Amazon.com Review From the start, Robinson Crusoe is a gripping game, brilliantly narratedby Martin Jarvis. It opens with stirring dramatic music as Crusoe talks of hisdesire to travel the oceans of the world despite the strong opposition of hisfather. Unfortunately, lightning strikes his ship, and from the moment you seeCrusoe arrive alone on the beach, you have to take on his role. Stranded aloneon the Island of Despair, you must keep your spirits up and carry out varioustasks to prevent yourself from starving or becoming the victim of a savage wildanimal. Your first task is to get on board the shipwreck. Using your mouse button, youhave to collect all the pieces you need to build a raft, which will thenhopefully take you and the remaining food and water ashore. The scenes are veryatmospheric and well illustrated, and you even need to wait for a low tidebefore you head for the wreck. This game comes with clear instructions on how to navigate through theadventure. By clicking on a book icon, you can find tools or objects to makelife on the island easier. When you hold down the mouse button, you can enjoypanoramic views of the island as if you were actually standing there. And, likeCrusoe, you have to constantly beware of the cannibals. --Justin Hunt Reviews (2)
We're not quitters, so we read the same "book" in the story and wandered around the ship trying to pick up objects, but there is no place to keep an inventory and no way to "grab" the objects. This game is not like Harry Potter or even Nancy Drew, where you can go different places or follow a path. Its based on a 2D drawing that doesn't "do" anything! It is frustrating, useless and not entertaining. Save your money, even if it's only $!

Most of the playing involves the arrow keys on the keyboard, which is helping them out to be able to look at the monitor without looking at the keys they need to use. Sounds effects are excellent. This game does take some skill and kids will quickly pick up more on that after playing this game. You can also save a game in the beginning, midddle, or end. ... Read more | |

Amazon.com Review All the games have adjustable levels of difficulty (so kids can play at more advanced levels, while you putter around as a beginner, 'cause let's face it, they're better at these things than parents are!). One of the elements that kids can print is a fantastic colorable comic book featuring all of Andy's toys. Even those goofy three-eyed aliens put in an appearance! Also ready-to-print are posters, stickers, and greeting cards; a birthday party could easily be decorated with the stuff within Activity Center. Whether kids see themselves as a space ranger or identify as a cowpoke, there's plenty of fun for a rainy afternoon or two in this game pack. --Jill Lightner Reviews (8)

Amazon.com Review The five games are all basic "cruise around and get things or shoot things" activities, with that surreal SpongeBob touch. For example, you'll find yourself seeking hooks baited with chunks of cheese in "Who Cut the Cheese?" and assembling Krabby Patty sandwiches in "Invasion of the Patty Snatchers." Rounding up jellyfish is the aim of "Hide N' Go Jellyfishing," learning to navigate a little speedboat through a maze is the object of "Boating School 101," and "Save Me Money" involves firing a bubble cannon at ghost pirates to defend a pile of loot. One game must be mastered to move on to the next, and completion of each reveals a long cartoon sequence that advances one of the two plots. In the "wrong side of the bed" scenario, the evil Plankton has captured SpongeBob's pet snail Gary, and our square-panted hero must accomplish random tasks (complete the games in a certain order) to rescue his mollusk friend. In the "right side of the bed" scenario, a robotic Mr. Krabs (invented by, yes, Plankton) has stolen the secret Krabby Patty recipe, and it's up to SpongeBob to foil the plot by playing the above-mentioned games, with different characters, in a different order. Basically, this is a device to pack in more animated sequences without developing a whole new set of games. Players eventually end up building a couple of short episodes of SpongeBob SquarePants that they can view from the main menu. The games aren't challenging, but they have a certain wacky tropical charm, thanks entirely to the fact that they're set in the wet underworld this cartoon inhabits. Fans will find Patrick the starfish, Squidward, the Chum Bucket Restaurant--every invertebrate, tiki hut, and odd exclamation ("Oh, tartar sauce!!") that makes Bikini Bottom such an oddly memorable place. No age rating given; we recommend ages 8 and older. --Anne Erickson Reviews (18)
There are 2 "sides" to this game (think A side, B side). Plankton is up to his old (and predictable) tricks again, trying to steal all the ingredients for a Krabby Patty. Your first mission is to use the "Robot Krabs" to retrieve patty items, avoiding jelly fish (they reduce your time allotment)and ants (-10 points). After you'v completed three levels, you move onto the next game. Each level must be completed before moving on to the next; help Spongebob pass his driving test to receive his boating license, catch jellyfish with Sandy and SB, ride the fishing lures to collect cheese with Patrick, and help Mr. Krabs by shooting would-be thieving pirates with bubbles in "Save Me Money!". Then, the "B" side offers the same games, it just switches aroung the characters playing it. With each level you complete, you can watch a little "movie"- that is, a 3 minute cartoon about Plankton's plot. I've read other people's comments that this CD ruined their computer system, but ours was fine. The only complaint I have is that certain visuals that appeared for the first 5-6 games no longer show up now, which makes no sense. Also, if you have a joystick connected to your PC, remove it before playing OKP. When ours was plugged in, the spatula pointer kept floating to the top and was impossible to control. After we removed the joystick, it was fine. Fun game for younger kids, perhaps not challenging enough for teens.

