Buy this: amazing price, and it's a full version of Sibelius
You'd be crazy not to get this!!
If you've ever used a copy of Finale, Encore or Mosaic, you qualify!! The price point is unbeatable. Sibelius is definitely the best, and it works on windows or Mac. I believe you can install it on a second computer if you have a desktop and a laptop. The scanning is great, and it comes with Kontakt sounds from Native Instruments.....what R you w-8-ing for????? ... Read more

The most fun I've had with a computer in 2 years
Truly, what this makes easy is amazing. Photo albums and do-it-yourself coffee table books, movies, DVDs, music and more.

If you have any older i-___ apps, upgrade now to iLife. It fixes bugs and problems that formerly required work arounds...like now you can adjust the volume in movie tracks...it's elegant and so useful.

But the big advance in iLife is that it the formerly disparate media types now all work together. Laying music tracks into my home movies is a snap. The Ken Burns effect puts photos into movies with style and beauty. Then it all flows into iDVD.

We have friends who hire a computer maven to manage and edit their photos and camcorder video. I just gave them a photo book I made in iPhoto of the wife's 50th birthday party. It earned her thanks and praise. And her computer guru had never seen something so nice. It was easy and fun.

OK, it has some bugs and hangs occassionally...but crashes have never lost any of my data. Just force quit and restart the app and you're rolling again.

But it makes it easy and fun for us non-techies to make beautiful results.

I am a film student trying to get some work done and what do I discover? Those lovely, FREE updates to iTunes, iPhoto and iMovie (included in this software) make it so that if you want to export from iMovie to iDVD, you have to upgrade iDVD. Now guess what the only way you can accomplish that is! By buying this software package. So, you get to spend your fifty bucks on one piece of software and the upgrades for the other 3 that are available for FREE from Apple. So basically, they screw you into buying iLife to complete the upgrade. Seriously, Microsoft isn't so underhanded!!! Shame on you, Apple!!! ... Read more

This educator loves the Music Conservatory!
Sorry to read that the reviewer before me had such a bad experience with the Music Conservatory! I encountered none of the mentioned problems, as a matter of fact I have been impressed with the easy installation. Once installed, navigation is easy and logical; my piano students have no problems using the program by themselves, without much tutoring. Everything is easy to read, graphics are good, audio is good, video clips are short but interesting, they work perfectly fine on my computer! I especially like the fact that every musical style period, every instrument and every musical term is not only explained but also pronounced (correctly!) - really helpful for music lovers who haven't had the good luck of a formal musical education. There is so much information here: history, lots of instruments (some of which were new to me), composers, detailed biographies, musical terms, etc. Most of the instruments do have audio and/or video examples.
Music lovers and music teachers alike will find this program useful and enjoyable. Some of my elementary-age students disliked that it is not truly "interactive" in the sense that the program would "respond" to you. However, it is a wonderful encyclopedia with a wealth of information and options to cater to your particular interest. Definitely worth the money!
One last comment: under system requirements, my CD lists, "MIDI compatible keyboard recommended" - I am not sure what for, I have never used my keyboard with this program; you most certainly can run it without a MIDI compatible keyboard.

Don't waste your money.
Music Conservatory is incredibly bad. First, before it can run it told me that it doesn't support large fonts. This forced me to change the fonts on my system and reboot. Small fonts look bad on my system, but I was forced to change to small fonts. Voyetra has lost half of its audience before the program can even start.

When the program starts the first thing that you notice is that the screens are extremely difficult to read. Some of the screens are absolutely impossible to read, at least on my machine. They tried to make the screens look old like crinkled paper, but some of the screens are so bad that you have to blindly click to see what happens. I'm running in 32 bit true color. But I tried 256 color and it looks just as bad.

I had hoped to be able to hear how each instrument sounds. But only about one quarter of the instruments have any audio attached to them.

Most of the instruments have a 'video' button. But when I click the video button, the screen puts up some text and then immediately overwrites the text with the original image. Perhaps on a very slow computer this would be long enough for you to read the text.

You can click your way through all of the information on the disk in a few minutes. If you buy this product you will use it once and never again.

wasted my money
First problem I had was that there was very little info. on instalation and "how to". After instalation, regestration is required, I never got past this spot, message indicated program was regestered in my name, contacted support several times and followed all their tips and and passwords, still got errors when trying to use "user name and Password", never was able to get on line, eventualy following all their instructions I was not even able to go to the site napster.com at all. ... Disappointing
I tried to use this software to restore the sound quality to my vinyl records before burning to CD. This product is truly unusable. It takes minutes and minutes to do the simplest task. Unless you have unlimited time and unlimited patience, do not buy this product. A far better product at a much lower cost is Magix Audio Cleaning Lab.
