3-0 out of 5 stars Baby drugs
I call this baby drugs because when my child plays this game he becomes completely involved and will watch it forever. However, this is not really and interactive game as much as it is a video on the computer. True, the child must press some key for the game to continue, but it is highly irregular. At some points in the game pressing the keyboard will do nothing until the entire scene has been played. In my opinion this leads to the child not truly understanding the cause and effect of pressing the keyboard. The child never has to "point and click" but they can drag the mouse over the item desired to select and it will automatically choose it. The problem this leads to is if the mouse stays in the correct spot the game will continue to move forward with no requirement of the child. Its rather difficult to explain, but the best way to put it is that this turns into a video for the child to watch. It does not require any parental control so if you need to do a chore and keep your child interested without your supervision this game works. However, if you truly want your child to have an interactive game I would advise Reader Rabit. This game will keep your childs attention but it would be cheaper to just buy a DVD. You child will learn just as much from that. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars mother of two busy boys
I purchased this package two years ago when my oldest son was almost 4 years old. He seldom played with Little Bear, liked the computer adventure with Arthur, but loved Dr. Seuss. This CD ROM alone has been paid for over and over. The features that are great for the children not only include the 7 areas of play (sequencing, measuring, matching, alphabet, spelling, grouping, and math..... plus other little things to do along the way), but the ability to change the level of difficulty within each area. There are 3 levels of difficulty for each area that allow the child to master a level then challenge themselves to the next level of difficulty. It is easy to move up or down a level during the game.

Follow along with your child so you know what they mean when they tell you they like "the Star Belly Sneeches" or "the Rumble Tub", and "Truffula Fruits" the best. The Dr. Seuss vernacular is another one of those things that makes this game unique.

We own about 15 childrens' CD-Roms and this one is by far the favorite. It is fun for the children while the parents feel like they are actually learning something. Our oldest child is on the verge of out growning it (6 years), but our second child, age 3, is right there to take his place.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Programs, Good Value
These are not my four-year-old daughter's favorite programs but she does choose them occasionally from her CD-ROM album. The graphics are not cutting edge crisp but are still good by 2003 standards. Parents should love the Dr. Seuss as it brought back a lot of nostalgia for me. My daughter's first book to read on her own was Green Eggs & Ham so it's fun for her to see Dr. Seuss on computer too. All three games are highly educational and a good value sold together. It seems the "Little Bear" title is much easier than the other two.

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved the Dr. Seuss game
We have bought several CD packs for our 3 yr old daughter including: Living books: Grandma & Me, Brighter Child: The Muppets, Jumpstart: Numbers, Jumpstart: ABC's, and Jumpstart:Pre-K. Adventure Workshop: Preschool-1st grade seems by far the best. Arthur's Computer Adventure (part of this Adventure Workshop pack)is on par with Just Grandma & Me. Both are interactive stories that our daughter enjoys working with. She particularly likes the cashier section of the story.

Little Bear (also part of the Adventure Workshop pack) is a fun game. Our daughter really likes making cookies and dressing up various characters. But, by far the best, is the Dr. Seuss game. We really like this game because it is very educational. Our daughter really likes this game because she really likes the song and dance of the various Dr. Seuss creatures and the background story the games take place in. Unlike the similar Jumpstart games, the Adventure workshop games are challenging without causing her to feel frustrated if she hasn't mastered the task. Dr. Seuss has really helped our daughter better grasp counting and adding, recognize patterns, and identify letters of the alphabet. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Let your child escape into a fairy-tale world with the Barbie as Princess Bride CD-ROM, and help Princess Bride Barbie prepare for her magical wedding day. Prince Ken has had to undertake a long journey, and while he is away Princess Barbie dreams of her wedding day and waits for the prince's return. Barbie is helped by Butterfly Fairy in her preparations for the wedding. Invite the guests, make and decorate the cake, sing love songs, retrieve items from the well, conduct the orchestra, help Prince Ken sail home, design the wedding dress and photographs, and enjoy many more exciting fairy-tale activities.

