5-0 out of 5 stars GREATT!
This Is So Great! You Can Choose An Event Like Award Shows & More! Choose The Music I Love Music! & Watch A Video! And A Treated Before & After Shot!

5-0 out of 5 stars Barbie Boutique is a great computer game
I highly recommend this computer game for girls who are interested in Barbie's and the dress up thing. My daughter (age 6) absolutely loves it - it doesn't get old to her. It is very easy for her to use and there are so many different variations she can do - it never gets boring. Highly recommended.

5-0 out of 5 stars Barbie Beauty Boutique ~ Wonderful game!!
I have a four year old that wanted this computer game really bad. I was worried that it might be a little difficult for her because a lot of the other Barbie games are still a too old for her to understand. This game was perfect. It is easy to use but fun for everyone. She loves changing Barbie's make-up and clothes. She has played on it for hours now. I think it was worth the money!

5-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful!
This is a terrific activity for girls 4 and up. It allows the girls to be creative as they design "new looks" for Barbie and her friends. From choosing hairstyles, to coloring it (even highlights) to makeup application, nails, clothes. The girls do it all and are very proud of their efforts. And the best part for parents is that they're doing it on the computer instead of making a mess with makeup etc. in the bathroom.

The girls will sit and play this alone or together for hours.

A must-have for girls who love dress up, make up and the likes.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not That Much Fun
First off, I don't know what game the other reviews on this page are talking about, with the ice skating, Prince Stephan, castle, and maze references. The Barbie Beauty Boutique we bought had nothing like that.

My four daughters (ages 4, 6, 8, and almost 11) have been seeing this game advertised on TV, and all four of them wanted it so bad. I caved in and purchased the game for $30.00 at a store in town, even though we usually never spend that much on a PC game. We took it home, installed it, and all four girls played it, but really didn't like it much. It's just not that much fun. On the TV adds and on the box it sounds like there are a lot more outfits, jewelry, and hairstyles to choose from than there are in reality. The hairstyles especially disappointed us. You can either choose to style the hair in an "updo" or leave it down. We expected to be able to have choices like braids or pony tails, but there is nothing like that, the only hairstyle choices are "updo" styles. Most of the hairstyles looked fake and weird to me, my girls said they looked stupid. If you choose to leave the hair down you do get to decide how long the hair is, and whether to leave it strait or make it curly, but the curly hair looked as weird as the hairstyles. The accessory choices for the hair were mostly dorky looking, especially the butterflies and flowers. There were also not a lot of hair accessories to choose from, they just had a few things to choose from. I think the hair styling part is what my girls looked forward to the most so they were disappointed. I also have a problem with a lot of the clothing choices, a whole lot of midriff shirts and short skirts. The make up and nails part was alright, but nothing great.

The plus of the game is that it is easy for the kids to play so younger girls will be able to play with little to no help. (My 4 year old was fine with it, no problems at all.) However, the clothing choices and event choices are more geared to kids maybe 8 and up. My 4 and 6 year old girls didn't like as many of the clothing styles as the 8 and 10 year old did. If you are looking for a game that an older girl would like that is easy to play, this fits that bill. It would be a good game for girls who are older but haven't yet had much computer experience yet. (They learn quick though!)

All in all the game is not bad, but I do regret paying what we did for it. If I had it to do over again I would probably wait until the game was older and therefore not so expensive. If your kids want it, maybe you should see if they like the idea of the What's Her Face PC game instead. We have had that game for about a year, and it still gets played with. It's along the same lines as the Barbie Beauty Boutique, you get to choose hairstyles and clothing for your doll. There is a little more to it than the BBB, though, so I think it is more fun for the kids to play. With the What's Her Face game you get to choose your dolls face, which is fun, and then you get to choose dance moves and music for the ending scene. However, with some girls it's got to be Barbie, so that may make the BBB better in their eyes. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars mixed review
I got this game as a birthday present and I am 7 years old. I like grooming and feeding the horse. It is fun when you're trying to find Lucky, but when you have found Lucky I promise you that you will think that it is pretty annoying. This is because you keep the song in your head. I recommend that you don't buy this game because there aren't enough challenges. Once you figure out how to find Lucky there is still only one thing that will be hard for you-- using the slingshot.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very entertaining game -- even if you don't like horses
I was a little hesitant buying this game since my 6 year old daughter used to be scared of horses, but she surprised me by asking for it. Anyway, she started playing it immediately when we got home and I had to drag her away from the computer a few hours later for dinner. We've had it a couple weeks now and even though she's made it to the end, she continues to go back and play more. She loves all the dress up and even the changing the look of the horse (she's really into horses now). And she loves riding around in the beautiful lands (I must say that the people who made this game did a pretty nice job making the areas in the game beautiful). But her favorite part of the game is talking to the people in differnet areas and figuring out all the puzzles. A great game!

1-0 out of 5 stars DO NOT BUY THIS GAME
This game was very lacking. I was expecting much more out of it. After playing the SAME game and running on the SAME trails over and over again it gets a little boring. My 5 year old cousin liked it but she really had a hard time playing it. Yet my 8 year old cousin thought it was cool until about an hour after playing it. The person who desighed this game must of had a limeted amount of money or somthing because I was expecting ALOT more. It teaches MANY fales facts about horses. It alowes kids to change Barbie's cloths to a western out fit while having her ride in an english saddle and western bit? It should REALLY teach stuff about horses instead of teaching them about finding Lucky. I mean Barbie does not even get on the right side of the horse? She does NOT go into her 2 point and just can't ride. I would NOT get this game for any age group. I was VERY disapointed with it.

