Pretty good product!
I ordered Proventure Greeting Cards, and I am pretty satisfied with them. There are alot of different card and letter designs to choose from. Also, you get some free new cliparts for your computer. Love the 2.1 better than the new ones
I have the 2.1 Version and a friend has the 3 version. I updated to 5 Silver and my friend also reviewed it. We both feel that the 2.1 and 3 are better. They are much easier...seems to have more variety of cards. I would like to be able to buy another 2.1 or 3 for other friends for whom I know 5 would be too confusing as it certainly is for me. If CreataCard would combine either one of these with more cards and programs, ok.
I was thinking about 6 but don't think so. Am happy with my 2.1 and will try to get to know 5 better but am not as happy with it as I had hoped.

Not an updated version
I was under the impression this would be an update of their previous version 3. It was completely different and did not offer the user friendliness of previous versions. All cards I have made with previous versions of their product I have sent using a quarter fold card - I have a large supply of these special envelopes I hoped to use. No way could I print a quarter fold card with the information they gave me. I tried their help menu, their e-mail help and after 3 days of waiting for a response I returned the product.

The best money saver going
We have a large family found out we are saving a lot of money doing our cards this way. We love personalizing them and it fills my creative needs.

Easiest Program to use!
Out of all the programs to create cards, I find the American Greeting software the easiest and best to use. I just purchased the Silver 5 and am loving it. It is so much nicer and personal to make your own cards, the way you want them - even with photos, to friends and family. It sure beats buying standard cards at a store.

Greeting Cards in Minutes!
I was a little reluctant to buy this product. Would I really use it? Would the quality be as good as a real card? Would there be enough variety? I have used it A LOT! The cards are great! And the variety of themes for the cards are wonderful. Plus I've created certificates and gift tags too.

It is so simple to use. I am not one to read directions and I was creating cards within minutes of actually installing CreataCard. My kids love using it too.

$$$$Must purchase code to unlock most images $$$$
I have the Crafts 2 which is suppose to be better than the 1st version. Yes, there are lots of good things to make here but ... you must call their 800 # and receive a code to unlock many cards, projects, etc. And, if your computer happens to go down and you must reload all of your software, you will need to call again and get another code to unlock them all over again. Let me go into a little detail on how many projects there are and how many you can actually use:
Envelopes: card size: 5 out of 23 can be used without purchasing the code.
Envelopes: half-card size: 16 out of 39.
Envelopes: #10 size: 14 out of 36.
Stationery: 26 out of 50.
Self mailers: 20 out of 33.
Wearable Fun: Masks, hats, mostly t-shirt designs, 1 badge: 202 out of 232. (Note, in any program, you can turn any design or clip art into a t-shirt transfer, you just select t-shirt transfer instead of paper when you go to print).
Package decorations: 19 out of 27.
Activities: Bookmarks: 28 out of 49.

I have used American Greetings CreataCard for over eight years now. The first version was just like this craft software. I had to buy the addition upgrade package, then call back and get another code when our computer went down. So, when American Greeting sent me an offer to upgrade to the next version, the first thing I asked was whether or not I had to do the same thing. I am now using the Platinum 6 version and it is really wonderful. (Just received the Platinum 7 also) I save a ton of money printing cards for everyone for every occasion. It is very easy to use. I love being able to print cards with our own family photos on them. It also has a very easy to use workshop where you can edit your pictures: remove red-eye, brighten, add special effects, etc. I have made several of my son's teachers very nice certificates to show appreciation and they all just loved them. I can do the envelopes, labels, add-a-photo projects, frames, stationery, Christmas ornaments and lots more with it. I would not waste my money on the Crafts software even though it does have some nice features. Being frustrated when you finally find the perfect card and realize that you can't have that card unless you pay more money, just wasn't worth it to me. I would recommend just going with the Creatacard software- the later versions.

I loved it!
This was my first investment in the American Greetings publishing series...and it got me hooked. From bags to baskets to origami, this program has numerous new ideas! The do anything Program
i have really enjoyed this program. There is countless projects
to accomplish with this. It makes anyone look like a professional. But honestly what I enjoy the most is the fun things you can do with it. I made my grand-daughter a I.D. card,
but I changed the heading to "President of the U.S.A."
I love the creative cards. You can put a smile on anyones face. Maybe even thier picture on it.
And when you must, you can create serious ones too. You can design your own, which ever you want. Whenever you want.

