Amazon.com Review

Can you help Fred, Velma, and the gang solve the mystery behind thePhantom Knight and his dragon? Scooby-Doo: Phantom of the Knight offerslaughs, pretty good animation, and a series of challenging puzzles to entertainyoung children for hours. Since the villain and clues change with each newadventure, replay is just as much fun as the very first game. Set up much likean episode of the classic television series, the program puts players in an old,castle-themed amusement park to explore for clues to its haunting. Some of thescarier areas will require feeding Scooby or Shaggy to coax them in; snacks canbe obtained by several tests of skill along the way.

Once enough clues have been collected, players decide who's to blame, then checkto see if the guess is right in an action sequence that closes play. Threelevels of difficulty are available, and each offers increasing pressure in theform of red-herring clues and harder challenges to acquire Scooby Snacks.Installation is very simple, and the CD-ROM comes with several Scooby-relatedgoodies like a printable poster and online previews of upcoming movies. 2-0 out of 5 stars hard but no replayability
I brought this for my daughter and played it myself first. I enjoyed the difficulty that the game play provided but was extremely dissappointed to find that the second time I played was exactly the same, all the items in the same place, the game play the same, it was easy. The only thing that really changes is the villan and the clues.
The kids have played once, with helpful hints from me to get them going when they got stuck. They havent been back which dosent surprise me as they tend not to replay games that do not have some varability.
It could have been a great game as it has the difficulty but without varibility it is not as good as it could be.
Solving the villian and clues does not play a big enough part in the game to make it replayable.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great fun & learning
My 5-yr-old LOVES this game! With an age range being 5-10 I thought it'd be too hard for her, but after I showed her how to play, she can solve the mystery with her favorite characters. Yes, it is basically the same mystery over & over, but that's what she likes about it (It's like reading a favorite book again & again). There's alot of logic & sequencing needed & builds memory skills. You have to remember how to get to all the different rooms through many secret passages and find the clues in a certain order. This is loads of fun. We will be getting the rest of these mystery adventures.

3-0 out of 5 stars Parents Cheapsheet for this potential Frustrating game.
It took me an hour to realize that to get past the first suspect and clue, you needed to give the "feather duster" to the old lady. That opens the locked door and makes the most of the other suspects appear. For the other locked door in the town, listen carefully to the Jester's rhyme after you give him the first ball.

With these two hints, the game is just like the "Jinx at the Sphinx". Without them, you will want to throttle the programmers. I played the game myself before I let my 5 yr old play. Since I knew the tricks, he enjoyed it completely.

Good Luck.

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing Waste of Money
Bought this program for my 7 year old son. (The product says ages 5-10). What a piece of [...] this is! I have had other programs from the Learning Company that perform rather well. While installing this program you are forced to install lots of other junk "tag-a-long" programs (AOL, Quick time etc.)just to complete the install. Finally getting the program to run I, the 36 year old adult could not figure out how to make any progress in the game at all. How can I expect my son to figure it out? It was Impossible to even get to the games in which you earn "Scooby Snacks" that are needed to get around in the Castle. Printed out the entire "Book" of instructions and still could not get anywhere. I wish I would have read the other reviews first, I would not have bought it. My son doesn't even want to try it anymore since it's so frustrating.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not for Little Ones
I bought this for my 5 year old and were BOTH stuck! He has played it several times and can't get past the first clue. He became frustrated with this game and stopped playing it. I too thought maybe it was me, but I am apparently not the only one out there who wasted their money on this game. I can only hope the other games for Scooby fans are better, as my son now wants a new one since "this one won't work". ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My 8 yr old loves I spy!
For those who say this is boring, maybe your kids should just stick to video games. My son is loving the books and the computer games. He conquers them pretty quickly and we have to buy more but hey, it's getting his mind working looking for hidden items. We went for an open house at his school a few months ago and the teacher picked up an I Spy book and said that it was the main thing all the kids fought over in class. We love all the books, computer games and the gameboy game that is out. Good investment for little thinkers out there!

