2-0 out of 5 stars Poor amateurish job.
Yeah! If you are too lazy to read VERY GOOD documentation that comes with FCP4 and have ABSOLUTELY NO IDEA what NLE systems are, it is for you. Technically it is very poor, amateurish video. They should learn themselves how to use Final Cut , not to teach other. All recordings have a jumpy unbalanced and unabridged audio. In the first two lessons guys probably have played with some effects, to figure out what Final Cut is. The text on the package states that he is "professional editor", LOL. I would not be trust him to edit my vacation footage, the word "professional" n our time has many interpretations .
In the second lesson there is missing sub-lesson.
Video jumpy and poorly synchronized with sound. In some places it looks like a jock, the lips moves in almost second after the word was sounded.
The lessons are full with common bla-bla-bla, near third of lessons are "introductions" of any sort.
I found that FREE lessons on AVID website with approximation to FCP are more helpful AND WORLDS BEYOND PROFESSIONALLY.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy Quick Start to a Very Deep Program
Anyone using or wanting to use Final Cut Pro 4.0 should seriously consider investing in Magnet Media's tutorial series Inside Final Cut Pro. The DVD is packed with live video demonstrating step-by-step the basic operations, interface navigation and advanced techniques you'll want to use whether you are a hobbyist or professional videographer. I found the samples to be pertinent and the instruction straight forward.

The Video begins with an overview of the interface. Despite the fact that I've used FCP 1.25 through 3.0, I found new insights into how to better utilize FCP and its core features with this section. The lessons are taught by Evan Schectman, a professional editor and the founder of Outpost Digital, and I found him to be warm and without the arrogance and elitism of many editor/teachers. I understoood most lessons the first time through. Others, such as the concept of "nesting" and the Pro-audio features I have watched a few times through. Again, this is another benefit of this type of learning. You never have to reread anything. You simply replay the lesson as often as you need to. The learning feedback is simple and painless.

One tip-despite the fact that the DVD only runs on a Mac with a dvd drive-the files on the DVD are readable on a PC equipped with a DVD drive and quicktime (although trying to figure out which files are which can be a challenge) - I used this methed often to following along with Evan when things got complicated - worked like a charm.

Some other features covered are color-correction (fantastic overview with practical applications) compositing and animation, for those that wish to stay exclusively in FCP with out straying to the likes of After Effects or Combustion - Introductions to Soundtrack and Livetype, both new applications within the FCP 4.0 suite.

Overall I was impressed and thoughly pleased with my experience with Magent Media's Training. I believe this is the future of self-education in the video editing realm. Books can be cumbersome and time consuming. With Magnet medias Inside Final Cut Pro, you have an all-in-one instructor on a disc you can pull out for a refresher anytime you wish. And you never have to leave your house to get it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Training & Exceptional Value
This is an efficient and comprehensive way to get up to speed on Final Cut Pro 4. The instructor is clear and thorough and the examples are tremendously helpful. Best of all - it includes 7 hours of taining.

I learned more with this Inside Editing DVD than I have in many courses and weekend workshops I've taken.

I highly recommend this training DVD for anyone - from beginner to advanced - who wants to become a master at Final Cut Pro 4. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than a lot of comparably priced packages!
Sure, we aren't talking stock photography from Getty Images or Corbis here, but for the price you are paying you shouldn't be under that sort of illusion.

What you do get is a package of more photos than you will ever use in your lifetime of more things than you ever imagined you would want to use in an ad or flyer.

With the work I do as a graphic designer for a corporation I constantly need to have images to put in print media. While I grant that the images provided are not large, they are provided in a high resolution format, and are perfect for creating composite pieces, powerpoint graphics, online graphics and smaller print media. Sure, I'm not going to use them in a major ad campaign - but by using these for the smaller works I free up my budget so that I have the money to use the big stock photography suppliers when I NEED fantastic crisp images.

Worth buying as a suppliment - definitely. Should you rely on this as your only source of photographs - of course not.