1-0 out of 5 stars really incredibly a terrible game
i bought this game and i just have to say that i condemn the day i bought it. do not buy this idiotic game becuase it is really bad'

4-0 out of 5 stars Too bad all the other reviews are for other Barbie Games!
All these reviews of this game (below) really upset me because they refer to an "alternate version", which turns out to be a totally different Barbie game than the item shown here.
Click on the hyperlinks to see for yourself. I haven't found a single one out of 28 reviews that describe this particular item.
I've found the same problem with Disney princess games as well.

Anyway, this game plays somewhat similar to the older Barbie Riding Club, riding the horse and solving puzzles, and is suitable for the younger children 4-7 because it is pretty easy. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining for the young viever
Our granddaughter asked to watch this nearly everyday. It is a pleasant way for a young child to learn a classic story.

4-0 out of 5 stars She likes it!
Purchased this for my 5-year old. First try, it was a little difficult, after that she could do it by herself. Has been playing and continues to enjoy the different wands and the different colors and designs that the wands make on each scene. Make sure you try different wands at each scene to decorate. We didn't realize that on the first go around. I recommend for 5-10 year olds! Definitely.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game
I have a five year old that loves this game. She can play with it for hours. She really enjoys it. Many diffent games, that she can do, even though she can't read yet. A must buy for all 4-6 year old girls!!

4-0 out of 5 stars My Scene computer game
This game is fun but after you play all twelve games then when you play again you do the same thing and buy the same stuff. Also, Chealsea and Barbie walk slower than the other people, but Madison is as fast as them. And when you see one of the other My Scene girls they just ask if Nolee called you or you ask them if they want to go somewhere and they say they can't, then they walk away and if your not Madison you can't follow them, they just walk off the part of the screen you can see and you can't catch up with them.
In the game, you have to buy the things you need for something your doing. To get money, you can decorate a store window, design clothes, or make music. I like the clothes and window games, but the music one is boring. And you can only play the games twice. You can also pick boyfriends for the My Scene girls. The boys are walking around. You can also talk to girls. To find out what clothes you should get, you need to read a magazine. You can also take quizzes and try on clothes after you've bought the clothes you need.

3-0 out of 5 stars Slightly Disapointed
I look for a game since usually my volume wont work that will work and be simple if you have no volume like the sims. I cant end the game when I cant hear wher i haft to meet barbie or any of the crew. This game often freezes 2 and it's not just my computer Vivendi universety can do better.

1-0 out of 5 stars The Reviews Here do not go to MY SCENE
I purchased My Scene because of the reviews listed under it. I purchased for a 5 year old. The reviews listed right now with this product are for other Barbie computer games. This game, My Scene, is probably lots of fun for any girl who can read pretty well and follow instructions. Very difficult for a 5 year old. My 11-year old niece enjoys it, but be careful reading the reviews (unless Amazon fixes the problem, as I did contact them.).

5-0 out of 5 stars My Scene is super fun!
My 6 year old LOOOOVVEES playing this game. It's age appropriate for kids of all ages! I love playing it with her, so does her brother! I kind of wish the game was a little longer or if you played it more than once you had different options, like more variety, but it serves it's purpose. It was worth the buy and amazon had it at a great price!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Very Impressive Game
I am 17 yrs. old and had put this game on my Christmas wishlist. I recieved the game on Christmas morning and have played it every day since. This game has some of the best graphics I have seen and is great for any young or old girl who is into fashion, music, and friends. You basically get to become one of the MyScene characters and help them get ready for many different events through fashion activities and money making jobs. I have been extremely satisfied with this game and recommend it to anyone between the ages of 8 and 100. ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Don your tiara and pick up your wand, for only true, good princesses can enter the enchanted world of Barbie as Rapunzel.

Rapunzel and Prince Stefan have organised a masked ball, but they didn't invite the local wicked witch, Gothel. When Gothel finds out, she is furious and promptly casts an evil spell over the castle and its inhabitants. The prince is turned to stone, the jewels from his crown are scattered around, and the enchanted castle is immersed in darkness. When Rapunzel and her trusty purple--and very cute--dragon friend enter the doomed castle, they are challenged by the witch to find the jewels in order to rescue the prince and restore the castle to its former glory.

One of the most magical, creative packages on the market, this interactive adventure really is superlative. The graphics are fantastic and pixels do not stick between screens. The movement is fluid and controlled and the sound is excellent.

This package also develops basic PC skills, creativity, and imagination, and encourages colour recognition, shape matching, hand-to-eye coordination, and cause-and-effect recognition skills. The accompanying music completes the magical experience.