Amazon.com Review Based on the well-known Nickelodeon characters, Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius is a first-person role-playing game appropriate for children ages 7 and older. As Jimmy attempts to put together his teleport invention, he stumbles over other, completed projects. Each find allows players to build on Jimmy's abilities. The inventions, from the flying jetpack to the remote control for Jimmy's robot dog Goddard, come with a tutorial that outlines their applications. Finding and studying old inventions is only a means to an end, though. Players must help Jimmy complete a lengthy series of objectives that will eventually lead to the completion of the science fair project. Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius is a definite winner. Its objectives are varied and easily satisfied, providing a story line that moves along briskly. Action sequences pop up at various points during play; in one, for example, Jimmy converts Goddard to a flying scooter and races a skateboard-riding classmate. Game objectives are posted in the corner of the screen to keep players on task, and the animations are big, bright, and appealing. There is no getting lost in Retroville. That said, the game does have a few quirks. Navigating Jimmy when he is on foot is tiresome, and while the scooter moves more quickly and smoothly, it is far too easy to bump into objects that cause him to dismount. (Moving to a new area of the game map also resets Jimmy to walking mode.) Additionally, though most of the game instructions are verbal, there are some textual clues and cues, making the game less accessible to those new to reading. Even so, Jimmy Neutron, Boy Genius offers terrific entertainment: a pleasing story, good visuals, and a nice mix of challenges. With plenty of humor and adventure in the mix, this program is sure to please kids whether they are already Jimmy Neutron fans or are new to the boy genius and his world. Amazon.com Review As you'd imagine, much of the film's personality is echoed here. You'll see the same moody prehistoric habitats, the same eye-popping dinosaur animations, the same stupid lemur jokes, and the same absence of scientific veracity. If you want a truly educational software program about dinosaurs, you'll have to look elsewhere (try the Magic School Bus or Dorling Kindersley CD-ROMs for true facts). With this program, you'll instead get loads of imagery, drama, and hypnotic games and activities rife with snarling Carnotaurs and Velociraptors. There are five areas to explore in this CD-ROM: one cool puzzle-making activity that allows you to construct a dinosaur all the way down to its exact roar, one neat chesslike strategy game that pits carnivorous dinos against their vegetarian brethren, and three hypnotic games that don't offer much beyond compulsive multilevel arcade play. It's hard to figure out whom the ironic Dating Game-style "Lemur Love Match" is meant to appeal to, yet in all other cases, the games (no matter how basic) are so well stocked with massive, rumbling reptiles that any layman dinosaur fan is going to find them perfectly satisfying. (Ages 5 and older) --Jean Lenihan Reviews (5)
The software is easy to maneuver through and the Arcade-style games are both entertaining and challenging with some games offering up to 100 different levels! I will agree that this game is a waste of money if you have an older system! We had several problems when we first bought the game, but have since updated our system and now have NO PROBLEMS at all!

Amazon.com Review The 24-pagestory can be read aloud with no computer skills needed beyondclicking on the arrow at the bottom of the page and at the start of thestory. (Parents or older children can choose whether the story will be readin Spanish or English.) For children with slightly more advanced mouseskills, every scene has multiple points that can be clicked on for hilariousthings to happen--you never know what you might find lurking in the trashcan! With the graphics so true to the original books' satisfying amount ofvocabulary-related activities, this award-winning storybook is bound to be abig hit with any Arthur fan. --Jill Lightner Reviews (3)
Arthur gets stuck with a hard teacher. The teacher starts out tough on the students, assigning homework right away. Arthur isn't very confident in himself and isn't used to the work and extra effort that he has to give to 3rd grade. With all of his hard work he actually gets awarded with something even better...and by reading this book you'll be sure to find out! Arthur is my favorite character in this particular Arthur book. He isn't very confident in himself, but we all relate to that. And in the end we sometimes get surprised by unexpected turns.