2-0 out of 5 stars Good for basic objects
Don't buy this product if you are looking for professional photographic results. Many of the objects are repeated and the photographs are not usable. I use it to produce pictures for preschoolers. They don't mine out of focus pictures. I do regret buying this product.

2-0 out of 5 stars Poor Quality Graphics
Not worth the money...Poor quality graphics, some looked chopped on the edges.... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Powerful Video Editing
Reviewing a program like Media Edit Pro is a tough slog. Not because of any shortcomings of the program but because it was completely different from what I expected. Perhaps a brief description of the review process is in order. What I review is stuff that interests me, and I'm interested in Movies. So when I saw a press release for Media Edit Pro I thought "Hey, Here's a movie editor more robust than iMovie but cheaper than Final Cut Express, that's something I'd like to try." A couple of e-mails later and I had a copy. I installed Media Edit Pro (which is growing tiresome to type so I'll truncate the title to MEP in future references) with no problems. then I downloaded and installed the update. Still a problem free experience. Found some footage to play with and fired up the program to give MEP it's first test run. Big Problem.

The problem wasn't with the program, it just wasn't what I was expecting. I expected a simple but more robust movie editing program, I was wrong. The program is called Media Edit Pro for a reason and the reason is that MEP is not just a movie editing program (one assumes the author put more thought in the title than I did when I read it) but a full fledged media editing program (hence the text). That means pretty much any media you care to mess with. I only care to mess with video stuff so I'm sticking to the video side, but from the little I know about audio and stills it seems that MEP would be quite capable in that department. Let's hit the easy stufff right now, MEP includes plenty of effects and transitions and you do have complete titling control. But there's more to MEP than being just a beefier copy of iMovie, much more.

Say you want to pull off the effect from the beginning of Saving Private Ryan/ Gladiator. You remember that extra violent fog-o-war feeling. You can't do it with iMovie, it's just not possible out of the box. It's no big trick with MEP. To be honest there's not a lot you can't do to video footage with MEP. You can do titles any way you wish, move the audio around, add a single frame or a thousand, paint. Paint? Did I say paint, let's look back... It appears I did say paint. Well that's okay because you can paint directly on your video using the painting tools. It's a more useful feature than you might think. This might have you wondering "If I can paint, does this mean I can apply other image editing techniques to my movie?" Wonder no longer, the answer is yes. You want to mask the video? No problem. You want to apply an effect to just a region of the movie (you know a specific selected area)? Again no problem. Think of it, you can add cool effects to just, say, half the visible video. People familiar with imaging editing programs will be able to go nutso crazy with the included tools and mere mortals like I can still have a pants load of fun.

How powerful is MEP? I don't know. I know it can handle anything I can throw at it but I only have limited video editing experience. Could a super slick director take MEP to it's limits? I would bet the answer is yes. At least I think they could, you see MEP also includes brush editor to make your own brushes. These aren't just static brushes, these are special cool movie brushes. Even more intriguingly MEP includes something called RBscript. This is well beyond my ability to use but I suspect that in the right hands it could be a very powerful tool. With the ability to script stuff I conclude that MEP is limited more by the user than the program.

The last question to ponder: what do I give up if I ditch iMove and start using MEP? Well, MEP does everything iMovie does as well as plenty of other neat stuff I haven't mentioned (for example: you can set the dimensions of the movie). MEP offers a great deal of creative control and for those of you who don't want to shell for Final Cut Express but need more than iMovie this is the best alternative I've run across. MEP is very powerful, very original and very very cool. In addition to all the aforementioned goodness MEP includes a printed manual (becoming a rarity, but helpful with a program as original as MEP) and a very cool sticker.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy to use! Nothing I've ever seen

1-0 out of 5 stars Picture It 2002 UK edition
Using win2k pro operating system. Program will load ok, but trying to use it is hopeless, when trying to access clip art it asks for alternating CD's(the ones with clipart on them)but never recognizing either.Importing photos it just crashes with runtime errors. It didnt even load with ME or 98 either except once, when it slowed the computer to 286 speed(remember those).Cant get money back from supplier so £32 in Mr Gates's pocket !!

