Powerful yet easy
I've had experience with several graphing programs to prepare presentations and manuscripts for biology journals. Kaleidagraph is as powerful as any of the others, but much easier to use. It was born on the Mac and it shows in its user-friendliness. You can edit the properties of just about any element on the graph by double-clicking on it. Most of the menus and dialog boxes are very intuitive - you don't need to go searching through a maze of successive dialog boxes to find the feature you're looking for. There is a wide range of graph types and features available, and graphs are easily updated when data are modified. Formulas can be written within the data spreadsheets to perform functions on entered data. Preexisting graphs can be used as templates for new graphs, preserving font sizes, symbols, text boxes, etc. The export options (esp. Windows metafile) are very useful in incorporating the graphs in other documents. Perhaps most importantly, I haven't experienced any glitches (corrupted files, features not working properly) as I have with other well-known programs.

One of the best around
KaleidaGraph is the best graphing/analysis package available in its price range, and I have tried many. The program is very easy to learn and yet has very powerful capabilities - for instance I have used it to to full non-linear multiple independent-variable curve fitting. It also has macro capability so if you want to crunch your data (FFT's, derivs, integrals, anything you can program) before plotting it you can do so; and the macros are FAST. In addition, the user control of the graph appearance is remarkable, and output is easily of publication quality. Finally, I have called them with questions and suggestions for new features and they have been incredibly responsive and helpful- just try that with Excel! Overall top rated.

Easy Enough for Beginners, Powerful Enough for Scientists
I use Kaleidagraph with my general chemistry students, many of whom are beginners with weak math and science backgrounds. Very quickly they are able to excel with this data-handling and graphing software. The package is easy to use, fast, has intuitive spreadsheet calculation features, and prepares versatile graphs quickly. I use this software as a tool to train my students to understand data they collected and to relate the data to the physical significance of the experiments they perform. All of the physical sciences in our program now use it.

Do not need Powerpoint to use this.
Digital Juice is great, it has so many options. No you do not need Powerpoint to use it. It has the files for both multimedia (Powerpoint, etc.) and print. You should be able to use it in any program that allows graphics. Its a great resource because it has so many options. If you go to Digital Juice's website and do a search for Digital Juice 2.0 you will find more about it on there (also the price is cheaper on their website).

Great software for powerpoint presentaions and web design.

More options than i will ever need. the variations on one background you can get truly amazes me. the video that comes with the software is good... But he states in the software "we will talk about that later" and he never does. I think a digital juice for dummies would help at least me to learn more from this program and to utilize all that it has to offer. if you have time to play and have knowledge of powerpoint and web design it is an excellent tool.

Outstanding

Used the BizPlanBuilder 2004 version
I've just used the BizPlanBuilder 2004 version and it is the best business planning software out there. (I purchased the leaders and found this one to be the most flexible, usable and real.) I was also blown away by how much is included to help me implement my plan, as well as the extra info is available on their website! I even called a few times with some questions and they were always right there. (Even one time on a weekend!) After I watched th evideo, I was convinced that the JIAN people really know what they are doing and are solidly behind their products (looks like an entire suite!).

Beware - 2004 New Version Does Not Work
I purchased the newest version of BizPlanBuilder on 1-09-2004 and I have been unable to open the Word documents to edit. I've tried this software under Windows 98SE and Windows XP Home. I updated Microsoft Word to the SR-2 version as per the authors web site and the software still does not work. I was surprised to find a company which is supposed to know so much about business does not have a patch or update availabe on it's web site. You have to email the company and ask for the update (if available).
It could be an anti-virus software program is interfering with BizPlanBuilder. But again, how much can they know about business if they don't understand how many people have anti-virus programs running nowadays.
If I could make my purchase all over again, I would go with another program. I'd rather pay $99.00 for a program that works than $49.00 for one that does not.

Stay away from JIAN!
First, I'm not a competitor-- I'm an end user-- and found Jian's programs to be kludgy, full of bugs, highly overpriced, does not deliver what is promised, and with exceptionally bad customer service. I am in the process of suing them to get my money back-- they are utterly unscrupulous, and I strongly advise you to do business with other software companies.

Fast and easy
For me writing a business plan is like pulling teeth. But I need the investment capital for my business and my investors want a good plan. BizPlan made it all sooooo much easier. The financials alone are worth many times this price. A consultant wanted to charge me $3,500 for the plan and twice that for the financials. I've done it myself in a few days and more important, BizPlan helped the numbers make sense so I could talk intellegently to my investors. Awesome product...I'll be checking out your other tools in a few weeks.

Planning is that which many entrepreneurs like least to do as they feel it is confining and subjects them to the rigidity of a fixed projections.
