All you need to get started with your makeover is a photo and a PC. Import yourpicture to your computer using a scanner, digital camera, or photo CD. As for makeup options, Digital Makeover lets you experiment with tons oflipstick, eye shadow, blush, and foundation shades to help you find your perfectpalette. I would give it 10 stars if I could!
This program rocks. Don't let other people fool you by sayingit doesn't look real when you do a makeover. It looks totally real and if you want to find out what you look like as a blond, buy this game! Also this game has many choices of hairstyles and accecories. And if you buy this game, you get free downloads and updates for it... Oh and just one thing! The picture of you you put into the ym makeover, DON'T have it be a polaroid pic, it makes it blurry. Just use a regular camera or a one-time used one. Oh and if you want to have a really big laugh, put in photos of celebs!

this is not the greatest program in the world
It is fine if you are just playing but if you really want to see what you look like and really fool them that this isn't the real you, this is not the program you are looking for. If you just want to have some fun then go ahead. It is sort of.

Upset!
A while a go my family got an upgrade on our computer, I was upset to find that this program does not work on our upgrade. I wish that they would make an upgraded version that works on ME!!!
It is a great program. I use it on myself and freinds. I give this program a 4 on overall preformance, not on compatibilty.

This is a SAMPLER - curious to read about Delux vs.
Although importing and adjusting picture to fit styles was easy, it only had 30 styles. Out of the 30 only 2 really were what I was looking for. The Long selection only had 2, there were 3 bridal "up do's" and for short - the selection was slim. It was a good "sampler" or "teaser" for getting something you could really use, but not useful once you got it. More selection of regular styles would have suite me better. ...Good Luck.

An easy way to make a change - Give it a try!
I love this software! I was stuck with the same hairsytle for years because I was too scared to change it for fear of what I would look like and because I had no idea of what to change it to! This software gave methe opportunity to try new looks instantly! I was then able to print outthe style I liked, take it to a hairdresser and have the confidence to gothrough with the cut! I was quite disappointed that this package is so limited in hair styles (only 20), has crippled functionality, and is not upgradeable. Code like this should be available on trial basis for free, and when you like the application, you buy the real package. This package should not be for sale.The application is quite limited and not upgradable. Sure you can go totheir site and download new hair styles and accessories but you can't usethem with this package. And they only tell you this as a disclaimer in theprinted instructions within the CD. There's nothing about this on their website or the CD's box. The package comes with only 20 styles, so it'll takeyou all of 1 hour max to play with them. After that you're stuck. Manyoptions, simple ones such as "Print" are disabled and you get amessage to upgrade to the next version.

Don'tbuy this product. Do the demo on their web site and you'll get roughly thesame experience.

I purchased iStyleinstead. Sure it's more expensive, but you get 500 hair styles. I don'tlike this company's marketing style.

you get what you pay for
This being the cheapest version, I didn't expect it to be great. The scanned pictures of myself came out with multi colored lines so dominant that I was unable to really tell what the hairstyles would look like. Cosmo Makeover Yourself!
This game is okay if you like to play around with looks. It'd be better if you had more makeup choices, or other brands. The hairstyle choices are wide ranged but some hairstyles are hideous! If you are buying this game to make-over yourself be sure to have a digital camera of some sort or it won't be much fun. The other versions of the game are pretty good to as well because you can do more, but this game sells pretty cheap so if you are looking for a simple makeover then try out this orginal makeover game!

Pretty Good Overall
My sister and I bought this software, mostly for fun, but also to try out new looks. It was pretty easy to set up and use. As for complaints that it moved slowly, we didn't find that to be the case at all. The hardest part was getting the picture of my face lined up just right. Other than that, the Cosmopolitan Makeover software has been a success. I highly recommend it. Besides trying out hairstyles, it's just fun to mess with pictures of your family.

Seventeen Style Studio
I bought this for my 9 year old and she was able to use it without any difficulties. Very easy to use. The only complaint I have is that we kept having to load her original picture into the program every time she wanted to do a new style on her face, which is not hard to do, but it gets annoying. There was no way to save the original picture in the program. Other than that, it is a great. User friendly, and a lot of fun. Highly recommend.

Great Fun for kids and Adults
This is a great program. This is a fabulous product and all features work buy one: be WARNED.. you can NOT export an image you've created IF you have MAC OS9 on your system. You can still print the image, just can't make it a jpeg or gif file to manipulate. I have contacted Macsoft (they verified that it doesn't work with OS9) and HOPEFULLY they will do as promised and look into making a patch for this export feature. Otherwise, it is a great product and I would recommend it.

