Don't buy this..
I agree with the first reviewer. I tried at least 6 or 7 times and it wouldn't install. I also have XP and more than enough space on the computer for this program. I am out $30 b/c I can't return it. I couldn't even find a tech support phone #.

Didn't run
I bought this Print Shop from another retailer (not Amazon), but after installing 3 different times, it just didn't run on my PC. I have XP, enough gigabites of hardware and memory, it meets all the system requirements but the software just doesn't run. After talking to Broaderbund tech support (the number was very difficult to find) and trying fixes, it didn't work and the retailer gave me a hell when I returned it. I'd buy any future PrintShop products only if there is a policy to return, or trial first before buying.

Stick With Sierra's Print Artist
I have not purchased Print Shop 20, but I have carefully looked over the software description on the company's site and the other reviews that mention 'false advertizing' when it comes to the amount of images that actually come with the program are true. Not nearly as many images come with it as it states.

Personally, thanks to my thorough research today I've decided to definitely stick with my beloved Print Artist. I've been using Print Artist for years and upgrading when a new version comes out. This time I thought I might try something different for a change, but I've changed my mind; I'm going to stick with Sierra's Print Artist. It has all the same extra features and bonuses as the other greeting card/desktop publishing programs and more, it's extremely simple to use once you get the hang of it, and there is no false advertising to it - it really includes everything the box for it says it does. Also, the print quality is excellent.

Trust the reviews you see here. If you want honest, quality greeting card software, DO NOT waste your money on Print Shop.

New Company - Worse Product
Look @ the box /screens. Instead of Broderbund its now Riverdeep & with that change the program has changed as well. I installed it & have uninstalled it. The screens look "cheaper". I like using the "Fine Art". There are far less Fine Art images in newer version. More upsetting is the false advertising. Box states "310,000+ images" (deluxe) where in reality MOST of these are online & secondly if you want to use MOST of those you have to pay another $20-30 to join their Million image club to use them?? Reinstalled old version 15. Why is new not better? I also keep a special PC w/all my old classic 96/97 programs!

Not worth it.
Don't pay $30 for this, just buy older version Print Shop 11 for $9. You would expect to see more tools in newer 20 version, but everything is exactly the same as Print Shop 11, and 11 has more special effects. Does anyone have Print Shop Delux 20 ? Please write a review if it's worth buying. Only reason I use Print Shop is because it's easy, too bad they don't improve it, all reviews I see for any Print Shop are not too good. It is almost absurdly easy to create a card within minutes of installing Hallmark Christian Card Studio, for everything from birthdays to weddings. Big, friendly navigation buttons point the way, whether you choose a card to customize, or create one from scratch.

Installation couldn't be smoother. The process is streamlined, but not so much so that you automatically get stuck with a bunch of "trial offers" that are really advertisements for other products; dialog boxes let you choose to accept these or not. It's otherwise a matter of clicking past the legal mumbojumbo and restarting your computer. You will then be enveloped in the bubbly cartoon world that is this program's interface, with almost comically large buttons to click, pastel backgrounds, and flapping butterflies.

But Christian Card Studio offers more than just a pretty interface. The editing tools seem at first rudimentary, but they offer power and flexibility. Resize, rotate, and crop images. Edit text and alter its color, font, and size. Those who have used image editing software of any kind will experience no difficulty whatsoever, and even beginners will soon be slinging text and images with the best of them. The best way to learn is to dive right in and start experimenting, as the "tutorial" is pretty skimpy and unclear.

A few drawbacks: The Undo function goes back only one step. The super-friendly interface can be a bit much, especially when you want to perform a function that cannot obviously be done with those colorful, oversized buttons; on some screens, for example, there is no obvious way to go back to the previous screen. It is hard to take seriously the claim that there are "200,000 ways to create a card," unless you include every conceivable combination of text and image. Also, the Christian content is not all that it could be: the art gallery features many irrelevant categories such as Sea Mammals and Zebras. Finally, though the e-card function works well, be forewarned that the first thing your recipient will see is not an expression of your affection, but a technical explanation of how to view the card ("You can view your greeting by selecting either Run from the Start Menu or File/Run from the Program Manager...").

