When the cost of a technical support phone call costs more than the program, it should tell you something. Lockups, error messages - what is your time worth? Spend a little more for something that works.

This software isn't perfect but it certainly served my purposes for getting holiday cards out this year. The database was easy to use. The help menus were good but sometimes did not match what was contained in the pull down menus. I loved the label and envelope templates but they all omitted the salutation field (Mr. Ms. etc.) and I had to make my own which took some practice and know how. For what I paid for this software it was just fine.

Very difficult to use. We tried using this to help us print our Christmas cards but it was unable to do it. It insisted on printing blank fields and didn't let us customize the output at all. A big thumbs down!

The scroll wheel doesn't work in searching the contact list which is annoying with large databases. When you print lists of contacts there is no control of the font size. Get out your magnifying glass to see the default size ACT selected.

Tech support: Pay per incident is $50 for the first 10 minutes and $5 for each minute thereafter!!! 5 incidents for $199/year. $300/year for unlimited support. WOW. And try the online message board. Good luck. For all the complaining about Micrsosoft products, at least there are newsgroups worth something where you can get real answers.

I've talked to tech support. No plans to change any of the above. Oh yes, ACT crashed twice before we got it running. We're returning it.

I have been an ACT user for over 6 years. I purcahsed the 6.0 upgrade due to the fact I bought a new copmputer that runs XP. I had a problem printing the monthly calander (did not have any problem with my old ACT version) I called ACT customer service and was told there is no free tech support for my problem. I could pay and receive help. I just want anyone looking to buy ACT to know that you get NO FREE tech support!!!

I love Act and have been using it for 6 years now. However, little bugs that I experienced from Act 2000 have STILL not been fixed. Like when you are SCHEDULING an event and the little calendar drop-down appears - then I move the mouse cursor down in to the calendar area to select a date- then the drop-down DISAPPEARS!? Very frustrating.

The email is better - but still does not work flawlessly with Outlook Express. It's best to use the cc:mail and enter your POP3 and SMTP and use the Act system instead - which does a good job- but not as fast as Outlook Express.

The improvements made to ACT 6 are mainly additional features, not improvements of existing features. Was it worth my money? - not this time around. I should have waited for the next version where hopefully they would make this product solid in all the important areas.

It is still the best program out there however in my judgement. I have investigated getting another program, but haven't felt comfortable with any other format. ACT has the best visual interface in my opinion. They just need to get the minor bugs out of the most important parts. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Didn't Meet My Needs
I bought AnyTime Deluxe 8.0 to meet two needs: To obtain printouts of address book and daily calender for my DayTimer planner and to synchronize this information with my Palm Pilot.

It was little things that bothered me about the printout capability. Although the program added lines to cut paper for reduced size used in planners, the size for a standard planner is not 8½x5½ as it should be, but rather 8x5. Also, there is no easy way of making double sided printouts using the program - you need either a printer capable of double-sided printing or the patience to develop your own process.

I was totally frustrated with the synchronization capabilities of AnyTime Deluxe. Not all contact fields (phone numbers, e-mail, fax, etc) in the Palm Pilot were transferred to AnyTime. This was totally confusing, since the mapping rules with the program showed them to be properly mapped. For contact information, the Palm has pull down lists for defining type of contact (home phone, business phone, etc.). This info is not transferred into AnyTime Deluxe. Rather, there are its own pull down menus. When you use these pull-down list and sync with the Palm, the description is added to the phone number. (Example, if phone number in Palm is "555-1234" and you add description "Business Fax" in AnyTime and resync, phone number in Palm is "Business Fax 555-1234", using up precious display space in Palm lists.) Most frustrating, on several occasions when I changed info in my Palm and resynced, the synchronization program tried to delete all records in my Palm.

Because of the frustrations with syncing, I uninstalled AnyTime. The program removed cleanly, but the synchronization conduit did not. It left its conduit in Palm's HotSync manager and failed to reactivate the conduits to Palm's desktop program. I had to uninstall and reinstall the Palm software and all other conduits I use to get back to where I was before trying AnyTime.

My advice: If you use a Palm PDA, don't use AnyTime Deluxe.

I like AnyTime Deluxe. I tried a bunch of other programs - different daily planners - and this one just seemed to be better. AnyTime has a feature that sends out reminders at different times, like every 3 or 4 days, or the last Friday of the month. The other calendar systems I've tried didn't have that many variables in the reminders. I've been using AnyTime for over 3 years, and would recommend it to anyone interested in staying organized!

We have owned this product in Versions 7 and 9 for our law office for several years. If you need for more than one user to access the program simultaneously, as we do in the office, the program networks seamlessly. You could pay a fortune for a multi-user calendar like this from other vendors. If you have more than two users needing access, you can buy a license. I have seen many complaints in these reviews about technical support; I have e-mailed a couple of times and received a thorough response within 24 hours. The interface for the calendar and address book is easy to use. I highly recommend the program because of features, ease of use, and price.