3-0 out of 5 stars Can't find 12th ladybug!
I really like this game but I am annoyed that I can't find the last ladybug in the find me game. I can find no game hint support sites either. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it a bug (ha ha) in the program? I have spent weeks looking but always find the ones I've already found. Can anyone out there help me? I am not a child, but my daughter can't find it either. Apparantly the game will not finish until all bugs are found because I have found all the treasures. Does this game not have more than one complete game to play? I thought it had 3 like treasure hunt.
Thanks,

5-0 out of 5 stars Will Keep You Thinking....
My 6 year old daughter loves this game. It is not easy and keeps her thinking. I some times find some of the items hard to find but with persistance you will find them. It is never boring. The whole family enjoys this software.

5-0 out of 5 stars Elementary Kids Love It!
I am a computer lab teacher in an elementary school. Last year, I used this software for quite a few weeks when my Kindergarten through Grade 3 students came in for activity period. Students in grades 4-6 would beg to get a chance to use the software when their assignment for the day was completed.

It was a stretch for Kindergarten to find some of the items, because they did not recognize some of the items in the riddles, but I made sure to point these out in lessons and then circulated to help them more.

It was exciting to watch as students became absorbed in this activity, and most of them grew in their visual and verbal awareness. Children in grades 1-3 could either click to hear the descriptions or read for themselves.

Yes, it is on the shelf this year, but will taken out to be used in two years. This year I bought I Spy Spooky Mansion for use, and next year hope to get the Î Spy Treasure software if I can find the funding.

1-0 out of 5 stars I Spy School Days-big bore
My six year old great nephew completed all of the activities within two hours. He was moderately interested in the beginning and bored by the time he finished. I watched as he played, and thought they were boring, too. ... Read more

Zoinks! The Mystery, Inc. gang is hungry for a snack, but there's notmuch to be had in Los Burritos, a ghost town where they've stopped to look for food. This follow-up to Mysteryof the Fun Park Phantom pits Fred, Daphne, Velma, Shaggy, andGreatest-of-all-Danes Scooby against the Faceless Rider, a mysterious spirit (or is it?)haunting the town. Thankfully, they're all back with the same groovy clothes, lingo, and music--plus the goofy humor--that made their '70s TV show so much funto watch.

To get to the bottom of what's spooking Los Burritos, the group must explore thetown and talk to everyone who crosses their path, all the while looking out forclues to help them solve the mystery at hand. To uncover the right information, players must perform semi-educational activities like setting a clock to theproper time, putting a puzzle together, and recalling details from the gameitself. There are also fun challenges throughout (Scooby takes on the FacelessRider in a pie fight to the finish, and later plays a mean game of horseshoes)to earn Scooby Snacks. These prove important when you want Shaggy and Scooby toenter an especially scary area--you'll have to bribe them with Scooby Snacks toget them to cooperate. The fun activities and puzzles, paired with all the crimesolving, push kids to use problem-solving skills and deductive reasoning. Whoknew Scooby could make you smarter?

In addition to being just plain retro fun, the game offers some help in solvingeach mystery (we found several in our gameplay): click on the Mystery, Inc. vanto review the clues you've collected, check your Scooby Snack count, or askScrappy for help. And to keep the games challenging as kids grow (or perhaps foradults to enjoy), players can select from three "spookiness" levels thatincrease in difficulty. Also included are very thorough gameplay instructionsand a Groovy Goodies section that includes fun tie-ins to the video- andDVD-only release, Scooby-Doo and theAlien Invaders. 5-0 out of 5 stars Scooby Doo, Through and Through!
Ignore the negative comments in any review of this game. More care went into creating it than into some of the original series episodes!
Scooby and the gang havea mystery to solve. There are Scooby snacks, train chases, clues and villians. What else can you ask for?
This game is a lot like a Putt Putt or Freddy Fish game. If you like those, or like Scooby Doo, you'll like this game. PS, you should be under 10 years old, but who's counting?