The game can be played in two modes: Story mode plays the adventure from start to finish, and Magic Mirror mode allows players to complete the activities in any order. The CD-ROM is accompanied by an excellent booklet, which should be read before beginning. It is very easy to follow and uses simple language and visual clues. Particularly useful are the helpful tips for troubleshooting if problems arise. The music of Barbie as Princess Bride can be played on any audio CD player, by starting with track two. The manufacturer's recommended age range is 4 and older, but help will certainly be required at the lower end of the range. --Susan Naylor, Amazon.co.uk ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars For the Girl in All of us!
I have 2 young girls (5 & 3), they both love this game! They get to decorate a wedding cake, design a wedding gown for Barbie and for the flower girl, bake a cake, etc. There is a lot of learning in this while they enjoy themselves! They learn to follow directions and even a bit of fine motor skills to get the items out of the well. Memory skills are enhanced with collecting the invitations and delivering them. Any young girl will enjoy this game! Good buy!

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Good
My daughter liked this C.D. Rom and she is 4. She needed some help, I wish they would put setting for different levels on the some of the activites. The mazes, cake baking, and music were to difficult and she needed some help, but overall she had fun. I don't think an older child would have problems. The music is pretty and the whole adventure is enchanting. My daughter loves dressing her for the wedding.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Software
I love playing Barbie Princess Bride. It's WONDERFUL!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Barbie as Princess Bride
My 4 1/2 year old twins (a girl and a boy) just LOVE this game! They especially enjoy decorating the wedding cake! I highly recommend this game for young children.

3-0 out of 5 stars Fancy girls will love this
My daughter received this for her fourth birthday. She is a girly girl and LOVED it immediately. Almost a year later, she still plays it. It has a lot of different kinds of activities. Some are educational (matching, following instructions) and some are just fun (choosing the style of the dresses, decorating a wedding cake). My only wish is that this game had levels of difficulty. My daughter played with this so frequently when she first got it that she mastered it quickly. And while she still has fun with it, the challenge of it is long gone. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun to Play
This game was fun and exiting to play. You find neat clues, follow footprints and look for handprints, and even chase suspects on cool rides. The clues and the theif/kidnapper change each time, and it is always fun to see where the clues lead you too. The only problem with it is that Barbie walks way too slow! If only she would ever run, maybe the game would be more exiting and less frustrating when you try to get her to move.

4-0 out of 5 stars MsDollie
My four nieces (ages 8 to 12) really enjoy this game. There are times when the clues are well hidden and take some careful examination to find, but that is part of the fun. There are several games to play within the mystery setting. Our only real complaint is that Barbie moves slowly through the carnival setting. We always want her to run - especially when following a hot clue!

4-0 out of 5 stars Detective Barbie at the Carnival
I found this game a bit too hard or a glitch in there.

After looking for Ken and the clues seemed futile, my daughter and I really enjoyed the rides.

We quit worrying about find Ken and figured he left the park, so we went on the rides.

It is fun, but a few minutes of rides and we were ready to leave the park.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Computer game ever!!!!!!!!!!
Barbie Detective Carnival Caper, was the first computer game i ever had and i have to say it's better than any computer games in the world!

4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Cool

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Educational Fun!
When my 6 year old was struggling with new math concepts, I bought a lot of software. I wanted something for her that was both educational, and fun. This program is by far the best we've tried. You can set the difficulty levels, so kids don't get frustrated, but also they don't get bored. The characters are really cute, and because there is an overall goal of building the boat, kids want to keep playing! For each 3-5 question activity they complete, they get a boat part as a reward. The various activities cover all math basics, including fractions, money, and time.

With other programs, my daughter would play, and then get bored or overly frustrated very quickly, but because of the ability to customize this game to your child's skill level, she played for hours and hours. The skill levels on it vary widely, so it can teach concepts from a 1st through 3rd grade level, unlike so many games that are only relevant for one grade. My daughter's gotten tons of fun math practice out of this game, and she's still playing! I'd recommend it to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars A kid favorite!
My sons will be in 2nd and 3rd grade in the fall. They just love this game and would rather play it than any of their other games. I hope to find a sequel for they will be done with this game before long.

5-0 out of 5 stars we love it
We got this software for our five year old daughter and she loves it. At first she needed some parents' help. But soon she likes to play by herself, occasionally asks some questions. She got it a few weeks ago and has already learned so much from it. Her favorite parts are actually pretty challenging for a five year old -- fraction, money and time. She will need to learn some more from school to play the difficult part of this game, but she can already "play" most of it. she enjoys play and learn at the same time. we are very happy about this game. Our daughter is a very advanced five year old who joins 2nd grade reading group in her school everyday. This software helps her catch up with the math part and really enjoy it.

