Best "Little" Program on the Market
I really love my Astrology Source program and find I use it more often than my expensive SolarFire software. For a daily check of transit aspects, and the swift movement of inner planets through houses, the Astrology Source can't be beat. I find that my high end software can give "too much information" to use everyday.

The interpretations are lacking in depth, and a good book (Planets in Transit/Robert Hand) is indispensable for adequate comprehension of important events; but this is the program where you will notice these events, as its ease of use means it is likely it will get used!

Yes, it needs the patch offered at the M-2K website to work with birth times after noon. (extract zipped file to M-2K astrology source in program files, then "yes to all" to overwrite old files) Without the patch, PM birth times will mysteriously switch to AM, but this little program is certainly worth its modest price.

NOT MAC OS
I haven't heard back from either the seller of this CD nor the actual software developer, but, I just received the CD in the mail today and I'm angry that it's advertised as MAC OS compatible..... it is NOT! I can't open any of the files and there's no "install" file. Just a lot of files that my MAC G4 on OS 9.2 can't open. What a hoax!

I can tell you where to get good software
For really awesome software get in touch with microcycles....Solarfire is a very good program...do not waste your time on cheap software....microcycles will talk to you about what your software needs are...get programs that you can build upon and grow with....I am an astrologer....I have gone the path of cheap programs only to be disappointed....microcycles has great support and prices.........

Astrology Source rocks
They've fixed the AM/PM bug a couple of other reviewers noticed, so the new version works great. Lots of options including Placidus, Koch, or Equal House systems, set your own orb size, natal horoscopes, daily horoscopes, etc. Plus it's very simple to use.

astrology for entertainment
For a fun and entertaining look at astrology,I found this CD ROM adequate. It contains information on celebrities including, Harrison Ford, Madonna, Marilyn Monroe, Al Gore, and Albert Einstein, just to name a few. I enjoyed comparing their charts and was not surprised to find out Madonna is a Leo.

I must agree with a previous review. There was inaccurate information in my chart and the evening birth times often come up as AM. A book of instructions and perhaps a beginner's manual would be very helpful for anyone with a more than an entertainment interest in charting the stars. ... Read more

Total 3d - only if it stays up
evidently the problems with version 6 (and 5 and 4 and 3) aren't resolved in Version 7. I've had this thing 1 day and it's crashed 4 times! Actually "crash" isn't the term, since it just goes away. No error messages, no warnings, just closes out. I haven't been able to relate the problem to any action on my part - I seem to be doing different things each time it bombs. Looking to return it. ... I am sorry, I was disappointed with this software. Maybe my expectations were unreasonable but I thought there just wasn't a lot to this software. After reviewing it for 15 minutes with my wife there was nothing left to do with it but shelf it.

I thought it would be useful to track shots etc. but we were given a booklet (looks like a passport sort of) to record shots etc. As far as tracking milestones, maybe I will use this software but I don't see myself digging out the CD to update a date in the milestones list. Couldn't this application fit on a hard drive? Is the disk required to prevent piracy?

I did not like the fact that I had to enter the same information more than once (birthday, name, etc.)

I imagine there is a subscription service Internet site that would have been a better buy for me, I would rather have a web based information resource for the progress of my baby than this small database of dates with a semi-cute front end.

I love baby matters
A friend gave me baby matters when I had my son Leo. Both myself and my husband have really enjoyed keeping track of his development. The software has been a great tool in assisting us as new parents and it makes me feel secure that I have it to keep his records organized. I am definately getting this product for my other friends who have babies.

fantastic and easy to use
I have been collecting model cars for over twenty years and have more cars than I can possibly keep track off. I often have to move and I am always concerned about losing my cars as well as reorganizing my collection after I settle in. I use the SAFE software to easily catalog my collection so that I'll never have to worry. Plus I can print out a record and see which cars I have so that I don't buy two of the same cars!

organization was never so easy
I move around a lot and I'm always worried about losing warranties and important information about my electronics. I also collect crystal pieces that are very valuable. SAFE allows me to keep all that information in one spot in case anything happens. Its also really easy.