4-0 out of 5 stars This game is great!
First, I'd like to say that all the people that have reviewed this game are adults. Next, this game isn't for adults!! It's for kids!!
My sister and I REALLY enjoyed playing this game, it's simply a matter of opinion, some kids will find it fun, others just need more challenge then this game can give. I'm 12, and I still like playing this game, though I am starting to look for more of a challenge. This is one of those games you play for a while, then forget about it for a few months, then go back to it and refresh your memory on how it play it.
I love this game!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Fun first time only
Our 3 children love computer games, (ages 6,7,&8) but this one they only wanted to play once. The game is too repetetive, and not very challenging.

1-0 out of 5 stars Only for the REALLY YOUNG!!
I bought this for a family get together anticipating the kids would have a fun afternoon. They are all die hard Scooby fans!
We had problems from the start. We had to go to 3 websites to find the patch needed to run the game with Direct X 8. Although the graphics and animation were great, the kids solved the hardest level in just 30 minutes! The villian was the same and so were the clues. Even the video sequences were recycled on each level. The repetitive nature and the installation problems made us regret buying the game.

5-0 out of 5 stars Scooby Doo Showdown in Ghost Town

5-0 out of 5 stars School Zone does it again!
School Zone's Spelling Puzzles CD-Rom is an excellent home teaching aid. It features 30 different spelling worksheets. The program grades the child's work, tracks the child's progress and allows the child to correct answers. The worksheets are interspersed with humorous cartoons of 'cheerleaders' doing victory dances and making encouraging comments. In between worksheets, the child plays one of three computer games. My child became very excited about this program and completed the worksheets at a single sitting. I am duly impressed -- this CD is very well done. School Zone should be proud of itself. The worksheets themselves are very similar to the printed paper worksheets used in first grade classrooms. My son shows almost no interest in the paper worksheets handed out at his school but eagerly attacks School Zone's electronic version. This proves, once again, that inspired packaging and presentation make a difference.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun program
This game is really fun. It's not particularly deep, but it gets kids practising spelling and reading in a very exciting (not overstimulating) environment. The game contains sets of 30 worksheets that kids fill in, and they get rewarded with games (that are hard to master, but the challenge is actually motivating). Good, especially for the price, and there's a workbook included with the CD-ROM. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Eye-popping graphics, fanciful animation, and cool world music entertain you while you help clownish Steve and floppy-eared Blue complete three challenging, long-lasting treasure hunts. Of all the Blue's Clues software, this is the program most well suited for kindergartners. Not easily solved, these treasure hunts require you to amass a number of different items, not all in sequential order. While hunting for the scrolls, which lead to the treasure bug and the key, you're also looking for Blue's Clues, which help steer you toward one of the character's "favorite pleasures." Luckily, the highly affable Steve is always there to tell you where you are, what you should be looking for, and where you're going next. And over time, the logic becomes clearer, and it's pretty darn fun to have so many things to look for and record at once. Once you're oriented, your momentum builds in this game, leading to a true sense of triumph when you finally amass the three keys necessary to reach The Land of Discovery.Navigation may be tricky at first--prepare to sit with a child on her/his first time through the program and assist. For example, the yellow arrows that move you through certain areas of the hunt are positioned off in the upper left side of the screen, where they're easily confused with back buttons. As well, there is an unusual blend of view-only clips interspersed with the activities. A frustrated child may abandon the hunt during times when they are forced to pause their hunt, particularly if they are not devotees of Blue. Yet fans of the Nickelodeon TV show will likely take instantly to this skill-building adventure. (Ages 3-6) --Jean Lenihan ... Read more

Pit Droids poses the age-old math question: "If a droid traveling five miles per hour leaves Mos Espa at dawn, how long will it take to get to the Arena Gate?" Watto, Tatooine's notorious junk dealer, has purchased a large pit-droids shipment to help with the pod races. Naturally, the droids don't know the way, leaving you to direct the capering mechanoids to their goals by placing various arrows in their path.