All in all, this program delivers a fun and satisfying experience. Print your own Hallmark cards
The best thing about this software is that it includes hundreds of ready-made Hallmark cards for you to print. Of course you can customize them, but you are starting with a professionally designed card, which makes the process much different than starting from a blank page. Have you ever been wandering through the card shop and wanted to take the picture from one card and the greeting from another? Or take a card addressed "to my brother" and change it "to my friend/sister/dad/Joe/Mary/whoever"? Now you can. And of course you can add pictures of your family. You will get your money's worth out of this product, but after a few years of printing the included cards, the cards in some of the categories are starting to look pretty familiar.

DISAPOINTING SOFTWARE
THIS PROGRAM GIVES YOU A LOT OF GREAT GRAPHICS. I WAS REALLY DISAPOINTED IN THE MESSAGES INCLUDED WITH THE PROGRAM. I HAVE AMERICAN GREETINGS PLATINUM 6 AND IT HAS MORE SPIRITUAL MESSAGES THAN THIS ONE DOES. IT JUST DID NOT GIVE ME WHAT I NEEDED TO DO THE JOB I HAVE TO DO.

Excellent software-silly format
I recently purchased this product as I have used the Greeting Card Studio Deluxe from Hallmark. This program has so many excellent cards and lots of room for custom changes. The only feature of software that really needs work is the cutesy graphics that control the program commands. The program is easy to use even for someone new to computing and the resulting cards and projects have been really professional-looking. So nice if you like to remember special people with equally special sentiments.

graphics are just so-so
The graphics are not sorted as you would think. For instance, if looking for an elephant. You would have to click through pages of 'wild animals' to find an elephant. All graphics are sorted by main catogories. Same with flowers. You sort through several pages of flowers. You can't just click on a specific flower or group (bouguets for instantce.) If you want an envelope to match your card. You have to find an appropriate graphic by searching each graphic catogory. The graphic on the card I guess can be used if you use the crop but that only gives you a few choices. (crop square, round, oval etc. You can only crop out just so much, leaving in something you don't want.)

If you don't need to be an 'artist' then this is a faily good graphic program and the price is great.

could be better
The product is good and easy to use, but...
for Newsletters you can't do muliple pages in one file
and the save feature never tells you the current name (like in Word). The font size only allows you to increase/decrease by using a plus or minus sign. It would be ideal if you could make it a true value to avoid inconsistency. Lastly, you can't set your own margins because they rely on dialog boxes similar to Powerpoint - good, but not great. I'm glad I have the product, but for this project I'll transfer it over to Powerpoint. The fonts and pics are excellent, so with a good color printer you can do some amazing projects. I found this very useful for the one page projects or basic cards, however, it does come with many other features I have not used yet...bookmarks, labels, etc. ... Read more

It does the job
I got tired of having tons of unused business cards with outdated info and I've decided to try making my own cards when it's needed. I bought this program and some Avery CleanEdge paper and installed it on my laptop. What was my impression? Well, it was easy as promised. Of course, many of their 4000+ design samples were not very impressive, but I found something very close to what I was looking for and customization took just a few minutes. When I entered my Avery paper code, it picked picked it up and printed just perfectly, the cards came out looking really good. So it does it's job and I've got what I've been promised in a very quick time. I can't say anything bad about this software, so I gave 5 stars.

But I want to give you a little warning. if you're technically savvy and not going to use really advanced features like matching envelopes, blanks etc, then you can probably get the same thing done in regular Microsoft Word. It will take a little bit longer, but it's pretty much the same standard document editor with some clip art collection. So before you buy make sure you understand clearly what you want to get and it's really beyond what you can do with your favorite text editor. ... Read more

So much better than American Greetings
For years I have used American Greetings Gold or Platnum. This program is so much better than American Greetings Gold or Platnum no matter what edition.