Barbie as Rapunzel is accompanied by a clear, comprehensive instruction booklet that should probably be read by a parent before commencing. That said, instructions are given throughout the quest in a clear, slow voice and objects flash onscreen to reinforce the message. The help section can also be accessed at any time. The manufacturer recommends this package for children ages 5 and older, and though help may be required to begin with, a computer-literate 5- or 6-year-old will soon get the hang of things and be able to play alone. All in all, a superb package that kids, Barbie fans or not, will just love. --Susan Naylor, Amazon.co.uk ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars very entertaining and worth the money
I bought this software for my 5-year old daughter for Christmas. She and her twin sister, along with their 4-year old sister, LOVE this game!!! They love everything about it, from the theme song at the beginning, to finding Prince Stefan in the maze at the end. I will admit, it's not super educational, but it does keep them entertained and it's nice to have a "fun" game once in awhile that doesn't require them to think too hard! It's also nice because they can leave the game midway, and return back to where they left off by clicking on their name. The names can also be deleted so that they can start a fresh game. They can restore the castle over and over again and have it be different every time. I think it was totally worth the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars A fun game for younger Barbie fans
My three year old adores this game. The game only takes 2-3 hours to complete in one sitting, but my child has played it over and over, and still loves it. The box recommends this game for ages 5 and older, but my daughter can play this game by herself with ease, except for the maze (which is fairly easy, but she needs help working the arrow keys). This game is mostly a "paint" type game, where you decorate different rooms in a castle in order to save Prince Stephan and the castle. You paint and place different decorations about the castle, as well as "build" a planter and a mosaic tile. The game and the decorations are quite cute, and easy for young Barbie fans to do independently. I feel it does have some educational value as well, in that my daughter seems to have improved her mouse skills from playing this game, has grasped concepts like clicking a "done" button when she has completed a task, and seems to have become better at listening to directions. My one and only complaint is that I wish there had been just a couple more rooms in the castle to decorate. Still, for a fairly short game, it has lots of replay value in it, and the length is just right for a young attention span. I would recommend this game to people with young children who are Barbie fans, especially if their kids aren't quite ready for the more advanced thinking that games geared for older kids have. Don't get me wrong, I think older Barbie fans will like this game, too, if they want to play a game that mostly centered on decorating. I've had problems finding games that my daughter can play independently at her age, plus she's a huge Barbie fan, so this game was perfect for us.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome computer game for a 5 year old
Just bought this for my daughter she loved it so much she played the game twice in a row.
She loved decorating the castle and saving the Prince.
Don't hesitate to buy this Barbie game she'll love it too

5-0 out of 5 stars Rich and great for ADD girls
I bought this very rich program for my bright 4 year-old who has significant problems with patience and focus/attention. She likes the video very much. This video has been very helpful in rewarding her for working patiently and methodically. At the same time it is great for teaching shapes, use of color, and fine motor control.

4-0 out of 5 stars Definitely enjoyed!
This was a gift for my 6 yr old daughter. She is a big Barbie fan as well as loves to use the computer. She is still enjoying this game. She completed it in a few hours which worried me at first, but she loves to do it over and over again. The music is enjoyable and the colors are vibrant. It seems to be very user friendly also....my daughter has not really needed my help to use it once she started it the first time. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game!!
I recently purchased this for my 3 year old daughter. She LOVES this game! The games are great. They get more challenging as you improve. Also dressing up Kelly and her friends is great fun. My daughter especially loves grooming the animals and getting them ready for the parade. You can decorate the floats, and you have many decorations to choose from. Although not that educational, it does help them improve on their hand/eye coordination. Very fun for a little girl! Definately a must have!

5-0 out of 5 stars I was voted "favorite aunt" by my 3-year-old niece!
Apparently this is about the best $... I have spent lately (aside from the Gameboy game I sent my nephew). My niece is mesmorized by this game, and it is keeping my sister busy building parades. My niece is a little too young to run this program by herself, but she has definitely figured out what button needs to be pushed to make the parade start! My sister also told me that she likes the fact that you can save multiple parades for those days when she just doesn't have time to help create a new one. This seems to be a winner!

5-0 out of 5 stars Cute computer game!
I recently got this game for my 2 girls, ages 5 and 3, and it is one of their absolute favorites! They love the "Strike up the band" song at the beginning and have it memorized. They love choosing outfits, grooming the animals, and decorating the floats. They ask to play this game all the time! I highly recommend this game for any girl!

This game is very cute and has a variety of mazes, searching-type activities, and the crucial jewelry-decorating section that is necessary in any Barbie game that somehow overlooks fashion and makeup, but my 7-year-old completed the entire game inside 20 minutes, including installation time. Create a winter wonderland for Barbie lovers with Barbie Sparkling Ice Show, a creative extravaganza that enhances basic PC skills while entertaining young girls for hours.

Join Barbie and friends Christine and Teresa and visit five exciting venues: International City Park, Misty Mountain, Island Paradise, Rose Garden, and the fifth, mystery location, which is accessed only when the other four levels have been completed.

Put on impressive performances (each venue offers more challenge than the previous one): learn how to jump, do tricks, and speed skate. A level is completed when you have mastered a practice session and then put on a show. After the first level has been completed, the exhibition area will open, and once the other locations have all been visited, extra features--including decorations, music, costumes, and more--begin to appear for use in the exhibition show.