Right from the slick panoramic interface, Pit Droids is a blast. C-3PO's thorough tutorials (featuring the inimitable Anthony Daniels) and R2-D2's chirpy in-game help will have you herding the hordes of droids in no time. Not only do you need to avoid collisions, you need to change droids' attributes, sort them, and adjust the timing of their patterns. While holding your attention with the frenetic puzzle-solving fun, Pit Droids quietly refines your logical-thinking and problem-solving skills, making it a great game for older children as well as adults.

Pit Droids rewards progress with comic short films of the clowning droids in action. Eight locations offer more than 300 puzzles spanning three levels of difficulty, and the Puzzle Editor lets you build your own devices. It's enough to keep you interested for as long as the droids keep you scrambling. --Jack Gardiner ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Fun Game!!
Almost endless amount of pre-created puzzle But then! You can creat your own! Loads of fun!

1-0 out of 5 stars This is not good
YO people, dont waste money on this. Trust me! It is boring. i mean, it takes forever to just beat one!

4-0 out of 5 stars Challenging, Graphic, and Limitless
Star Wars Pit Droids is not exclusively for Star Wars fans, and is an excellent puzzle game if you want one. It has three levels of play for all people. The goal is to use the arrows provided to literally point the different pit droids in the right direction. However, they have different colors, helmets, and tools, so you have to guide each type to their destintation. It's 3-D and has pretty good graphics. There's an online exchange for puzzles that you make, which has some EXTREMELY difficult puzzles, much harder than the game provides. Making a game in this is pretty easy, but picky. It doesn't agree with the standard Microsoft interface, and forces you to use buttons for cut-and-paste. The major downside to this game is that you can only save after completing a level, not during one. Overall, I suggest this for people who want to be challenged or to challenge others.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is hard, escpecially Hard Mode, but fun
This game is fun.You work on many puzzles to get your pit droids to the Podrace Arena.I won a T-shirt for a 13 year olds contest on this game,I had to get 144 pit droids to the Podrace Arena before too many other opponents did the same.I would recommend this game to any one who isn't too (not smart) as I wouldn't want to insult you readers! And also,if you want a cool pit droids T-Shirt,you can buy it now and practice until sometime in Year 2001.Then you can sign up for a totally cool contest!

4-0 out of 5 stars The "H-bomb" since Droidworks!
Pit Droids is the #1 maze/puzzle game! If you're a big fan of Star Wars or strategy, you should definitally buy this game! What I specifically like about Pit Droids is the great 3-D graphics, the challenge of the puzzles, and the hilarious slapstick "reward" cutscenes! But sometimes you may go crazy when you get to a frustrating part in a level, but don't worry about that little comment. Yep, it's another one of those Lucasarts/Learning masterpieces that quite often happen. I betcha when you pop this CD in your PC, you're going to think, "I didn't waste a dime on this thing!" ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?
This is a good game that will teach children about world geography but younger children may get frustrated with this game. It is really geared toward pre-teens and you have to listen closely to the clues in order to determine where is the world is Carmen. This game will work with Windows XP Home Edition but you have to run it in compatibility mode.

4-0 out of 5 stars Warning: It¿s not an easy game.
This game is a little frustrating for any child who cannot yet associate a continent with the following clues: kroner, Ho Chi Minh trail, outback, Sahara. I had to help out more than either of us would have liked. On the other hand, it's fun, so she is motivated to try. And she is learning a lot!

5-0 out of 5 stars Carmen has made my child a geography whiz!
I have a 10 year old daughter who I have seen spend, literally, multiple hours on our PC engaged in what I call "virtual globe- trotting" in an effort to find Carmen and her partners in crime.