Just Say NO!
How is it possible that The Print Shop Ensemble III was a better program than this? This program MAY be useful if you plan on only making greeting cards. The selection of simple clip-art is nonexistant. Virtually every picture is a greeting card type scene. For some this may be fine, but even so, they are quite ugly.

I have had problems with this program crashing on an otherwise very stable system. I am using XP, and while I am unsure if XP is the problem, there is a label on the box which proudly states "XP Compatible". I doubt this is actually an issue, I think the program is just poorly done. In most intances I would do some problem solving, but with this software it would just be a waste of my time.

I hate to say this about a Print Shop product because Ensemble III had served my needs to make simple projects for many years. I make many of my own graphics, and importing was quick and easy. If I wanted to make fancy greeting cards I went with American Greetings Creata-Card or Print!.

I am completely unhappy with this product, and after I finish trying to warn others about this silly program I plan on seeing if I can somehow return this to Broderbund for a refund. ... Read more

3.0, not 4.0 version better
I also had the 3.0 version of creatacard. I used it weekly and loved it. Then I got the Platinum 4 version. I can honestly say that about half of the cards I went to select, I couldn't. I had to buy the super upgrade pack .... They gave me a code to enter and then I could use all of the cards. But, when our computer went down and we had to reload, I had to call back and get another code to unlock those cards again. I also hated having to insert a different disk everytime I looked at a card. Now, the 6.0 Platinum doesn't do that. All of the cards are loaded onto the hard drive and I've never had to insert a disk again. All of the cards shown are available. I've learned to deal with the different setup and menu and find them very easy. The bad things: the program takes about one minute after I click on it before it actually comes up on the screen. (I have tons of memory, so it's not a memory problem). It does not allow you to select whether you want to print a quarter-fold or half page. I have had lots of problems with the colors being wrong and or lines through the colors. I've looked it up on on the technical support and it seems that some printers are not compatible with the creatacard program. It suggested changing the 16bit high color to a lower, such as 256, but when I did that, a pop up screen said that the creatacard had to run in 16 bit color and thus would not even open up when any other color was selected. I've also had problems with importing pictures into the program. If I've gotten too much on a card, it will shut down (you have performed an illegal operation). When I've imported pictures into the menu, it also puts to wrong picture name under the picture, so that when I click on it, I get whatever picture the name says, not shows. Overall, I would not purchase this program again, that's why I'm reading reviews trying to find something else. I hope this helps.

Is this product an improvement over 5.0?
I actually own American Greetings Gold 5.0 and I love the product...however, I have been getting all kinds of "illegal operations" errors in recent months. The program worked great as long as I was using their templates, but after a while I started to get creative and design from scratch, using my own digital images. That was when the trouble started. I have contacted Broderbund a couple of times and all they had to suggest was that I had insufficient memory. As I have a Pentium III computer, this seemed an unlikely explanation. They have refused to answer my question of whether the 6.0 version would be an improvement. Does anyone out there know? A computer guy I spoke to thinks the problems come from the C++ language used to design the program. Broderbund wouldn't comment on that either.

Not trully a review but some words of caution
I have not used American Greetings Creatacard 6.0, so like you, I'm reading reviews to see if I should buy it.

I loved Creatacard 3.0, so I went out and bought Creatacard 5.0.
However, I had the shock of my life when the wonderful workable interface of Creatacard 3.0 was modified, to one that was a cross between it and the inferior Printmaster programs.
Come to find out these companies merged at this point in time.

Another shock upon buying the Creatacard Gold 5.0 versus the Creatacard Gold 3.0, was that most of the cards (over 75% that I checked) were duplicates and I mean exact duplicates of the 3.0 version. Buying a new program didn't get me more new cards. Gold 3.0 adverizes 6000+ greeting cards and 14,000 projects and designs.
Gold 5.0 cleverly does not list the number of cards, but has 600,000+ project possibilities. If you want it for that I suppose you are okay.

However, and back to the Gold 6.0 version advertized here. The number of cards is listed as 3900, quite a bit less than the 6000+ than the Gold 3.0 had. Who knows what the 5.0 had.

So I guess what I'm saying is if you are in it for the cards and own a previous American Greeting Cards program, don't bother, until they get their act together again. If you just want crafts etc. You might be okay.

If I am wrong, I would love to know about it. I'm looking for a good card program and I found one once in the 3.0 version, so I'm open to suggestions. ... Read more
