Be aware!! The First Accounting 2004 version is not backward compatible with the older version. Whatever information you built in the previous version can not be transferred to 2004 unless you upgrade to premium version, which means you have to pay a lot more for something you don't need and for just getting the conversion support. ... If it was free, I wouldn't use it.!
Definitely a waste, no help at all. Crank up your Microsoft word and get a book called "How to say It...In your job search" by Robbie Miller Kaplan. Now that is worth every penny!

Don't Waste Your Money!
Not at all user friendly. Job categories are VERY limited and do not include several major categories in today's market!

Could be better.
Winway Resume 6.0 is not very user friendly. They could've made things a lot more easier with a more advanced tool bar for short cuts. The templates are good, but I recommend allowing users to keep their font styles while they switch between themes instead of losing their font settings and having to start all over. When you make changes to font styles in certain sections (address and phone number section for example), the font changes only apply to the line you edited (address)instead of the whole section (address and phone number). I am also getting error messages from Windows 98 when I try to print:"Winway caused an invalid page fault GDI.exe the program will be terminated". Sometimes I'm able to print, but several other times the program just shuts down! I downloaded the free updates before I even tried the software. Unfortunately, none of the updates had anything to do with my current problem. I hope they get this ironed out soon. If your buying this software thinking it will get you a job, your wrong. Not just 5 stars .....5 GOLD Stars!
I had a bad experience with another brand (instant resume) and was fortunate to stumble upon your software. Talk about night and day in comparison. I had originally planned to purchase the Winway software next but was drawn toward buying your product by the retail packaging. Your software also seemed to be the hot selling product and I noticed Winway's software had some "item returned for refund" stickers on them. After installing your software I was immediately impressed by the nice looking GUI design and how easy and intuitive it was to get started using this program. Also, your software did something the other brands failed to do. It got me noticed and called in for interviews! I am pleased to say that i found a new job which I will be starting in the next 2 weeks, not to mention a bump up in salary!ResumeMaker is #1 hands down and I would recommend this software to anyone.

A great resume maker. Outstanding helping tool.
This is very easy to use software that helps you use strong, descriptive words that will give you an edge when submitting resumes.
Plus, there are great video interviewing hints and tips.
Also included in a job search engine that hooks into many Internet job banks. You can search through the program and find jobs from 20 or more places by just doing one search.
Very nice and pleasant to use this resume maker. Everything worked great without any problem.

Buy a book instead
This is probably the buggiest piece of software I've ever used. It has taken me about 2 to 3 times longer to get a resume I can actually use than it would have taken if I bought a decent book and typed it by hand in a word processor. There are plenty of suggested phrases and some of them are pretty good, but it looks like they just gleaned them all from existing resumes (they have an online posting service) rather than actually wrote them specifically (some have spelling and punctuation mistakes, and some are just awful).
The bugs in this program are unforgivable though:
- Some fields in the "wizard" don't transfer through to the actual resume. You end up with placholder text like, "[Enter your description of responsibilities.]"
- If you change the section style (for example try a different layout for the jobs in your experience section), you will lose everything you type into the old layout!!!! The pre-fab phrases will transfer to a "scratch pad" so you can cut and paste, but any custom edits to those phrases get tossed (changing back will wipe out your scratch pad entries, so you lose everything)

I used to work in the software industry (hence the need for such a program), and the number of tech resumes and phrases is appalling sparse, especially given the current job market. At any place I've worked, if we released a product to the public with bugs like these, we'd be fired on the spot.

Once again, I'm learning there are no shortcuts in life worth taking. Since I downloaded it, I doubt I can get my $40 back. You, on the other hand have a chance not to waste yours. If you do decide to buy it, you should eliminate applying for any accounting or finance positions ;-).

No Video Functions for the Download Version! Crashes!
I bought the download version last week from individual software's official site. After using it, have the following feelings:

1. whenever i click the salary finder fuction, this program crashes. Also, there are only few salary reports in this program. Much of the salary trend charts are empty.

