5-0 out of 5 stars Fun, fun, fun
I am a teacher of pre-school children with physical disabilities. The children in my classroom LOVE this game. They were so motiviated to play it that they learned to clip, drag and drive the trucks themselves. These are children who otherwise have motor and perceptual difficulties. They sing the songs together and have a great time. I highly recommend it to parents, and teachers alike. My only problem is getting them to play something else!

4-0 out of 5 stars Plain Old Fun
My 4 1/2 year old son loves playing this game. It's just plain fun for him. He does not have difficulty in moving the mouse to perform various functions. In fact, he seems to be able to move about within the program very well. I would recommend this game.

3-0 out of 5 stars again, simple, but loved by my son
This allows my son to smash things or blow em up, build things, and make pictures. OK, relatively mindless, but he loves it and can interact instead of passing watching the TV.

Recommended with these limitations in mind. It is a good deal in this day and age when taking your kids to the movies can bust the budget.

3-0 out of 5 stars Would be a great game, but software flaky and untested
This would be a great game, but on the Mac it freezes up the whole machine after one or two minutes of play, and on the PC it loses sound intermittently. Also some of the activities evidently have not been properly play tested - e.g. the crane game requires far too much precision for a young child, otherwise it would be a great "fine motor" activity. I would say spend the extra $$$ and get Tonka Digs 'n' Rigs, which is very similar, is much more reliable, and comes with add on controls for the PC. [NB: since I originally wrote this review, we've had more success running this on the PC, and if we avoid the frustrating activities such as the crane, my 4 year old actually does get a lot of enjoyment from some of the other activities. I'll now upgrade my rating from 1 star to 3 stars, but I'd still recommend Digs 'n' Rigs over this title.] ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, but not educational
Unfortunately, my daughter loves this game and will not choose other software games over this one. What really irritates me is the whole "Software for Girls" marketing statement. My daughter loves Barbie, but she is also a very intelligent 5 year old who excels at other appropriately challenging games. What kind of message is Barbie trying to send girls!??!!! To me, it is insulting. You can make it both fun and educational as other character software titles have, such as Blues Clues and the Disney series. You would be much better off choosing a different character that your child loves, such as Dora. Hopefully, the latest titles from Barbie are more challenging. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Software for Preschoolers
I purchased the Fisher Price Garage software for my 4 year old grandson. I was leery of buying it since I had previously purchased some poorly designed and frustrating software for preschoolers. I am happy to say I am very impressed with this one. One of the things I like the most about it is it's perfect for his age and his present computer skills. The visual and verbal instructions are very straighforward--he has had no trouble understanding what to do. Since he cannot read yet, he only needed a little help the first few times using it.

There are activities for children with different levels of computer skills. (I would say a 3 year old could do some of the activities.) Some of the features he could do all by himself the first time which made him feel competent (and made me happy because I didn't have to listen to whining). The Diesel's Palace maze (similar to a Pac-man game) is more of a challenge for him. It is great to have a racing game that a preschooler can do too--I think it is just right for a 4 year old--challenging and fun, but not so hard he never wins. The car detailing feature is also impressive--quite a few vehicle choices and many, many stickers to "jazz things up". Loads of fun for preschool boys or girls.

Overall, I am very happy with this software and my grandson just loves it--he is learning more computer skills, has a lot of laughs, and just plain fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great for introducing the computer to preschoolers!
I picked this up on a lark, not knowing that my three-year-old would take over the computer! He LOVES this software so much that he wants to play with it first thing in the morning--and all day if it were possible. It is perfect for teaching preschoolers how to use a mouse. The activities are simple and loads of fun. I've tried other software packages designated for preschoolers, but they were too complicated to hold my son's attention. His favorite part is spray-painting the car and printing out the picture. Now our house is plastered with these "works of art!" The great thing is that he's learning to use the computer while being challenged and entertained.

