Good starter for writing!
I have been analyzing different educational softwares with an emphasis in writing for a class that I am taking.I have looked at a number of writing softwares and found Creative Writer 2 to be one of the best ones.I do think that they could have done better in the writing prompts and explaining the menu- it is a little hard to get started.Overall, children will really enjoy this software and be able to use their creativity when writing.

MaybeI was expecting too much...
The description of this product talked about step-by-step templates, book reports, essays, etc.It also talked about the decorative features of this product, which ARE very good.My kids and I, however, couldn't findanything we'd call step-by-step instructions.The projects are ratherfrivolous: banners, ribbons, flyers, newsletters (incl. 'Tabloid Gossip!'-yuck), room signs, etc.The more serious writing ideas (scripts, stories,editorial, report, etc.) simply give a definition of the term and anexample with hints pertaining only to that example.-Then a suggestedassignment is given.Not much better in that way than the average text. The examples serve as the template, with the student having to replace theexample words with their own.I was hoping for prompts, suggestions,and/or reminders on blank templates.There is only one example of a reportcompared to several kinds of scripts...Which is more important? The'speech' idea is for an acceptance speech...How many kids need that!I wasplanning to use this to supplement our homeschool writing curriculum; tomake it more fun and provide information in a different, but stillconstructive way. The manufacturer's description specifically mentionedbook reports & essays...Neither are mentioned on the software at all.The 'fun' features are great, the educational value is just average. ... This review is mostly for those who have a formal business background and are looking for a business plan software to save them time in terms of formatting, design layout and financials. This is not the product for you.

I was very disappointed at what I saw - particularly the incredibly simple text presentation design and layout options - which I could have easily done on a basic Word document. Bolds and indentations were about as fancy as it got. No bar headings or other accoutrements that give business plans an overall polished and professional look. I just didn't feel that the product was worth the money - contrary to a very positive review I found in one of the online PC mags - esp. on point about superior design layout. Not so.

This product also did not have any kind of book or manual - as some other business plan programs such as Business Plan Pro 4.0 had. So, in this sense, perhaps it is not even the best product for beginniners - who would probably prefer a basic manual in addition to the program itself.

This is a very simple business plan - as the name says. I just didn't realize how simple. It has all the basic parts, but is a starter kit for those who are new to writing business plan and who don't have a formal business educational background.

DMTS Inside Flash MX Rocks!!
DMTS Inside Flash MX was the best training experience I've had in a long time. The instructor is terrific. The lessons easy to understand and apply. I plan to use DMTS products in the future, if this is typical of their quality. I'm amazed at how far this training has taken me and in such a short time period. In one weekend using Flash MX, I feel like a pro. Thank you DMTS.

Very Impressive Training Program
I am generally skeptical of video-based training on CD's because they tend to just talk you through the tedius manual without any real instruction. HOWEVER - this training program blew me away. The production values are high - the instruction is entertaining - and you can easily work along with the instructor...whose explanations and demonstrations make Flash EXTREMELY easy to learn. Not to mention Fun!

Speaking of which, MD Dundon (the on camera instructor for this program) has a great reputation in the Flash community --and it is COMPLETELY well-deserved. She breaks down the simple concepts of working with Flash and really helps you unlock the power --and learn the software the RIGHT WAY so that you don't have to "unlearn" your mistakes as you graduate to the advanced features. This training makes Flash seem so simple, even my teenage daughter could use it after watching the DMTS training program.

+6 stars,Learning 'Windows XP' by Mentor.
I didn't know anything about (1)'changing the time',(2)'downloading music on to a CD-R',(3)'constructing a firewall',(4) access to a simple 'calculator',or (5)'installing' and 'removing' software from my computer. Now I'm looking at 'video cams' and 'voice activated headsets' that plug into the computer,and dictate notes by voice. With 'Mentor' its like going to a restraunt,(1)they go grocery shopping for you,(2)do the cooking,(3)prepare the food,(4) serve you,(5)and wash the dishes. All you do at the end is pay the bill. In fact this is a lazy way to learn computer,and not go to a computer school for like two years to get an AA degree like my brother-in-law did. I had to tell him myself how to download music which I learned from 'Mentor',and my sister was completely stunned. Before 'Mentor',I was afraid of the computer,those incons,lots and lots of incons on the computer display. I was afraid I would delete something important or blow up that $1,500 dollar laptop investment. With 'Mentor',I'm like a pro using my laptop with confidence,just studied 'Mentor' for two days,and wow! Don't get left behind,this is the era of the computer,everything is computerized these days and not knowing is costly sometimes.

Wow! what a concept!
Mentor lives up to its promise that you can master Windows XP without training. After 15-20 minutes with the conceptual presentations, I was able to get started and then let it show and tell me how to do whatever I've wanted to do. This is the way it should be done.

This product is one you can't be without!
I am always on the computer and using all sorts of applications. Mentor is the best product I've ever experienced because it's so intuitive, easy to use and makes my job a breeze.I am not as adept with applications as my wife is, but Mentor works great for both of us. We give it 10 stars!!!!

Use WinXP immediately
I've been using PCs for over 10 years, but every upgrade freaks me out. I saw this reviewed on TechTV and jumped at the chance to buy it. Why? Because it talks to me & shows me how to do just about any task I can think of, and it got me over the hump of the new WinXP user interface. This is unlike anything I'd ever seen - like a Help system on steroids! - and, I think, the best way to learn how to use software.

This is not at all like some boring training program. I got everything I needed almost instantly - each task I wanted was shown & explained to me in about 1 minute! I did what it showed & told me & I went back to using my PC. It's all about getting you to USE WinXP, not spending hours taking a course and passing a test. Hey, NO TESTS... NO SIMULATION! Just the stuff you need, when you need it, so you can use your computer.

There's this one JIT (abr. for "Just-In-Time") that explains how the Windows O/S really works using some pretty cool animation. I also realized that they don't use complicated computer jargon - everything was in plain English, easy to understand.

Useless
Not worth one star.
This is undoubtedly the worst instruction manual I have ever seen. A book would be light years faster than this monster. If you enter a search word it takes absolutely forever searching through the disk.
Then you find inane statements.
I loaded the entire CD onto my hard disk and that is not much an improvement. Why it is even marketed?

Mastering Quickbooks 2003 Pro
For the price the product is pretty good. It teaches you the features of Quickbooks well. I purchased another CD ROM for $6 that covers very little. This is definitely superior. I'm sure you can spend about $100 for a better one.

Very Poorly Done
Don't waste your time with this one. All it does is read out loud the instructions already written on the screen. There's no explanation given for the important decisions it asks you to make. (i.e. fiscal year vs. calendar year, examples of how a catagory might be used) ... Read more

Mastering? Hardly
I could have written this material in my sleep.
The screenshots are all in notepad with the php manual open in the background, so you can tell the author is looking things up. The monotone narrative voice will put you to sleep.

Interesting ebook, but not an ecommerce software
I ordered this product because I thought it might help me to get some experience on posting e-commerce web pages. And here is what I got. A box arrived in my mail that had a cd on it. I inserted the cd in my drive, went through installation and found I had bought a e-book on how various people and companies carry out e-commerce--From the rascals who rip you off via phone to the web page builders who want to build credit card processing into their pages. I found that this book was too lengthy to read all, so I just scanned it and put it away. It was trying to tell me how to become a sucessful marketer when all I needed was to post a web page with credit card info on it. If you want to get the one program does all, try that other one called E-Biz or something like that. The reviews are better and at least you won't be wasting your pocket change.
