Excellent Product!
This is an excellent product. Very easy to use and loads of information! Worth of money!

A Great Starting Place!
This product is a great starting place for discovering new hikes and areas. It gives detail directions to get to the place and gives skill levels on the varying hikes. I recommend this product 100%. The navigation could be a bit better but it works. It takes a few minutes getting use too but all new products do. This is a collaboration of many books and if purchased in printed form would cost a lot of money and be over 1,000 pages. This is easy to read and easy to use.

Waste of money
This program does have some good hiking information but it is not very user friendly at all. The maps are the worst part of it, you can either look at a small general state map or zoom to a trail map NOTHING in-between. If you want to find trails (and don't know the trail name) you have to guess on the state which only lists major cities. All you can do is click on the small state map and hope it is near the town you are looking for. If you know the trail name then it is OK. My advice is save your money and use the internet because there are many hiking web sites that have the same or more trail information and are a lot easier to use. ... Read more

Buyer Beware
The packaging of this product seems delibertly designed to confuse the buyer. The product suggests that it can generate directions -- what it doesn't mention is that you have to go back to your computer each time to do so. You might as well use MapQuest! Other mapping products like Mapopolis and Tom Tom can actually do this. I finally decided to buy Mapopolis because it doesn't require a Tungsten T3 like Tom Tom (it doesn't even work on the T2 or Clie units) and have been happy with my purchase. It's a shame you can't return software, because I would love to send Rand McNally back ...

Big Mistake - Poor functionality, inaccurate
Caveat Emptor - Buyer Beware! I regularly rely on Internet mapping programs (e.g., MapQuest, Yahoo Maps) and thought a personal computer based PC to PAD mapping tool would allow easy interface between address book locations (throughout the USA) and surrounding points of interest and other business locations. The write-up for Rand McNally StreetFinder looked like a perfect fit . . . and if the software actually worked as advertised, it would have been. Unfortunately, from initial problems with installation, through dozens of common address locations that the software could not find or map, to partial downloads to my Tero 600 - this is one of the poorest software investments I have ever made. Decent Art Clips, Bad Service
Getting this software installed was a bear. Reluctant to pay more for phone support than I paid for the software itself, I elected to work through the problems using Broderbund's e-mail support. Most of the suggestions I received from Broderbund's technicians didn't address my stated concerns. In fact, I'm suspicious the technicians weren't even reading my messages but were sending me "standard troubleshooting suggestion #1" followed by "standard troubleshooting suggestion #2," etc. As such, it took nearly a week to receive the suggestion that actually solved my problem. If you don't mind feeling like a chump and wasting about 3.5 hours in total, the program delivers a lot of good clickart for the money.

Click Art 50,000
I just spent hours trying to load the 2 CDs for this product. I was unable to get anything to work. I sought help from the technical support staff at the major university where I work, and they could not get anything to work either, even after uninstalling the program. We continued to get the error message "install CD", even when it could be heard whizzing in the CPU. I also found that you can choose only one font at a time from the "font CD", which you must run live everytime you want to use a font. I tried the get help from the manufacturer (Broderbund) on their website. They had a few canned troubleshooting suggestions that don't apply. I had registered the program 3 times by this point, but the website would not recognize my username and password. The bottom line - don't waste your time and money on this impossible program.

I received no support when I needed it
I bought this software recently and tried to install it on my Windows Xp Pro in Portuguese. The installation went ok, however when trying to run the ClickArt50,000 for the first time I received an error indicating the program could not create some directories inside my home directory. I contacted Broderbund's support and reported the issue. Their official answer after two emails was: "We do not support installing ClickArt® 50,000 on a Spanish release of Windows. It is supported on English Windows only." I checked my product package and their web site and could not find any references saying the program will not run on Windows versions other than English. The bottom line is that the program will not run, the shop where I bought it from will not accept a return and I lost my money. So, be aware of "hidden"/"convenient" minimum tech requirements. Their support will not stand by what they advertise.

MacFonts 2
I am an amateur to the world of mac /computers in general, so with that being said... I have chosen, "Mac Fonts 2" for my first review!!! I found the installation to be a little confusing and very time consuming. I was hoping to be able to install all fonts at once, instead of clicking on each individual font. The good news however, is that the" Mac Fonts 2" has 1000 fonts to choose from and a great variety for whatever the occasion may be. The quick reference guide provided with this software indicates thatboth true type,and open type fonts are available; the open type format is designed to work cross platform on macs and pc's, however, you must have compatible software. What a scam! Think you're getting 950,000 images in the box? I did. But think again. You have to suffer through endless downloads to get more than the handful of images they give you in the box. Buggy, Hard to use, Not as good as other trip finders I have
To me it was a complete waste of time, too many discs and a difficult process to use them. If it were not for the Rebate I would have sent it back.

Not bad maps, worthless directions
The only value I have in this product is exporting a local map to my PDA. Other than that, Street & Trips is far superior. The automated directions are worthless. They don't pick the fastest route, they don't pick the shortest route, and they go fictitious near the end of the route. As an example, if I map a route from my office to my house, it takes a meander through side streets instead of travelling down the street I work on to the highway, then, when it does eventually get on the highway, the directions say to take the highway directly to my house, rather than getting off the highway and taking the 3 streets needed to do so. The map display shows the intended route taking a straight line through the woods between my house and the highway near the end as well.

not much of a help
This product seems like a waste of money to me. First, it was difficult to use the tripmaker - it would only plot a course from city to city, not from an address to an address. Then it was not easy to change the route that was suggested - I spent 20 minutes trying to have the route take me the length of Skyline Drive in Virginia before I finally figured out how to do it. And last, and probably worst, the maps seem very out of date. The date on the box of the software said 2002, yet the maps did not have the Midpoint Bridge in Fort Myers, Florida, which opened in October of 1997. "Streetfinder" made "Streets and Trips" look good.

Works well for me!
I use the Deluxe version on an XP platform and it works quite well. Areas that were poorly mapped in previous versions were updated, and features were upgraded. I work in commercial real estate and when mapping the buildings for my customers, it always does the trick quickly and well. If you use StreetFinder for planning trips, I have no idea how well it will work, but compared to the other complex and time-consuming mapping software on the market (including REGIS!), StreetFinder performs as promised.

Not On XP
This runs fine on our other windows systems but refuses to plan anything over a 40 mile trip on the XP system we bought it for. The "tecnical support" help was NOT--they basically said, "too bad, how sad..." If you plan to run this on Windows XP, make sure you save all of your boxes and receipts! ... Read more
