As a former software quality assurance tester for a major software company I have to say that this is arguably the easiest and most useful program I have ever used.

Through the years I've had to dabble with Photoshop, Quark, PageMaker and FileMaker. The companies that make these titles like us to think that their programs are easy to use. Well, they need to send some folks over to Omni Group to learn how it's really done.

I've never been able to just sit down and intutiively know how to operate software such as this. OmniGraffle has been the exception. Within minutes I had created a flow chart of ideas that was close to perfect. I didn't even need to look at the directions. Speaking of which, the small manual for this program looks like a booklet made by Dorling-Kindersley. You can't get any more user friendly than that.

If you work with ideas and concepts - creative writing, marketing, politics, business, nonprofits. speech writing, education, etc. - you will find this software useful. It will allow you to easily and succinctly present these ideas to others or just for your own personal use.

Omni Group has a demo version of this software which allows users to have up to 20 graphic items in their document. This might sound like a lot, but it isn't. If you're serious about using the software you'll definitely want to purchase it.

This remarkable program astonishes people. It may be the finest software I have ever used--and I've used more than my share. OmniGraffle is designed to create visual representations of data, from time lines, to flow charts, to electronic diagrams, to office lay-outs, and much, much more. But this sterile list hardly does justice to the amazing flexibility and ease of use of this program. Everything from object fill, to line width, to line features, to labelling, to color, to fonts, to page lay-out are so feature rich, so user friendly as to put any competitors to rest. There certainly is nothing even close to this software in the Windows world. (If you are using something like Visio for these tasks, you are in the stone-age.) I wish I could include a sample document to illustrate what this program can do. But, since I can't, go to OmniGroup's web site (www.omnigroup.com) to check out their examples.

After using Marketing Plan Pro from the same company with a lot of success, I decided to try out their Web Strategy Pro product to help me plan and improve my company's web site. This product was very helpful in making sure that our web site is helping the company by making us money instead of losing money. It asks you questions about your site that you may not have even thought of. It makes you think about who you're trying to target, what you're trying to accomplish, and it helps you set your traffic and sales predictions and goals, which has led our site to a lot of success.

All in all, I had never heard of writing a web site plan, but I can't believe more people aren't doing it. It's improved our web efforts a ton, it was well worth the money.

I don't want to rate the product as such (3 means neutral) but I would advise anyone thinking of using Peachtree to either have an understanding of accounting or an accountant nearby. It is a very good program but it does demand some accounting kowledge or technical skill.

This software could be good if you are an experienced accountant. However I think it is very complex and hard to work with if you want it to be simple and fun to work with. Good luck in your selection.

I got this product (Accounting 2004) to run my small business. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

I tried running the included tutorial to learn to navigate around this product, but the tutorial was meaningless to someone who is new to accounting principles - the tutorial is simply a imaginary company with imaginary data. It just shows you in which "bin" each of the imaginary data goes, but doesn't help you to correlate your information to the imaginary data and then into the "bins."

This is particular true for me since the tutorial provides for a typical products based company (i.e. lots of invoices from vendors and some invoices from your company), while my business is a service business - much like the audience for this Peachtree product. I couldn't fully service business information on top of their product based company tutorial.

The final straw that made me junk this product before fully implementing it is that this product does not (or at least I cannot find) understand setting up multiple checking accounts and/or setting up a trust account.

In my line of work I handle trust money and must account for each client's trust money in a pooled trust account. I don't believe this product gives me that ability and upon a call to Peachtree customer service, they would not answer this basic question without requiring me to pay for a service plan. The help file and online help community was likewise unhelpful. Yes, they offer 30 days of free customer service, but my issue cropped up after the 30 days time period.

In short I am out a bunch of money for a product that I will uninstall. I don't even think I can sell it at a substantial discount legally. I would recommend Quickbooks instead of this thing.

This product is too complex for a small or home-based business. Try Peachtree First Accounting for something that won't take up all your time.

Also, beware if you use a high-end version of Windows - they claim "Product will not operate in a Windows Terminal Server Environment using Windows Terminal Services". Well, ignore the "using" part of their statement. It won't work if terminal services simply _exists_ on your machine, whether you're currently using it or not! I guess they are concerned with piracy, but this is over the top, and I doubt even applicable to this product considering its intended audience and use. It's not like everyone in a small business is going to be running this software via terminal services to access a single installed PC. The business owner is just going to run it as needed. In any event, this would not be an issue had one of their developers spent 5 minutes extra and put the _proper_ check in - don't check for the existence of terminal services, but rather check to see if the user is logged into the console, and if so, let it run, else don't. ... Business plan pro indeed!

I started my business in 2002 and needed a business plan. I didn't know where to start. The bank said that an accountant needed to review the figures and projections.

Geez! I am in a service business and whereas an accountant may know the numbers, they didn't know the business. My accountant said that I should write the plan and let him go over it. Yeah..right! SO I searched the Internet and came across this software. Gosh, just $99.00 bucks to secure my future obtain a business loan and get started. Seemed a fair deal, so I ordered the software and some books as well on writing a business plan.