5-0 out of 5 stars From the Mom of a car crazy kid!!
Tommy Treads is a friendly little car who captivated my 3 year old and still has his attention 1-1/2 years later. Children can use their problem solving skills, race at the track, paint and detail in the body shop, give a tune-up and much, much more with this fun and creative software. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy for kids to do and FUN
Reader Rabbit Toddler is the best software I have bought so far - its easy for my son to use (if kids cannot use the mouse yet most games work just by hitting keys) and has alot of fun activities. From the main menu you move a "Star flower" to one of nine fun activities - including an alphabet train where you match the letter key to the boxcar to see it open; a musical meadow where you move a bee from flower to flower to hear them play; a bubble castle where you pop bubbles to free the animals - it has a variety of fun activities that my son has loved from 18 months to 3+.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great fun but a bit buggy
This program is a lot of fun and has a variety of activities to delight little ones. Because the activities can all be done just by moving the mouse or trackball (without pressing buttons), even a very beginning mouser can manage it. Pressing (or pounding on) keys also causes things to happen on the screen, so even without using the mouse your child can have a great time if you are brave enough to let him or her pound on your keyboard (not necessarily recommended - my daughter made off with my Z last week!) Many of the toddler activities are simple enough to do that a younger child can enjoy them too (but they still have learning potential for the toddler). My only complaint is that the program seems a bit buggy. It periodically locks up my computer so I have to reboot, which is very frustrating for my daughter. Overall it's a lot of fun.

By the way, this program is a combination of Playtime for Baby and Playtime for Toddler packaged together. I was a little confused about how these products were related originally.

5-0 out of 5 stars A joy for my 20-month-old daughter
My daughter Catherine enjoys this software package far more than the other two computer games we have for her (Lego Preschool MyStyle and Disney's Mickey Toddler, both of which are good in their own right). There are lots of activities involving cute animated animals, and Catherine never gets bored -- even Daddy is entertained. Some of our favorites are the Kaleidoscope at the Baby level, and the Bubble Castle and the Musical Meadow at the Toddler level.

The sounds, colors, and animation are excellent throughout. Many activities allow use of the keyboard as well as the mouse, a very nice feature for youngsters who can pound on keys with more facility than they can navigate by mouse.

5-0 out of 5 stars At last, something my little girl can do on the computer!
Emily was dying to "work" on the computer, but she kept hitting Windows buttons and crashing the machine. We bought Reader Rabbit and suddenly, hitting buttons actually made things happen (besides Mama yelling "stop!") and the "bad" buttons were disabled. Even the mouse is fun to use, because you can reunite lost baby animals with their parents, color a picture that sings to you, create music of your own, or many, many other great activities. Great software, very well done.

5-0 out of 5 stars So cute!
This game is adorable! My 11 month old son loves it and it keeps him mesmerized. He especially like it when he can 'interact' and pound away on the keyboard. Even my 4 year old son begs to play this game! Highly recommend! ... Read more

No Need to Hide When It's Dark Outside features engaging adventures that come to life through feature-film quality animation and original music. It encourages critical thinking, problem-solving skills, memory, and mental mapping.

Pajama Sam's SockWorks generates a unique 100-level game each session. 5-0 out of 5 stars More excellent titles from Humongous
"PJS: No Need To Hide" is the flagship title in this package -- interesting how these get cheaper with time! -- and is a very competent program in both animation and game play. There is a reasonable amount of problem-solving required to get through the game, things like finding the missing gear to make a machine work, enough so that a younger kid will definitely need some adult guidance. (If you get stuck, the publisher's web site provides hints!) Our son enjoyed the game immensely at age 4 going on 5 but still goofs off with it -- now knowing all the puzzles -- at age 6.

