Strong may be too strong
I bought this program new from a department store. This is a strong pop up blocker. It nails every pop up add that tries to show its ugly little head. The only bad thing is that this program also blocks opening Internet explorer (on the desktop) and various other programs such as yahoo mail opening from messeger. The fix is to hit the control key when attempting to open the window. Then it will open . I don't like having to do this. None the less it is a effective program on my cable internet connection.

I recieved this product free from my internet provider.It has worked less well as time has gone on.After two months now, with the program running, my pop up ad problems are just as bad as they ever were.I guess the ad programmers have figured out how to beat this program.

BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE
I bought a copy of this product from a reseeler and it is not working right so i contacted panicware for some help and all i am getting is the run around about where i bought it, almost like they do not want to help because i did not buy it from them.
in a e-mail i sent them i told them what it was doing and they responded by saying if you bought it enter the code, but i had told them that did not help so for 4days i have been dealing with them and I still am no further than i was. They are beingno help at all.

If you view the World Wide Web as a giant virtual scrapbook, then Data Becker's Web Magnet is the tool for sifting through it and uncovering the media files that you need. Web Magnet sorts, catalogs,and downloads images, sound files, and video clips from the Web to aspecified folder. It can search any number of Web sites, as well asmajor search engines and Usenet newsgroups, based on a keyword orfilename.

Here's how it works: smaller files such as still images(including JPEG and GIF) and sound files (like MP3) are downloadedimmediately as matches to the search are found. Because of the size ofmost video files like MPEG and MOV, matches for these searches are only listed, not downloaded; files can then beindividually selected for downloading.

As search matches for imagefiles are found, Web Magnet creates a thumbnail preview for each. Mostimage files can be viewed in Web Magnet's image viewer, but (oddlyenough) GIF files cannot. Also, sound files and video clips cannot be viewed inside Web Magnet andrequire their own viewer.

Speed is of the essence when it comes to atool like this, and Internet connection speed really determines how useful or painful using Web Magnet can be. Web Magnet Is Great!
This is a very powerful tool for those who like to download images and sound clips. You can add more search engines to it very easily. If you don't want to spend 5 hours surfing for specific images, let Web Magnet do it for you while you do other things. If things are out there Web Magnet will get them for you automatically and in great abundance. There is a short learning curve if you want to use it to your full advantage. You must read the very nice manual that comes with it to get the most out of it. What this program does in essence is acts as a Master search engine that utilizes other search engines to do its work. You can add as many new internet search engines to it as you desire. These all work in parallel to find what you want. They will follow links to other sites. You can configure Web Magnet to go down into a website to as many layers as you desire, within reason of course. It can be configured to ignore slow sites or include them. Minimum image size can be specified. All your download stuff is saved to special folders that you create. You can set it up to use specific file types that are cogent to your search. You can add file types to its file types lists. And now for a little downside stuff. I had to rate this program with 5 stars because it is so very efficient and does what it says it will do, and is extreemly easy to use. However there are a couple of small issues that I feel you who read this should be aware of. Like any search engine you should be very specific in the search text as to what you are looking for and you might have to play around with words a little for it to find what you want. Also like most search engines it will return to you some content that you have no wish for and that has nothing in reality with what you are searching for. In other words it is not perfect. But then nothing is. When I first ran this program my security log showed that along with its normal search module it had another module that jumped to the internet and connected to a site ... . I don't know if this is automatic registration or what it is, but I don't like it doing this behind my back. I immediately configured a rule to block this site from receiving anything from my comuter. This piece of information is for those who care. Otherwise I am delighted ten times over with Web Magnet and would recommend it to anyone. I use a dial up connection and can only imagine how awsome this program would be if connected to a DSL service.