I always email greeting cards to friends and family. The latest version of American Greetings (Gold 8) made it impossible for family and friends to open or view the e-cards I sent. The e-cards I send with Hallmark Card Studio are easy to open and view.

Making cards or your own projects is also so much easier with Hallmark Card Studio than with American Greetings.

Easier to use than Greetings 2000
In response to Christine Iacomini, the one great thing that this version has over Greetings 2000 is exactly what she didn't like about it: it's very simple.

We have the original version of Card Studio (version 1.0a, which we got almost 8 years ago) and the one thing my wife (not very computer saavy) loved about the program is that it was really easy to use. In fact, when she tried to use Greetings 2000, she insisted I install the older version (which is still installed and works great).

Anyway, Card Studio 2004 does have enhancements over previous versions, but it also brings back a much simpler interface compared to 2000. This may irk some people that want a lot of fine-tuned control over their creations, but it makes it easier for those people that want a program that you don't need to hunt through the controls to use!

it's terrible
I'm really dissappointed with this product. Unlike other Hallmark programs, it does not have all it says on the program and it locks up my system, (which is a brandnew p4) When I can get it to work it only prints part of the card and does not center it correctly so the finished product looks terrible.

I think Hallmark needs to fix the problems and offer a working upgrade.

Great Creative Tool, Some Performance Issues.

I first was a bit hesitant to buy a branded piece of software (i.e. Hallmark), because I've had terrible experiences in the past with such a products. However, this time it turned out to be pretty good. The interface it's quite intuitive, the layout (i think) it's no-nonsense, and the creative options are just great. It's easy to get "lost" at first because of the plethora of possibilities, but once one has done it couple of times it becomes VERY easy to use and navigate. My wife created a fully personalized card (i.e. from scratch) and printed it in less than half an hour. Granted, you will not be getting all the bells and whistles that other packages out there have, but at this price it's quite a bargain.
My only qualm is that the program is indeed a bit "heavy" on system resources and if you're doing an extravagant piece of card, it will be slow to work with and print.
Over all, it's a buy.

Good software with minor flaws
With this version there are LOTS of cards to choose from. There are actually 5 categories that include birthdays, holidays, special days, day by day, and other projects. The predesigned cards are nicely designed and there's also an option to design your own card from scratch. The text of some cards can't be changed though, so if you want to use those graphics, you'll have to do a bit more work (copying and pasting). And the button to customize your printer settings within the software doesn't work. You have to change the settings from Windows by pressing start, control panel, etc. No biggie though. This program does take a lot of hard drive space with a full install (1.6 gigs). I guess my major gripe is there's no way to remove the logo from the back page. I don't mind the Hallmark one but the "2002, Universal Vivendi Games, Inc" one is kind of tacky.

Great versatile product!
I love the designs in the Hallmark Card Studio. I have used the American Greeting one and found it to be dated looking, and cheap. Hallmark Card Studio Deluxe 2003 offers the same designs as the cards you see at the store. The images print great, and you can customize the text. I get really heavy, textured card stock and fool a lot of people. I just wish these card programs would print the colored backgrounds to the edges of the paper (the only giveaway of a homemade card). Both of my sisters-in-law bought it and love it too. I am now looking to get 2004 for some new designs (between the 3 of us, we've lost track of who has sent what :)

2003 Deluxe, Flawed program.
I upgraded from Card Studio Deluxe to 2003 Deluxe for the address book. I do alot of mail merge but when you print lables or envelopes it prints the last name twice instead of Mr. & Mrs. (last name). Going to Sierra support I found many people with the same problem. Sierra says there is no fix and is refunding my money. There are also less options for lable sizes and, when printing envelopes, it prints in the same place no matter how you put the settings. Also, I cannot cut or delete the Hallmark graphics on the back of the cards.
I'm very dissapointed with this product and Hallmark for selling this program with a known flaw and no patch.