Review of SAFE Home Inventory
This is one of those products that you don't realize you need until you start using it. I always figured that if my house burned to the ground, insurance would cover anything in my house...that is, if I could remember what I had...which is next to impossible. SAFE Home Inventory lets me keep track of all my stuff, not just jewelry and furniture. I thought the program was easy to use, especially since it comes with example items so you can see how it works (very helpful!). I really like the fact that I can add pictures, save all of my inventory to a CD, and then put the CD in my safe-deposit box. The program includes some very nice report features so I can see how much all of my stuff is worth (or just certain items, like my music collection). Definitely worth the money. ... Read more

Poorly Designed User Interface
We've used Delomre's Street Atlas software in our business on a daily basis since Version 4 (1996?). Upgrading to each new version was a no-brainer since we were happy with how easy it was to use. However, when Delorme redesigned the interface with Street Atlas USA 2003, we continued using the older (version 9) edition. The interface is non-intuitive and extremely difficult to use. Other comments here describe the problems well. In addtion to the interface, we found the software to be innacurate. For some reason many of the routes are wrong. Sometimes it will not allow you to cross a railroad crossing on certain routes and will route you around it. No matter how much you try with VIAs you cannot make it cross certain railroad crossing. In addition, we found that sometimes it routes you off an interstate, and back on at the next intersection. It appears that it thinks you can't go on I-80 westbound at certain cities. As a result, the software is just plain unreliable. Numerous contacts with Delorme's support desk and product manager has resulted in no resolution. Product manager refuses to acknowledge. DO NOT BUY THIS PRODUCT!!!

Primitive Software
Having worked in the IT industry for the better part of a decade, I consider myself fairly adept at navigating software. Almost nothing in this application is designed for easy, quick, or intuitive use and the help feature is of very limited value.

I purchased SA 2004 Plus primarily for being able to upload multiple addresses from a spreadsheet and then computing the most efficient route. While the software does technically perform this function, the user interface is just so incredibly counter-intuitive that as a practical matter it was nearly impossible to get a route computed. We retained the software for a few months hoping that familiarity would breed usability. It did not. We switched to the less expensive Microsoft Streets & Trips and have been very happy since. It is very disappointing to see a respectable firm such as Delorme deploy such a primitive product.

Very disappointing!
I rarely have trouble using software. (I'm an IT person, so these things should come easily for me, right?)

This goofy (can't think of a better word) user interface is throwing me for a loop. I don't think DeLorme knows the definition of the word "intuitive". Almost every feature I've tried to use is a mystery until I look in the help file. The features all seem to be there, but with all the work involved in finding out how to use them, this is going to be a long, painful project.

I travel for my company, and setup and troubleshoot remote offices. My original plan was to both use the product for route-planning, and create useful interactive maps for reference (click on a remote site, and up pops all their information). I still think I will be able to do this, but no longer have any illusions about knocking it out in an afternoon. Maybe in my spare time over several weeks.....

A colleague recently showed me Microsoft MapPoint 2002. What a difference! Intuitive, easy to use, and predictable with normal pull-down menus instead of these weird tabs that just get in the way. It even downloads updated road-construction information over the internet to help plan your routes.

MapPoint is expensive, and doesn't have the same feature set (really overkill for me), but the DeLorme folks should buy a copy and start taking some UI design pointers. ... Read more

We wanted to like this software, at least for the promise mentioned on its cover: "Better Decisions. Better Relationships. Less Stress." Who wouldn't want those things? Software based on the I Ching has limitless possibilities, allowing simplicity to be brought to this ancient means of self-realization. Again, the software promised thousands of readings of the I Ching, in versions that are "poetic, relevant and non-sexist." With academic interviews tossed in for good measure, it would seem like a package most could benefit from.

The problem lies in the execution: tinny, MIDI-like music, for example (Peruvian flutes being the best, the option for adding "Random Frogs" the worst). The choice of warm earth tones for the image palette was a good one, as was the strong black border, which transforms the ordinary white space of computers that normally house Microsoft Word documents and Web search engines. But ultimately, it's the small things that disappoint: the interview with a professor where the narrator sits in front of what appears to be a cubicle wall, for example, or the smallness of the font in the book's layout.

