one to get. The larger Art Explosion collections offer little more than extra variations on the images here, and most of the other publishers' mega-offerings are just junk.

Contemporary, updated collection beats out IMSI MasterClips
Finally, Nova Development has got it right, delivering an excellent antidote to the cheesy and outdated Art Explosion 250,000 collection. The Art Explosion 525,000 has been updated to reflect the more sophisticated aesthetic of the 1990s, with thousands more images in contemporary styles such as brushstroke and woodblock. Looking for just the right words? Look no further than Broderbund's Greeting Cards Deluxe. The package is initially impressive with its wide selection of cards and other projects, plus its countless images (both available through the included CDs and off the Broderbund site). However, a few features stand out to really make this package shine.

First and foremost, the folks at Broderbund have made printing a snap. No more fumbling with double-sided confusion: both on-screen and printed directions customize the printing to your printer and make it easy to avoid wasted paper and ink. One caveat: there doesn't seem to be a way to turn off the extra directions sheet that the application prints, which can lead to wasted premium paper.

The second sharp feature of Greeting Cards Deluxe is its compatibility with your address book. This means that not only is addressing your cards easy and streamlined, but you can also manage a powerful event reminder that notifies you of upcoming anniversaries, birthdays, and other special events.

After a somewhat lengthy install (about 10 minutes using Windows XP), the package is easy to get into. The start-up video is handsome and useful, and jumping right in is easy with a familiar interface. The photo workshop is a welcome addition, letting you adjust colors, crop, cut out, and otherwise manipulate your picture for the perfect project, without having to learn another software package or leave this one.

The selection of art and projects is assuredly vast, however much of it is available online. Both can be searched by keyword, although this function is somewhat limited: only words actually appearing in the description or on the project itself are searched. ("Mother" and "Mom" searches yield different results.) Hate it!
This is not a user friendly program. It does not allow you to do basic functions like change margins or select custom card size. Even when you buy the Avery cards, the layout doesn't necessarily match the size of the actual card, and there is now way to change it.

This was complete waste of money!

Not as good as Hallmark / American Greetings
I've got both the Hallmark and Am Greetings software in addition to this. Both are much easier to use with better quality cards. Save your money and get one of those!

Misleading rebate ad
This software is NOT FREE after rebate unless you own the previous version. I'll return mine.

OK, but not much more
This product has a lot clip art, but is hard to use. Although I have a 2.4 GHz PC, it still takes about 30 seconds for the application to open. When I import photos, PrintMaster seems to alter (diminish) the quality. For example, when I import high-quality photos into PrintMaster and then print them as part of a greeting card, the photos look very grainy. Borders are available as clip art, but are hard to re-size to fit around objects (there appears to be no specific tool for creating borders). Also, THE REBATE AD IS MISLEADING. YOU NEED TO OWN A COMPETING PRODUCT AND RETURN THE DISK BACK TO BRODERBUND TO GET YOUR REBATE.

Could use a lot of improvement
Image quality and variety was medium. While there are some excellant images, I had to search for them through multiple categories to find them. Many, many of the images were childlike, almost cartoonish, and I'd be embarassed to use them in a religious group's newsletter (my purpose). In addition, each image seems to have a vertical black line built into it at the left side, which forces me to edit the image and overlay part of it with a white stripe. One should not have to jump through these hoops! I also could not save an image to disk; I had to select it, copy it to the clipboard, and paste into another document.

Granted, some of the images are inspirational, and there are many of a wide range of subject matter (e.g., Jesus's miricles). However, each time I load this cd to look for an image, I sigh a sigh of frustration, and wish I had something better to work from.

God will not be pleased!
I realize that such a CD will have many "cartoonish" pictures and include the "ecumenical" or new age religions, but I expected that a few time-honored pictures could be found. After all, we are talking about the majesty of God!!! At least 50% of all the pictures were gross and distorted figures (most were making fun of nuns, priests and monks). Even the "kid pictures" of the saints (and they had every name you could think of) were so poorly drawn that there was no difference or distinction between them other than the Saint's name. Even the Jewish and Muslin sections looked exactly like the Christian section! They could just as well exchange some of the titles of those for the Christian ones. I did not find any dignified pictures of Christ and the Christmas section was reindeer, holly, Santa, etc. - all secular.

The best I can say is that some of the clips of Churches were good and one or two were very nice. The best ones had some detail to them and that made them look elegant. That was generally lacking in all the other pictures... ... Read more

Pretty Bad
I bought this product because I wanted to load the entire product onto my PC and thus eliminate disk handling, but loading the 3rd disk of clip art was not clean.
Secondly, making a note card from Avery 8315 stock (2 note cards per page) could not be created or printed. It locked up my XP machine--only product that's mucked up XP to date. Sent an email to 'Ask a Tech' at Nova and haven't heard back yet. It's been 3 business days. Nova indicated it would most likely be one day. I'm returning the product.

Art Explosion Greeting Card Factory 2
This software is great!! It beats Hallmark Card Studio 2003 by a long shot! I bought the Hallmark Software first and have had nothing but trouble with it. With Greeting Card Factory 2, I purchased it, brought it home, installed it, and started using it immediately. It comes with a very helpful manual that gives you lots of pointers and ideas to use with the software. Don't bother ...
This product doesn't even deserve a star. Printing blank calendars is even a challenge. Some calendars don't work properly and upcoming holidays don't match the right dates. What a complete waste of time and money!

Not A Happy Camper!
I used Calender Creator 4.0 and was very satisfied with the performance of the software. I had to upgrade due conflicts with printing and my operating system. After several hours with the tech support people, I have come to the conclusion, dust off the old computer which operated under Windows 95, reload the 4.0 version and be satisfied once more...I do not recommend this software.

Works Poorly with Other Applications
I've used this title for years, and was drawn into buying this particular version by the claims of PDA compatibility. When I received the product and installed it, I learned that in the help section that "certain features of Calendar Creator and the Palm handhelds are not fully compatible, and may affect your data when synchronized." What an understatement!

My Palm (a Tungsten T) would not accept the repeating events from Calendar Creator. Then to add insult to injury the synchronization process actually CHANGED the CC9 events I had entered! It is bad enough that a Palm will not accept some CC9 events, contrary to the product advertisements. To modify the CC9 events in the CC9 program itself is a serious flaw in the software.

Calendar Creator does well as a stand-alone product. When I have tried to use it with another application however, it fails repeatedly. Upgrading to this version is definitely a waste of money.

Don't waste your time with this
This is great if all you want to do is print blank calendars. Forget about trying to put in repeating appointments or events. Lots of great sounding features - too bad they don't work on any of the Windows operating systems. They had a great product years and years ago, but have gone downhill ever since. Don't waste your time or money with this program.