1-0 out of 5 stars ***DON'T BUY IT****
This program has issues. As I'm not a computer programmer, but have install many applications on to my desk top. Picture it software, will not install correctly. On my initially installation, when trying to launch the program, I too receive error after error. I proceeded to uninstall and reinstall and no luck. I was really excited about this program, because of the Newsletter application. However, instead disappointed that I was not able to use the software. To those of you who research 1st, and buy 2nd, stay away from MicroSoft Picture IT.

1-0 out of 5 stars Picture It! Too Much Of A Technical Hassle
This program is difficult to use with Windows 98. Freezes, crashes and error messages are not uncommon. I spent an hour and a half on the phone with the Microsoft Help desk, and even they couldn't get the program running. The Help Desk admitted to me other users have had problems. There is some inherent coding glitch. While the graphics are beautiful, it just wasn't worthe the money or the effort.

4-0 out of 5 stars it was good when it worked
I had the program installed. Then all of a sudden it said the program was corrupted. I tried to reinstal the progrm and itwon't install. Maybe I got a bad cd but the rest of the works 2002 suite installed perfectly. If you use this program get ready for anything can happen.

4-0 out of 5 stars Seems great for a photo editing novice like myself
I am not the most experienced with photo editing programs, but Picture It seems great. They have an abundance of things you can do with photos and an abundance of things you can create with photos. I use this as my scanning software as well. It has functionality for digital cameras, but I haven't tried that yet. The other reviewers that I have read have had installation problems. My software came already installed on my new Windows XP computer, so I didn't have to install it. I haven't had any problems or error messages. It may just be that it doesn't play well with older operating systems. ... Read more

I've never had more fun with a computer program than I've had with Funhouse. Just add a face to one of the numerous templates, make a few clicks, and you've got a laught till your cry masterpiece. I especially like to program's ability to automatically match the complexion of the added face to the template. I've been doing projects with pics of my coworkers and they've loved them. Beginning with the release of Windows 95, Microsoft has made a habit of augmenting each new operating system with an add-on package of assorted enhancements and goodies. The latest such supplement to come to market is Microsoft Plus! for Windows XP, a collection of graphic and audio utilities, rudimentary games, screen savers, and desktop themes specifically designed for users of Microsoft's latest and most robust OS. But whereas the Windows 95 and Windows 98 Plus! editions blended several genuinely useful applications such as disk management tools and virus checkers with the usual stable of multimedia tweaks, Plus! for Windows XP offers more fluff than substance. Although newbies will undoubtedly find much of the collection quite compelling, veteran users may not be so impressed.

The program is divided into four distinct categories--Digital Media, Games, Screen Savers, and Themes--each of which may be accessed through a single, convenient graphical interface. Of these, the Digital Media component is clearly the deepest and most interesting. Its handy utilities include an MP3 audio converter for transforming disk-hogging WAV and MP3 files into space-efficient WMA format, a music playlist organizer known simply as Personal DJ, an exceedingly capable CD label maker, 20-plus Media Player skins, and three animated Media Player visualizations (including one culled from the Xbox game Oddworld: Munch's Oddysee).

Music and video fans in particular will immediately gravitate to the Voice Command for Windows Media Player module, which allows users to operate most Media Player functions by issuing verbal commands into their computer microphone. Even when faced with garbled enunciation and loud background music, Voice Command faithfully recognizes commands such as "Volume Up" and "Pause." Sadly, Microsoft's seemingly innovative Speaker Enhancement tool is ultimately little more than a glorified tone control that often hinders rather than improves the sound of your speakers.

Of the three games included in the package, the most intriguing is Russian Square, a deceptively addictive puzzle affair that plays like a one-dimensional offspring of Tetris and Rubik's Cube. Far less involving are the arcade bowling knock-off HyperBowl and the three-dimensional Labyrinth, a virtual take on the real-life game that involves a tilting table, metal ball, and lots of ball-gobbling holes. Eight animated screen savers and four desktop themes complete the package, the most notable of which is the stunningly lifelike and absolutely gorgeous underwater screen saver called "Aquarium." Otherwise, the program's themes and screen savers are no better than those that can be downloaded free of charge from various Web sites.