Okay, I'm in sixth grade- a little old for a second grade game, but I DON'T CARE! This is a really great computer game that features my favorite Reader Rabbit character, Sam the Lion. 4-0 out of 5 stars Please help me with this. -
My 4 year old son absolutely loves toy story. He has 3 toy story CD Roms, and every toy, tape, and cd that can ever go w/ it. The problem is, I have been trying for months to get the Animated Storybook cd rom to work properly. I know it has something to do with quicktime, I am pretty sure. I think I have a newer version of quicktime, and it wants to install and delete it, but the pc won't allow it to. Well, I get as far as Ham telling you how to play, press on the play icon and it dies on me. Always w/ a message regarding qtc or pixo, both having to do with quicktime. Once I actually got all the way to the claw game, what a dissapointment that was to my 4 year old. The first day I put it in months ago, it worked great, the next morning, it never worked past Ham at the beginning again. Any ideas? Please, help, my son will grow out of his love for these characters before I know it, and I would love for him to be able to enjoy this cd rom. Thanks

5-0 out of 5 stars My son loves it
We got this for my four year old son for Christmas. He is big into Toy Story and just loves it. He will play hours at a time without a peep. With its different levels I expect he will be entertained for some time to come. Even his older sister, who is 7, enjoys playing the game. I would recommend it highly. Keep them coming Disney!

He is able to navigate it with a mouse all by himself from the beginning to the end. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Fantasy Dressing Artist Designer Dream for Every Princess
This is soooooo fun and beautifull and all the princesses! No problem at all with my computer in installing and the voices are beautifull and clear. I guess the sound in the other reviewer's computer must have had a problem. This is the BEST fashion cd rom with the plus of having the princesses in it that I have seen. My daughter is 4 and can play with it. But its a discovery type game, ie you find out how everything works as you get more familiar with it. In the beginning things seem not to be working but with time you see that OH, now I have to drag and click not just click, or OH here you have to click on the icon first and then on the picture for it to do what you want! Have patience and you will become an expert princess! Very cheap for the amount of stuff you can do with it, also grows with the child. For young ones mom should play with it BEFORE the child to avoid initial frustration so you can explain some of the quirks to her first. Happy princessing this is a dream!

4-0 out of 5 stars Am I missing Something?
My boys (ages 5/6) could not get past level one on this game. Some of the items that needed to be found, never made their appearance. I even tried. Perhpas we got a bad copy.
I must say from a parent's point of view the music drove me nuts!!! Same little tune, played over and over....it never changes.

4-0 out of 5 stars Endless fun
My six and nine year olds have a blast with this. At first they were a bit confused about what to do but once they figured it out they loved it. There are different scenarios, much like the Freddi Fish games so it is never boring.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun Camping Adventures
Our 4 year old has had a blast playing this game. It is loads of fun exploring around the campsite, climbing up (and sliding down) Mount Rockslide, and looking for helpful objects which will allow The Brain to construct a signalling device.

There are simple, yet challenging activities, like constructing a tent, which have been fun, and all of the Arthur characters, with their trademark personalities are there to help. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars It's ok but dont expect your child to learn math...
I was disappointed with this CD. There are only 5 or 6 activities on this CD (Other CDs offer more). In a specific game you quickly get through all the options and start soon with reputations. The differences between the levels is too steep so my kid cant really use them all or progress through them. For example: The first level of a game, the child was shown a shape and had to say how many sides there were. The last level was multiplication and division problems. That's a span of 2-9 year olds! I guess its good if you have kids with a wide range of ages. My son wasn't so happy that he couldn't do the last level but was very bored with the first and second level. Children can't actually learn math here on their own. It doesnt offer those kind of games. Theres a painting game (math?!), a maze, a find an object by hints. I was expecting adding and subtracting but there is very little of that. No classic math, maybe math prep.. The good pointer is that the games are fairly easy to play so children can get on their own and of course it IS Arthur...

A win2000 note: although it does work, the sound gets cut all the time so you get partial sentences. It doesnt bother playing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Arthur Teaches Math and Makes it Easy...
I think by using Arthur, who is a favorite character of my grandchildren, they will always learn easier from a character they like. Also, this book makes it simple and easy to learn and fun to learn. It is a great learning tool. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Gotta love I SPY!
We love all of the I Spy software and books. This one was not a disappointment. All of the I Spy games are simple for the very young child... So long as they can click the mouse, they can play the game. Clues are read to you so that reading is not necessary. This particular I Spy game is NOT as good as the others in the series, however it is a must have for any I Spy fan!