Pajama Sam compares well to the same company's Freddi Fish series, if you are familiar with those. Definitely worth the price, and you can always pass the CD-ROM along to a friend later, like a book you enjoyed.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pajama Sam Experience
This great value pack has three terrific games in it. In "No Need to Hide When It's Dark Outside" Pajama Sam must go on a problem solving educational but fun adventure to the land of Darkness to defeat his worst fear. He might just learn something about Darkness, though. In "Sock Works", Sam must sort his socks. It's a big job, but Sam makes a dream machine to do it for him. There are 250 levels, but the computer pick 100 as you go along. You can even construct your own levels with an easy to use level builder. In Pajama Sam's One Stop Fun Shop, Sam has finished his chores and can make lots of fun projects from cards, to signs, to mobiles and paper airplanes, to party hats and placemats! I would seriously recommend this game. If you want more info on this product, look at the games individually. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Pit Droids poses the age-old math question: "If a droid traveling five miles per hour leaves Mos Espa at dawn, how long will it take to get to the Arena Gate?" Watto, Tatooine's notorious junk dealer, has purchased a large pit-droids shipment to help with the pod races. Naturally, the droids don't know the way, leaving you to direct the capering mechanoids to their goals by placing various arrows in their path.

Right from the slick panoramic interface, Pit Droids is a blast. C-3PO's thorough tutorials (featuring the inimitable Anthony Daniels) and R2-D2's chirpy in-game help will have you herding the hordes of droids in no time. Not only do you need to avoid collisions, you need to change droids' attributes, sort them, and adjust the timing of their patterns. While holding your attention with the frenetic puzzle-solving fun, Pit Droids quietly refines your logical-thinking and problem-solving skills, making it a great game for older children as well as adults.

Pit Droids rewards progress with comic short films of the clowning droids in action. Eight locations offer more than 300 puzzles spanning three levels of difficulty, and the Puzzle Editor lets you build your own devices. It's enough to keep you interested for as long as the droids keep you scrambling. --Jack Gardiner ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Fun Game!!
Almost endless amount of pre-created puzzle But then! You can creat your own! Loads of fun!

1-0 out of 5 stars This is not good
YO people, dont waste money on this. Trust me! It is boring. i mean, it takes forever to just beat one!

4-0 out of 5 stars Challenging, Graphic, and Limitless
Star Wars Pit Droids is not exclusively for Star Wars fans, and is an excellent puzzle game if you want one. It has three levels of play for all people. The goal is to use the arrows provided to literally point the different pit droids in the right direction. However, they have different colors, helmets, and tools, so you have to guide each type to their destintation. It's 3-D and has pretty good graphics. There's an online exchange for puzzles that you make, which has some EXTREMELY difficult puzzles, much harder than the game provides. Making a game in this is pretty easy, but picky. It doesn't agree with the standard Microsoft interface, and forces you to use buttons for cut-and-paste. The major downside to this game is that you can only save after completing a level, not during one. Overall, I suggest this for people who want to be challenged or to challenge others.

4-0 out of 5 stars This is hard, escpecially Hard Mode, but fun
This game is fun.You work on many puzzles to get your pit droids to the Podrace Arena.I won a T-shirt for a 13 year olds contest on this game,I had to get 144 pit droids to the Podrace Arena before too many other opponents did the same.I would recommend this game to any one who isn't too (not smart) as I wouldn't want to insult you readers! And also,if you want a cool pit droids T-Shirt,you can buy it now and practice until sometime in Year 2001.Then you can sign up for a totally cool contest!

4-0 out of 5 stars The "H-bomb" since Droidworks!
Pit Droids is the #1 maze/puzzle game! If you're a big fan of Star Wars or strategy, you should definitally buy this game! What I specifically like about Pit Droids is the great 3-D graphics, the challenge of the puzzles, and the hilarious slapstick "reward" cutscenes! But sometimes you may go crazy when you get to a frustrating part in a level, but don't worry about that little comment. Yep, it's another one of those Lucasarts/Learning masterpieces that quite often happen. I betcha when you pop this CD in your PC, you're going to think, "I didn't waste a dime on this thing!" ... 2-0 out of 5 stars Great Idea But Full of Programming Bugs
My three yr old loves Richard Scarry's Busytown so it was a natural choice for him. However, he was very disapointed to find one of the games (the garage) did not work at all and several of the others have programming quirks. If the cursor isn't positioned just right the game doesn't work. My advice is to select something else or wait for another imporved version.