With Plus! for Windows XP, Microsoft has assembled a multipronged mixture of useful and not-so-useful multimedia tools and lighthearted amenities into one easily accessible compilation. If you aren't the type to scout around the Internet for individual components and feel the need to spruce up your XP audio-video environment, it may be for you. --Gordon Goble ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars "A" Plus!?... Well.........................
If your computer meets the minimum specs, yes even those in tiny print, then you will most likely enjoy the enhancements this adds to your computer. Missing that 16 MB video card, don't bother with Plus!.

Like screensavers? What about 3-D? How about trying 3-D Screensavers! Plus! pack will add these new screensavers onto your computer and let the fun begin as you watch fish swim in a realistic aquarium or a circus type scene play before your eyes...

If you're a gamer, the bowling game is GREAT... The only problem is that it is a light edition, so to unlock its full functionality you'll have to pay! The labyrinth game is great and quite difficult to do, will keep you playing for hours!

The themes are good if you use themes... Remember that space theme from ME? Its back in a revamped fashion! Also there are themes for an aquarium and some other interesting ones... Personally I don't like the themes!

The new enhancements to Media Player are OK, but are not really worth the difficulty of configuring. Do you really want to give commands to your computer with your voice? Catch a cold, and this functionality won't work anyway...

Overall this is an OK package, but not one that I would spend the money on. After buying this, I was sorry... I won't make the same mistake again!

2-0 out of 5 stars Non functional without downloads, Not worth the hassle
Just bought it not worth the hassle

Its not very functional without tonnes of MS downloads so dont buy it if you have a 56kb modem like me. I dont want to have to download a tonne of updates, I want functional out of the box.

Product Activation should not be on products this cheap, its a waste of my time. I have no problem with activation on Windows and Office because theyre high value products and at least you get to try them out before activating... This though is a hassle.

The digital music converion program only converts to WMA, I expect at least one alternative format such as WAV or MP3. Bad software in a pretty box.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great program
I don't really use most of the programs in this package...except Photo Story. Photo Story is incredible! I have done video CDs for my parents' wedding anniversary, seniors graduating from high school (we have two seniors in our private school and will use the stories at graduation), a teacher appreciation banquet, etc. Just hook your DVD player to a projector, and voila! You're ready to go. The ability to add music really makes the stories moving. My only complaint is that you are limited to one music track, so if the story is long, the song just repeats itself over and over. Hopefully, with the next upgrade, they'll add the ability to use more than one music track. That's the only improvement I see that it needs. Great for creating memories for your family and friends!

4-0 out of 5 stars Want more themes?
If you want lots of themes you can try TGT softs Style XP.
Style XP gave me lots of themes and can be found at

2-0 out of 5 stars not really a must...
Although many of its stuff are pretty fun to use and creative, but after all, it is not really a "must" have item. and though its only 18 bucks, still seems a bit expensive for its actual usage. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars PictureIt!=DontBuyIt!
I bought PictureIt! for two reasons. I wanted the ability to categorize my photos and the ability to do simple photo editing. This software does neither task very well.

Organizing my photographs was a slow and difficult process. Adding a single picture to the gallery takes 5 steps. I would expect a folder "windows-style" approach where I could add pictures to different folders and then add meta-data about the folder. Not only is organizing pictures with this software both counter-intuitive and time consuming, but after I had added pictures to a gallery and saved, when I returned to the same gallery my pictures were no longer there. In other words, the gallery didn't retain what I had put into it.

The photo-editing part of PictureIt!, is simplistic, but so much so that editing is a very imprecise affair. There are easy buttons for reducing snow or scratches, for example, but it is very difficult to navigate precisely using the zoom feature, so that "real" editing is hard to do. I still have PhotoShop4.0 somewhere so I will go back to it. My guess is that Microsoft intended this to be THE picture tool for the new digital camera enthusiast. Unfortunately in the process of letting human factors make this simple to use, they also made it counter-intuitive and overly complicated for doing simple things. They need a better human factors group to design this product.