The books said it might take a couple of months to write a proper plan to present to investors and convince them. The software said it would produce a winning plan. Ok, time to get started. Ahh.. They had sample business plans that one could look at. Nice!

Well, I followed the instructions and got started. It took a couple of weeks of editing but at the end there it was. Nicely generated plan, indexed, pages numbered nicely double-spaced. A truly professional and legal looking plan which I proudly presented to my accountant. He said, this is a lot, it is even more that they need and you will have no problems with the bank. Needless to say I wanted to believe him.

Then the day came and I presented my plan to three separate banks and waited...and waited...and waited...Then the first bank called, apologetic. My plan was so comprehensive it took them more time than usual to go through but..it was approved! They would offer 50% financing. Then the second bank called.. Approved! They would offer 90% financing. The third bank called.. needed more time, they had NEVER seen such a comprehensive and well written business plan..needed another week to fully digest it. Then they called about two weeks later. They wanted my accountant and I to meet with the Manager. They wanted a few things explained.

This did not look good!

There were a few figures they could not understand how they were generated. My accountant explained that the numbers were generated in a computer program, Business Plan Pro and he had gone over it and it was using a different recording method to what they were accustomed. [ It was all accountant talk that I have summarized]. All smiles! APPROVED! 100% financing.

Needless to say, you know which bank I went with in the end!

Thanks business plan pro. I can truly say that this software was worth every penny and I heartily endorse it!

I needed to write a business plan, but didn't really want to, and didn't know where to start. Business Plan Pro was recommended to me, and was the best investment I've made in a long time. The software really helped me to understand what a business plan was all about and to get organized and get it done. It wasn't as hard as I thought!

I am not a business person and have no head for financials, but this software made me feel confident that what I was producing was a complete and professional plan. I had no time left to write a business plan and little experience putting one together. On a suggestion from a friend I ordered the Business Plan Pro software and started it up. Imagine my relief when the software literally walked me through the entire process!!

I put together a basic plan, and wrote it over the span of 3 lunch hours. Easy to understand process, outstanding resource help, great customer service and a tech service department that didn't make me feel like I was asking stupid questions.

I would recommend this product to anyone who needs a helping hand in writing, but doesn't have the money to spend on an expensive consultant.

I have just upgraded to the latest version of Business Plan Pro and am very pleased with it. I have been using Business Plan Pro since I started my business last year, and thought I would only use my business plan to get a loan and never look at it again. Instead I have found myself keeping it updated monthly, cos its so easy to jump into the program and make changes to it.

The newest version has a new interface that is more user friendly and I the whole program a lot more manageable. My only criticism of the last version is that there was so much on the screen you didn't know where to start.

I would recommend any business owner or wannabe business owner to get themselves a copy of this software. ... Read more

I bought this software because it's cheaper than Quickbooks, and actually rated better (or so it says on the box). Although I hate several things about Quickbooks, I will be returning this and shelling out for it. The description you read here, and on the box, makes it sound like converting from Quickbooks is a breeze. Not so! I was under the impression that you would back up your QB info and then transfer it to SA. Nope...you actually "export" every little file from QB onto a disk, then "import" it to SA...and that just includes lists and your chart of accounts, that doesn't mean that it loads an up-to-date Accounts Receivable or Payroll ledger. That's all stuff you get to do by hand! Sorry, but I just don't have that kind of time, and to be honest with you, this software doesn't even seem worth it. Now, if I was just starting up a business and had never used a higher-end software like QB, or if I had a few weeks to do nothing but enter info from QB to SA, that would be one thing, but please! Consider this more of a low-budget accounting software...and remember, you get what you pay for!

After purchaing this software to change from Quickbooks, I learned the information in Quickbooks is not as easy to convert, and only converts names, etc. Also the customer service is also non-existant. After sitting on hold forever. I could get the software to work, kept giving me errors, keeping me in a continual look to keep entering information and than giving me an error. I sent the software back since I was unable to use and was unable to get the software update and tax update refunded. Be careful

This software Create PDF files from almost any word processing or html programs with very effective compression ratio almost 1/10 the original size. You can also convert post script ps files into PDF files. You can extract pictures, text from any already created PDF files as well.
With this version you can also create an interactive electronic forms similar to the tax forms. This upgrade version will only install on your system if you have Adobe acrobat 4 or 5 installed. This version only works with windows XP, 2000, NT with latest service package.
The difference between the acrobat 6.0 and the acrobat 5.0 is not so big. The new version is optimized for intel P4 systems and it's slightly faster than the old version.

As a Realtor who is pushing the envelope, attempting to move to digital file keeping, digital recording, digital faxing, and digital signing, the concept of Adobe Acrobat is extremely helpful. I've been using Adobe Acrobat since version 4. Version 5 was a very useful upgrade, worth every cent. Version 6 was a grand waste of money and has turned into a waste of time. Files take longer to save in Adobe Acrobat 6, but they do end up being smaller, so maybe there is a more advanced compression algorithm at work. Nevertheless, files do take about twice as long to save in the new version.