A great program for all ages
I bought this software program for my 84 year old mother to create cards. She has used many others in the past, and Hallmark Card Studio Deluxe 2003 by Sierra Home is now her ABSOLUTE FAVORITE!

She says its easy to use, and she loves the graphics that come with program.

Access is "iffy"
I've owned previous versions of this product, and I enjoyed using them. I found switching CDs a little annoying though, and welcomed the idea of one disk, with most of the art stored online, without taking up space on my computer.

The art is wonderful; my real complaint with the program is the website access. All too often, I find myself in the middle of designing something when suddenly an object cannot download. There appears a blurb from the manufacturer telling you to try again later. Sometimes "later" is just a few moments later, other times it can be quite a while. Also, I find that the thumbnails are a little slow appearing, making scrolling through the art time consuming. I would give this product a much higher rating if it wasn't for this unreliability. I like the PrintShop, but I just bought Version 20 Deluxe, to be installed when I install my larger hard drive. I haven't installed it yet; I'm reading reviews here to see if anything else sounds more promising.

Experienced Print Shop user
I bought the print shop deluxe version 15 because I had been very pleased with its previous editions. Well not with this one. It installed only part of the program, I uninstalled the whole program and started installation again, but the program insists it is already installed. So here I sit with a new program that is useless. Have contacted Broderbund but have not had a reply. Have had the computer checked out and it is the program not the computer causing the problem.

Terrible Software - Does edit photos
This is terrible software. I gave it two stars because it does edit photos and I needed that feature, but, overall I am very sorry that I spent my money before looking at these reviews.

The interface is AWFUL! For example, if you want to add a rectangle you would think you would just click on a rectangle tool and draw it. Nope! Instead you click on "Insert Shape", then you get a dialog box of possible shapes. You have to select the shape you want and the color in this dialog box. Then you click OK. Now you have a rectangle that you can reshape.

The Wizards are OK, but the designs are very lame and unprofessional. The system creates some integrated letterhead and business cards, but you wouldn't want to use them.

I bought this ... figuring, ...how much worse can it be than Microsoft Publisher 2000? Afterall, this isn't rocket science. The answer was MUCH worse!

Is there an award for Worst Software Imaginable?
This is great if you want to send a note to your Aunt Helen. Anything more substantial and it is full of quirks and bugs. Huge Waste of Money----the programmers should be lined up and shown the door or preferably worse.

No Manual
This is a disappointment for the high price as it has no manual. I've enjoyed previous versions of P.S. Deluxe, and this is the first that didn't include a paper manual. I don't like reading instructions on the computer screen/electronic manuals. ... Read more

Fun Fun Fun
I've never had more fun with a computer program than I've had with Funhouse. Just add a face to one of the numerous templates, make a few clicks, and you've got a laught till your cry masterpiece. I especially like to program's ability to automatically match the complexion of the added face to the template. I've been doing projects with pics of my coworkers and they've loved them. They all think I'm a digital genious. Little do they know how easy Funhouse is to use.

Poor quality artwork compared with older versions
I agree with the reviewer who advised: "don't bother to upgrade." Compared with version 8 (which unfortunately has some printing problems under Windows XP), the quality of the artwork in version 15 is poor. Gone are many of the cartoons and genuinely humorous pictures, gone are the victorian prints and original art collections, which made the older version a pleasure to use, and offered really unusual material.

It's still a decent program. It is easy to use and gives you access to many images on the DVD or CDs as well as online. But the quality of those images is so-so, especially compared with older versions of the program.

junk software
Wouldn't install, Print Master or 3D. In fact 3D registered me but did not complete the installation and when I e-mailed Broderbund about this problem, I got no response what so ever. Tried to return the junk software and store wouldn't take it back.