I am hoping that PictureIt!=ReturnIt!.
If not my advices is PictureIt!=DontBuyIt!

1-0 out of 5 stars SOOOO Frustrating
I am so frustrated with this product!!! I have spent approximately 6 hours today to get this **** software to print a photo on a is barely acceptable and it was so hard to get it to that point. Very little instruction/advice assuming that there is a better way to do this. I am looking for another product to do some simple photo publishing.

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS SOFTWARE
This program is very slow (so slow that any serious photo applications are un-doable). If you just want to print your photo with a fancy border around it or print a calendar it is OK. But do not try to print multiple photos to a sheet - you can easly spend more than an hour to accomplish it. The program acts as if it is the boss of the world - for example it makes it very difficult to do something as simple as shutting it down when you are tired of waiting and want to quit in frustration). It is useless for anything but the simplest printing of photos.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Even Close To Adobe Elements
I used Microsoft Picture It for 2 years, and recently purchased Adobe Photoshop Elements. There's no comparison! I wish I had switched to Elements a long time ago. Picture It downfalls include:

- Poor quality JPG images

- A memory leak that that caused the Picture-It to slow down with each file save, with the delay becoming several minutes after about 5 file saves.

- Painfully slow when displaying thumbnail images when choosing a new file.

I purchased Adobe Elements for about ... a month ago. What a difference! The program loads files faster, performs modifications faster, has many more special effects filters, and doesn't slow down with each file save. Thank you, Adobe! Good bye, Microsoft!

3-0 out of 5 stars Dissapointed
I thought I would be able to do great things with this software, but it does little more than what comes with Kodak Picture CD - it just takes longer. I had problems with it crashing that turned out to be a conflict with Norton Antivirus. To be fair, I haven't spent a lot of time trying to become more familiar with the program. I haven't found it to be very intuitive. ... Read more

Mixed-media professionals such as photographers, Web designers, andgraphic designers will not be disappointed in Adobe's latest incarnation ofPhotoshop. In this release, Adobe aims hard at addressing the issues of filemanagement, easy photo retouching, and smarter output for the Web. While Adobemanages to successfully address these issues, it also remains true to its photoediting roots. New and improved features and tools such as a painting option andan enhanced brush palette allow Photoshop to build on its reputation as theleading tool for image manipulators. New-school designers of wirelessapplications will smile when they discover that Photoshop 7.0 offers support forWBMP-formatted graphics.

Photoshop 7.0's new file management system comes in the form of a WindowsExplorer-like file browser that allows users to easily sort and locate theirimages within various projects. Users can now organize projects by name, date, resolution, and a number of additional parameters.

The enhanced brush palette allows users to create custom brushes and save themas presets that can be accessed from the Tools options bar. Users can easilyvary different aspects of the brush by changing the hue, opacity, or flow of thebrushes for pastels, oils, and charcoal. Photoshop 7.0 also introduces a newHealing Brush and Patch Tool. With these tools, users can easily "heal" theirimages by removing scratches, blemishes, and other imperfections whilepreserving shading, lighting, and texture attributes.

Adobe has taken great strides in revamping Photoshop 7.0 to be more Web-readythan ever before. With the help of its companion software Image Ready, users cannow easily create rollovers and complex navigation bars by using the newRollovers palette. Additional Web-ready features include enhanced Web exportfunctions that allow designers to preview images designed for PDAs and mobilephones in the WBMP format. Users can easily create a slide show of their imagesand post online using the new Web Gallery. People concerned about posting theirimages online can secure their images with the new password protection featurebefore sharing them.

Adobe has finally introduced a long overdue spell checker with wickedmultilingual spell-checking capabilities. A new search and replace featureallows users to search and replace across different layers in the same document.

While Photoshop 7.0 introduces an impressive array of features that allowphotographers, Web designers, and graphic designers to work more effectivelywith Web and wireless devices, it also remains the leading tool for anyoneserious about digital imaging. No other software package provides users with theability to create such high-quality images. --Rich Ting ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Great piece of software, nice update.
Although this update is not as big as the one from 5.5 to 6.0, it is still worth buying. Actually the healing brush/healing patch tool itself is worth the price of the upgrade. When you think of it, how many of us digital photographers would gladly pay that price for a plug-in that helps us fix blemishes, scratches and wrinkles in a couple seconds?