Players use the Digiketch to piece together a composite image of the suspect as they unlock clues describing his/her appearance.(Once you get a complete image, you can issue an arrest warrant!)

There is a World Wiz Database that helps players learn more about the countries that the suspect may have visited. This game introduces foreign phrases, international travel, and problem solving skills in a way that no other medium could.

I highly recommend this game as a means by which a child's horizons can be greatly broadened.

5-0 out of 5 stars A first-class program.
I love this game. While chasing Carmen and her gang around the world, you come across funny characters, puzzling clues, interesting locations, and you learn a lot about geography and history at the same time! They did a magnificent job on this game - I wish I could find that missing last disk so I could install it again on my new computer!

5-0 out of 5 stars A lot of fun for a "kids game"
I bought this game for my wife as kind of a "gag gift" as she likes Scooby Doo (as do I) but the game is actually fun. You can play up to 4 players (Fred, Daphne, Velma, and Shaggy; you can't actually be Scooby but he does help you throughout the game) on 3 differnt difficulty settings to find the Phantom. This is where it may get a little repetitive though. The Phantom is 1 of the 8 other characters in the game. But the variety of traps one can lay for the Phantom actually keep you interested.

The game is more fun if you have some friends to play it with and is even a lot more fun over the internet (if you can find a game though) as you can sabatoge your opponent and not feel to guilty about it:-)

Overall the game is nicely done and is fun for the entire family. The graphics are nice and the sounds and voice overs are above average. Gameplay is fun and exciting and is great for kids as it challenges them to remember where the various clues and trap pieces were throughout the game. The game is a lot of fun and will not disappoint.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game
I bought this game because I love Scooby Doo. I thought the graphics were excellent(though I didn't think the characters looked exactly right), and the game was very captivating. You walk around looking for clues and traps, and when you get the right ones, you set the trap to capture the ghost. I was a little disappointed in that you can't be Scooby, but that wouldn't be really fair then, would it? I just got it and I really love it. The sound effects match up with the character's movements, and the videos are really quite good and fun to watch. The only major complaint I have is how LONG it takes to go through turns, but that really isn't a fixable problem. I really think the program is great!

1-0 out of 5 stars Back to the Stone Ages
This game was visually nothing. It really is just a tedious click, move a few steps, and click again to move a few more. The view is from overhead. You have to collect the correct combo of 3 pieces and go to the correct location to use them. With 27 possible pieces and 9 locations, it was just a real pain. No visual excitement. It must have been one of the first video games ever written.

4-0 out of 5 stars Scooby-Doo and friends help a couple in need of help!
If you are wondering why I am giving this 4 stars instead of my normal 5 stars, is because I think the computer players are smart, if you don't want them to be. Scooby-Doo and his pals, Fred, Daphne, Velma & Shaggy run into another mystery when thier mystery machine breaks down in front of the Gobs, a couple that is in trouble because they had to close down the park because the fun park phantom scared away thier guests.

At first, Mr. Gob thinks they are there for the park. So Mr. Gob strikes a deal, with Shaggy, Daphne, Fred & Velma that if they can find out who the phantom is he will fix thier mystery machine. So here is the areas of the park. Fun House, Midway, Log Flume, Ferris Wheel, Bumper Car, Pirate Ship, Roller Coaster, Merry-Go-Round and the Miniature World.

Now when you begin the six suspects are assigned to the areas of the park. And your character(s) are aslo assigned to an area(s) of the park. The suspects are a security guard, a magician, a farmer, a groundskeepr, a clown, and a banker. You'll find that these people all have a reason why they would like to see the park closed. Thier are 9 areas of the park and 6 will have a suspect in them where they are suposed to be for the whole game.

