Print Artist, Print Kit Edition is the newest software from Sierra Home,a longtime leader in the creation of computer craft software. The friendlyinterface coupled with easy-to-follow instructions and digital imaging toolsmake creating and personalizing cards, banners, newsletters, and crafts easy andfun. You simply pick a project, make design adjustments, and print in a matterof minutes.

Begin by choosing from a set of predesigned projects or a blank project that youdesign entirely on your own. The predesigned projects contain an assortment ofmore than 10,000 layouts and 150,000 graphic images. The wide selection oflayouts includes everything from children's party supplies and invitations toT-shirt designs and scrapbook ideas. It's also possible to begin work on a projectand then save your layout, so you can revisit your project at a later date.

Once you choose a template, just click to enter the editing window, where youcan add text, insert your own photos, or utilize images from the built-in imagegallery. The image gallery previews thumbnails from the seven-CD image library included with the Print Artist, Print Kit Edition software. After choosing animage from the image gallery, a friendly window prompts you to insert the CDthat contains the selected image. The selected image will then be inserted intoyour project.

Additionally, Print Artist, Print Kit Edition is equipped with downloadcapabilities, thus providing an even larger pool of images from which to choose.With the click of a mouse, you can download additional graphics from thePrintartist.com Web site directly into the Print Artist, Print Kit Editionproduct. These additional graphics include artwork, layouts, and fonts. TheCollections Manager function clearly categorizes the downloaded content,enabling instant and effortless browsing of downloaded fonts and images.

Print Artist - Great Program
Print Artist Print Kit Edition has been a great resource for all of my creative needs. It is an easy program to learn and use, that also offers a great selection of pre-designed layouts and artwork. The ability to use Avery products was also a great plus and has made creating projects easy and professional looking. I would recommend this to anyone that has a creative knack or wants to look like it.

Stock Up On Ink!
Print Artist Print Kit Edition is the only resource you will utilize to create outstanding printable projects. The program comes complete with thousands of pre-made layouts for everything from greeting cards to gift boxes and clock faces, and every one is customizable. Or you could select a blank and start from scratch. Digital photographs can be imported to any project for a personal touch. There is even a section with the complete line of Avery brand labels and cards. So when you are ready to print there is no need to worry about adjusting the proper margins.

Overall a Very Good Product... But not perfect.
I really like this product. It is very user friendly. Even individuals with limited computer experience will find this product fun and easy to use. I am very impressed with the variety of images to choose from. With PrintMaster Gold 8.0 you can create just about anything. There are templates for business cards, greeting cards, letterhead, labels, posters, flyers, brochures,calendars, etc. (this is just an small example of what is available with PrintMaster Gold 8.0). If you don't like the templates you can create your own designs. I recommend this product for both business and personal use. Unfortunately, as with most things in life, this product is not perfect. I have experienced two problems: 1) This product has occasionaly caused my computer to freeze. The only way I was able to correct the problem was to restart my computer. This can be a bummer if you are not in the habit of saving your work on a very regular basis and 2) I have been unable to access a few of my saved projects. The "illegal operation" box pops up and kicks me off the program. Both of these problems have occured very infrequently. Overall, I feel that this product is great. I feel very comfortable recommending this product to anyone. This was my first experience with a Broderbund product. I do not plan on it being my last.

It's called "Greetings" not Projects.
Microsoft has an nice program here with excellent illustrations to choose from in creating your own greeting cards. It is a one-trick pony but does do the trick very well. The one thing consumers should be aware of is the amount of space it will hog on your computer. Look at the minimum space requirements and then double them to get a better idea of how much room it needs to work smoothly. Same thing with the RAM. Too little RAM and it will freeze up on you or take forever to preview. While I generally dislike Microsoft products, this program has very professionally done graphics and colors which is what you are really purchasing in a card program.

disappointing
I have been a fatihful user of the Microsoft Greeting Card programs, but with each new edition they do less and are less user friendly. If you just want to make cards....and nothing else. This program will suit you fine. However, if you are interested in creating not just cards, but posters, business cards, wrapping paper, certificates, etc., then check out
American Greetings Creatacard program - it has much more to offer for your money.

Microsoft Greetings 2002
I have Microsoft Greetings Workshop ver 2, and Greetings 2000, and they are both better that this product. I still use my Microsoft Greetings 2000, and threw away the 2002...

Not happy with Microsoft Greetings
I was using the Hallmark Greetings Workshop by
Microsoft but lost the CD-rom. I decided to buy
this product and have been so unhappy that I had
to purchase Hallmark Card Studio. MS Greetings
is very difficult to use and has much fewer clip art
selections, background choices, and color options.
I strongly suggest spending a little extra for the
Hallmark product.