Another nice addition is the file browser. See all your pictures at a glance, rotate them, classify them, rate them, etc. You can also view all the metadata (data added by your digital camera), such as date taken, exposure, color profile, and others.

Adobe also reworked (OK... fixed) Contact Sheet, Web Gallery, and Picture Package. Those actually work now, and they'll do exactly what you want them to. I agree it should have been done right in the first place, but I'm just too happy they are usable now.

Photoshop 7.0 also lets you save your workspace. You can now place all your tabs and windows just the way you like them, and save the positions. I have 3 or 4 different workspaces I toggle through, depending on what I'm working on. This is a huge time saver. Once again, this could have been done before, but I'm glad it finally found its way to Photoshop.

Conclusion: the healing tool itself is worth the price. Think of the rest as a bonus. :)

3-0 out of 5 stars GOOD STUFF, BUT WITH A BIG FLAW
"Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Upgrade" may not offer the kind of price many people would like to see, but there are lots of interesting features. This Upgrade runs fast, and on any Windows OS that is not earlier than '98. Also, both the image-editing tools and the file browser have been enhanced. If you are a photographer, a Web designer, or as the case may be, just interested in digital imaging, the improved colour and pattern simulating tools will make your work easier.
However, you will be disappointed to discover that this 'Photoshop 7.0' delivers a good job only when you work with 8-bit colour. Support for 16-bit colour is almost non-existent! Based on this, I don't regard it as a must-have Upgrade for anyone running 'Photoshop 6'; but that doesn't mean that it is worthless.

1-0 out of 5 stars FILE INFO PROBLEMS

4-0 out of 5 stars Adobe Photoshop 7.0 Upgrade
Photoshop remains my favorite painting program. I'm a Photoshop 6.0 veteran, been using it since it came out, and I've learned my way around pretty well.

As an upgrade, I give 7.0 four stars. Why? There's just not that much more for that extra star. I was expecting a jump in features like the one between versions 5.5 and 6.0. Pretty much, they give you a new tool for repairing photos (this is great and worth it if you're interested in digital photography, of course: but for a web designer, it's useless), a few upgrades, and a prettier interface. As a web designer, I didn't find a whole lot more that's useful, so for the fellow web designers out there, it might not be worth it at all. But for the digital photographer with the extra money, grab it. That brush will probably be very useful to you.

As a new program, without a previous installation of Photoshop, FIVE STARS. GET IT NOW. I can't stress this enough. Photoshop will be worth it if you're looking to do this professionally; it is THE graphic design program out there right now. If you're just a home user that wants to fix up a photo or two, I don't think it's worth the $600+ just for that.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fi ve Stars Adobe Photoshop 7
For the past 3 years, I have been using Adobe Photoshop 2- which I must say, gave me a lot of satisfaction. Very simple to use, of course, but also provides the user with rapid results. The essential functions are there and if you use them properly many aspects of writing a page are taken care of.
With Photoshop 7, new dimensions are achieved. If you already know Adobe 2.0, it is very easy to become familiar with 7.0. Also, the precision and accuracy of the various functions reach a higher level and the additional possibilities leave more flexibility to individual creativity. This powerful software is becoming for me a must in all digital works and I cannot give it less than five stars. Michel Doret ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A step up from Windows Movie Maker2
After reading some of those heavy handed reviews of MediaStudio Pro, I decided to add my comments. Although the program is a bit tricky to learn, once you've mastered the ins and outs it's great. There's a lot of flexibilty for creating FX and transitions, but you may have to read the tutorials and extensive help screens. This is a definite step up from Windows MovieMaker2. It allows you to be much more creative. It's not for those seeking instant editing solutions. It's a great stepping stone from the consumer to real editing world. It also works on my old Pentium II machine! You don't need a $1500 P4 to use this software. It preforms well on windows XP pro. Get the free 'trial' version a judge for yourself.