Furthermore, at least for my line of work, I see no useful additions to the software. The interface looks a little fancier, and a little more advanced with more curved lines and a splash screen with transparency...(everybody together now, "Oooooh, aaaaaaah"). But, at least for my line of work, I have not seen any productivity or security upgrades which make the investment worthwhile. Save yourself the money and stay with version 5.0.

Unfortunately, it seems that the other reviewers' negative comments are right on the money.

I bought the 6.0 upgrade without reading the reviews. Woe to the foolish. It slowed WORD to a crawl, brought DtSearch to it's knees, and twice locked my system up so tightly I couldn't get the task manager open.

I didn't waste any additional time seeing how slow it was at its own tasks. I'll take everyone's word for it.

Less than one day on the machine. I've gone back to 5.0.

I downloaded an evaluation copy of Acrobat 6 before I read the reviews here. I can confirm what others are saying: unlike the upgrade from 4.0 to 5.0, 6.0 doesn't offer the average user additional usefulness over 5.0.

It's also much slower to load and takes twice as long to creat .pdf files. The interface is completely different, so there will be a steep learning curve for users upgrading from previous editions. Sometimes, software developers just screw one up, and this one is such an upgrade.

Pay close attention to the features you need: If you just want to print files to .pdf, you don't need all the stuff 6.0 offers. You'll never use 80% of the features they've added.

After one day, I got frustrated, realized I didn't have the time to learn an entirely new piece of software so that I could simply continue to make .pdf files, and uninstalled it.

Lesson learned: Check for reviews FIRST.

By the time I was done reading the reviews for Adobe Acrobat 6.0 I was depressed. Not only do I not have Windows XP, or Windows 2000, or NT installed in my machine (The only operating systems that will work with 6) I also couldn't muster up the confidence in the product after so many people were giving it the thumbs down. I want to create an eBook, and Adobe Reader is the most popular reader out there, with some 400 million, to a half a billion users with it installed. What a dilemma. I kept coming back to read some more. Finally I found the answer. I bought a new Adobe Acrobat 5.0 here at Amazon from one of their vendors, and it works great with my Windows 98SE. I planned on buying the 6.0 upgrade after they got the bugs out, and or I got a new computer with XP. Then I found out that 5.0 was the only version before, and that was the professional version. 6.0 Standard is a geared down version of 5. Ok, so it has some additional features, but it is missing even more of them.
So what's the skinny on the deal? For what I paid for a new 5 that is the full program, unregistered, and upgradeable, plus what I would have to pay here at Amazon for the 6 Professional Upgrade, I saved 80 bucks, and wound up with both versions 5 and 6 pro. Which as I mentioned are both professional versions. If I bought 5 and upgraded to 6 standard, I would only spend a little more for both versions. (About 4 percent more for standard, and about 20 percent less for professional) That way if 6 standard turned out to be as bad as many were saying it is, I would have 5 also.
In the final analysis, I am using 5 and am super excited about the new capabilities that Adobe Acrobat gives you. I'm hoping that by the time I get a new machine with XP on it, Adobe will come out with 6.something, or a second edition of 6 etc. with the fixes built in.
I'm not the only one to come to this conclusion. I noticed in the sales rank at the time I bought it and wrote this review, that 5 was outselling 6. Also I noticed that in the "Those who bought 5 also bought this" section, it had a special note that said, 47% of the people who bought 5 also bought the 6 upgrade. If your running XP, 2000, or NT, get them both. That way all the bases are covered.
Check out the reviews on 5 you'll be surprised how everybody raves about it. To be perfectly honest with you, if I had an XP machine, I would have ordered the 6 upgrade at the same time. Hope this helps. ... Read more

I bought this program to track employee time off. The program is very limited in how you can set up the vacation, sick time and personal time off. You have to use either an anniversary date set up or a year end set up for all the time off. My company uses anniversary date for vacations and year end for sick & personal time off. There is no provision for added vacation for longtime employees either with this program. In the set up all employees receive the same amount of vacation... there is no way to set it up to accrue more vacation after 3 years of employment. This program was a waste of money for me. I ordered it primarily to help me track employee time off and accrual and it does neither.

The last reviewer was correct in saying there's something fishy about the other reviews, especially those written by Burke Franklin. He gives all the products from JIAN 5 stars. Could it be because they published his book? (See "Business Blackbelt," by, you guessed it, Burke Franklin) As far as BizPlan 8 is concerned, it's okay if you happen to have a business that resembles their sample plans, but if you have a unique product or service, it's only marginally beneficial.

I am suspicious of most of the 8 users who wrote the reviews. I bought this product and it is not user friendly. It seems to be WORD, with categories for a business plan and types of business plans and a book on writing business plans. I am planning on returning it ASAP. When I looked at the written recommendations that were part of my decision to purchase this item, they are all written on one date and seem to be from one person! All of them with similar titles, ie, "software user from "city" and thecomments are all great. I think this might have been a promotion- GASP!