1-0 out of 5 stars disappointing
I brought this because I loved richard scary as a child but was totally disappointed with the game. There is no replayabilty with the only variation in the game being in the gas station and the parcel delivery. But the children soon got bored. The best part is playing with the wind. The mouse control is very poor ending up with frustrated children. The only way to get into the gas station was to put the whole game onto the hard drive.

5-0 out of 5 stars Bustown 2000 CD-ROM
I started with Busytown Software back in 1995 with our first son when it ran on DOS and barely on Win95. The program worked well. After reading about BT 2000, I was reluctant to buy it. I did buy it this past week, had the same problem with the gas station and within 24 hours, SSI Tech support emailed the file to copy from the CD to the Hard Drive. About a 30 second fix and the game functions flawlessly. If your child loves Richard Scarry books and videos, this is a must have to compliment what they read and view to give them hands on interaction that is unlike any other application that I have seen. My first son is now almost 7 and is teaching his 3 year old brother how to play the game.

4-0 out of 5 stars My son loves it.
The Busy Town CD-ROM is educational and fun. There are a lot of different activities and for a 3-4 year-old to play with on his own. But you do have to have a fast computer. One of our computers was too slow and it was impossible to play the program on it. Our other computer was fast enough. We had problems getting into the gas station game. I sent an email to technical support and received a message explaining how to copy a file from the CD-ROM to my hard drive and now it works great! We are very satisfied with it. It was definitely worth the price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great if you can get it to work
I understand the complaints of the previous reviewers. I could not get this program to run on the PowerMac and it also had a lot of problems when I ran it on the iMac while networked to the PowerMac. But once the iMac stood alone, I only had minor problems with this program. It is a big memory hog.

It's a really super program if you can get it to run. I'd pay special attention to the system requirements before buying.

There are 12 different activities which teach your child all kinds of things. It's great for pretend role play also. Pump gas, serve customers in a deli, build a house, get a ship ready for sea, etc.

It's too bad this title has compatibility problems with so many systems, because it really is a beautifully done program. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Fun Game That Helps with the Basics
This is one of the few games we own that challenges my four-year-old without boring him. Some of the other software we've purchased is too complicated for him to navigate on his own or the lessons are too basic. When he gets stuck in this game, a cartoon character pops up and gives a brief lesson. The lessons are short and catchy enough that they are actually interesting. Of course, my son often ignores the directions and moves through the game by trial and error. It helps to have an adult sit with him, so that he gets some educational value out of playing. On the other hand, sometimes we just let him do the trial and error thing, and he still has a great time. I think this is a wonderful game for a four-year-old to grow into. It helps, of course, that my son is a big Mickey Mouse fan.

The software basically allows the child to go to different "rooms" and complete tasks (games) that teach basic skills. In one room, the game is to alphabetize books that are labeled with just one letter of the alphabet. In another game, the child assembles suits of armor. Each piece of the armor is labeled with a number, and the child has to put the numbered armor together in different ways. The games get progressively more difficult as the child masters each step. I'm especially impressed with the fun way this game introduces addition and subtraction.

I'm now looking for a new game, and I'm trying to find one that's a cross between this software and Jumpstart's World Languages (the other game my son always wants to play.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Fun....And Learning, Too!
This is a really great game. In it, Minnie, Mickey, Goofy, Pluto and Donald have to navigate through a spooky old house while being watched by those "3 spooky ghosts" from one of the old Disney movies. There are five or six areas to navigate, and it also includes a progress chart area like the Jumpstart series. This is a lot more fun, tho. If you have ever been to the Haunted Mansion at DisneyWorld it makes it even better. My daughter who is almost 5 has been doing very well with it and instead of being bored with the "educational" components, she is having fun with it and being excited about learning. Def buy it! ... The story is wonderfully written (as are all of Marc Brown's "Arthur" tales) and translates well to the computer screen. I think I get just as many laughs out of the hidden objects as my son does! He was really excited when he found that some items, like Mr. Ratuburn's suit, show different results each time you click!

A wonderful cd-rom for your child. Enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great edutainment software!
Excellent education/entertainment package. Both of my kids love to click the screen (almost anywhere) and watch the action.