Anytime Deluxe 9.0 sounds good for the money. Mine quit working on WinXP after 2 days, and tech support did not reply to my complaint for over a week, when I was given the address to their FAQ page. It contained no helpful information. After calling them, the tech support person admitted there was a problem, and had me modify my registry. The software ran for about 2-3 days, and then stopped working again. I have called and written emails and tech support has not responded in over a week. Even at its best, the software is mediocre - so save your money and buy some software that works and that the company will support.

I bought Anytime because I already had version 2.0. I liked the earlier version, but many of the things the older version had were either missing or less user friendly in 8.0. I couldn't load the files from version 2.0 directly into the new, (fortunately the old computer is still running so I could manually copy one to the other.) The entry process had a lot of unecessary steps which slowed down the process. Version 2.0 reminds you of missed date entries, the new one doesn't.

The version 8.0 has a lot of bells and whistles, like fax/cell/watts numbers, direct connection to e-mail, and a few others. The technical assist to Anytime is non-existant, either by 3 no-responce e-mails or 45 minutes on the phone. I'd stick with version 2.0 if you can load it into your computer, otherwise stick with Outlook. ... Read more

Visual Staff Scheduler PRO made scheduling my staff easy. After setting up my employees (by entering their names and positions), I defined the shifts that I use. My retail store is open form 8 am to 9 pm Monday through Friday, so I have a variety of shifts throughout the day (from 4-hours to 10-hours in length). VSS PRO was flexible enough to let me define my own shifts.

With that information entered into the program, I was able to easily schedule my employees by selecting a shift and assigning it. Once I was finished scheduling my first month, I used the requirement rows and coverage totals to tell if I was over or under scheduled by day and shift.

When my schedule was finished, I easily generated reports for all of my employees. Not only could I view and print calendars for each employee, I could print a monthly staff schedule to post so everyone would know who is coming in and when.

Lastly, I actually figured out a way to better manage my employees' vacations through Visual Staff Scheduler PRO. Because the schedule has no ending date, I can pre-schedule vacations as far into the future as my employees ask. Now vacations are on a first-come-first-served basis. Firstly, I was impressed that they were willing to ship to me in the UK.
I was looking to target North American accountants, and they had a huge list (although im pretty sure all list sizes are roughly the same).
Really enjoyed reading the content that came with (us british do things differently so i wanted a feel for the NA way).
Got quite a bit of bites from my campaign and was overall very pleased. Buy it if you are comparing this to any other lead generation software.

I saw an ad for this product in home office magazine and was curious. Checked out the site. Company is certainly taking a new approach to sales leads, by focusing on the small business at a price nobody else is touching. I bought the product (the one with 3500 prepaid listings) and ended up buying more (about 1500) so in hindsight, I would have better off buying the more expensive of the two, and paid a little less per lead...but nonetheless, I really found it a to be a super tool. The CD basically takes you to their website where you can search for and download data. Very easy to use, and the best part of the process with dealing with customer service. They really seemed to care about the success of my campaign...helped me pinpoint the exact group of companies I was targetting and even helped me with the direct mail component. I have been managing my mailing list for my bi-monthly newsletter using an Excel Spreadsheet exporting to Word to do all the mail merging to lables and envolopes. I desided to give My Mail List a try. I am so pleased with the purchase I am going to upgrade to the Deluxe and try my hand at bulking mailing! I definitly recommend this to folks that want a easy program that manages your data and allows you to merge to letters, lables etc all inside one program. Two thumbs up for sure!

I have not seen or used a lot of other Windows-based programs of this nature, but this one is easy to use out-of-the-box for the average user. The only thing that I have come across that is somewhat difficult is the creation and modification of print templates, which is only necessary if you want a different print format than any of the many templates provided. To get a columnar listing of your mailing list data you probably will want to create your own template. The software author should make this process simpler and bug free (template creation and modification currently has a few bugs, which can be worked around if you have the patience). This opinion is also from an IT administrator. I have no idea why an IT person would find this program difficult to use.

If you are looking for a software solution to organize both your contacts and day-to-day operations, this is it. Shortly after the first version of Maximizer was released, I performed an in-depth comparison of an In-House developed system, Act, Goldmine, and Maximizer. Maximizer was the better product in terms of ease-of-use, flexibility, and capability. I recently repeated that same analysis and determined Maximizer clearly remains the best choice.

Maximizer has allowed me to do the work of an entire team - making the company seem much larger to the outside world while making each client and potential client feel as though he or she is my most important account. How? 1) By giving me total, instant recall of all past conversations and events for tens of thousands of contacts. In the few seconds the receptionist is transferring the call, I can pull up the contact and review his entire history in terms of past conversations, meeting notes, documents and unlimited user-defined fields customized to my operation, 2) By giving me the ability to easily email quotes or other information which the person often receives while he or she is still on the phone with me, 3) By allowing me to attach and save those quotes or any type of electronic document to that client, 4) By giving me the memory of an elephant - enabling me to schedule contact reminders, some of which may be more than a year into the future, 5) By making it easy to quickly print labels and merge contact information for mass personalized mailings, faxes, or emails. The size of the project makes little difference. A personalized message can be sent to 20,000 people as easily as it can be sent to one person, 5) By continually embracing and integrating new technology into the system, 6) By allowing unlimited contacts per client thus reducing data entry for new contacts... I could continue the list for some time, but by now you have probably gotten the point. I'm completely sold on this application....

