Very good
My 11 year old received this game a couple of years ago. He still plays with it every now and then, but prefers to play it on Gameboy. But now his five year old brother is thrilled with the playing the computergame. He alternates between this one and Digs n Rigs. We are definitely getting our money's worth out of this one.

Good - But NOT a software for Dig-N-Rig unit
We bought this software hoping, but not clear, that this would be additional software for the Tonka Dig-N-Rigs game. If you are not familiar with Dig-N-Rigs, its a GREAT game that comes with a dashboard unit that mounts on your computer keyboard. You load the software and then all of the controls are on this dashboard, like the steering wheel, crane levers, key, and horn. It is a 5-star game and my 4 year old son said, after playing for a few moments that he would be playing the rest of the day and the rest of his life. We'll, just realize that Construction 2 is not a supplement to that game and you just use your mouse. Its still a good game but not near as gratifying as Dig-N-Rigs, and I hope they eventually come out with supplemental software to that game.

other review isn't accurate
I haven't played this game in awhile but that other review isn't right. There isn't a news van, docks or warehouse. The game encompasses a bunch of activities. The meat of the game is the city activity where kids can tear down old buildings, dig holes, pour foundation and build a new building. Its really cool because you can customize how everything looks and there are a lot of add-ons (windows, doors, roofs, trees, bushes) that you can add to your building. I think most kids will have a lot of fun with this activity, the other activities are mostly fillers.

so far so good but.....
I have a amd k6-2 400mhz computer w/vodoo banshee card(totally prehistoric sysem) running window 98se. It runs fine so far but occassionally the graphics freeze(possibly need to update drivers?) in certain tasks but eventually comes into sync and sometimes never. The audio continues fine but the mouse control is lost. The limited control of the vehicles is annoying (for adults) but my four year old son likes it.

it won't run, even with a brand new computer, little boy very disappointed
we have 2 new computers, won't run with either requires way too many downloads from the internet, takes up way too much space, then it still won't run

DON'T buy this!
I have a brand new computer with all the bells and whistles. I purchased Clifford's birthday party-great, Stuart Little Thinking and number adventures-great, and this Tonka search and rescue. My little boy was so excited as it loaded, then, we had to download x something or other to make it work, so I did, then it was something else, and something else. It never did play and now I had to undo everything. Piece of JUNK! In my opinion, DONT'T Buy This software. It also didn't install on my husband's computer.

Superior...that's all I can say!!
This software is by far the most fun and "friendly" of any software that we've purchased for our 3 1/2 year old grandson. What's got me concerned is that my wife and I enjoy watching and helping him with it as much as he enjoys it. This software is a MUST. I've spent money on several software games for my grandson, but this has multiple scenarios of firefighting, police assistance and other rescue missions that make this software a SUPER gift. It offers excellent hand / eye coordination, yet is very forgiving to a young toddler who isn't precise with using a mouse. If I knew how much fun this was, I would have paid twice the money. ... Download the demo, seems to have graphical issues
Before buying this game I went to the infogrames website and downloaded a demo, I suggest you do the same. Now this really isn't a big issue and since I am not 2, and won't be playing this game it probably doesn't matter to much but the game has graphical problems. For instance, in the demo the truck sometimes appears in front of object that it should appear behind (ie. the crane). It worries me that if the demo has such an obvious flaw then maybe the real game is only worse.

Great Fun for Little Kids
My 2-1/2 year old son loves this game. You can switch between four vehicles and do different activities by driving around Tonka Town. My son especially likes chasing and bumping the bad guys out of town as a police car, putting out the fires as Hook and Ladder fire engine and the race game. There are different levels of the game you can progress through and you can get a certificate everytime you finish a task. I only wish that the game allows you to stay at or adjust to a difficulty level instead of automatically bumping you to a harder level when you finish a task.