1-0 out of 5 stars the WORST editor in history
Now, it's rare I hate a single program because I believe
that there is a lot of potential and use in a many apps
around these days, unfortunately this is not the case for
this heinous product. Hate is definitely the apt word I
hold for Media studio pro. It is by far the most frustrating,
confusing, useless video editor on the market today.
How do these people sleep at night by charging so much for
absolute garbage.
People - heed my VEGAS 5.0 instead. I give that
product a heavy endorsement and thoroughly recommend it to
amatuers and professionals alike. It is simply brilliant
and a dream to use - THE WAY VIDEO EDITORS SHOULD BE.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT EDITOR
Its a bit tricky to get a hang of, but this editor is great! You can do just about anything with it that would noramlly cost hundreds more to do on a mac with final cut. It comes with a great video editor, audio editor, and most importantly, video paint. If your film has glistches, or you want to add cool eddfects, such as a lightsaber, or lightning, this is the program to use. Once you get the hang of it, the possibilities are endless!

1-0 out of 5 stars Ulead Media Studio Pro 7.0
I bought it 6 months ago and have yet to produce 1 respectable project. The technical support is non-existant and vague. In fact
I'm attempting another project today and I need updates and patches....ALL the websites are unavailable.
the program itself is WAY too complex and you have to carry out far too many mouse clicks to simply apply and adjust transitions. Transitions are not smooth (Audio & Video).
Ulead says it runs on 98SE,which I originally had, but when I ran into problems, their solution was switch to 2000. I did, it's still finnikey. $450 is now collecting dust. It looks like ADOBE Premiere now! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars An average program and rebate rejected
Photosuite 4 Platinum is rather different from other Roxio products like CD Creator. Other products tend to be top notch. But Photosuite 4 is, in my opinion, very average in the digital photo software world. It is better than some others that are generally trash in my book, but far inferior to others. This is not to say the program is worthless - it isn't. But it has a pretty disorganized interface that is difficult to work through. If you are looking for a really fine program that doesn't require a second mortgage on your house to purchase, I highly recommend Photoshop Elements 2. It is far superior to Photosuite 4 and costs only a little more. Nearly all the features work and Adobe is the best. As a side note, Roxio rejected my rebate even though I used the rebate slip attached to the box and included the only UPC code on the box. They said it was the wrong UPC code, the typical gimmick. I won't mess with them, but I will be reluctant to do business with them again. I still use Photosuite 4 for some things, but only in conjunction with Photoshop Elements.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome - Very Easy To Use
This software works great. Very easy to use. Simple one step for enhancing photos. Easy red eye removal. And lots of cool effects and manual enhancing also.......Five Stars *****

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible product
This is the worst product I have ever bought. I thought that it would be so great because of some of the reviews I had read and it turned out to be a nightmare. I installed the product and it wouldn't work so I called tech support. I was told that I would have to pay $35 to get help after spending almost an hour on hold for which I had to pay for. I feel this is a low rate product designed by lazy people. It is not worth the money or the hassel. FInd something better to spend your money on.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not a great company
I order this product based on all the great reviews from others and now I really regret it. I was unable to get the product to work and so I went to their website to see if I could get it resolved. I was told that I would have to pay $$$ dollars for a technical assistant to help me. I was then put on hold for 45 minutes and no one ever came back to help me . SInce I was also paying for the call I finally hung up. I tried to contact the company via email and they have none. I'm very unhappy with this product and this company. DO NOT BUY!!!!!

1-0 out of 5 stars A complete waste of money
I was happy with MGI PhotoSuite, but after having my hard drive wiped after a crash, I was unable to locate the installation CD. So I bought PhotoSuite 4. Nine times out of ten it takes 5 or more tries to scan a single snapshot. The editing features are considerably less than the earlier product, and I agree with other customers that their product support is non-existent! Given the horrible performance of PhotoSuite 4 and the fact that Roxio's Easy CD Creator is now crashing on computers all over the world, I will avoid wasting my money on anything else from this low-class company! ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Waste of Time & Money
I had the previous edition for Win98 and thought the new edition for WinXP would have fixed the previous problems but it has not. I was able to load the software fine and it runs well, and the pre-designed templates are great! But... it still won't allow you to import digital photos to shapes other than squares/rectangles. So, at least half of the templates are useless unless you enjoy printing the template and manually cutting out the design (star, oval or circle) and putting a hard copy photo behind the shape. Yes, it is more like real scrapbooking, but come on! I know the technology is out there and it is just a matter of layering. Wait until Hallmark wakes up and smells the Elmers and makes a top-knotch scrapbook program... which will hopefully come soon!

