My living room trip to Egypt
I am a recently retired senior citizen who spend 1 to 3 hours daily at my computer. This program is the most facinating one that I own. Installation of all 4 disks was instantaneous and flawless, navigation is so simple, I did not need to read the help file before using the program. I like the ability to go anywhere in the program including exit simply by passing the mouse over the top or bottom of any screen, or, on the screen images. Graphics are beautiful and audio explanations are concise and clear. Written explanation give more detail for those who desire it. The amount of material covering all aspects of Egyptian history and geography is vast. I found the glossary helpful in explaining unfamiliar terms. The music is pleasant and suited to the material presented. Surprisingly, I would equate the overall quality of this program with that of Microsoft's Encarta. I recommend this program to anyone who has a interest in learning anything about ancient Egypt. I feel like I have visited the sites without all the rush of crowds.

Don't buy this
These CD-ROMs have lots of information, good graphics and sound, but are very difficult to navigate. There is no way to exit or end. I had to shut down my computer to get it to stop. There is no point to using them if you can't use them easily. I would not recommend this product.

So much info
I love the depth and quality of information on these cds. The only problem I had was that "Voyage in Egypt" would not install on my system, but happily I was able to run the program by clicking on the link egypt.exe on the actual cd. I would recommend these to anyone who loves Egyptology.

Three out of the four are GOOD!
The 3 CD-ROM titles of this set that I can load are spectacular! But, the fourth is an older production, and I can't load and run it on any of four separate systems! I've asked Topics Entertainment for help online, but so far have received no rsponse. Three disks for the price would seem like a good deal to me, but having one more in the box that won't run is a major disappointment.

Do Not Waste Your Money
I received this as a gift and upon trying to install it found that:

1. It will only install and run on Windows XP when set to run in Windows98/ME compatibility mode.

2. The title, although still for sale is no longer supported by the publisher and the online content (reviews) are no longer accessible. i.e. web links are broken.

3. While the database of older wines still works, the software is archaic and functions poorly.

The publisher of this software really needs to remove it from distribution, what a rip-off!!!!

no web based browsing
The Gold Edition Wines of the World came out of the package and loaded in like a dream after we changed the compatability to run on a top of the line operating system. The information that was loaded in was great and presented very slickly even without Shockwave. When it came time to set up the web browser is when things got interesting. Trying to get the browser to work took over and hour. When it finally did work the web site for the software was nonexistant. So we called the tech support 1-800 number to get a little help. Imagine our surprise to be directed to an adult phoneline. Oh Boy. So we called long distance to the company to get a little help. No luck everyone was out for the holidays and would not be back until the new year (wish my employer had this type of setup). Since this was a gift we ended up looking like total shmoes and took the gift back with promises to find something else. We have since decided to keep the software ourselves as we cannot return it. We currently are in contact with the company that produces it to find an amicable solution to get this software to work. Enthralling study of a genius
You can in general expect high quality productions from Montparnasse Multimedia. "Musee d'Orsay", "The Louvre Museum" and the "Hermitage Museum" supersede this one in the wealth of data, versatility and technical designs. But "Michelangelo" is a very satisfying CD for art lovers. From the entrance summary chart you can select four routes: the life story, the works, the places and the characters. It is best to first follow the "life story" with expert narration by David Gasman, on a sequential basis from his birth in 1475 to his death in 1564. You get animated scenes related to the life story and small icons of "work", "places" and "characters" for you to click into the particular area of your interest. The section of "work" gives you the choice of: paintings, sculptures, architecture, bas-reliefs, frescos or drawings. You can zoom in on any portion and can also pivot freely to admire the sculptures from different angles. This CD greatly enriches one's appreciation of Michelangelo, the man, his times and and his genius. You get great pleasure from the quality of the pictures, the erudite narration and the angelic musical background.

An amazing interactive journey
Museum-goers and art lovers will find hours of fun and learning in this program; the quality of the graphics is spectactular, and one truly realizes the sheer genius and scope of Michelangelo's work by seeing much of it collected in one reference. A great, interactive complement to books on the subject, and though it's no substitute for seeing the works in person, if you're like me, this may be the closest you're likely to get for awhile. Impressive Multimedia CD about Islam
This multi-media CD is very impressive. The collection of materials is really unique. It has a wide-range of topics that is needed by any one who needs to explore this great religion; ISLAM.