2. Users or buyers are not properly informed that the download version is without the video function which is available in the Cd version ( I was not informed about this term until i bought the download and saw the Help file in the prgram. The retail and download version both charges the same price. Why doesn't I have the video function too!?

3. I wrote an email to the company asking them to explain this issue to me and have never heard from them. Bad support.

4. it does not have even popular occupation resume sample like flight attendant, ticket service agent.

In conclusion, mediocre + not as advertised + bad customer support. -> wasted 40 bucks

Horrible, don't order it and Espeacially! don't download it!
This software is horrible! do not order, or download it. I work in a IT dept. I am around PC's all day. This software is buggy, and it doesn't really do much. I could make a better resume in Microsoft Word much easier and faster, don't waste your time. ... Read more

Hard to use and operate. Be aware!
This software and some others in the line are like the cars from the 80's, use old technologies. The design is old and look and feel is old as well! I would think as if I was driving an 80's car when I used a newer technology software. Now is a time to use software that use .Net technology.

Switch and Bait
I don't know who wrote the reviews which rated this product above 1 star but they must work for Peachtree. An accounting system that does not even let you change the due date on a customer invoice after it is entered is no accounting system. Peachtree's answer to this and other short comings is, "You should buy our top of the line system."

I urge anyone considering this system to purchase to reconsider.

Superior value, superior integrity
This is a simple, yet impressive product. We switched to Peachtree from MAS90 when we downsized. It costs only a 10th of what MAS90 cost, but compares very well. In some ways better, like Payroll. Anyone that can't balance their accounts with this product has a poor understanding of running a business, and using accounting software. It certainly does not have the features that larger companies need, but if you do less than $5,000,000 per year in sales, and won't grow past 6 or 7 users, then this is a good buy for many types of businesses. Especially because it has a great import/export wizard, to help you get it going, and then later to migrate out of it if you grow!

Small business owner
I have found this to be the best GAAP accounting software available. In responce to the vetrinary clinc review. I'm not sure why you've had so much trouble I've found Peachtree's support to awesome, great techs with above average knowledge.
I guess you MUST first understand accounting before using this product. I highly recommend this product for start up companies.

wonderful product
I found Peachtree Complete 2004 to be an excellent product for my small business. The set up program made it very easy to get started and with all the sample information already in the product, it was very easy to copy the information to set up my own books. The fact that it automatically converted my information from QuickBooks made it even easier. The support plan seems a little pricey, but well worth it. Better in every way
I am a long time user of PaperPort, and I think this verison is by far the best. By basing the entire product on the PDF file format, PaperPort is now one of the most useful products on my machine. The speed and stability issues mentioned in reviews above have all been ironed out in 3 service packs released over the last several months, and the last pack seems to fix all the major issues. Why is this version so godd?

- I can create PDF files from any type of document (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) and combine them right on the PaperPort desktop by right-clicking and stacking.

- I can scan paper documents into PDF, add electronic annotations and then email them to lawyers, accountants, mortgage brokers and all the other people who ask me to fax them things. It is so much faster and reliable to email instead, and with PDF files, I know they can open it on their computer and see it just as I did.

- The new "batch processing" feature lets me clean-up multiple scanned documents at one time and also apply a clean-up operation to all the pages of a single document. This is way better than it was in v8.

These are just a few of the reasons why the new verison is great. As further proof of this, PC Magazine named PaperPort one of the top 100 technologies for 2003 (one of only 6 productivity software titles along with Microsoft Office 2003 and QuickBooks.) Smart Computing put PaperPort on its top 50 list, and there are numerous other great reviews out there as well.

Don't let the few angry people here give you the wrong idea about PaperPort 9. It's great.

Scansoft's very low grage product
Whatever we read All that Manufacturer's describtion On this SOFTWARE as an advertisement, does not work fully. It just like a bait. I was using Paperport 8 Deluxe which was almost thousand percent good enough in compare to PaperPort Pro 9 Office. So after I upgraded Paperport Pro 9 Office from Paperport 8 Deluxe, I feel myself a very stupid.