Makes a Pleasure out of creating cards
I have had two previous Printmaster programs but this one, especially being on DVD, is a dream.Acccess to and download of two free card program editions from the Broderbund site has been a most pleasant experience.This version is so much more in content than the other two I have used.

don't bother upgrading
I bought a new computer with windows XP and decided if i was going to be running the newest Windows I should run the newest Printmaster. I upgraded from Platinum 11 and I'm sending back Platinum 15 and re-installing 11. More than half the images are online now. You get three art discs and have to sort through online garbage to get the rest. It'sto get you to sign up for their Million image club for another $$. They took away some features and added nothing. Quality went down. Wait for them to bring it back up before upgrading. ... Read more

OLD IMAGES, WORTHLESS, WASTE OF MONEY.
I found it to be totally worthless with their outdated photos. Nothing new or current in the entire collection. I am looking specifically for business photos and technology photos - of which there are virtually none in the entire collection. I mean NONE.

I hope they will eventually make a collection that contains new stuff, like from the 20th century!!! And definitely cool, colorful images of space, technology, people, business people, buildings, offices, etc.

Spend your money elsewhere people. This collection is useful only if you're a historian and write on subjects from the early 1900's.

Waste of Time & Money
I had the previous edition for Win98 and thought the new edition for WinXP would have fixed the previous problems but it has not. I was able to load the software fine and it runs well, and the pre-designed templates are great! But... it still won't allow you to import digital photos to shapes other than squares/rectangles. So, at least half of the templates are useless unless you enjoy printing the template and manually cutting out the design (star, oval or circle) and putting a hard copy photo behind the shape. Yes, it is more like real scrapbooking, but come on! I know the technology is out there and it is just a matter of layering. Wait until Hallmark wakes up and smells the Elmers and makes a top-knotch scrapbook program... which will hopefully come soon!

It's good for graphics but that's about it
It is so frustrating because you can't work a 2 page spread with the two pages side by side. I've only used this for printing out some clip art and/or sayings and such. And when I've used it for a full page layout, it always leaves a 1/2 inch boarder around the edges of white...I know that's a printer issue but it's still annoying. I would never use it for a full page layout.

Agree with waste of time and money
If you are planning to use with digital photos, don't get this one. You must actually do the cutting to place photos. Has a lot to it but most is useless if you plan to design and print with your pictures.

So disappointed...
I saw this in the store the other day and thought what a wonderful idea!! Considering the Hallmark name, I thought it had to be decent. I hate it. I put in the time to learn how to use it. I have a technical bachelors degree and work in the IT field, so you'd think I'd be computer savvy enough to use this. I have hundreds of digital photos and was quite upset to see the note in the instructions to only use the square or retangular templates with digital photos. What??!! That makes it useless to me. $20 down the toilet.

Not so good
I was very anxious to receive the Hallmark Scrapbook Studio. The day it came in the mail, I installed it on my computer only to find it did not work. Each time I tried to use a pre-designed template, my computer would crash. I was unable to use the software even after contacting Sierra for advice. My computer exceeds the operating requirements yet the software did not work. I would not recommend this software. ... Read more

Better than Before
I was very very pleased with the changes in the program. They made it a lot easier for people that do not have lots of space on their computer to download all of the artwork. In the Art Gallery and the different card catagories, there are somethings that are availiable on-line. The only draw-back is that while you are using the program, you may have to go back & forth-on & off the internet. I must say that really isn't that much of a problem. Although, someone who is not able to go on line-it could be a problem for. There are many many more pieces of art in the Gallery (different from ver.6 platinum). There are more selections of cards and you can actually change the color scheme of a card if you want to. They also give you more places to explore. The process of finializing a project is much easier. You can save, print, e-mail the project, have them print your card all from the same little pop-up window. I am very glad I made the decision to get version 7 Platinum. I guess the one piece of information that I should add is that my husband bought this program for me as an anniversary gift (since it's the program I love the best). Unknown to me he bought it directly from Broderbund. I received it on August 8th. I would recommend it to anyone. As with any program, it's got it's ins & outs. But even so, it always take time to get use to any program. If there weren't differences in the progressing versions, American Greetings wouldn't put out any newer versions. I have had programs from other companies but have always returned to American Greetings CreataCard.