2-0 out of 5 stars It's good for graphics but that's about it
It is so frustrating because you can't work a 2 page spread with the two pages side by side. I've only used this for printing out some clip art and/or sayings and such. And when I've used it for a full page layout, it always leaves a 1/2 inch boarder around the edges of white...I know that's a printer issue but it's still annoying. I would never use it for a full page layout.

1-0 out of 5 stars Agree with waste of time and money
If you are planning to use with digital photos, don't get this one. You must actually do the cutting to place photos. Has a lot to it but most is useless if you plan to design and print with your pictures.

1-0 out of 5 stars So disappointed...
I saw this in the store the other day and thought what a wonderful idea!! Considering the Hallmark name, I thought it had to be decent. I hate it. I put in the time to learn how to use it. I have a technical bachelors degree and work in the IT field, so you'd think I'd be computer savvy enough to use this. I have hundreds of digital photos and was quite upset to see the note in the instructions to only use the square or retangular templates with digital photos. What??!! That makes it useless to me. $20 down the toilet.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not so good
I was very anxious to receive the Hallmark Scrapbook Studio. The day it came in the mail, I installed it on my computer only to find it did not work. Each time I tried to use a pre-designed template, my computer would crash. I was unable to use the software even after contacting Sierra for advice. My computer exceeds the operating requirements yet the software did not work. I would not recommend this software. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars PS
I just wanted to add that a lot of the reviews in this section are for different software! Versions of photodeluxe 2.0 are different for PC's and Mac's!! The Mac's version 2.0 is comparable to photodeluxe 4.0 for PC, which is known to have a lot of "bugs" in it. Version 2.0 for PC is a much better version than 4.0...don't fix what is not broken!! So, please if you are a PC user thinking about purchasing version 2.0, ignore the comments about the Mac version as they do not apply to you. :o)

5-0 out of 5 stars SO user friendly
Adobe has been perfecting their software for way over a decade, so no wonder they're so high quality and easy to use.

Like their high end [...] software, this title uses a very easy and functional layering system.

I use it, not only for photos, but for illustration and graphics purposes, too. Just scan your line drawing in and, like a coloring book, fill in the white areas with color or textures. It comes with a bunch of cool effects buttons, so you can then add those as well.

It crashes sometimes, but usually only when using the "advanced" buttons and bogging your RAM down with a ton of effects and commands. Just be sure to get in the universally good habit of saving often, and there won't be much of a problem.

I actually prefer version 2 to version 4 because of a more user friendly interface, but don't try to run version 2 on WinXP.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not compatible with OS9!
Please. If you have Mac OS9 beware! My Mac freezes every time I try to use this software and I have spent hours trying to resolve the problem. Be sure to review the user group entries on Adobe's website before buying this software! You will find many frustrated OS9 users and no solutions. GOTO ...(their website). Enter search and enter "PhotoDeluxe OS9."

4-0 out of 5 stars PC User
Never thought I would be good at making minor changes to family photos until I tried this product. Easy to learn, easy to use. Now my whole family uses this product.

2-0 out of 5 stars Troublesome
I have found PhotoDeluxe to be very cumbersome. Many of the features are hard to use if you're a novice. PhotoDeluxe for Dummies was helpful and explained quite a bit but why should you have to spend money on a guidebook? Also, changing the print setup leads to constant crashing (Windows 98). I have plenty of free disk space and available RAM so I don't think this is the reason. I'd say spend a bit more for a BMW and stay away from this Chevrolet. ... Read more