Installation is guided, and is quick and easy. Accompanying the CD-ROM is a multilingual user's manual in black and white that is comprehensive and very easy to follow. The program is designed for children ages 5 and older, but help will be needed to complete all tasks at the early end of the age range. --Susan Naylor, Amazon.co.uk ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Not just for little kids!
"Barbie Sparkling Ice Show" is a fabolous game and can really inspire creativity and imagination, and that's coming from someone whose 13 years old! This game allows you to pick routines, music, costumes, and fun stuff like decorations and ice color and put it all together to make fabolous routines for Barbie, Christie, and Teresa on the five stops of the Sparkling Ice Tour. But once you finish the tour, the fun doesn't end there- you can continue on skaiting cool exhibition shows using all of the details of previous shows.

To work the game, you start off by preparing for the first stop of the tour and practice a routine that you pick out of a few selections with the skater you have chosen. You can pick from three levels: easy, intermediate, or hard, and each one provides more challenges than the next. If you skate the routine well and do a good job, you will be able to do all the "good stuff"- choosing your music, costume, decorations, etc. for the tour. The game continues on like this for different tour stops such as Rose Garden and Island Paradise, with your goal to make it to the secret surprise location where you can even create your own routine.

I found this game to be a lot of fun and not at all boring. Granted, it may be a little bit too easy to get through all the tour stops, but the fun doesn't stop since you can create a user name and start all over again or continue doing skating exhibitions. It is a fabolous game for all figure-skating and Barbie fans, not to mention that it is so much fun! Anyone ages 5 and up will enjoy this wonderful game.

2-0 out of 5 stars Pretty Disappointing
In the words of my 6 year old niece: "This is Really Boring (sigh)".

Does being able to choose the color of the ice and Barbie's outfit compensate for what is a fairly limited program with mediocre (at best) graphics? In the eyes of that young Barbie devotee, obviously not.

To make matters worse, the game's producers apparently decided to create a "multilingual" product by relying on icons without any text for most operations. This approach often makes it quite hard to determine what each does without the manual.

Can't you just discover the actions of different buttons you wonder? Well, the game designers often chose to not provide any feedback that something was happening that may take a while. No hourglass, no clock, no spinning skater cursor. So for those operations that take more than a few seconds (e.g. loading a new scene) the player ends up thinking their click did nothing and they try clicking something else with unpredictable results. Frustrating.

A final word about the graphics. Sure you can dress her and her friends in five different outfits, but shouldn't we expect something a little more than 640x480 resolution these days?

It didn't crash, but you should save your money. If you could skate Barbie into a wall it MIGHT have been worth it. After 45 minutes with this program, that is what BOTH of us wanted to do.

2-0 out of 5 stars Bad skating technique
I didn't buy this game, becuase I can tell by the pictures that Barbie has very bad skating technique (see below). This game is not for kids who want to have fun while seeing a good skating program.

Pictures on Amazon
1) Box picture -- I can't tell whether or not Barbie is stroking or doing a bad spiral? Either her leg is too high if she is stroking, or her body and leg are not in the right position if she is doing a spiral.
2) Layback -- Although it's hard to see, it looks like Barbie might be spinning on her toe pick.
3) Split jump -- Barbie does not have enough skating muscle for the jump. She is also not kicking her boots up.
Pictures on vugames (makers of the game)
1) Stroking -- Barbie's body is crooked. She doesn't have her weight over her stroking leg, and her body is leaning to the side. I've never seen anyone stroke like this.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Game
My daughter, almost 7, loves this game. She got it a few weeks ago and still plays with it every day. We did have to upgrade our system, but the game hasn't crashed since and hasn't been slow. Despite what others have said this game has lots of levels and takes lots of practice to master the freestyle levels. (The skaters will do lots of different tricks once the user learns how to do them.) This game has even seemed to help my daughter's actual skating - she just went yesterday for the first time since receiving the game and had lots more confidence and moved more smoothly than she did the other times she went.

1-0 out of 5 stars A complete waste
My daughter received this cd for Christmas. It is very slow loading lots of wait time for things to happen. When she finally chose the skater and where she should skate (only one choice worked), my daughter kept asking what she could do now. Most of the time we were watching Barbie skate beautifully. Not very interactive. I consider this a waste of space on my computer, a waste of time for us to use. I would recommend saving your money and get something worthwhile. ... Read more

Forget the cat litter, all-hours dog walks, and outrageous vet bills; Barbie Pet Rescue features some of the most realistic, adorable animalswe've ever seen in a computer program--and without all the work involved inowning a real-live pet. Visit Barbie and her kid sister Stacey at the Pet RescueCenter, where you'll wait for rescue missions, explore in the playrooms, or tendto pets in the Care Center.

Rescue missions come in over the phone or via e-mail; after learning which petis missing where, travel with Barbie on her scooter to one of three differentenvironments in which to search for one of eight lost pets. In many missions, you'll have to use your wits to figure out how to entice scared animals to cometo you, or how to retrieve pets trapped in trees or other sticky situations. Ifyou get stuck yourself, Barbie's full of helpful hints to send you on the rightdirection. With each successful mission, you'll receive a printable Paw & PurrAward that hangs on the PRC wall.

Rescued pets come back to the Pet Rescue Center with you and Barbie to wait fortheir owners and receive a little TLC. Nurse them back to health in the Care Center, where you'll give recovered pets water, treats, vitamins--evenbaths and brushings; sometimes you may also need to bandage a hurt leg or pickburrs from ruffled fur. After creating a file for them in the computer andgiving them a name you select from a list of suggestions, the animals go to oneof two playrooms to wait for their owners.