As a chance to take a break, breathe, and think about life's choices, The Oracle of Changes could prove quite useful. But as a gift to a friend in need, or to yourself, you'd be best off curling up with a copy of the book itself, in any of its many translations. --Jennifer Buckendorff ... Read more

A Big Wish List
Wishes:
1. I wish I could enter the results I got using the yarrow stalk method into the program, and have it prepare the report.
2. I wish the report could be "saved as" in a format that popular word processor programs could open and edit.
3. As The Tarot program of his allows you to use different decks, and select different elements in the prepared report, I wish different translations of the I Ching were available in the program, and could be selected in the report.
4. I view the I Ching as the "Urim and Thummim" and the "Ephod" used by Moses, Joshua, Kings David and Solomon, and the only way to make Jesus's Biblical statements about prayer work every time.
5. I pray this way a lot; I've found using 12" bamboo skewers to be the best for me; I wish I had a program such as this.
6. Where does he get the artists?

It could be better
In fact, at one time, it WAS better. The same people that produced this version had a much better one back when they published their DOS version years ago. I had hoped for something approaching that excellent package--and in truth, this one approaches it, but doesn't quite reach it.

In the minus column, you have to run it from the CD. I truly dislike software that makes me do that. They seem to have loaded it up with features I don't want or need, including music that is distracting and graphics that, while nice, don't really add to the I Ching readings.

In the plus column, however, those graphics are really beautiful and they're very well done. The readings are fine, especially if you have a copy of one of the I Ching volumnes handy to shed a little more light on the subject. I am not convinced that these readings are as insightful as those on the original DOS package, but these generally outshine other computer generated I Ching readings.

If not for the need for the CD every time I run it, I'd give this one four stars--but the CD requirement is an annoyance I'd rather do without. I'll use it, but not as often as I would otherwise.

The Oracle of Changes
This is a fun interactive oracle that is also informative and can be helpful to some degree.. It has alot of great wisdom in it. However if you looking for serious answers to a specific issue in your life, I suggest you develop your own intuitive abilities and learn the tarot for more in depth results.

Which I could rate this with 10 stars
When I first encountered the Oracle of Changes in the free online version I was dubious that anyone could develop a useful computerized way to cast an I Ching reading. I was intrigued with how useful, practical, and on-target the readings were that I was receiving. Since there were certain advantages to purchasing the CD-ROM over using the free online version I decided to buy the CD-ROM. I love this product. It was very easy to install and works just like it was supposed to work. The one thing I love best is the new translation used for this I Ching oracle. It is one of the best and most insightful translations I have ever seen. The one advantage is that it's not just a literal translation from Chinese into English, but a very poetic one that helps you to interpret this classic of Chinese wisdom. For myself, since I can't carry my computer around with me everywhere, I would love to see the developers of this software publish this translation in a book that I would carry around with me anywhere that I could toss a few coins. If this book would contain a literal translation of the I Ching along with the interpretive translation included on the CD-ROM I think it could become one of the best I Ching books out there. I would certainly purchase this book if they ever developed it.

Great pick for the novice or expert!
As a physician, columnist and lecturer (on natural health and spiritual systems), I am always searching for new presentations of ancient material. The Oracle of Changes CD is a refreshing take... and wondered why no one had done this sooner! I found the music soothing (perhaps a decent set of speakers is best for the full effect). I enjoyed the rendering of the 'cave of the oracle' I entered and the 'pool of reflection' I "sat" in front of to begin the reading. Realistic hands throw the coins for you 6 times and the lines appear on the screen. The artwork that accompanied each hexagram is full of imagery and purpose (longtime students of the I Ching may recognize the deeper meanings). The explanation of the hexagrams and line changes is given by a VERY soothing and clear female voice. Bonuses: The CD allows the user to save the answers in a journal for later reference. You can type in the number of any hexagram in stead of a question and get to that answer without a full reading. The CD also allows yarrow or coin toss odds; it's the user's choice. A great pick! ...