3-0 out of 5 stars Think before you buy this program
Though this has a similar title to the excellent game Scooby Doo Phantom of the Knight, this program is very different in style. The gang compete against each other to get the phantom (which doesn't make a whole lot of sense when you think about the show), and it gets so tiresome after awhile because it is played almost like a board game. You have to either play with a friend, or against the computer and end up doing a lot of waiting for others to take their turns. Fun for a little bit, but very tedious after awhile. The point is, this program is not terrible, but it is not what you would expect with the Scooby Doo name. It is a competitive game, whereas the Scooby Doo Phantom of the Knight is an adventure with the whole gang working together to solve a mystery together. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Super for kids age 2 - 4
I hadn't noticed this game because I find most Disney software to be lesser quality than several other brands; but then I read that Disney contracted Hulabee to design this program and I immediately purchased it. My four-year-old daughter who is an avid educational game player loved it. She finished it in less than an hour. The graphics are excellent; the game's design is Hulabee quality--both engaging and rich in problem solving education. The only problem was it was too easy for my girl. I recommend it for ages 2-4. However, despite it being too easy, by daughter continues to play it. It's a hit!

4-0 out of 5 stars Little Piglet, BIG Job
Piglet's Big Game is based on the movie, but has nothing in common with it. (Except for the title) This game is all about how Rabbit & his friends are going on a picnic, and Rabbit needs Piglet's help to go and gather ingredients for his soup, such as acorns, vegetables, pepper, "hunny", etc. Although, Rabbit thinks that Piglet is too small for such a big job. So Piglet sets out to prove himself. Along all of the winding paths & such, you will find acorns, needed for the soup. You need 10, but you can keep some extra ones... for a snack. You will encounter fun activities, such as The Pond Maze, Sorting Spices, Eeyore's Painting (my fave), and much more. This game is made by Hullabee Entertainment, which is the same company that made Mike's Monsterous Adventure. Really this game is just Mike for a younger audiance, but this has more activities and, when you love the Pooh gang, you just can't resist. You must be thinking to yourselves, if I liked this so much, why did I give it 4 stars? Well, they won't let you skip through the dialogue that you might already know about, and that can get annoying. But it's not that big a deal. Well, that's it. I hope this review has helped you and encourages you to get this CD-ROM.

4-0 out of 5 stars Short and Sweet
This is worth the purchase. The graphics are good, and the story is cute - but it only took about 40 minutes for me and my 5-year old to complete. He hasn't played it since completing it. The ending was a little disappointing - there's really not much to do after collecting the needed materials for the big soup. But again, it was cute, a nice tie in with the movie, and a good amount of fun for straight 30-40 minutes. Child could complete almost entirely on his own. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars My four year old son loves this game!
This is my sons first computer game and he asks to play it all the time. I showed him how to play each game and then he stayed busy for hours! I would reccomend this for ages four and above. I also have the Land before time preschool adventure but this one has funner games. The creative art game is really cute we laughed when we first tried it, first you pick a background scene, then you pick different characters and items which all do different things, like bubbles of water popping, Sarah jumping around in circles, birds flying and skeletons dancing, you can add as many as you want and its very entertaining. All the games are FUN learning activities. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars nickelodeon party blast, horrible game
this game was bought for my niece and son.installed the game and it constantly shuts off.screen flickers, you can't use the keyboard correctly and then it just shuts off.they say it won't work with intel chipsets, well i have a via chipset and amd processor.so i guess they're wrong there.i'm using an ati radeon 9700 pro card, amd athlon 2200+ so there is plenty of power.tried the latest via and ati drivers with no help at all.don't waste your money and thank god i only wasted 9.99 at target.i also tried to totally clean the registry of all traces and it doesn't help.even a fresh install of xp didn't help.so there you have it.one last thing, there are no patches to download and support is like talking to a brick wall, except the wall might be more helpfull cause you can at least smash the cd off it.

I also could not get the game to run. It would start and then give an error. Tried installing a couple times and still would not work. Looking at the other reviews, guess this is a common problem. It appears I have the minimum system requirements, but still doesn't work. I would not have purchased if I had known the problems.