In the meantime, you can play with them, plus all the other pets already in theplayroom--a kitten, bunny, hamster, puppy, and even a turtle--in what is perhapsthe best of the game's activities: petting! Select which animal you'd like topet, then use the cursor to stroke an animal's head or back, or perhaps scratchher under the chin. The animals respond to your attention as they might in reallife, by licking, rolling over, purring, or barking. It's the next-best thing toa romp in the park with a real-live kitten or beagle.

There is a related game for each kind of animal--Kitten Keepaway, Puppy Treat Toss, Hamster Trail, etc.--and if you do well enough, you'll see theanimal do something especially cute. A few of the games test kids' logic andspatial aptitude, but mostly they challenge players' mouse mastery and hand-eyecoordination; a speedy "click" finger yields frequent success.

Our only complaint: once players have completed all eight rescue missions andthe activities in the playrooms, there's not a lot more to do. It's always funto pet the animals, but it's not likely to hold kids' attention for frequentreplay. That said, this graphically rich program is a real treat for any animallover. We plan on keeping this game around for those moments when wereally wish we had a dog around. (Ages 5 and up) --Leah Ball ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars ATTENTION ALL KIDS 3-9 YEARS OLD
This is the perfect way for children to help other things like abanded pets, and to adopt pets. It is a very cute game. I really love it. I think it is a great game for girls or some boys that are pretty young. It's great for kid's who love animals or have pet birds, cats, dogs, turtles, and bunnies. It encourages them to start to help out more with their pet (if they have one) I'm not making the choice, you are, I can only recommend you to get it, anyways all I'm saying is it's a wonderful game! To wrap it up(my opinion): my advice is: JUST GET IT ALREADY!

3-0 out of 5 stars A Nice Game
This game was quiet enjoyable and the graphics were very good. You rescue different animals -- dogs, bunnies, cats ect. -- during the game. After rescuing the animals, you take them back to the 'PRC' (Pet Rescue Center) to give them a check-up and name them.
One of the things that's kind of annoying is that the animals Barbie rescues are always girls. I'm a girl, so it really shouldn't matter, but that makes the game pretty un-realistic.
Also, you'll find the animals in odd places that they couldn't get to or trapped in in real life. The adventures you go on to rescue the animal are always the same. And, Barbie will rescue turtles, which she really shouldn't be able to tell whether they are pets or wild.
Anyway, it was a nice game all around. I recomend it for eight and under. If your son or daughter likes animals, this would be the game for them!

4-0 out of 5 stars What A good Game
This game is great and I love all the games except the kitten keep away. But otherwise the game is the coolest and I am hoping to by one know and it would be so cool if you could send me one for free. Much love Britney.

3-0 out of 5 stars Okay for a rainy day
My mom got me this game for christmas and I loved it. Now that was two yrs ago. Now I only play it when i'm really bored which is like never. One you get all your paw and purr awards it is just the same rescues over and over again. And also the thing that annoys me the most is that you can never keep any parrots once you rescue them. Also how do you know if the turtles were not wild to begin with? On the positive side the puppie kittens and rabbits were so life like. Overall a good game but play only if you are really bored and you need to pass the time.

5-0 out of 5 stars from a person that loves animals
I love this game! In it you get emails or telephone calls saying that different people need your help because they saw or lost an animal, and they need you to go help them. You don't have to go on these missions if you don't want to though. The thing that I don't like about it though is that there are only about fifteen missions to go on. Once you rescue an animal, you take them into the vet area to take care of them. You give them a bath, feed them, and do other things with them. There are some great games that you can play, like a turtle obstacle course/race, a game where you try to get the treat into the puppy's mouth, and a hamster maze. Sometimes the hamster gets out and you have to try and find him. Once again, I love this game! ... Read more

Amazon.com Review

Is the fiercely competitive world of female gymnastics ready for the perkiness of Team Barbie? Once we got over those impossible bodies, we grudgingly realized that Barbie Team Gymnastics would probably be a dream come true for any girl who loves both gymnastics and Barbie. However, don't rely on this game to teach any lessons about sportsmanship: either Team Barbie cheats, or the judges in this program all work for Mattel.

Play begins in the lounge, where Barbie and her lithesome yet curvy teammates, Christie and Teresa, await practice orders. Players must guide the girls through practice routines on the vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor. Moves are executed by hitting the arrow keys and space bar in a sequence that suddenly appears on the left side of the screen. If a player hits the wrong keys, or doesn't hit the right keys soon enough, their gymnast will bobble or (gasp!) fall off their apparatus, and the coach, Kira, will chirp "Don't give up!" as the program churns relentlessly onward. Maintaining composure after knocking Barbie off the beam is difficult, but just like an actual competition, the good players shake it off and keep going.

Young gymnasts will probably enjoy sweating out their mistakes, the realism of the sounds (that hollow thud as hands and feet contact the balance beam), and the 3-D images of gymnasts performing their moves as the "camera" swoops in for different angles. Another nice touch is a replay component that allows players to watch their routines once completed. It's hard to watch the routine as it's being executed, because you must instead keep your eyes on the "Power Bar" that orders the keystrokes for each move.