For only a few extra dollars, Maximizer 5.0 or Enterprise will add more time saving and business organizing features. Version 6.0 shows even more promise.

To summarize: I would enthusiastically recommend this tool to my best friend while hoping my competitors never find it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Goldmine grew buggier over the years
We've been using Goldmine after switching from Act! several years ago. Believe it or not, but back then, Goldmine was an elegantly written software, much more stable than Act!

But since then the featurelist grew, and so did the bugs! Goldmine has given our software department (and please note that we ARE a software company) nightmares. Especially moving from its internal database format to SQL server has been painfull to say the least. Although we do have a support contract, the local reseller refuses any serious help, because they just wants to sell us consultancy hours.

It's (16 bit aging Borland based) database interface cripples the performance of our SQL server from 9000 records/sec to about 20/sec. And despite modern server, network and client PC, performance is a laugh. The amount of crashes of the GM client make the situation barely workable.

If only we had an easy way to convert to another program, we would have abandonned this badly written and badly supported program years ago. Its a shame. Without the bugs it would remain our number one choice.

I admit, I've had to give GoldMine time to grow on me. It is powerful, but unless you know sql or dbase, OR you have money to invest in a consultant, it can be a little frustrating, especially on reporting tasks. I now LOVE GoldMine, and this is largely due to finding a few select add-on products to make my life easier. For example, MasterMine software totally solved for my reporting and analytical needs (a BIG gap in GoldMine!!). Buy GoldMine for your business (it works GREAT for financial professionals using seminar marketing models, and for managing a sales force) but do yourself a favor and buy MasterMine too! You'll be much happier with your CRM tool!

I have used many different contact management software systems in the past and Goldmine is definitely worth it's weight in gold! As an insurance agent, I have many customers who may have several different types of policies and I may send out many different types of marketing pieces based on my internal market research. Goldmine has allowed me to customize my database to gather specific information relevent to MY agency. It is not the easiest software in the world to learn but once I have invested the money in a good trainer, a world of options opened up. It's very easy to synch with Word or Excel and export client lists to labels or envelopes or form letters. It's great for running data-specific reports and has ultimately saved me thousands of man hours and money. More then worth it if you are willing to invest time and money into learning the system and all the customizable options.

After trying to use Goldmine for 6 months, I finally gave up and switched to Act. Sure, you can customize to your heart's content but it was too complicated and had too many "bells and whistles" to make it practical for me and my small business. I never did figure out how to print labels or use half the features, evern after hiring a private tutor to help me out. I had to type all my addresses into a separate file for labels, etc. before importing them. So why bother doing twice the work? I'm no techno-babe but this was just too much for me. I've had Act for a month now and use it all the time, much more user-friendly for me.

If you are looking for graphics just for fun this CD is for you. I wanted it because i like to make games with a program I have and these graphics are perfect for some of the games i have made. I downloaded a 30-day "trial" version from the FranklinCovey site.The download took 2 hours - I haven't spent that long downloading a single file since I upgraded from dial-up! It took multiple attempts to get the program installed, I received no useful assistance from the company, and still could not get it to work properly.I'm very glad I opted for the trial first, despite the frustration of waiting.Wait for the company to make this more practical and more useful, before purchasing!

I can't believe I spent ...[money] on this worthless piece of trash.The idea behind it is good, but the interface is 10 X more awkward to use than Microsoft Outlook by itself.The tech support is a joke, and they even have the audacity to charge you... every time you have to call tech support.Can you believe it?THEIR product is screwed up, and you get charged to have someone help you with it.

Sure, this isn't the Franklin paper planner or the stand-alone software, but that's not the point. Probably like many who were behind its creation, I wanted something that would let me use the advantages of Franklin Covey without maintaining two seperate address books just for email. Takes a little time to get used to, but this system has worked great for me.

I was throughly disappointed when I got my new Pocket PC to find that this horrid software was,albeit free, included at all with my purchase. The Franklin software does not even come close the the Palm version, steer clear of this software, remember this is MICROSOFT OUTLOOK for franklin planner, not the other way around.

Simply, Do not buy this software. This is the worst software that I have ever used.

Since recently I purchased iPAQ handheld PC, I wanted to remove my paper Franklin Planner. Than's why I purchased this "terrible" software.

I spent several days installing and uninstalling this software and MS Outlook with no success. The only thing that I can use was not very useful Daily priortized list and master task list and others. Even I still have problems in pring the planner documents.

I don't know why are they selling this product.
Their technical support was not good and even useless.