Arthur's fear of Mr. Ratburn (his new third grade teacher) is put to rest as Arthur begins to prepare for the spelling bee. Reading and spelling (as well as Spanish) are taught in this beautiful, exciting package that your kids will love.

Arthur's Teacher Trouble was the first "Living Books" title we purchased. We now own about a dozen, but this is by far the favorite.

5-0 out of 5 stars Arthur's Teacher Trouble - Excellent trouble!
This CD is not only ingenius for kids, but parents will have just as much fun playing with it. The graphics are great and very clever. The best Living Book that I've seen to date. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Barbie Beauty Styler
I kind of like this game because you can decorate clothes, but it isn't really very fun. I don't understand why it's called beauty styler, because the only hairdoes you can give them are round curls, bangs, big curls, hair that looks like rope, and some more. The hair doesn't even look real. And you can't save very many pictures. And if you want to use the close up, and you want to color a shirt with the hair, you can't color the bottom that's not in the square.
And if you keep undoing things, whenever you undo something all the old things will come back, then disappear, and if you got rid of a bunch of things, it will tke a long time for them all o come back then disappear.

Amazon.com Review

Armed with pizzas, a skateboard, and a cool attitude, Pepper Roni--a freckle-faced pizza delivery boy--must save LEGO Island from a bad guy called the Brickster. Our hero dude travels from the depths of the sea to the outer limits of space (to Ogel Island... get it?) in pursuit of his man in this engrossing CD-ROM.

Boasting a whopping 18 subgames scattered throughout an intricate realm of islands, undersea worlds, deserts, and space, LEGO Island 2 focuses more on adventure and less on construction than previous LEGO titles. Players assume the identity of renaissance dude Pepper: pizza delivery, deep sea diving, astronaut training, and jousting are just a handful of the well-rendered experiences that await adventurers. The arrow keys get quite a workout as the game progresses, as they control everything from speedboats to parachutes to tyrannosaurs as Pepper changes modes of transport. Pepper churns through this world fending off the Brickster's henchmen robots, collecting pages of a "Constructopedia," and mastering various challenges in order to progress. Subgames must be completed in a sequence, and can then bere-accessed from Pepper's house. Players must work to build Pepper's pad, find the subgames, and chat with other characters for clues about how to move through this LEGO landscape. Players who want it all handed to them on one clickable screen will be frustrated: LEGO wants you to work for your pleasure, and get some calluses on those fingertips.

The charm of this impressive Windows-only program lies in the attention paid to detail, dialogue, and creative fun. The undersea game doesn't just have fish--it has narwhals and rowdy pirate skeletons growling curses. A knight straight out of Monty Python and the Holy Grail intones "Nay, nay, nay, one-who's-name-is-a-spice" when Pepper asks for help. Creators put a skateboard park on the island just for the heck of it. LEGO Island 2 provides both great game play and ample opportunity to freestyle. Also, the fluid detail of this program belies the chunky origins of LEGO life as we know it.

That detail comes with a price: it takes some time to load the subgames and scene changes even if your system meets the game's requirements. If LEGO Island 2 were one of Pepper's pizzas, it'd be an ultra mega deluxe, piled high with mummies, pterodactyls, and renegade robots. It'd also take a longer time to bake than your plain cheese, but the wait would be worth it. (Ages 6 to 99) --Anne Erickson ... Read more

OK Game, but...
This game has much better graphics and you have more freedom of movement than the original, but as for the gameplay, it is not something you want to play over and over again. While in the game, you have an objective at any given time, and whenever you talk to someone, they tell you your objective and point towards it. In other words, you really have to complete the objective unless you just want to go swimming or something. The freedoms and graphics may have not been that great in the original LEGO Island, but the gameplay is much better, and you can choose what missions you want to do when you feel like doing them. If you can, rent it or something and beat it in the 2 days it took me and then give it back, since I dont think it was worth the $... i paid for it.