When players master enough walkovers and handsprings to earn a high score, they're allowed to attend local, sectional, regional, and national competitions where prizes are trophies, new moves to add to their repertoire, and of course, new team outfits. Here's where the cheating came in: at a local competition, we ran our Team Barbie members through their paces and scored 9.2s and 9.3s, while our competitors consistently scored 9.5s and 9.6s. Despite this, come trophy time, Team Barbie got the gold with a score average that was mysteriously boosted to 9.4! For this blatant disregard for the lessons of losing and accurate math, we'll give Barbie Team Gymnastics an 8.3 for style, and a 7.0 for execution. (Ages 6 and older) --Anne Erickson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars We love this game!
I like this game as much as my 5 1/2 year old daughter. She is a computer game veteran and this one is much different than the others. It took her about 1/2 hour to get the hang of it and now we have so much fun playing. I even like to play it! Hard to tell what it is like from the box description. You use the arrow keys to get barbie and two friends to do gymnastics routines. If you do not move the arrow keys as indicated fast enough you lose points. And you want a perfect 10!! Geared for age 5 and up I would think, I think 5 1/2 or older is best.

5-0 out of 5 stars Barbie Team Gymnastics
This game rocks! I'm in gymnastics, and I just love it. You start off in the lounge, where you choose the girl(s) you want to practice with, and you can choose one, two, or all three. Next you go to the roster and choose the gymnast and apparatus you want to work on. You can also look at each gymnast's notebook, which illustrates all the moves they know. You can choose the moves you want, then put together a routine. Once you have finished, you get either a red check, which means you have to practice again, or a green check, which means you have done your routine well. When you are done, you can go to compitition! After each compitition if you win you get new leotards and cooler, harder moves to put in your routines. (Hint: if you find that you have finished all the compititions and there are still blank spots in your notebook, then go to barbie.com/gymnastics, and you can download new moves to fill your notebook with!)

1-0 out of 5 stars Doesn't work on Pentium 4 chips!
My husband brought this game home for our daughter who loves gymnastics. They installed it and ran all the intro stuff, she was getting very excited by the way-cool graphics.

Then we got a message, "CPU Not Supported." A quick trip to the Vivendi Universal website confirms that our processor, the P4, is not supported by this game and that there is no patch available to fix this.

Reading the box would not have told us this. The system requirements were Windows 95/98/2000/ME and "Pentiun II processor or higher." Well, P4 is higher than P2, and that chip wasn't released yesterday. I think that's simply unacceptable.

My daughter was disappointed, the product is going back to the store, and it's getting one star for not supporting a widely distributed processor. We can't run it on our laptap either because Windows XP isn't supported. Ridiculous!

5-0 out of 5 stars All I can say is wow!
Barbie Team Gymnastics is an excellent game for anyone who is a gymnastics fan or loves Barbie. I have always loved watching gymnastics on television and wondered how they performed those big skills, so I went out and bought this game. Your mission is to help Barbie, Christie, and Teresa work their way up to the Nationals and win the team trophy!

To play, you start off by choosing the gymnast that you want to practice with, which can be Barbie, Christie, Teresa, or all three of them. You are then taken to the team roster, where you can choose the event you want to go to, or look at the gymnasts' notebooks, which show all of the skills that they have learned. When you are in the practice room, you can create your routine using the skills you know and then practice them with the gymnast to get them correct. If you score on or above the target score that Kyra, your coach, has for you, Kyra will tell you that this routine is ready and you will then do another event. There are four events, vault, beam, floor, and bars, and after you finish practicing the routines and getting them down, you can go to competition!

If the team places first in the competition (there are four total), all the gymnasts will recieve new, more difficult and spectacular skills to put in their routines and new leotards to wear in practice and competition, too! The game is so much fun and really helps time to fly by. It is fantastic for any Barbie or gymnastics fan and is quite easy to play, too.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great game for anyone who loves gymnastics
This game is awesome. It's fun to get the new moves and the new outfits. It seems a bit complicated at first but after a few minutes it's easy to understand. The girls can do full twisting double backs and double layouts and loads of other things. I highly recommend this game! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars impossible
This is the WORST GAME EVER. (...)i couldn,t even make it through the first level of this "ages 6 and up" game. There was this thing called virtual training at the beggining, and it was really fun,but once you started the real thing,it was impossible. In the real thing, there were all kinds of new obstacles, like animals.Plus, you had to remember the different key combinations for running and jumping (ect.),and you had to jump at exactly the right time.there are only two good things i can say about this, virtual training, and it works on windows XP.Don't make the mistake i did in buying this game.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fun and Challenging
My 6-yr-old daughter loves this game but definitely needs help with a lot of it, even on the easiest level. She was at first disappointed that she couldn't use the mouse but once she got the hang of the necessary keys she was off and running. Rolling, jumping, swinging, climbing, different lands and terrain, things to push and pull, things to avoid or collect... all of it is great fun! A much faster pace than the Secret Agent game, and thankfully none of those silly costume changes between "action" and "stealth" modes. This is a game we'll be able to play for years to come.