5-0 out of 5 stars Perfectly suited for preschoolers
My son just turned three and this program is perfectly suited to his skills. The six differect games within the program provide a good variety of activities. There's even one game where you can create you own I Spy page to print out. The oral directions are very clear and simple for little ones who cannot yet read.
I believe this game is time well spent on the computer. The program presents challenging thinking games and not just mindless flash. We also like the music that introduces and ends the program.

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Cute.
This is a very cute set of games all based on the I Spy books. In one game the kids search for items just like in the book, in another game they sort objects into venn circles. My two going on three year old son enjoys playing this for about a half an hour at a time. This helps develop visual discrimination among other things.

Having said all of that, this is one of my least favorite computer games to watch him play. Compared to some of the others he has, I find this one to be a bit boring. But it's not me that is playing it. I'd rate it a high four or low five because of this one reason. Otherwise I think it's a fine set of games.

The pictures are excellent. The skills that children learn in these games are good pre reading skills and that is good.

Enjoy.

1-0 out of 5 stars No legs
This game is great. My 46 month old really enjoyed it ... for about two or three hours, when she had played it out. There are a very limited number of "screens," and they don't even randomize their arrangement.

It's a shame, because the puzzles with the circles (think Venn diagrams from elementary school math) are a wonderful twist.

Therefore, I have to say the game "has no legs."

4-0 out of 5 stars Does not Work on Windows XP
This game would not run on Windows XP out of the box. Scholastic support did not have a solution but I found it would run in compatibility mode.

My son loves the games and puzzles. This was a truly great learning game for kids. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars really cool game, works great!
this game was awesome!! the different sub-games are exciting and exploring the island was cool. the only problem was that it's not possible to delete games that are maessed up. otherwise, this game rocks!

1-0 out of 5 stars Lego Extreme Stunts
We were very displeased with this product! We could not get it to run. We contacted the Lego Company about the problem with no response. My son loves Legos and enjoys his Lego Racers 2 game. We were very disappointed that the Extreme Stunts would not work.

3-0 out of 5 stars GREAT GAME...NEEDS MORE LEVELS!
This game excels in graphics, but it lacks in the number of levels it offers. The main point of the game is to go from film shoot to film shoot to build an action stunt movie and you, Pepper, are the main stunt man! This game allows you to fly, drive, and jet-ski, which is great but it just isn't long enough to suit a big gamer like myself. I am glad I spent money on it, because it is very enjoyable and addictive.

5-0 out of 5 stars Super Fun Game!!!
It's so much fun!
You play as Peper (a lego guy) and you go through
the game with a choice of walking around lego island talking
to differnt pepole, or making scenes in a movie (that Peper stars in) by completing levels that he must drive cars, boats, and a plane! But the best thing is he can skatebaord
whenever he wants! And he can do tricks with it!
He can also through pizas in pepoles face!
If you like fun and a chalenge this game is for you!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars One of the most innovating games yet
I totally disagree to tanis1111's review of this excellent title.

Keeping in mind that I played literally hundreds of games so far, (some good, some bad), I've become quite spoilt with games; so far, out of 50 games I play, I usually only like one or two to the extent of me actually playing on and on to complete them. Usually, I get fed up by the annoying gameplay, or the repetitiveness of the game in general.

Having played several other LEGO games as well, I found that LEGO Island Xtreme Stunts successfully combines a lot of different genres, to bring the LEGO world to life. I found this title quite refreshing; not only can the character walk and swim around this unique island; he can also use his skateboard, or drive/fly/sail using vehicles found on the island. Additionally, the stunts really do combine a lot of genres: race and trash the opponent on land, sea or even in the air! Solve interesting logic puzzles or just use your skateboard to go about the island, performing neat tricks as you go.
Whereas I found other PC game titles like Tony Hawk's Pro Skater, The Need for Speed and Crazy Taxi a bit boring and repetitive, LEGO Island Xtreme Stunts manages to combine all these games, and successfully place it in a world based on the LEGO universe, balancing the game so it never becomes boring.

I caught myself playing this game for hours. IMO, the bottom line for this game is the fact that it's a great deal, figuring the graphics are OK, the sound rocks ('radio'-music along the lines of GTA3 is present), and the gameplay never gets old. I'd recommend this game to anyone, seeing this package offers a great mixture of a lot of games, yet being very well priced. ... Read more