Sweet game!!!!
This game is one of the best lego games yet! It's so fun even if you're not in a mission. The graphics rock although the loading is a bit slow but it's worth it! But when I bought my game, one level was messed up and I needed to buy another one. I would've gave it a 5 but it didn't work. Overall, it's still fun!

1-0 out of 5 stars To robelaine From South East Michigan
I purchased Lego Island 2 for my daughter for Christmas, my computer didn't support the game either, so I attempted to return the game to Toys R Us and of course that was pointless, however I did call Lego Media myself and they told me to send them the game back to them with a note stating that the game was not compatible with my computer and the receipt, and they would send me a refund. The consumer affairs information is on their website, check it out!! You don't have to be stuck with a product you can't use.

1-0 out of 5 stars Lego Island 2
This product has really cool graphics, however it takes way too long to load!!! For each individual area of the game you want to enter, you have to wait for the game to load. Infact, you even have to wait for it to load if you want to "Quit" the game too. It could be a really cool, but for my 6 year old daughter, it was just frustrating. I sent the game back to company for a refund and purchased the game for the Playstation instead.
I personally don't recommend this product.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very good
My 11 year old received this game a couple of years ago. He still plays with it every now and then, but prefers to play it on Gameboy. But now his five year old brother is thrilled with the playing the computergame. He alternates between this one and Digs n Rigs. We are definitely getting our money's worth out of this one.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good - But NOT a software for Dig-N-Rig unit
We bought this software hoping, but not clear, that this would be additional software for the Tonka Dig-N-Rigs game. If you are not familiar with Dig-N-Rigs, its a GREAT game that comes with a dashboard unit that mounts on your computer keyboard. You load the software and then all of the controls are on this dashboard, like the steering wheel, crane levers, key, and horn. It is a 5-star game and my 4 year old son said, after playing for a few moments that he would be playing the rest of the day and the rest of his life. We'll, just realize that Construction 2 is not a supplement to that game and you just use your mouse. Its still a good game but not near as gratifying as Dig-N-Rigs, and I hope they eventually come out with supplemental software to that game.

5-0 out of 5 stars other review isn't accurate
I haven't played this game in awhile but that other review isn't right. There isn't a news van, docks or warehouse. The game encompasses a bunch of activities. The meat of the game is the city activity where kids can tear down old buildings, dig holes, pour foundation and build a new building. Its really cool because you can customize how everything looks and there are a lot of add-ons (windows, doors, roofs, trees, bushes) that you can add to your building. I think most kids will have a lot of fun with this activity, the other activities are mostly fillers.

5-0 out of 5 stars Tonka Construction 2
This sequel to Tonka Construction takes kids back to Tonka Town to tackle all-new construction projects using 14 Tonka vehicles in six different landscapes - Quarry, Desert, Mountains, City, Warehouse and the Docks. Kids also have infinite building and customization options, enabling the little engineers to design, build and personalize their very own Tonka Town. Kids visit Tonka Joe in the Construction Trailer to punch their time cards and to get an overview of the jobs that require assistance, and if they find the News Van each time they play, Jenna Pressly will send kids on a surprise mission. With beefed up vehicle functions and movement, infinite building and construction as well as plenty more fun activities and print functions, Tonka Construction II is sure to be a hit with little engineers. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game For Girls Ages 5 to 8
My five year old daughter bought this game with some of her birthday money about 2 months ago. It's a great game, interesting, fun, and easy enough for the younger kids to navigate and play without parental help. It's a combination of simple games and decorating fun, and in each game you can choose different clothes for Kelly and friends, it's perfect for the younger girls. It is also fun and interesting enough for her two older sisters to play (they are 7 and 10), although the 10 year old does get bored with it faster than the younger ones do.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fun!
My nine year old daughter recommends that you should get Kelly Club because it is really fun! It has really good activities to play. You can catch stars and decorate a unicorn and a snowman. You get to decorate a seashell and make your own scrapbook. There is a tea party game and a jungle safari. You get to dress up all the characters in all the activities. There is so much to play with in this game! It is very fun.