PaperPort 9 is a Great Productivity Tool!
PaperPort has changed the way my company does business. With it's scan to PDF and PDF creation abilities we have turned piles of paper credit applications into electronic documents that we can easily email, store and quickly retrieve when needed by using the SimpleSearch feature. My word processors use batch processing to perform tasks on groups of documents to save even more time when reviewing the applications before we send them to their respective card issuers for approval or denial. We used to process about 2,000 applications a day, now with the help of PaperPort we can easily process over 10,000 a day with the same number of staff!

New Version of PaperPort is The Best Yet
I have been a dedicated PaperPort user for many years. I was surprised when I went to purchase the product and saw all of these terrible reviews. Since I had such a good experience for so many years I decided to give it a try. ScanSoft offers a 30 day refund policy there was no way I could loose. After using the product for a few weeks, I have found that this new version is the best yet. The software is much easier to use and faster when scanning large batches of documents. I have been using the FormTyper feature and found it very useful for completing paper documnts with information and saving a copy for my records - much easier than completing them by hand and then making a copy. I also have been using the tools to edit pictures from my digital camera.

Too Slow by far
I am comparing Paperport 9 to Paperport 8. My major use is to store documents for future viewing and to maintain a record of my trading cards. I have no use for scanning into Adobe for later editing so I use the .max format. I own two scanners - a SCSII A4 scanner and a Parallell port A3 Scanner. Scanning documents is easy, especially with the ability to keep on scanning pages which are automatically stacked into a single file. However saving the document is very slow. Loading documents appears to take far too long. Loading a 200 dpi A4 page takes about 3 seconds with Paperport 8 and about 10 seconds with Paperport 9. Loading a 600 dpi trading card (6cm by 10 cm approx) - in Paperport 8 the picture starts to appear after 3 seconds and completes in steps in about 10 seconds - in Paperport 9 nothing happens for about 30 seconds and then suddenly the whole image appears.
Editing the document in Paperport 9 - enhancing, rotating, straightening - is fast about 2 or 3 times as fast as in 8. But after straightening, all straight lines become jagged - something that didn't happen in Paperport 8.
Saving is again very slow taking about 20 seconds to save a trading card. However try loading an A4 document at 600 dpi. My system hung 3 times (which isn't bad in XP). I gave up. ... Read more

It's a great tool
I've noticed a few others haven't liked this program. All I have to say is that I found it to be a usefull tool. I was completely blocked when I started looking for a job after three years. I had only a really old resume (somthing that was great for entry level..but not for someone who's been in the work force for awhile). This software allows you to keep your job search organized. I love the fact that you can customize each resume and letter. Heck I used this program to write my cover letters, thank you letters and my letter of resignation.

It won't do the work for you and like anything you get what you put into it. But I found this one to be a keeper and I reccomend it to anyone who's having a little problem getting started on your job seach...HAPPY HUNTING! Oh and I started my new job on Monday at a nice pay raise... ... Read more

For what it's worth...
I'm a financial planner who deals with estate planning issues all the time (though I'm not an attorney). To clarify the two previously posted reviews, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A JOINT WILL.

A will is a document that reflects an individual's desires as to what should happen to their assets when they die, among other things. The person from IL who wrote about joint assets needs to understand that no matter what their wills say, joint assets pass to the surviving owner upon death of the other party.

Lots of people are unclear on this point.

Anyway, I'm coming dangerously close to dispensing advice in a forum not intended for it, and I cannot make any claims pro or con about the software because I've never used it. The original scathing review is not, in and of itself, justified, however.

Correction to Above Review
A software user from IL United States complains that there is no will for a married couple. It is my understanding there is no such thing. Each spouse does their own will. Maybe we need an actual Will & Estates attorney to review this software.