3-0 out of 5 stars To be continued...
That's how the game ends - "To be Continued..." my daughter was quite disappointed. The game is ok but it is mostly running, jumping and the difficulty comes from timing and precision jumping. It certainly frustrated her and bored me at times. Overall she definitely liked it but she prefers Secret Agent Barbie much more. Graphics are good and engaging. My daughter's favorite part is the movie-type scenes at the beginning. She was really excited at the end when it went in to movie mode "I love it when she does things by herself" but then - to be continued

1-0 out of 5 stars really, really hard
This game is rated for ages 6 and up, but even at the easiest level, it was so difficult, my 9-year-old was in tears.

4-0 out of 5 stars Barbie Software Is For all Ages

Mostly her software. Her spftware are foun and exciting and keep you fixed on them. hey never let you get board. The 2 best ones my daughter recomends are Barbie "Secret Agent. Barbie is finally a woman of action. Taking up international espionagein Secret Agent Barbie, she travels the world in pursuit of justice. Athief has stolen valuable clothing from a friend of hers, a fashion designer whois just setting up for a big show.

In order to bring the thieves to justice, Barbie has a full team of helpers anda complement of gadgetry. To get past a guard who won't let her through a door, she uses her compact to blow foundation in his face. To investigate areas tootiny for her to access, she has a robotic spy puppy. Her Pinkvision goggles canseek out the combinations to otherwise secured doors. Finally, Barbie has twogymnastic skills: dive rolls that carry her past guarded areas, and jumps to getover obstacles and laser alarms.

By virtue of its emphasis on gizmos, this game makes itself a distant relativeof pop-culture heroes like James Bond or the Mission Impossible teams. However, Secret Agent Barbie lacks the defining characteristic of thismilieu: violence. Barbie has a stealth mode for sneaking around game scenery, anadventure mode for calmer moments, and an action mode for running and jumping.(Each of these modes comes with its own costume options.) What Barbie doesn'thave is a fight mode. Whether this is a good or bad thing may be entirely amatter of parental and player opinion.

Regardless of your position on mayhem, Secret Agent Barbie has a fewdefinite weaknesses. Gameplay is really just a process of moving from oneanimated sequence to the next--and the quality of these sometimes lengthy moviesis only so-so. The game is highly inflexible, pursuing a straight path to thestolen fashions. As a result, its replay factor is almost zero. As for themystery-solving element, players don't find clues so much as stumble overthem.

That said, Secret Agent Barbie does move the widely beloved doll into adistinctly macho career path, allowing girls to tag along with their heroine ona globetrotting adventure. (Ages 6 and older) --Alyx Dellamonica ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars "Secret Agent Barbie is so really cool and also colourful!"
I loved Secret Agent Barbie. Usually I think of Barbie doll as something for younger girls because some older girls seem to think of Barbie as lame or dumb or something, but not always because I do like her. Anyway, this game was so cool! Barbie is a secret agent, and the game is so fun from the start! It starts out on a plane, where Barbie goes in training to learn all these different moves like rolling and jumping. Barbie, being Barbie, uses cool gizmos and gadgets that look a lot like makeup. For example, to sneak past guards without them catching her or not letting her by, she takes out some powder that's like foundation or blush and blows it in the person's face to where he can't see for a moment but cough. She records private conversations using a lipstick I think it is, and she wears these pink sunglasses type things that enable her to see secret codes and combinations. She travels to exotic places like Paris, France and somewhere in Japan, also New York; she always goes by plane and lands by parachute! She chooses different clothes and outfits to wear and there are different modes to play-action is one. She has a robotic puppy, too. She also has a friend who talks to her a lot by a certain spy gagdet thing, who just happens to be in a wheelchair! It's funny, all the guard dudes look and sound the same. Sometimes Barbie can get a little annoying by saying the same things over and over, and the stuff can be frustrating by being challenging. Barbie's mission includes finding some thief who's making a invisible suit which Barbie gets to put on! The theif steals special dye from some plant and clothes I think from a designer friend of Barbie's, (who I think is Theresea). Anyhow, this game is soooo really cool and a must-buy for girls this product would interest! I haven't played it in a while though.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful!
I was a thirteen year old when I recieved this. I had wanted it because I'm into girls saving the world, spies, secret agents, you know, the NANCY DREW sort of thing.

Barbie can jump from rooftop to rooftop, record secret conversations with a hidden device, find messages with a pair of sunglasses, and track a sneaky person using what looks like plain old perfume.

Barbie can blow powder in a guard's face when trying to sneak through a door she is not allowed in. You get a few seconds to put away the powder and walk past him.

She can also sneak and tumble when she is in STEALTH MODE. In ACTION MODE you can run and jump, in ADVENTURE MODE you can talk to people and walk around. In all modes you can use your gadgets and do puzzles.

You can go to Tokyo, Rio, Egypt, France, and New York in a private jet. Aboard the jet is a training room where you can practice all your 007 stunts.

This was a nice game, except it was a bit hard. You never died, or lost a life, you just got to do it again. The spotlights, lasers, and the cameras are pretty hard to dodge, so a parent should accompany their daughter while playing this game.