5-0 out of 5 stars My 3 year old's favorite
This is a great game for a preschool age girl. It has many different areas to explore with great graphics. Very user friendly to little hands. I only had to help my daughter the first time and now I'm not allowed to play anymore. You can print out the different scenes from the scrapbook after decorating. Keeps her interest and she can change it every time.

5-0 out of 5 stars My baby (she's 4) loves Kelly
We have not used it as of yet, Kelly will be one of my daughter's Christmas presents. She loves Kelly though, has a lot of Kelly items and I am sure this will be a special treat under the tree for her as she is not even aware that Kelly has a software product. She's going to go for this out of all the other toys and software that "Santa" brings her. I know that for a fact. O.k. how do I know it. If you guys promise not to tell anyone, I'll tell you. I should change the "we have not used it as of yet" to my daughter has not used it as of yet. You know I just had to make sure it worked, so I put it in. It's really a lot of fun. I love it and I'm not 4, so I know she'll adore it. I have to fess up to it, I played it. Parents need to check out the items when they come to make sure they are working properly. Just an excuse. I have no excuse. I love Kelly as much as my daughter. Now I must wait until Christmas to borrow my daughter's Kelly software, and I'm sure she will not let me get my hands on it. It's really a lot of fun, if I think so, she'll love it. She loves Kelly, so how could you not love a product like this? ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego?
This is a good game that will teach children about world geography but younger children may get frustrated with this game. It is really geared toward pre-teens and you have to listen closely to the clues in order to determine where is the world is Carmen. This game will work with Windows XP Home Edition but you have to run it in compatibility mode.

4-0 out of 5 stars Warning: It¿s not an easy game.
This game is a little frustrating for any child who cannot yet associate a continent with the following clues: kroner, Ho Chi Minh trail, outback, Sahara. I had to help out more than either of us would have liked. On the other hand, it's fun, so she is motivated to try. And she is learning a lot!

5-0 out of 5 stars Carmen has made my child a geography whiz!
I have a 10 year old daughter who I have seen spend, literally, multiple hours on our PC engaged in what I call "virtual globe- trotting" in an effort to find Carmen and her partners in crime.

Players use the Digiketch to piece together a composite image of the suspect as they unlock clues describing his/her appearance.(Once you get a complete image, you can issue an arrest warrant!)

There is a World Wiz Database that helps players learn more about the countries that the suspect may have visited. This game introduces foreign phrases, international travel, and problem solving skills in a way that no other medium could.

I highly recommend this game as a means by which a child's horizons can be greatly broadened.

5-0 out of 5 stars A first-class program.
I love this game. While chasing Carmen and her gang around the world, you come across funny characters, puzzling clues, interesting locations, and you learn a lot about geography and history at the same time! They did a magnificent job on this game - I wish I could find that missing last disk so I could install it again on my new computer!

5-0 out of 5 stars Educational And Fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great program!
This game (should I call it a game?) is fabulous! Based on a great PBS show, it continues to teach about the Revolutionary War. By interviewing key people (like George Washington & Sam Adams) the children can create a newspaper, similar to the tv show. Sarah & James help guide you around the sites of major battles & famous towns. For fun, you often have to find certain items to give to the characters before they will allow you to interview them.

The learning mode is great & took my 9 year old daughter about 10 minutes to figure it out and go to town. She has completed the entire game about 5 times in a month and still has not grown bored - the scenerios change every time you play!

I recommend this to anyone who has ever watched the show, but also for a way to teach more about the Revolutionary War. A good reader is needed, and one that can make good judgements to choose which interview comments to publish. This would make a great addition to a classroom library of software!

Definitely a great buy!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars I loved it!
I watch the show and I loved the CD-Rom! It never gets boring for me, because one time I got the same item for a guy that I got in the last game and he didn't need it, he needed something else! It is also really good because you can get how both British and Patriots felt about what was going on. It was so much fun!

5-0 out of 5 stars Really cool game!
I never get bored of playing, because it changes every time. I love to hear interesting commentary and arguements between James and Sarah as you journey from scene to scene. It gives a very balanced view of the Revolution, because one's British and the other is American. I've watched the show, and they both have held my interest. It's good for anyone!