Cosmopolitan Virtual Makeover 2
I purchased this program thinking that I would save time, money and heartache by making sure what a hairdo and/or color would look like on ME before taking the final step. There are not actually nearly as many "hairdos" as advertised since the only change may be the bang to the right or the left. The haircolors were totally unrealistic. They resemble that spray on stuff you use at Halloween. As for the makeup section, it's virtually impossible to apply the makeup to the picture in a smooth coverup. It's blotchy to say the least. The only good feature I found was that it was very easy to make the hairdos, hats, glasses, etc fit any picture and it's equally as easy to position the articles. ... Read more

Not much of a sample.
I bought this for my 12-year old daughter and we were both disappointed. We expected some features to be unavailable because it's a sampler version, but practically nothing IS available. You can only create a virtual model and "try on" a few outfits in one color. At least 75% of the features are disabled. We feel deceived. I would not recommend this sampler, because it doesn't let you sample hardly anything.

I ordered this item under the impression that this was the complete game. I thought the only reason it was cheap was because it came in a jewel case, without a box. When I recieved the game it turned out to be a sample only. I was very disappointed. No where does it state in the description that it is a sample. I believe that this is very decieving. Cosmopolitan Virtual Makeover 2002 makes it easy to create a whole new you in minutes. (Just try not to take it too seriously or expect any life-changing transformations.) Installation is quick and easy and the program's interface is clean and easy to navigate, once you click around a bit. The first thing you need to do after installing Cosmopolitan Virtual Makeover is import a headshot of yourself, either from your digital camera or a scanner. The program does come with some standard photos of models you can use, but that's hardly as fun. Getting the photo right is the most difficult part of using this program. You'll need to make sure you're well lit, you're in front of a plain background, your hair is completely pulled back, all your accessories are removed, and the photo is straight on from the front. Any weirdness will potentially make you look freakish.

The best part of this program by far is playing with hairstyles--there are hundreds of styles in just as many colors. While some of the styles are decidedly awful, many are acceptable and even cute. There are some styles that might be suitable for men, but only if the guy wants to look like a member of the Strokes. The makeup section is clunkier to use and slightly less practical--we found it hard to make any of the makeup choices look natural.

It should also be pointed out that most of this program seems to be paid for by sponsors, so your choices for, say, jewelry, are limited to the one company that wanted to pay for placement. Incidentally, the box is loaded with so many coupons, flyers, and ads that you might wonder why you're even paying for the product at all.

I should know
I got the virtual makeover software as a gift it's fun.It does leave room for improvement. Great job guys keep working on it, you should probably just give more choices.It's fun for all ages. you can check out what you would've looked like if 1 or many things were a little, or alot different. All you have to do is load you're picture into the software. Or if you want you can just fix up one of the models already provided. It makes a great gift for any occasion.

It works great for me!
I didn't have any problem installing the software and using it. I must say I am thrilled with all the features it has, especially for haircuts. And also - the fashion makeover is a remarkable plus as compared with other versions.
I don't know why for other people it didn't work, it may have been an incompatibility with their platform.

Not as bad as people make it out to be
I bought this program for my girlfriend who loves to do makeovers. Functionally, it is great. She loves it, except for the fact that the "downloads" portion of the software does not work due to discontinuation. It looks like it never worked. I think that is very misleading and the programmers should follow through with their promise. But, all of the complaints about - this didnt work or that didnt work or I got this error - a majority of the problems are probably with their pc's and something they have loaded conflicting. It happens, I am a computer tech, so I see it all the time. This was installed on my laptop for her and her desktop with not 1 problem at all. I highly recommend.

Worthless
I bought this for my wife. She wanted to see herself with
different(shorter)hairstyles. She said she would have been better off with a photograph and a crayon. Parts of the program didn't work at all. Some of the features didn't work at all.
The web site doesn't work.

Worst software of all time
My experience is very similar to the person from NM: I had the first version a long time ago, wasn't happy with its sluggish performance and silly interface. But the 2003 version was on sale -- "free" after rebate -- so I said what the heck. I was still appalled by its poor design and implementation. Installation actually gave an error and crashed the first time! I restarted my PC and the second time it installed. But the program is just as slow as the first version. Things just aren't responsive. Help is no help. Really bad program.

Watch out!
I bought 5 copies to use in my high school Family and Consumer Sciences course dealing with personal style. (The school district purchased around 50) The students were able to apply measuring skills as well as design principles due to its feature of preparing a virtual model. This was very helpful until the virtual model (based on the student's measurements) shed all of her clothes. She was anatomically correct with all of the features of a nude adult female . The males in the class suddenly became very motivated to assist their female classmates while the females turned their screens to the wall, thinking this was a standard part of the software. Many had put their pictures on the model to further personalize the model. I was especially shocked when the manufacturer was clueless regarding this surprise feature. Watch out! ... Read more