CIAO!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Good Game
Secret Agent Barbie is a fun game. I got it when I sprained my ankle a few years ago. It's strongest point would probably be that there is something in it for everyone.
But I also think that that can be it's weak point. I like the action mode, but you can only be in that for certain parts of the game. Barbie's pace isn't very fast in the other modes.
Also, this game can be un-realistic. Like Barbie will say, 'I think that's the suspect!', but will take the time to change her outfit before she goes after him.
This games a good one anyway. I'd reccomend it to any girl who likes Barbie. But another weak point is that you don't get to do much sleuthing on your own. It's all set out for you. If you want a real challenge, I reccomend the Nancy Drew games, which are really good.
Anyhow, this game is really nice. I'd reccomend it 9 and under. If you like either action, adventure, or fashion, you'd probably like this game!

3-0 out of 5 stars a great game for a while
My grandparents bought this game to for me, my brothers and sisters, and my cousins. At first it was great! It was challenging. I got to leap across roofs, break codes, desguise myself, and do lots of other things. There were quite a few cool gadgets like a lipstick recorder, robot spy puppy (my favorite) and a perfume tracker. You have to find out who stole barbie's friend's fashion clothes. There are dozens of different outfits that you can choose from at different times. First you can do training so you know how to do spy moves, but you don't have to. It's easy to use. After I completed the mission once though, it wasn't as great. I don't play it much any more. If I owned it though, I don't think I would play it at all! I think this should be for ages seven and up, because of the hardness of the puzzles. Hope this review is helpful!

3-0 out of 5 stars Just OK
My 6-yr-old daughter received this game as a gift and we found it to be fairly disappointing. It keeps jamming up, the graphics aren't great, and it's annoying that Barbie has to change her outfit whenever she wants to switch between "stealth" mode, for example, and "action" mode. My daughter hardly ever plays this game and prefers Barbie Explorer for its faster and more exciting pace. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Hot CD for my boys!!!
My boys who are 5 and 7 love this CD. The CD calls them by name which is really cool. The action scenes capture their attention. I bought this CD despite having no girls to share it with. Yes, there is a lot of pink, but the fun is worth it!!! My son who says he "hates girls" still loves this CD. We have had fun with it for 8 months straight. Ton o' fun for the money!!! Monika

1-0 out of 5 stars BEWARE OF WRONG MERCHANDISE!
This is NOT the Detective Barbie described. Instead of the carnival mystery, it is actually the VACATION mystery.. entirely different!!!
Even the wrong photo is displayed for sale. VERY DISAPPOINTING!

4-0 out of 5 stars not just for girls
My three older children have enjoyed the Mystry of the carnival caper, They like riding the rides and being the first to win a prize at the sideshow as several children can join in.
The game play is fairly basic once you realise that you find a clue and go to the place the clue describes and you will find the next clue or you will see the suspect and have to catch him. You sometimes find keys which you will need to rescue ken. The magifiying glass is often nessecary to find the hand print that leads you to the clue. You can talk to the other characters. Catching the suspect is not always easy but if you do loose him you get another chance by following his footprints to more clues.
The good points are riding the rides is fun, there are three suspects all which are randomly chosen as the criminal and you dont know until the end which one it is, so the end is always a surprise. No two games are the same as the order of the clues is very random. The place where ken is hidden changes each time. There is plenty of replayability.
The bad points, character control is very clumsey, you use the mouse but must place the arrow at the edge of the screen to get the barbie to walk where you want her too, my younger children found this quite frustrating as the position of the mouse does not relate well to where the character is.
You must pick a name from the list and although it is a large list with a good variety of common and uncommon names your childs name may not be there particulary if it is a boy, then you have to pick something that is close in sound or an acceptable substitute, Barbie requently refers to your child by name so if the names not there it makes it difficult.
Overall it is a fun game, just remember to follow the clues as one clue leads to the next and finally the suspect and if you get stuck use the magnifying glass and follow the footprints. The clue computer does show the hot clue, the one you havent followed and the cold clues the ones that have already led you to a clue, and remember there may also be a key or tool you need hidden in the same place as a clue so look around with the magnifying glass even after you have found the clue.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hours of Fun
Both my 7 year old and my 3 year old stay on the computer for hours at a time cutting Barbie's hair and putting make-up on her. Both of them really enjoy it. This is a must have for any Barbie lover. This is our first piece of Barbie software and we love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Hours of Fun
My 4 year old loves this game. She will sit and play changing Barbie's hair, makeup and jewlery for hours if I would let her. It is user friendly so I only had to show her how to get started once. Now she can do it all by herself. Love it.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is so much FUN for everybody, big and little!
This CD is so much fun! I played it at my friend's house and I was hooked! My friend had to PRY me off the computer! I am 11 going on 30 (in my mother's words) and it is SO much fun! I love this. Except I couldn't find it in stores, for some reason. However, the similer "Barbie Beauty Styler" isn't half as enjoyable as the Magic Hair Styler. Girls of all ages that are interested in beauty and themselves will LOVE this. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Entertaining, but not educational
Unfortunately, my daughter loves this game and will not choose other software games over this one. What really irritates me is the whole "Software for Girls" marketing statement. My daughter loves Barbie, but she is also a very intelligent 5 year old who excels at other appropriately challenging games. What kind of message is Barbie trying to send girls!??!!! To me, it is insulting. You can make it both fun and educational as other character software titles have, such as Blues Clues and the Disney series. You would be much better off choosing a different character that your child loves, such as Dora. Hopefully, the latest titles from Barbie are more challenging. ... Read more