5-0 out of 5 stars Learning and Loving the American Revolution
This game is fabulous! My children love Schoolhouse Rock and this game gave some depth to the songs about the Revolution that they had already learned. We have all played and what's great is that each game and assignment is different. Seeing the Revolution through the eyes of teenage reporters allows my children to appreciate American History without being "taught" or "preached to" by me or by their teachers. They love when I quiz them about the Battle of Saratoga, Valley Forge and Lexington and Concord. Even my 5yr old knows who John Adams is!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game for kids!
We bought this game for our kids for the summer, to help keep them busy. My kids LOVE the PBS show and we decided this could be a great way of entertainment and learning. My 10 year old daughter picked up on the game right away and has really enjoyed playing it. My 8 year old son has taken some time to learn the game and enjoys it, but he would like more excitement. I really like that the kids can learn more about the Revolutionary period and be a part of putting it together in a newspaper. If your kids love the show, they will enjoy the game too. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A great CD game for kids to cut their teeth on
Who doesn't love Pooh bear? Every kid I know does, and this Pooh software is a great game for kids to get themselves ready for preschool and kindergarten. Pooh visits Piglet, Kanga and Roo, Tiger, Owl, and Rabbit at their homes, as well as takes a nap at his. Each place has an assignment for your child (e.g. at Piglet's, you have to look at a picture Piglet painted and color it exactly the same way; at Kanga's, you help her and Roo make alphabet soup by adding the specific letters they ask for, etc.). Each assignment has 3 levels of difficulty, so as your child progresses, you can make the game a bit more chllanging for them. My kids are 3 and 2, and using this game has already helped them manuever the computer mouse and use their powers of discernment to make correct decisions. Each child can enter his/her name and has a chart to monitor their progress (which is fun to print out and put on the fridge). Brilliant!

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best in the Preschool software category
If there were Emmys handed out for educational software, this one would be a strong contender. This software game really helped my 3-year old son learn his colors, numbers, sound recognition, matching, and letters. The best part is that the game is easy to understand and very fun. He plays this game often. Pooh visits each of his friends' house to notify them of Eeyore's birthday. In the process, the child "helps" the characters provide a gift for Eeyore. Once the chore is accomplished, the gift is waiting for Eeyore. When the child has collected all the gifts, let the birthday party begin! The software has three difficulty levels. The software requires use of a mouse.

5-0 out of 5 stars Pooh is the man.
I received this from my parents for my son thinking that I would just sell it on-line and then I realized it actually worked with our system and it's been installed since. My son started playing this when he was 3 and he loves going through all of the different houses and doing the multiple tasks and going on to the advanced stages. It keeps track of your childs progress and it also gives you printable pages for a workbook. I just printed out a set to take on our trip so he'll have something to do on the plane ride. My daughter who is 2 also would enjoy it if her big brother would ever give her a chance to sit and play with the computer. I highly recommend this because it's very easy for them to catch on to what they have to do to complete the levels. Boring? It can be, but kids thrive on repetition, so I just leave the room if I get too bored watching it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not so crazy about this one!
I purchased this game for the PS2 for my son who is 4 and I find it rather boring. The only thing he even likes to do is the coloring and even then there are only like 2 or 3 pictures to choose from. It seems to go slow and take forever to do anything. You have to listen to all the characters talk and you cant just get right to the game. After reading some other reviews though it seems to have worked for many, but neither myself or my son were too impressed with this one!

5-0 out of 5 stars My 3-year-old's favorite
My 3-year-old son loves the Winnie-the-Pooh games; this was his first in the series and is by FAR his favorite. It's very entertaining and educational, teaching a variety of skills such as number and letter recognition, reasoning (i.e. cause-and-effect), matching, etc. After we helped him out with the basics, he figured out how to navigate through the centers with ease, and really learned to use the mouse. Any of the Pooh titles would be a good buy, but this stands out if you're looking for a great all-around buy for your toddler/pre-schooler. ... Read more