PrintMaster Platinum 8.0
I have owned other earlier copies of PrintMaster and by far the Platinum version 8.0 is far superior. It uses every little hard drive space, is very user friendly, and so far is endless in graphic choices and ability. As a third grade school teacher, I am constantly in need of new and exciting ways to present topics. PrintMaster Platinum gives me the freedom to graphically enhance the subject matter and improve the learning envirorment.

Great potential, but......
I had a similar experience as reviewer Joe. First I bought Printmaster 7.0 Gold and loved the features, but hated having to keep re-inserting the program disk back and forth every time I used the Art CD's. In addition, the online help didn't work. As the software is relatively inexpensive I decided to upgrade to 8.0 Platinum. Well, so far I have been unable to run the 8.0. After installing the software the program starts to launch but then aborts with some invalid page fault error message. So far no response to my request for technical assistance via email. I think this could be great software for the casual home user, and I am even tempted to shell out [the cash] for version 10 to see if they have the bugs worked out yet. All I would say is Buyer Beware.

So wonderfully easy to use!
I was shopping with my parents one day when I noticed an older version of PrintMaster at an incredibly low price. I had to have it. That's when it all started. Our church needed a newsletter, so I started doing it. I took over the calendar. I did the usher's pins. I did SO MANY THINGS for our church, home, family, and friends. This may surprise you, but it's true - I started all that stuff at the age of 11! I'm now 13, and I still love PrintMaster. It's one of my essential computer programs! Buy this or a later version - you won't be disappointed!

Phenomenal Software
This is a great piece of software! It does it all; posters, signs, banners, greetings, cards, and more. All you have to do is supply the imagination, and utilize the immense art gallery to create a top-quality project. The user interface is easy to use, and the optional web integration is seamless. If you are a bit lacking in the creativity area you can use a ready-made project instead of starting from scratch. Highly recommended for fun, productivity, or possibly even business. Highly recommended.

Not bad for the average Joe
For those of us who just need an occasional outlet for our creativity and can't justify the big bucks for professional design software, this tool is great! Naturally, it's a little glitchy and it doesn't have the power that a professional demands, but it is still a fine program. The interface is simple, and it's easy to get started. It's possibilities are seemingly endless for those of you with creative minds, but for the rest of us, they have pre-fabricated cards, etc. The graphics set is overwhelming, but the search capabilities bring it down to size. There is some standard cheap clipart, but there is a significant amount of high quality clips, artwork and photos. Also, the cartoon-o-matic is fantastic. I can play with it for hours. Upgrade? Try a downgrade
I have used CreataCard version 3, 4 and 5. I don't know where but somewhere they went wrong, version 3 is by FAR the best. My cd actually got damanged so I bought a version 3 on ebay rather then use version 4. From what I've seen version 5 is still not up to par with version 3.

Version 3 was much simpler to use, no constant swapping of cds while you find the correct card, you had a library of greetings, if you wanted to use a different greeting you just clicked on it, you didn't have to move the text and format it again.

I would rate it zero stars if I could, but the lowest is 1 star, if you never used creatacard 3 you might like it, but if you have used 3, you won't want this "upgrade".

The best and easiest way to create beautiful cards

not entirely happy
the package says for beginners(and I'm as beginner as they get), I was first dissappointed that there was not a user manual. A quick reference card is not that useful for a beginner. The tutorial does not answer any questions that I may have about using the program. Needless to say I am a little disappointed but I will figure it out eventually. If there is a manual available I would like to have it cause it would make using the program a little easier.

The Best creative program
just purchased this program after using the old PrintArtist Platinum that I purchased back in 1998. I love this program! Print Artist programs are so easy to use and do so many things other programs don't do. I have used some of the Borderbund programs, and they suck. With this program, you can create a page of labels, and every single label can be different. That may not sound like a big deal, but so many programs do not allow you to do that. The graphics are great. Much improved over the old version, which was also great. And, if you like Americana/ Folk Art stuff, it has the Homespun Graphics collection, which rocks! Buy this program!

Hard to navigate
Okay, so maybe I may be outdated, but I like my old Microsoft Greetings better than this. I thought that getting this would advance my label-making, but it just got harder to figure out.

First of all, there are no pictures to show me the type of labels or cards I want to make. It's all only in text. My old software would have pictures of the size of cards I want to make, or pictures of a whole sheet of labels I want to make so I can just click and choose. Just by looking at the sheet of labels in my hand, I can compare with the picture on the computer and choose the correct template. With this PrintArtist however, I need to figure out the label NUMBER and with no pictures of the templates, I have to hope I chose the right one.

Also, this software doesn't have the Avery round label # 5293 template. I've looked and looked. You'd think something so new would have a common label template as the 5293. Then someone helped me to adjust the settings of one of the given round labels. To have to realign the height, width, margins, etc. was a pain and it shouldn't have to come to that, don't you think?