Did not have married w/children will....Don't buy on price
I found this software very cumbersome. You need to establish users before opening any documents for review. I purchased it mainly to draft a will for my husband's and my assets. We are married with children and I wanted a will that addressed our situation. I tried to create a work-around so that the will addressed husband and wife, however the template was not flexible. I could draft a will for me and then a will for my husband. We have joint assets.

After the purchase, I saw a review on Broderbund's 2002 version, and they had an attorney review their documents and they were "loaded" with legal errors. What a waste. At least I didn't spend $40 on it.

I expect that I will spend that ($40) on Quicken's version, after I confirm its contents. A will that addresses dual rights of married couples with children, Quicken Lawyer please tell me you can help! ... Read more

Don't even think about this product
I got this software for free after the mail-in-rebate. Even after that will strongly advise anybody from buying this software. This is nothing more than a Wordpad application. If you want help with resumes you will have more luck at any of the online resume sites.
If you are expecting this software to give you multiple templates and hints, you will be disappointed. There are only around 6 or 7 templates which are not impressive.
Bottomline is that it is waste of money(if you paid for this software) and time.

Please,do not waste your money on this software!! I bought it for 12.95, is not even worth 5 dollars. The quality and the functionality of this software is poor. I personally rate it a zero. If you want quality software do not buy this product.

Worst program and support ever encountered !
I purchased this program and have had nothing but problems from the start. It installs, loads and opens fine but thats where it ends. The program is dead slow in operation. Changing the format of a Resume can take up to three minutes to happen. Just opening the dialog button to make a change, any change is drastically slow. You are much better off using word. After e-mailing their Technical Support staff I can see why the product does not work. They are all totally ignorant of their own product and how to fix any problems. You would have better luck clicking your heels together and "wishing" it were fixed. The company policy states a full refund from the manufacturer if not completely satisfied, FORGET IT. Upon asking for a refund after many attempts to get help, I was told that they would only exchange the product for another. What a Crock. I have since purchased another product that works just fine. It is Nova's Win Way Resume and it is just great. If you need a Resume software program go with them and stay away, far away from anything that Individual Software produces, they are a rip off.

Stick with Word. This product is a loser!
This program is an exercise in frustration. Once you get past installation problems and run time errors, there is not much to be rewarded with. The format is awkward and difficult to understand. After spending the time to make the resume look just as you'd like it, you find that it will only look that way if you print it from ResumeMaker. Forget about sending it by email. Nobody out there has ResumeMaker to open your file with and converting the resume to a common file type mangles the look you spent so much time to create. Despite the informative content, this program lacks a lot. The Resume Caster and Job Finder take too much time for the poor results they produce and there is a lack of example resumes for common professions. For the quality you get, this program should be shareware. Anything over $10 for this product is too much. And it's a good thing Individual Software's tech support is toll-free because their knowledge and service leave much to be desired.

Better than nothing but not by much.
The program does not allow you to easily reuse previously entered data. Most of the time I would like to reuse the entered data for different resume types. But the program does not allow you to choose to use previoulsy entered data and makes you enter it again each time. So you must enter your employment history over and over.

The program asks for the same information over and over. Each time you change the resume format it ask for you employment history and education. This information is usually the same. The program should give you the option of reuse of previously entered information. Other users also mentioned a version 7.3. Yet when I called customer support and asked where to get the upgrade they either had no idea or said the program would automatically update during registration. Well the program does not self upgrade and the current 7.0 version has problems.

Not ready for prime time
After reading the reviews on this website I purchased Resume Maker 7.0 and installed the program on a Windows2K computer. The installation of the program is the only thing that has not given me problems. Though the program has many excellant features, getting them to work properly has been an exercise in patience. Even after getting the upgrades to V7.3 the program still constantly crashes or changes the spacing/formatting of the document I am working on. Text is dropped out of description cards with out me knowing it, spaces and/or lines are inserted at the end of description cards for no reason, and I could go on. This software has the potential to be a great program, but in my opinion it is not quite ready for prime time. ... Read more