P.S. I have a response to all of the reviews that reference complaints of not liking the part of having to download a tremendous amount of the art work, etc. People who have computers that don't have a lot of memory space, it makes it easier for them to work this version of Creatacard. Even if you don't install the full version, a lot of people do not have enough memory. Not everyone who owns a computer is able to afford to put added memory in their machines. At the same time, I realize that it costs money to have an internet connection but a lot of folks just plain don't have the extra money it takes to buy added memory (along with having to pay to have it placed in their computers). At least this program gives the little people the chance to experience how wonderful it is to have a program like this!

CreataCard Platinum 7 retains the same annoying user interface as the original 1997 version I got free with my greeting card paper, and then takes away the ability to view a group of cards (and their inside messages) as a group, but then adds the need for you to download most of the content from the Internet. Most annoying: the software did not ask (or check) to see if I had an existing Internet connection, but assumed I was on dialup and tried to dial my modem (I then had to use Task Manager to end the program.) I found the humor in the cards to be crass and insulting, with very few "sentimental" cards appropriate for an older person. After wrestling with the program, trying to find a card I could even modify to my liking (ArtStudio is even more difficult than it used to be to use), I gave up and wished I'd read the reviews on Amazon first.

Very nice
I upgraded from CreataCard Gold 4. All my old images in Version 4 were available online but it would have been nice if they could have been merged into V7 from my V4, since I owned 4. I am on a broadband Internet connection so I don't mind that much of the projects and images are online. I am concerned though at how long shall these images be available online? A year maybe 2, oh hey maybe 2 months! That always is the worry for me with storing things online.

The interface is still the same overly cutesy child like graphics that I dislike. I guess it does make it a bit easier for those that may be intimidated by a computer. I find it just plan annoying.

I do wish that more of the projects were not so over laden with graphics either. Sometimes the project just gets to jumbled with stuff. Mainly the business cards are what I am referring to. I printed up my own cards and had to design my own as all the templates they offered were just to darn graphical. I wanted a plan old card look.

Over all a good value for what you get and can do software.

Other new features include an address book, photo frames, quotes and verses to add to your works, and text tools. A 3-D headline tool has been added, too. Use one of the ready-made designs or custom-build a headline using a variety of shape, proportion, color, and outline effects. Plus, a preview box lets you see your creation before it's part of your project.

Hurry up please with OS-X Print Shop
As a new user of Apple equipment, I am amazed that there are no
really good printing programs for Mac OS-X. I really love the
iMac I just got. Best computer I've ever owned! But, there are lots of good printing programs for Windows ie: Printmaster Gold, etc. I'm glad I saved my old PC and will use it for printing posters, cards, etc. till someone gets with it and comes up with
a good Mac OS-X program ...... then I'll trash my old PC.

Read what it is you are buying!!!
It says right on Amazon's webpage that this version is NOT OS X compatible.
Like another reviewer said, buy the version that the Apple Store currently sells, which is made for OS X. Stop complaining cuz you didn't read what it is that you bought.

My rating is for MacKiev's Print Shop (Not Broderbund)
The new version, no longer published by Broderbund, is so superior. It is designed specifically for Mac OS X and integrates with iCal and the Address book. You can print directly to those new Epson printers that allow you to print CD labels right on the CD itself. Packed with high quality photos and graphics and easy-to-use professionally-design templates, The Print Shop for Mac has everything you need to create great-looking posters, banners, business cards, pamphlets, online greetings and much more! Do yourself a favor and check out MacKiev's new version of the Print Shop, not this old one listed here.

It was not worth waiting for. I am very disappointed
I expected a new and improved Print shop with new graphics. I recieved it today and found numerous pictures that I used in the print shop at least 6 years ago. I felt like I was using the old print shop on my Apple IIgs. It has many similarities to the old System 9 print shop which was not overly impressive. Do not waste your money on this program. Invest in Print Explosion it has much better and a larger selection of graphics.
